MediaSource Player/Organizer for Vista won't inst

I just downloaded the MediaSource Player/Organizer for Vista (32 bit, but it appears to be the same download as the 64 bit). It won't install. The error message I receive is "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system". I had first tried to install from the disk that came with my ZEN Micro, but it wouldn't install becuase it's only for XP and below. I also tried to install the DirectX 9.0 as per the instructions - I found that interesting since DirectX 9.0 does not support Vista. But it installed anyway. So....has anyone hit this problem and what is missing from my system?

I seem to recall hitting this problem on WindowsXP as well, and I had to install the drivers before the application would install...

  • My music does not play in Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer

? In Creative MediaSource Player my music library is listed, but when I try to play a song (on the computer- not my ZEN Micro) I get an X and it doesn't play. The music is fine on my Micro. It seems there is a problem with the software, but I don't want to have to reload all my songs again. Any suggestions?

I see what is happening now.
Media sniffer will only find new items(those in your kids folders) and ones where the links have been
changed .i.e.items which you may have moved between files on your computer.
You have obviously deleted files from the creative software as instructed but they remain intact on
your PC. Therefore if you import them all again into the creative media source programme I guess
all will be ok.Unfortunately when you cleared items from the creative programme hopefully you did
not tick the box delete from computer as well. If you did and have not made cd/dvd backups of these files
you will have to rip cd's/download music files back onto your computer.Quite a long job for 500 songs.
Incidentally you can set media sniffer to only check the folders you want it to rather than all folders
but I won't go into that at this time unless you wish to know.

  • Mediasource Player / Organizer 5 install fre

I cannot install the Mediasource 5 player / organizer. Whether I use the web autoupdate or download the exe, the install process always stalls when updating system files at the 32% mark! The install never completes and leaves 4 creative install applets which have to be killed with Task Manager. This leaves entries in the Creative Volume Panel for starting the old Mediasource (which still works) and an entry for Mediasource 5 which does nothing! Can someone tell me how to get the install to complete?

    QUOTE
"Does it always hang at 32%"
Yes! I think it is 32%. Its always at the exact same place in the install process, but I do not recall any mention of what dll, exe etc was being installed at the time.
I will try to run it again (5 time's a charm [that is sarcasm BTW. Sometimes this forum has had a bit of trouble recognising sarcasm, irony etc, in the past!])
    But thanks for persevering Micromouse!

I'm running firmware version .20.0 on my ZMP-is that the problem?
MediaSource 3.x detects my ZMP flawlessly, yet version 5.x is blind to it.

  • Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30

I've been having a problem w/ my new 60 GB Jukebox Zen Xtra. I've updated all the firmware & drivers, etc.,? but when I plug my mp3 player into the computer, it won't show up in the Creative software. I'm able to use the Zen Xtra Media Explorer, but I prefer the interface on the MediaSource program. Does anyone know how I can find my mp3 player in the Creative software? I seem to remember having a similar problem when I first bought my Jukebox, but I can't remember how to fix it...

Perhaps you can try installing this plugin.

  • Transferring tracks from Nomad Jukebox 2 to MUVO with Creative MediaSource Player/Organi

I recently installed Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer . When I transfer tracks from Nomad Jukebox 2 to my MUVO the tracks are transferrred as folders, not tracks (which the MUVO cannot play). How do I get the Nomad Explorer to transfer the MP3s as tracks and not folders? I'd appreciate your help.
P.S. I do not have this problem when I use Creative Playcenter to do a similar tranfer.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Perhaps there's some confusion with the MuVo Explorer, or plain Windows Explorer.

  • Video won't run. telling me to update flash player. click on update for mac won't load?

video won't run, telling me to update flash player, click on update for mac won't update. do i need to load flash player and is it ok for mac?

Yes, it's fine for your Mac ...
Most sites such as YouTube require the Flash plugin.
Flash isn't a player per se, but a plugin.
Sometimes uninstalling the current plugin then reinstalling new can help.
Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Make sure and uninstall the old plugin first then restart your Mac.
If you use Safari to view videos, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 Fix for Vista & XP

A possible fix for users wanting to get Flash Player 10 fixed
and running on Windows XP and Vista.
    See here for details:
    www.thetechangel.com/blogberry/2008/10/adobe-flash-player-10-fix-for-vista-xp/

(This is a possible solution for most users) I have found that inside the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash (WinXP Home/Pro) (Computer > C: Drive > Windows > System32 > Macromed > Flash for Vista) there should be a file named FlashUtil10b.exe (IF NOT YOU SHOULD UPDATE AS SPECIFIED!) (or FlashUtil10a.exe or for older versions something similar depending on your version), which is the update utility for flash player. Click on this and if it updates, you will have to restart your computer. This should fix any missing files, and update you to the latest version.
On a side note to all those who read this, I downloaded and installed 5 different times, the same version, from different websites, all for the "new" flash version, and they didn't work (this also included trying to update Shockwave player itself). Apparently, going directly to the website and downloading a new version of Adobe Flash Player, and installing, doesn't uninstall the older version, (though it says it does) nor fixes the problem. I assume they are aware of this problem, because they included this bug fix in revision 10b. This fix should work for those of you whom cannot view/see flash images as well. There also appears to be a bug/reference problem with the installation of IE8 giving the error "Missing Shockwave Decompression XTRA", when trying to play a Shockwave/Flash file, which seems also to affect Firefox and other browsers. It doesn't recognize that the folder or files that it needs in it, exist. I never had his problem before, until IE8 was installed. I checked which version I had in the system32 folder and found this updater built in to Adobe. Version 10a does NOT automatically update, but version 10b includes this fix. I currently had version 10a when I received this error, and began digging for a solution. Doing the update as described above fixed the problem, and updated it to version 10b.
The new flash version 10b has some new features, such as volume control, auto-updating, and several rendering options for those who may have a faster or slower computer/video card.
I found this works great for XP users but unsure of the Vista users. The process is the same  for Vista and the update should still work the same, as long as you run it as Administrator, I assume. I have this also posted on wwwdslreports.com at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22115254-IE-IE8-and-Adobe-Flash-Question and here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22361930-Adobe-Flash-Player-10-Fix-for-WinXP-IE8-Firefox- ect. It appears to work for everyone so far. I have not heard of any problems from users with this problem running the RC (Release Canidate) for Windows 7 yet.
I hope this works to your benefit.

  • MediaSource 5 Organizer cr

Hello. I'm having a problem with MediaSource 5.0.38 Organizer.
MS5 Player opens and runs just fine, except when I try to open OGGs. I haven't tested this too much, but when I tried to open a Wiktionary pronunciation OGG (the one for "hat" specifically, chosen at random), the player started up, started asking about file type associations, said "hat", and then promptly crashed. I didn't check the error specs for that, because it only happened once. I tried opening an MP3 from another website and it played fine without crashing.
Organizer, on the other hand, starts up (regardless of whether it's through the Start Menu, opening an Internet file through Firefox, etc.), displays the Sources and Now Playing fields (the latter usually contains another Wiktionary OGG for "assuage" which I played before the crashes started), starts the file type association bit, and promptly crashes with a Windows XP "program has encountered an error and needs to close"-type error with these specs:
    AppName: ctcmsu.exe
    AppVer: 5.2.3.0
    ModName: ctpcmlu.ecd
    Modver:5.2.4.0
    Offset: 000e5bc
Sometimes, the crash is so nasty that it also causes Dr. Watson Postmortem Debugger to crash. This doesn't seem to happen every time, but it happens enough. After the crash, Organizer remains open but frozen until I right-click it on the Taskbar and select close, at which point I am informed that it's not responding and have to click End Task before it closes.
I've updated my sound driver, thought I uninstalled all Creative software (apparently not since "assuage" was still in Now Playing, so I don't know what I missed) and reinstalled, and it still crashes.
After the Player crashed with "hat" I figured I'd try a different file-type. I opened an MP3 from the Internet with Player, and as I said it worked fine. Then I switched to Organizer view and it crashed in the same spot.
Is this something to do with my Library? Other threads lead me to believe it could be, but I don't know how to edit my library besides through Organizer.
I'm using a NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra, and have the appropriate driver (ZEN and NOMAD Jukebox Plugin 5.00.22 for Creative MediaSource 5 Player & Organizer) from Creative.com installed. It crashes regardless of whether the player is plugged in. I'm on Windows XP SP2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    The same bug!
Yesterday I've uninstalled all Creative software with registry cleaning and complete file deleting to solve this problem.
I've installed latest version of drivers. MS5 (only skins and player was selected). Than NEO 6 + from original disk THX Console and Ent/Game/Audio consoles.
Organizer successfully imported my entire collection with mp3's and ogg's. Organizer worked fine for 5 hours and than crashed with error Offset: 000e5bc in ModName: ctpcmlu.ecd.
Now Organizer plays music, generates and plays Smart Playlist, but every attempt to access PC Music Library by clicking on it in the tree leads to error with Offset: 000e5bc in ModName: ctpcmlu.ecd.
I've manually deleted PC Music Library files in Doc_Set_User. No use. Crash during entire collection import. Even tried it with only one MP3 file. Successfully imported, but Organizer crashes every time when I click PC Music Library. So I think I need reinstall all Creative software once again.
    Is there any solution?

  • Windows Vista won't support my M

Sorry - me again. I have a Creative Zen 20mg and Windows Vista won't load the CD. I then looked for various download options online and have been told that they won't work with Vista and Creative have no plans to change this. I need to upload my music to the PC! Is there any way that I can sort this some other way? I've seen from the other threads that there aren't drivers available. ?Many thanks.Message Edited by Ellymoo on 03-02-20080:57 AM

There are several components you would need to install for access to the player. ALL must be installed in Compatabilty mode for XP. In addition to the one you listed The Creative Nomad Jukebox plug-in is one of the components that needs to be installed if you have not. The version number is 2.00.20. http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=9320 The other component after that one is the Creative Nomad Explorer version 3.0.0http://support.creative.com/download...ownloadId=8069
