Meid what is the pupose if your phone is lost or stolen and someone erase it the data and set up an account with another carrier

My phone was stolen and the carrier told me that if someone found it. They could set up an account and activate my phone. Yes I have Icoud find my phone and it is on. They can set up an account and the carrier could not tell me who has my phone. What kind of mess is that. There has to be a way that MEID would not allow this to happen.

Why would your carrier be able to tell you who has your phone?
What does icloud have to do with it?
Please explain.
Find my iphone is NOT and has never been claimed to do anything in regards to theft.
This is nothing new or unusual at all. it is the same with any phone that is stolen.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

I, too, love everything about my phone. The other day I tried to crash my Z10 by running multiple apps and having videos running in the background. Do you think my Z10 showed any signs of slowing down? Nothing doing! It ran as smooth as silk. I'm very impressed.

Thank you. I was afraid of that. I backed up from iCloud. I looked at the iTunes one - it had four different ones on there; was hoping I could see because my grandson's phone was redone last year (his mom messed it up then) and didn't know anything was backed up to iTunes. He lost a lot of stuff that time. I'm just trying to get his phone back to par after someone changed his passcode on him as a joke and forgot what they changed it to a few days ago. You can look for it.
If you find it, you will have it back.
If you had find my iphone activated on the iphone BEFORE it was lost, then you may be able to track it.

What does the iPhone do before it's enabled with AT&T?

When you take the iPhone out of the box but haven't yet set it up via iTunes, what actually does it do? Does it just sit there with the Apple logo on it? Display a spinning wheel forever? Or does it connect to the network but not allow you to make calls?
The reason I ask is I live about a block from a *six block square* area where AT&T's coverage maps show there to be *no signal*.
As I know such maps are generated by computer based on +ideal conditions+, there's a very good chance I'd be at one bar, if not zero, at my home.
I'm curious if I'd have to go through the whole process of setting up an account with AT&T just to find out if I'd have any bars or not, or if just taking the phone out of the box and turning it on would be enough to check.

I think the easiest thing is just to ask someone else on AT&T if they have any reception problems in your area. The iPhone does seem to have a less sensitive antenna than other phones, so the signal strength may appear weaker. But having said that, it's impossible to compare the signal bar displays on different phones, as they all use their own particular algorithms to do this, as there is no standard. But generally, if other people are getting 5 bars, the you should be okay.

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

My Iphone 4 is telling me the same thing and I believe I figured out what the problem is. I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges. Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled." I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem. Unless you have a backup from which you can restore, yes you will lose all of your data and settings.
You should be able to sync your content back to the iPad if you have been syncing with iTunes all along. If you don't sync with iTunes, you can download much of your paid content again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID. This explains downloading past purchases.
