Hi,
Im using the sony ericsson emulators and im facing the following problems stated below .
Hi whenever i tried to create a player using "file:///c:/sounds/test.mp3" or any directory instead of "c:" using the file protocol im getting the following error.
javax.microedition.media.MediaException: Cannot create a Player for: file:///c:/sounds/test.mp3
Im using Jp7 Emulators only and all the files have been placed in appropriate directories
C:\SonyEricsson\JavaME_SDK_CLDC\PC_Emulation\WTK2\appdb\SonyEricsson_W810_Emu\filesystem\c%3A\sounds
C:\SonyEricsson\JavaME_SDK_CLDC\PC_Emulation\WTK2\appdb\SonyEricsson_JP7_240x320_Emu\filesystem\c%3A\audio
But the result is same. Any suggestions regarding this..
Sometimes when i tried using FileConnection and input stream im getting this error but only sometimes and most times it used to play.

Any suggestion regarding this also tends to be very useful to me.
While using InputStream method whenver i tried to resume the paused song using setMediaTime(long msec) im getting the following error. Can anyone help me to resolve this ?
javax.microedition.media.MediaException: Unsupported SetMediaTime
while player.getMediaTime is returning a proper value .

Its really surprising to see that no one has a suggestion for this.

I have just started learning JavaFX and I am trying to create a very simple Video Player. This is the code :

A very simple player, however I encounter this Exception when the Stage loads : com.sun.media.jfxmedia.MediaException: "Error media creation". The exception seems to happen at this line "Media player = new MediaPlayer(media);".
Can anybody help me with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. You have two problems here:
1. Mp4 is not a supported format. Take a look at the Supported Media Codecs:

Media files won't import with any of the import options

Hi all,
just finished a job and returned a company laptop. Copied the iTunes library to my dropbox. Got a new laptop and tried to import my media into iTunes, but I can't get the media in.
Tried Preferences / Advanced / set iTunes media folder location
Tried changing the folder location, then changing it back again
Tried File / Library / organize library / consolidate files (the second option "reorganize.." is greyed out)
Tried File / Add to library to get media in by type, all folders work except the music folder. iTunes freezes during import requiring a force quit
Tried importing the offending songs by hand first, but iTunes keeps freezing on different songs each time.
Quit and relaunched iTunes after each of the listed attempts here, but nothing happens. iTunes is simply not reacting, except after selecting file / add to library. Then an import happens for all media except the songs, but of course I loose all my star ratings and comments and smart playlists. All required iTunes files are there:
iTunes Music Library.xml - I opened this file in Text Edit and it contains the file information to all songs, not sure why it's not reading it
iTunes Library.itl
iTunes Library Extras.itdb
iTunes Library Genius.itdb
All songs are legally purchased and were downloaded from within iTunes. The only fix seems to be to drag each song into iTunes individually, but I can't believe this is my only option (just yet). Please help.

Tried all that. No difference. Also created a new catalog, with the same results. The Import screen shows all the previews, all checked. I press "Import" and the import progress bar shows that the files are importing, then a blank screen saying No Files in the Current Import.
Has no one else encountered this?

Media is gone

just updated my iphone4 and ipad 1, and got the newest 10.4 patch, and now itunes won't display any media except podcasts and itunes u content, the files are still in the folder, i can double click on them and they play in itunes, but never show up in the itunes window as being part of the library... is anyone else having this problem?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
You may want to also do the following...
Remove battery
Remove Media Card (while it is out, you could use a PC to check what content it actually has)
Insert battery and reboot...allow plenty of time for the BB to sense that there is no media card
Remove battery
Insert Media Card
Insert battery and reboot
See if whatever the content is has returned (be sure to allow sufficient time for the BB to fully scan the media card)

Problem with new 1.03 Color update? Media offline.

Hi.
I'm fairly new at using Color. I recently updated Color to 1.0.3.
and now I have a problem when I send a sequence from FCP to Color.
All the media (except graphics made in Livetype) are offline.
Before the update, everything was working fine.
Sending the project and exporting/importing a XML-file gives the
same results.
I have tried to reconnect the media, but it seems to do nothing
when I find the right clip and click "choose".
(I have some clips with variable speeds made in Final Cut, but
that didn't seem to be a problem in the earlier version. Worked just fine.)
I'm editing XDCAM 720p footage shot at 60fps.
Is anyone else having this problem? Does the update change some preferences
that I'm not unaware of?

You will not find Color 1.0.2 anywhere since Apple has released an update, unless someone has been good enough to take precautions and download the updaters first, save them, and then do installations. There is a preference within Software Update that you can first download the updates so you can then save them, then install.
Speaking of precautions, reading this thread, I'm just flabberghasted that folks don't do clones at all before updating. Had you cloned your system drive, you'd be back up and productive in less than an hour. Cloning a system drive is a well documented piece of system maintenance and it takes nothing but an investment in a harddrive (cheap these days), some free software and some time. Amazing.
That being said, certainly does seem to be a Sony-centric issue stemming from this update. You may check the other Color boards and Sony camera boards to see if other users are having these problems and if there are any solutions. You can also leave feedback for Apple. FWIW, I don't work with xdcam ex material so I've not been having these issues at all. As I said before, this update cured some ills I was having with Color and it works better than ever where I sit.

IS MEDIA MANAGER USELESS? (or is it just me)

I have a very small project relatively speaking. I captured about an hour of interviews. I cut out at least half of the material and went to media manager. No combination of options gives me any kind of space saving outcome. I start with 11 GB and any possible combination of MM settings results in exactly the same size media except the 'recompress' option which actually results in taking up more space.
What gives with this?

Relinking media in Color

This may be a dumb ? but I'm new to Color and stuck. I sent a sequence from FCP to Color, but the media is offline. Now...the Reconnect Media option under FILE doesn't even allow me to navigate to my Lacie drive where the media is stored. However, I can navigate there via control-clicking individual clips. Once I do and click "Load"...Voila!...nothing. BIG FAT NOTHING.

Certain drives missing from KDE's "media:/" HAL Issue?

All my drives / partitions show up in media:/ except my software raid array (/dev/md0) and my SCSI CDROM (/dev/scd0)
Any Ideas as to why?
'lshal | grep hda' etc. show up fine, but 'lshal | grep md0' and 'lshal | grep sr0' draw a blank.

Can I have iTunes music on my SSD and an external drive? How will this affect syncing to iOS devices?

I don't have space to keep my entire iTunes library on my SSD. Currently I have my iTunes library split as follows:
SSD: Contains a subset of music, apps, books, etc. New items usually get added here.
External HD: Contains all of my music and iTunes media (including apps... so many apps). It's usually missing the most recent items added, due to the fact I don't plug it in so often.
I ran into a problem maintaining these two libraries earlier while syncing my iPhone. When I tried to sync the iPhone with the SSD library, it would delete apps off of my phone because they weren't contained in the iTunes library there, even though I had the same base .itl file for both the SSD and the external libraries.
What I want to do is set it up so that I maintain a core of music on my SSD and the stuff I don't listen to as often on my external hard drive. I also want to keep all the space hogs (movies, apps, etc) on the external as well. However, I want this to appear as one seamless iTunes library and I DON'T EVER WANT ANYTHING DELETED FROM MY PHONE WHEN I SYNC IT. I want to be able to sync my phone without worrying that apps will be deleted and I'll have to restore them from iCloud and reset all the settings, sign in, etc. Right now I am backing up to iCloud, but my understanding is that iTunes will still delete things from my phone if they are not available in the library.
My question: How do I accomplish this? I have a lot of metadata in my iTunes library that I don't want to lose (playcounts, ratings, etc).
I currently have this:   SSD: .itl file pointing to music on the SSD, a mixture of iTunes media (some that I want easily accessible, some I don't)
                                  External drive: .itl file pointing to music on the external drive, all of my iTunes media (except for anything I may have added to the SSD)
I think I need this:       SSD: .itl file pointing to music on the SSD and the external, music that I listen to often
                                 External drive: music that I don't listen to often, things that take up a lot of space
My thought process is that I will need to somehow move music from the external to the SSD while maintaining the pointers so that iTunes knows where they are. For this I have unchecked "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media Folder When Adding To Library," and to maintain the pointers and move the songs, I'm thinking of using Doug's Applescripts for "Relocate Selected:" http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=relocateselected
Once I have the songs split across these drives, I'm going to copy the .itl file from the external to the SSD and boot it up to see if it works.
Two things: 1.) Will this approach work? Can I maintain my library across separate drives this way and have it be seamless? I understand I won't be able to access the media on my external hard drive when it is not plugged in (duh), but...
2.) Will it affect syncing? When my external isn't plugged in, will iTunes try and delete things from my iPhone? It should still be able to "see" them, it just won't be able to access them. Will I have to turn off syncing apps while syncing with my external device unplugged?

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that. iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.

What is the license for an App Store App? In-App Purchase? Re-downloads?

Hello All!
I purchased an iPhone 3G when they initially came out. My wife bought one (and uses my iTunes account on it exclusively) about six months later. I couldn't find and understand what the licensing agreement was about installing the same app on multiple devices. I wanted to be legal and do it right, but I knew I could download the same app on both phones (with a single purchase) since they both use the same iTunes account.
I asked the iTunes store support via e-mail for a clarification of the policy since I couldn't find or understand the legal version of application licensing through the iTunes store on the Apple website. I got the run-around and no simple yes or no answer after several back and forth replies. So, I posted a message here and received a number of replies telling me that it was legal (not just possible, but LEGAL according to the EULA and the iTunes Store's licensing agreement -- which does vary considerably with each type of product sold). I proceeded accordingly since then based on that information, since I couldn't get a simple yes or no answer from iTunes Support about the really simple question I asked them. I was just attacked about my total ignorance on a different website by a user when I questioned the change in In-App purchase policies. I know Apple has seen a spike in these purchases, but it's been driven (quite literally) by the GPS app subscriptions, not true in-app product purchases.
Up until now, I've avoided in-app purchaes because I just didn't like the fact that if it was lost due to some failure in hardware (or backups not working correctly, as that was a real problem with the iTunes software for some time for me), I had no ability to re-download it again, like the app itself. Now, with the policy change allowing for developers to avoid having to make a Lite version and make buying the full version an in-app purchase, this will make it unavoidable for certain applications if I want the full version.
*So, I've got several questions, and would appreciate an Apple employee response, in addition to others who really know (and aren't just doing what is possible). Is it legal for a purchased app to be installed on multiple devices concurrently? If that is legal, can an in-app purchase be installed on multiple devices concurrently (and is possible to make this download without additional charges)? And finally, can in-app purchaes be downloaded again if there is a hardware failure (and no valid backup to restore from) or do I have to buy it all over? If that last question has an answer of no, it's going to help me determine who I buy from.*
I'm not a fan of these in-app purchases since they weren't re-downloadable when problems occurred (as least that's what I was told), so as I said, I've avoided them. Obviously, I'm going to have to change that policy, but I want to know that my purchases will be safe. I like seeing the app on my computer's hard drive as a real file (and in iTunes as a listed application).
I'd appreciate someone clearing this up for me as I took the first time I asked as a basis for my decisions since then and now I'm being told that was all wrong. I wish there was a simple link, in non-legal terminology, that would explain the licensing rights for each type of product being sold in the iTunes store on the Apple website itself. If there is such a place, iTunes Support should have told me about that when I contacted them in the first place when my wife first got her phone (but instead, I had to get answers here because it seemed like Apple's support is just automated computers guessing at appropriate responses to questions). It was such a simple question and I couldn't get an answer, even after 2 or 3 back and forth replies. It was rediculous!
Would someone please clear this up for me?

I know it's not official, but after getting attacked on another website for this question, I knew I had to head here. *A few questions for you, though, with the in-app purchases of both subsciptions (like with the GPS apps) and product additions, since I've never used them before because of fear of losing them. When you make an in-app purchase, and then I want to put it on my wife's phone, does it come up the same box saying it's free to download because you've already purchased it? How does this work with subscriptions, which would have to update the developer's servers somehow (to know how long to provide a service for)? I have MotionX GPS and need a subscription for esentially the app to work fully. I'm still in the 30-day free window, but it's not installed on my wife's phone. If I want to continue the service, will I be able to buy one subscription and just re-download it on her phone (and it would give her phone the same expiration date for her service from them)? Would it just update MotionX's system when the initial purchase is made and any additional downloads would be ignored (as long as they were made under my iTunes account)? This is particularly confusing because MotionX says you can stack subscriptions, so I would think each download would have to be paid for in order to do this. See what I mean?*
*I know about music being non-redownloadable, but also thought the same was true for all media except for apps (movies, TV shows, etc.). Is that also not true? It's not a big issue for me, since I don't get most of my media from iTunes, but I'd like to know the right answers when I do.*
Thanks for helping someone who doesn't understand Apple's SLA's or how to find them online on their system. Yes, I'm a PC, but am considering a Mac for the near future, but I've never had a lot of luck finding information in Apple's support knowledgebase at all. Microsoft's KB works better, but it just may be I'm used to it since I've used it for almost 20 years. I've only been using Apple's for going on 15 months.
Really, if you can clear up these other questions, I'd be happy to call it solved. I appreciate it a bunch!

Managing Events and/or Projects With Disk Images

I came across this method of managing Events and Projects a while ago. I finally got around to giving it a try. Personally, I really like this method.
It's simple.
It keeps things very well organized.
It's easy to open only the project or events that you want.
It's easy to consolidate and back up once you're done.
It takes some workload off FCP X by not having to always open up all your Events and Projects.
So, I thought I would share this for those of you who were not already aware of it.
This is my workflow: (based on the link below)
I create a Disk Image (named for the Event/Project).
(Note: There are two places to create the name, I use both, keep them the same)
I open up FCP X.
I typically put only one Event on this Disk Image.
I then reference whatever Media I need in this Event.
I usually don't bother to copy the media. (except when I'm done and I archive it)
You can create multiple Events, if you feel the need for additional organization.
Then I create however many Projects I need.
(since Projects equates to Sequences from prior FCP versions)
I have a unique Disk Image for each Event/Project that I work on.
To use them ...
First, always make sure FCP X is not running.
Locate the Disk Image in finder.
Double click on the Disk Image and it will Mount on your desktop.
(assuming it's not already mounted on your desktop)
Open up FCP X and it will load the Event(s)/Project(s) in the Disk Image.
If you don't want to work on an Event/Project in FCP X (make sure FCP X is not open), in Finder, simply Eject the Disk Image.
Now when you open FCP X, it won't be there.
Its not gone, but since it's not mounted on the desktop, FCP X simply doesn't see it.
To get it back (obviously quit FCP X first) simply double click the Disk Image in Finder and it remounts.
Open FCP X and you can see it's back.
You can open (double click to mount) as many Event/Project Disk Images as you want.
Just make sure you mount and un-mount disk images when FCP X is not running.
If find this to be a great workflow.

Re the final commercial spot. What I am getting at is if all my media is optimized and therefore in ProRes, and I export in ProRes using the current settings, then shouldn't the media needed to rebuild the project be the same or close to what an exported Quicktime would have been?
Perhaps the notion of "used clips only" is not what it says then. I took that to be the "media managed" feature otherwise why is that wording there. I guess "used" actually refers to all of the media for the project and associated events rather than just for the project. This is misleading because the DUPLICATE operation and menu prompt only appears as a result of requesting an action on the project item.
There are aliases in my original event folder, but before I started this process tried to get FCPX to consolidate media for the project and it already was according the app. Truth is, some of the media is outside of the FCPX required folders. So it's strange that it says it's consolditated, but it's not and yet in duplicating the project it moves the references to the new volume only to point back to the old volume.
So my next question would be: Is there no feature to back up only what's needed to rebuild the final project (edit) reliably. Moving the project moves everything. According to the FCP manual, it seems using the Duplicate feature is the way I should be archiving. However if by "used clips only" FCP X means all media and refrerenced events, then I guess there's nothing for me in here. However then, whey would there be an option (after choosing duplicate project) an option to Duplicate Project and referenced events. If "used clips only" means all media, then there's no difference between the 2nd and 3rd Duplicate Project options.

Help me in resolving my problem

when i try to send photo while chatting on mig33 from camera ,i get error microedition media .media exception, what is that problem as i am using 5310 music express

Drag your Windows formatted volume to the Spotlight > Privacy preference pane to prevent Spotlight from indexing that volume.
Also, Google Chrome and all its related components will push a Mac with only 2 GB memory to its limits. Uninstall it and use a browser written by a company that knows how to write for OS X. Right now that excludes Google.

When does downloading begin for Manager.createPlayer

when you make a call to the Manager.createPlayer method using a url and the parameter passed in, when does the video begin to download. Immediately? Or do you have to call realize first to begin the download, or even prefetch. I'm trying to put together a video streaming midlet by stitching players together and I now know that you can't have two players in the realize state at once. If that is true and I can't start downloading anything until a player is in the realized state, then how do I download a video when I'm playing one. Confusion. Can somebody clear this up for me. Also, has anybody ever heard of a media exception whose reason is "nMediaSetUp failed"? Confusion.

If you visit the main Apple Support Web page, where it says "About Your Support Coverage," there is a box in the lower, right-hand corner to enter your serial number to find out about your AppleCare or warranty coverage. It will tell you the date the computer was "purchased" and your warranty began. I've seen the dates reflect an AppleCare Protection Plan I enrolled right before visiting the main support page, so it is up-to-date quickly.

Adjusting sound in iPad separately?

I have ought iPad 3 recently. The thing I noticed is that when I use physical buttons to adjust sound, it sets only sound for media (music, movies), but not for the effects (keyboard clicks etc).
If I go to the settings - general - sounds and turn on set sound effects with buttons, physical controls work only for effects, but not for the music.
Is it possible to control all the sounds and music with physical controls altogether?

I have the iPad2 and it is not only annoying, it is plain stupid and confusing. OK I understand having different volume levels for different things, but why can't we adjust them in settings?
Settings only has one volume control, which I assume is for media (except media embedded in webpages). Sound effects have their own volume control that you can't knowingly get to for adjustment, unless you are trying to adjust Media volume of an embedded web video only to find that you can't!!!!!
WTH, who designs this stuff and thinks this is great! It's a feature! I don't need the ipad to be smart about volume settings, because it ends up being really, really stupid as a result. If we're going to have three volumes, what we need is three volume sliders in settings, a main volume for media on the device, a sound effects volume for notifications, and a web-media volume so I can play youtube videos without them blasting noise when I KNOW I MUTED MY DEVICE!!!!!

Mass Storage Contorller and Keybord Hotkeys m70-165

I need a driver for the Mass storage controller, basiclly my cd/dvd writer is not working it is not recognizing blank cds/dvds however it is reading the normal cds/dvds and the keyboard hotkeys play/pause/forward etc. is not working

I will look for that the keyboard driver, and yes there was no recovery media which i found very odd that i did not get it, i just bought my machine a week ago, but i was forced to reinstall windows to change the language to english and i had to get all the drivers.
In the toshiba website i cannot find DVD medias except for DVD RAM and im not sure what that is, so what could it be named under
And finally about the mass storage controller i guess it is the memory card slot becasue i just realised that it is not working and again what is the media called for that.
