Media Pending after using effects

Dear Forum Users,
and again! Premiere Pro doesnt work well as needed.
When i use an effect on a clip and try to render i always get the "Media Pending" - Screen.
Only when i switch to Multicamera i see a result and when i export the media but not at the composit Screen.
Anybody had this issue too?
Regards
Peter

  • Slow/unresponsive video playback, media pending, after CC'14 October update

Encountering a strange issue after the October update. It's a project carried over from the previous CC'14 version, nothing crazy, about an 18 minute timeline of video/.mov clips straight off a JVC GY-HM600U with simple RGB curves/masks on some clips, some Prores422 clips of graphics exported out of After Effects, a couple nested sequences featuring simple text w/ cross dissolves, and a lower 3rd Quicktime with RGB+Alpha. There are some linked AE comps in the project but not in the sequence. Ran fine before update. Here's my system, obviously no CUDA so Mercury Playback is software only:
Upon opening the project everything is fine, playback is smooth, scrubbing from beginning to end no problem. After a period of time, 10-15 minutes? Suddenly video playback hangs up, with audio continuing to play after . Opening a clip in the Source window displays the Media Pending thumbnail, after 15 seconds it seems to find the media but again it's only a still frame with video hanging up. Then audio seems to hang up and I can't do anything. I can still manipulate the UI but scrubbing through the timeline is completely unresponsive, pressing play does nothing.
Quitting the program seems to freeze it, the window closes but it stays lit up in my dock and shows Application Not Responding, causing me to force quit.
A system reboot yesterday seemed to clear the issue up for the remainder of the work day but it's back today. Not sure where the issue is coming from, but seems like some kind of memory leak or something similar since it seems to be a gradual degradation in performance. I'll have to roll back to a previous version to finish up this project until things are fixed.

    Hello,
Many thanks for your very long reply and your interest in my problems.
I shall try to answer you :
    - 1) OS :  Windows 7 64 bits Pro SP1, french,
                     Version : 6.1.7601.18247 (Win7RTM)
                     Framework.NET : 4.0.30319.18408 built by : FX451RTMGREL)
                     DirectX : 11.0,
                     OpenGL : 6.1.7600.16385 (Win7_rtm.090713-1255).
    - 2) Yes the media pending goes away but after a couple of minutes (one
year ago I was using PP CS6 and Encore CS6, I never had this problem
    even with very long files),
    - 3) Yes my GPU driver is updated (Nvidia GeForce 332.21 dated 12/19/2014).
I never had thiese problems with PP CS6 + Encore CS6 and my projects
built with these PP ans Encore version were with the same structure and
length (in PP CS6 : sequences up to 45 minutes, in Encore CS6 chapters
    up to the same time).
The difference between are in my hardware :
    - the RAM was upgraded from 12 GB to 24 GB,
    - the CPU was overclocked from 3,2 GHz (default) to 3,88 GHz).
    - 4) I shall try up to the disk burn to check if the problem is just due
    to display of "animated buttons".
I hope my answer will be usefull for you.
    Regards,
    Jacques Gourier.

  • Media pending after rendered

I rendered some footage and since then certain clips on my time line keep coming up with media pending - does anyone know why this is happening, I cant view my full time line because of this

More has been made on less. Doubling the RAM and adding a RAIDed Thunderbolt drive (if you have the connections) would go some way to speeding up performance, but there are lots of workspace efficiencies within After Effects to speed things up as well.
I'd say go AE all the way - it's far more efficient for what you're trying to achieve. It has a wireframe mode, so once you sort your clips you can build up a frame that way, previewing it regularly to check on progress. Quality can be set to 1/4 or 1/8, which helps. Video can be set to draft quality, which also helps. And once you're happy with sections you can precomp them and switch them off, speeding things up as well.
Premiere is a bit of a blunt tool once you're dealing with dozens of layers. It is neither efficient or easy to work with, because it isn't really designed for this sort of work. After Effecs on the other hand is a Swiss army knife - versatile, open ended, (relatively) optimised, and offering you several ways to accomplish everything. It'd be perfect for your art. Good luck and just think of it as Photoshop with a timeline. (Oh wait, it has one of those now too, doesn't it.) I've had comps with dozens of live video frames or several hundred large photoshop images (>1000px) and AE didn't break too much of a sweat. That was years ago on specs similar to what you're quoting too.

  • Movies offline after restart, "media pending", no re-connecting possible, EL12

    Hi,
i was working on a project with .MOV files and Audio (mp3). All worked fine, however when i restarted the programm, the movie files where offline, it says "media pending". Manual re-connection not possible (everytime i choose the mov file it asks again to locate the certain .mov file).
The .MOV files seem not to be damaged, can see them properly in Quicktime.
This happened the second time now. After tghe first I started all over a new project, Same result. Worked fine, next day after restarting... .MOV files not shown anymore.
Using Premiere Elements 12 on a Mac (10.7.5)
Thanks for any help, please let me know what further infos you need.
    Ralf

    Beraya,
If the problem with that Project IS the Assets, your MOV files, this test might be worth a bit of exploration.
First, Open the problem Project, and Save_As_a_Copy, locating that onto an internal HDD (Hard Disk Drive).
    Exit from PrE.
In Finder, Move your used MOV files to a new folder, also on the internal HDD, and make note of that new loacation.
Launch PrE and Open that Save_As_a_Copy Project.
Since the MOV files have been Moved, you should get a message, "Where is file ____ ?" There will be a dialog box to Finder, for you to locate those MOV files, in the new location, to where you Moved them. If you select the first "missing file," then PrE should survey that folder for all missing files, Relinking to each, in that new location. This Tips & Tricks article will give you more details on that "Where is file ____ ?" message: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/990503?tstart=30
When all of the MOV files have been successfully Relinked, test that Project, and please report.
Now, if you have made a note on the exact MOV files, that are causing a problem, I would Move those instead to a separate sub-folder, from the "known good" MOV files. This will allow you to Relink those "known good" MOV files, and you will then get the "Where is file ____ ?" message for the ones in that new sub-folder. Repeat the Relinking process, but watch to see if they again are causing issues. That could narrow things down to just a few files, that might need to be investigated more in depth.
The reason for the Save_As_a_Copy is so that nothing will interfere with your original Project - it will not be used for this test, or touched in any way.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

Legacy FCP has Revert Project to return to the last saved version, and it has Restore Project to go back to one of the autosaved versions. The maximum number of undo's can be set in user preferences. A lot different than X.

  • Media pending problem after clearing media cache folder

    Hi All,
So yesterday I was having trouble with premeire in that on some of the files it conformed it managed to screw up the audio and play a short 'loop' instead of the actual audio. I was instructed to empty my media cache folder and re-start premeire pro which seemed to have worked fine. However upon booting the program up this morning it seems as though all the clips are 'media pending' (sans a title I added late last night) and even after conforming finished nothing will preview. Would re-deleting the media cache files work? I am hesitant because this seems to be what caused the problem in the first place.
Thanks again, it is much appreciated.

    See if this helps.

I'm using  proxy media for a video I'm editing but now that i switch back to the original media some of my effects are missing can anyone help me.

Shouldn't happen.Only thing I can think of suggesting is to delete render files and try again. Trashing preferences is a long shot, but no harm in trying. Use the Digital Rebellion Preference Manager, a free download.
Assume you have a reason for using such an outdated version of FCP X. That may be contributing to your problem.

  • Applying Effects After Using a  Color Key to Remove Greenscreen

I want to apply an infrared effect to a character on some greenscreen footage after using keylight to remove the greenscreen. When I apply the effect, it of course effects the color key, making all the removed greenscreen come back. I'm sure there must be a way to keep the screen matte data, before the effect is added, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.

Some effects will overwrite the Alpha channel. In that case the procedures you choose are correct, if you want to keep the layer count low. Still, you may wish to check the layer's internal blendmode controls just to make sure. For effects like Colorama, you can also explicitly disable Alpha processing, so the source transparency remains intact. You could of course also use the Alpha Matte or Stencil Alpha modes to do the cutout using duplicates of the source layer.

  • Premiere Pro CC freezes after opening project. "Media Pending"

So I'm editing a music video I filmed with a Canon 60D, 1080p 23.976 fps, and i was chopping and layering clips that had not yet been rendered for the colour correction done on them, which was a slow process. (I have a mid 2010 mac book pro with an upgrade to SSD's and 8GB of ram, 2.4GHz Intel Core i5, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256MB, running os 10.9.2).
ANYWAY, I had to save and close it without rendering it yet and whenever I try and open it again, it opens the project, but then freezes and I get the spinning beachball of doom. I can see the sequence and all the edits that I had done, but the program window is yellow and says "Media Pending". I have to force quit to get out of it because it always says Premiere Pro CC is not responding. This does NOT happen with any of my other projects. This particular project is not crazy huge, but it's larger than my other projects which are few and it's certainly enough to make my macbook cry. I will be very grateful for any help.

Sorry to hear that. Please check out this doc: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
You also might try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
    Delete media cache
    Delete preview files
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.

  • Found Fix for "Media Pending" with MPEG Videos (after 4 years)

    This is for Premiere CS3.
Very often, if you make any changes to your system, or move files around, Premiere can lose track of the database that keeps track of MPEG2 video clips. The result is a persistent Media Pending display instead of your video. Cleaning the Media Cache doesn't fix it. Deleting all the temp folder media cache doesn't either. Here's what I found that works:
    Go into this folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\3.0\MediaIO\Cache
The <User Name> will be your login name of the Windows account.
Delete all the files that are in this folder.
Restart Premiere and watch it re index your video and your video reapear again.
Took me FOUR YEARS to discover this one on my own!

  • Error Message for "Media Pending" or "Media Offline"

    This is INCREDIBLY frustrating.
It is my job at a church to produce broadcast-quality segments for our local tv stations for 28 minute slots. I am working with HD-quality videos, bumpers, audio files, etc. It takes my PC about 30 minutes to render each segment and I work with about 4 segments a week. Add that up, and it takes me two straight hours to render each finished product (not counting any edit work), all which have to be done in a day because we broadcast most of the stuff that happens on Sunday the following Tuesday.
That said, I render the final product, after everything has been through quality-control, through encoder because of the FTP option. When I leave every Monday afternoon, I start the queue for the four segments, which, in turn, will spit out the product and FTP it to our server at the tv stations.
But when I come in Tuesday morning and find that AME has rendered four USELESS videos because, instead of informing me when I started the queue there was something wrong with fetching the video files, it decided to render some stupid stock frame of either, "Media Pending" or "Media Offline" - which makes ABSOLUTLY NO sense, for when I open premiere or after effects, it renders quite fine through AME. You can't sit here and tell me that the rendering software requires the project to be open in Premiere or AE. That would be counter productive and impossible for anyone batch-rendering.
Here is what I need: Just a simple, "Hello, there was something wrong with fetching all of the media files in your project (blank, blank, blank) - please check your project file."
    Thanks!
