Meeting workspace template

Hi All,
I need some info on how to create a custom meeting workspace in sharepoint 2010. In our organization we are not having the default template available for meeting workspace 2010.
Can some one guide me how to create a meeting workspace template and deploy it across a site?
Some one please let me know whether it is feasible? Its an urgent requirement
Thanks in Advance
Jithin

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create a custom meeting workspace.
You can create a meeting workspace in SharePoint 2010 programmatically using C#.
There are two articles for your reference.

  • What will Meeting Workspaces look like in SharePoint 2013?

We are looking to upgrade to SharePoint 2013, and are concerned about the Meeting Workspaces.  I understand that they need to be operated in 2010 mode, how does this work?  Do we need to switch from 2013 to 2010 and then back again, based on
what site/subsite we are on?  What does this look like?  How can we fix this, is there a way to change the existing meeting workspaces to team sites instead?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Transferring Calendar with Meeting WorkSpace

I have asked to transfer a meeting workspace with the calendar to another collection site. When I transferred the calendar & meeting workspace - I got no issue but when I click "Go to Calendar", it didn't go back to the calendar that I transferred,
it went back to a different calendar link.
    E.g.
    old calendar link: intranet.test.com/sites/project/calendar.aspx
    New link: sharepoint.test.com/sites/project/paperless/calendar.aspx
when click "Go to Calendar" on meeting workspace, it goes to: sharepoint.test.com/sites/project/calendar.aspx
Anything I missed out when I migrated it?

    Hi,
Meeting workspace was created due to the Calendar event with "use a meeting workspace to organize attendees, agendas, documents,..." and since it is a recurring event, it auto created the dates in the workspace.
I tried saving the calendar via template including its content and when I click the workspace link for date, it showing page cannot be displayed. I also import the meeting workspace however (1.)it does not link to the calendar (2.)it empty.

  • 2007 Meeting Workspace move via content and structure not working

We are trying to move several meeting workspaces from a 5th level sub-site to a 2nd level site within the same site collection.  We know regular sites at the same or different level can be moved, but for some reason the meeting workspaces won't move.
Publishing feature is activated on the destination, and we have moved test sibling sites into different sibling sites.  Error we keep getting is:
'Site in question' cannot be moved or copied into itself or one of its subsites
Are there special permissions needed above site collection admin?  My farm admin is having better success than I am at moving things within the site collection for these workspaces.

Looks like you just need to be patient!  ~=^)
    1. Move modal comes up
    2. select destination
    3. *** wait for modal window to post back
    4. then you can click "OK" to move the actual sites

  • Cannot create a Sharepoint meeting workspace in a Outlook 2010 meeting request

I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Outlook 2010. I am trying to create a meeting request and also create a sharepoint workspace attach to that meeting request in Outlook.
First I click Create button and then it would let me choose a location for the workspace server in a drop-down box. I chose "other...". After I input my sharepoint site URL in the Workspace Server, Outlook does not recognize the address and a windows
popup saying "The operation could not be completed because of a problem found on the server or the server could not be found."
I checked the thread below and it doesn't solve my problem at all.
There is no reason why this should not be working.  I also created a meeting workspace in sharepoint, and can't even link it to an outlook meeting request when pasting the direct link from the browser.
Did Microsoft break this and forget (or not care) to tell anyone?

    Hi,
I found a similar thread and someone posted a solution:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/t/735.aspx
I've quoted the solution and you can try if this fits your scenario:
The issue with Outlook not being able to find a Meeting Workspace is usually due to authentication not being passed correctly. Adding Trusted Sites information to Internet Explorer lets the browser know to allow the authentication to pass.
    Open Internet Explorer
Go to: Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Sites -> Advanced
    Add:   *.sharepoint.com ,  *.microsoftonline.com  ,  *.lync.com   ,  *.outlook.com
    Click Save
Then go to Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites -> Sites
    Add:  https://*.sharepoint.com  ,
    https://*.microsoftonline.com  ,
    https://*.lync.com  ,
    https://*.outlook.com
    Click Save
    Close Internet Explorer
    Open Internet Explorer
Goto login.microsoftonline.com and sign in, make sure "keep me signed in" is checked.
Go back to outlook and the meeting workspace button will work now.
Note Since you are using Sharepoint 2010, in the example above it's SharePoint Online, the URL you need to add is your own SharePoint Site URL. Also login your own page as you should not be using login.microsoftonline.com.

  • Document changes place in meeting workspace

We have a recurring events meeting workspace in SharePoint 2010. If we upload the document for some date, this document is found on that meeting events folder in document library. But after some days that document changes place and it is found in the first
meeting event's folder. This is very random behaviour.
    Any idea on this issue?

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that Document is
moved from one meeting event’s folder to the first meeting event’s folder in your meeting workspace.
I try to reproduce your scenario in my SharePoint 2010 environment but it is fine. For your issue, you can go to your meeting workspace document library -> document library settings -> advanced settings,
clear the Custom Send to Destination setting.
If your issue persists, you can delete the recurring event and re-create it with workspace and see the result.
Here is a blog you can have a look:

  • How to create separate Meeting Workspaces and attendees of the meetings from subsequent Meeting Workspaces and it's Attendees

    Hello Community
I created an "objective" and "Agenda" in a Meeting Workspace and added
    "Attendees".
Later on I created another "objective" and "Agenda" in a Meeting Workspace
but, the "objective/Agenda" and Attendees from the last "objective/Agenda"  remain visible.
The question is how do you create an objective/Agenda and apply the
attendees that will attend that "Meeting Workspace" and then later create
another "objective/Agenda" and enter the "Attendees" to that new Meeting Workspace?
Note: Another way to ask the question is how do you separate and save
each Meeting Workspace its "objective/Agenda" and its attendees subsequent
objective/Agenda and its attendees so that you can see each individual meeting
and the attendees of that meeting?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hi Shabeaut,
We could create/link to a meeting workspace when we create a calendar event as I posted above, we could also create a meeting workspace without creating an event.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-foundation-help/create-customize-and-delete-a-meeting-workspace-site-HA010378262.aspx
Here is the reference for Decision Meeting workspace:
    http://techwirenews.com/2013/01/15/using-decision-meeting-workspace-in-sharepoint-2010-office-365-part-ii/
In most cases, each meeting workspace is dedicated for certain meeting event in one to one relationship. You need to create difference workspaces for differenct meetings.

  • Workspace template selection

    Hi gents,
In my beekpr, within my enterprise i have a list of workspaces listed in the workspace templates. (basic team, Project, Beeki, community of practice etc.) When i create a workspace using outlook, i cannot select which type of workspace i want. The field is grayed out and the value is "team". Shouldn't i be able to select one of the above listed templates?
    thanks,

    Hi Ruben,
is this the way it is intended to be used? the selection of the workspace type is an administrator tool only? i though it was a user tool. Maybe i didnt understand properly.
anyhow, just a simple example that comes right to my mind, because i actually sent some of my management to view the BeeHive demo presentation on the site. In this demo http://www.oracle.com/pls/ebn/swf_viewer.load?p_shows_id=6951929&p_referred=undefined&p_width=800&p_height=600 , there is a nice web interface to view/modify/create your workspaces, i know, i know its coming in release 1.5, i beleive. Its not a big deal... but my bosses are expecting these types of tools now i have to explain to them that its not available yet.

  • Meeting Workspace Link in Outlook does Link to Correct Date

We use meeting workspaces frequently to manage meetings and we typically connect them to a Outlook recurring meeting.  In the past when you opened up the Outlook recurring meeting and clicked on the link it took you directly to the meeting workspace
instance of that date.  But, now it no longer links correctly and it does not create a unique instance id for each instance on the Outlook calendar.  Any thoughts on what would change in SharePoint that I doesn't allow Outlook to link to a specific
    meeting workspace date?

    Hi johnsonsrun,
i looked for some articles regarding this, perhaps you may try:
    http://www.lockworldherald.com/thewebforyou/2013/03/01/sharepoint-troubleshooting-meeting-workspaces-are-not-saving-date-specific-information-to-the-correct-date/
if for example, that you did upgrade from 2007 to 2010 environment, then the links may be broke when the upgrade process, and perhaps it may not be recoverable, to solve this issue, is to update the date for each meeting workspace that having the issue,
    or create new meeting workspace.

  • Sharepoint Meeting Workspace discontinued!

We widely use the Sharepoint Meeting Workspace Feature to organise and document several different meeting in our organisation.
Using Outlook 2013 I had to discover, that this very usefull item of sharepoint is missing and has been replaced by nothing!
Is there any workaround to use "old" sharepoint 2010 workspaces wehen using office 2013?
I personally think this was one of the most effective parts of sharepoint!!!!

    Hi,
It's supported to use the SharePoint Workspace 2010 with Office 2013 suite. You may install the SharePoint Workspace 2010 product only from Office 2010 suite:

  • Selecting a Meeting Workspace in a Sub Site

    Hi all,
I have created a bunch of Meeting Workspaces in a subsite of my SharePoint site (i.e., http://domain/team/workspace) and I was wondering how to create an Event in a Calendar located on the root site and select one of the meeting workspaces in the subsite.
At the moment it seems to only allow existing workspace selection within the scope of the current site. Is what I am asking even possible?
I understand that it may not be possible out of box, but could be achievable with some customization so I am wondering if anyone knows how or can at least point me in a direction with some ideas of how I can get this to work?
    Thanks in advance!
    Patrick

    Hello Alex Brassington
I had to convert a bmp to jpg so you could see the Meeting Workspace but whats happening is that in this
Decision Workspace you click "New Item" and give the meeting a name then under "Attendees" you click the
Checkbox and you enter the name of the people are to appear at the meeting lastly there are there is the Subject
and if you have any related documents relating to the meeting.
The problem is that when you want to schedule a subsequent meeting sometime in the future, the same
names information appears on the meeting Workspace.  So the question how do you save the old information
regarding the meeting and clear it so that you can enter the information related to the new meeting and the
people who are going to be attendees to that meeting?

  • Recurring Meeting with Meeting Workspace

I am referring to Sharepoint Services 3.0 under Windows Server 2003 for what it's worth.
I created a recurring (weekly) meeting on a sharepoint calendar.  When I created this meeting I attached it to a Meeting Workspace.  The meeting workspace was created, but in the workspace, there are new agenda's, documents, objectives, etc. each week.  This is a running production meeting, so we revisit the same set of agendas, documents, etc on a weekly basis.  Is there a way to have a recurring meeting attached to a meeting workspace that doesn't start fresh each week?
    Does this even make sense?

Was there a response to this question?  Having the same issue.

  • Show Meeting WorkSpace Calendar in another WorkSpace

    Hi,
At my organization, we have an area for Meeting Workspaces.
Within the Meeting WorkSpace, a user has created a list for a Calendar. Within this list, there is a Calendar called Governors Key Dates.
The Meeting WorkSpace has a number of Meeting WorkSpace lists. A large number of these lists needs to be able to display the "Governors Key Dates" calendar. I can easily create a hyperlink to the calendar but the user would like the actual calendar
showing as a web part (or similar) in a number of lists.
Do you guys have any ideas of how I can go about achieving this? I have tried manipulating the content web part to no avail.
    Thanks
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to show the calendar list in the Meeting Workspace.
I recommend to use the Event Calendar Listing Web Part (SharePoint 2010) to display the calendar list in the Meeting Workspace.
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/78532/Event-Calendar-Listing-Web-Part-SharePoint
Or you can create a SOAP data source of the calendar list in SharePoint Designer and then insert a data view web part of the calendar list in the page you need.

  • Workspace templates

    Hi,
I'd like to create a workspace template, but the "Store in repository" button is greyed out. Where do I put the xml so that it is available as a template choice?
    Thanks

    Hello -
You need to be logged in as a user with Application Administrator privileges to Store Workspace templates. If you are not, you can copy the XML, email to a user with App Admin privileges, and the app admin can login to Workspaces, click on Administrator tab-->Templates -->Store Template (and paste the XML).
Se more information in the Application Developers Guide - http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B15595_01/workspaces.101/b16234/toc.htm
