Memberset in bpc

what is member set in bpc?
plz elaborate on this.....

In BPC a memberset is simply a collection of members from the same dimension.  These members can be at a base level or at a parent, ansector, or other level and are formulated by the report developer (in EVDRE) to meet a requirement.  The term memberset in BPC should NOT be confused with the MDX definition of SET.
Example Dimension:
~ US
~~~ North
~~~~~~ New York
~~~~~~ New Jersey
~~~ South
~~~~~~ Alabama
~~~~~~ South Carolina
~~~ East
~~~~~~ Delaware
~~~~~~ Maryland
~~~ West
~~~~~~ California
~~~~~~ Nevada
Example MemberSet 1 {North, Nevada, Maryland}
Example MemberSet 2
Example MemberSet 3 {Alabama, Delaware, West}
Example MemberSet 4 {US, West, South Carolina}
When defining membersets in BPC (in EVDRE), the software allows us to use functions to dynamically create membersets.  BPC 7.5 memberset functions: MEMBERS, BASMEMBERS, BAS, DEP, ALL, SELF, NOEXPAND, GDEP, GBAS, GALL.  Further documentation can be found in the SAP BPC documentation.

  • MemberSet parametres in an EvDRE report/schedule (SAP BPC NW 7.5, SP03)

    Hi,
    I'm struggling combining MemberSet keywords and filtering values in an EvDRE schedule/report. The aim is to create an input schedule (or report) based on a hierarchy, but where a number of the dimension members are excluded (filtered). Below a brief, manipulated, expected result (bolded items are Parent nodes to members):
         ENTITY:1000
    Sales     (3,000.00)
    Sales     (3,000.00)
    COGS     1,800.00
    Cogs     1,800.00
    Royalties     300.00
    Revaluation of inventory
    Gross Profit Reductions     300.00
    Gross Profit Sales     (900.00)
    I can easily generate a flat list of members, correctly filtered (but useless), and also a correct filtered report including the appropriate nodes (but with the parents sitting before the members) . The problem occur when trying to include ParentAfter, which only works together with either ALL or MEMBERS and when they are included, the filtering doesn't work!
    Any suggestings on how to compose a MemberSet string, where both ParentAfter and filtering works?
    Søren

    Hello,
    filter the memberset with LDEP(2),PARENTHAFTER,SELF.
    Is a bit old this post but I hope that could be useful for everyone searching the same information.

  • Performance issue BPC 7.5 SP4

    Hi
    We have got performance issue after a upgrade from BPC 7.5 SP03 to BPC 7.5 SP04 Patch1.
    We got problem with EVDRE reports especially with large reports with a lot of settings in MemberSet or if we use filter on property in MemberSet.
    We have reports that expand in about 20 seconds on BPC 7.5 SP03 and takes about 25 minutes to expand after the upgrade to BPC 7.5 SP04 Patch1
    I have also made new EVDRE reports and vary simple reports works fine but when I increase the number of members to expand and the number of terms in MemberSet I works very slow.
    We have got about 10 applications in this Appset and the problem does only occur in one of this Applications
    I have processed all dimensions in the application and done full process and modify application without any error.
    I have also tried to create a log file on the EVDRE report to compare logs in the different applications and different ServicPacks but I only get data in the EVDRE_TRACE.TXT file and no data in the EVDRE_LOG.TXT file
    Anyone having the same problem?  Anyone who knows how to get the EVDRE_LOG.TXT file to work?
    Regards
    Fredrik

    Hi,
    Starting with 7.0 SP4 enable the logs is done into other way.

  • Dynamic Hierarchy - SAP BPC 7.5 MS

    Hello everyone. I am running SAP BPC 7.5 on the Microsoft Platform.
    The issue I am running into is that I have children entities that have two parent entities. The Entity Dimension has our traditional organization chart. However, our reports require an alternate hierarchy.
    Example:
    Company A is a child of Company ABC in the org chart
    however for reporting purposes
    Company A is a child of Company XYZ
    I need to pull in company XYZ in the report so that Company A is reported as being a part of it.
    I need to be able to set up something using a dimension property that will allow me to pull in this hierarchy into our reports, WITHOUT using expansions.
    The reason I cannot use expansions is some of the report will use the traditional org chart and the other portion of the report will use the alternate hierarchy.
    I there some way to do this without using expansions?
    I have setup a dimension property called "GROUP" that identifies the alternate hierarchy. However, the only way I know to pull it in the report is through the use of expansions in the "MembersSet" filter.
    I have also tried to use the "Dynamic Hierarchy Editor" only to discover that you have to define hierarchies for specific time periods, and still use expansions.
    Any suggestions? I feel like I am missing something.
    Thank you in advance.
    Will

    Hi Will,
    From what you describe I think an alternate (second/ H2) hierarchy is needed.
    You can try adding a second hierarchy to your Entity dimension member sheet (PARENTH2) to see if that meets your requirement.
    You can only create reports that have a hard-coded row or column key range or a dynamic row/column key range  defined in the memberset field.

  • Issue in the Reporting feature of SAP BPC NW 7.0

    Hi everyone,
    I am facing an issue with respect to the Reporting feature in SAP BPC NW 7.0 version. I am supposed to generate a P&L report using the EVDRE function.
    Issue-
    In the report that I have generated, the system is retrieving only a subset of the broad-level P&L heads. e.g. while BPC is retrieving the EBITDA, EBIT and PAT figures, it is not retrieving the Depreciation, Interest and Tax figures in the report. All the members that are not getting displayed are members with ACCTYPE= 'EXP', while the ones getting displayed are members with ACCTYPE= 'INC'.
    Even though the 'EXP' figures are not getting displayed, the amounts are getting deducted correctly. (i.e. even though Interest amount is not getting displayed in the report, the PBT figure being displayed is correctly calculated as PBT= EBIT-Interest).
    Also, I am able to see the amount in Interest payments, if I drill to the base-member elements (G/Ls in my case)
    Would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on what might be the probable issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sameer Rane

    Hi Nilanjan/All,
    Thanks a lot for your reply. I suppose, I was not very clear about my problem. The issue is with regards to the value for the Account-dimension members with ACCTYPE = 'EXP' and not with the members per se.
    Setting the MemberSet Filter addresses the issue of getting particular Dimension members in the report. In my case, I am already seeing all the necessary members in my report (I have explicitly created a list of all the members I want to see in my report in the MemberSet parameter). However, I am not able to see any values for these members for any of the time periods (even though the values exist).
    Also, I don't get any values for some of the INC items as well (e.g. OperationsIncome) inspite of the fact that the base member G/Ls under this account hold values.
    Would appreciate any help towards resolving this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sameer

  • Help needed in BPC Script

    Hello Experts,
    I have a requirement to migrate the BPC 7.5MS version scripts to BPC 10 NW Script.
    When I try to copy the existing working BPC 7.5 MS script to NW Script, I get validation error as BPC 10 script doesn't understand few lines.
    Below are the lines which are getting errors.Could you please help in giving me the equivalent BPC 10 NW commands for below lines
    1)*MEMBERSET (%ACT%,"Descendants([ACCOUNT].[H1].[PNC_GPW],999,leaves)")
    2)*Calculate_Difference = 0
    3) Will BPC 10 accept time=next(11) command? It is not giving any validation error
    I am also attaching the existing BPC 7.5MS script in this thread as below.
    Thanks,
    Senoy

    Hi Senoy,
    It's practically impossible to "migrate" MS scripts to NW - so many differences, each script have to be rewritten with understanding of business logic (not just script translation).
    1)*MEMBERSET (%ACT%,"Descendants([ACCOUNT].[H1].[PNC_GPW],999,leaves)")
    Something like:
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET ACCOUNT AS %ACT%=BAS(PNC_GPW)
    2)*Calculate_Difference = 0
    Not supported, always full value is send but delta is written
    3) Will BPC 10 accept time=next(11) command? It is not giving any validation error
    next is not supported, TMVL(11,%TIME_SET%) can be used in some cases.
    And please, read the standard help for script logic in BPC NW 10. All supported keywords are mentioned here:

  • How to setup the complex ownership relationship in SAP BPC

    Hi Buddies,
    I am new to SAP BPC. For legal consolidation, I am confused how to setup the ownership in BPC. The senario is following:
        P is the parent company, S1 and S2 are subsidiaries.
        1) P owned S1 80%, ownded S2 90%, meanwhile S1 owned P 20%
            How to setup this?
        2) P owned S1 80%, owned S2 70%, and S1 owned S2 10%.
            How to setup this?
    For above 2 senarioes, how to calculate the Minority Interest? ( Using different consolidation rules?)
    And if there are subgroup, how to see the subgroup result?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Will,
    Thanks for reply... Actually, I've tried that before(putting comma after the flag "all," presuming the 71st step shows that I should have 3 members in the memberset under the ICDatasrc dimension. But it also did not work.
    Nope, step 71 did not tell us to use piping and consequently expanding the col key range.
    Thanks...

  • How to use EvLST and EvSET in BPC NW 7.0

    I would like to list the members of dimension "Entity" by putting a filter on one of the property.
    In 5.1 I used EvLST and EvSET, which was working fine.
    But in NW 7.0 , I am not getting the list of dimension members eventhough the function returns TRUE.
    Any idea on how to use EvLST in NW 7.0 version?
    Thanks

    I regret to have to tell you that EVLST and EVSET are functions which are not supported currently in BPC 7.0 NW despite these being shown in the function list available from the action pane.  The explanation given by development was it is not possible to pass the MDX SetExpression to the shared query engine from the client front-end.
    I suggest you please try to use EVDRE and filter your entity dimension using properties in the Expansion MemberSet cell.  For example you could use CURRENCY='USD" AND CALC="N" to produce a list of entities which report in USD and are also not parent members.
    Hope you find a sufficient work around.

  • Multiple *memberset instructions in script logic results in combined *XDIM_

    If you have more than 1 *memberset instruction in a 5.1 sp2 environment the resulting XDIM_MEMBERSET will be created incorrectly. The two membersets will be combined into one XDIM_MEMBERSET instruction.  A simple illustration follows:
    *Note that the RPTCURRENCY XDIM_MEMBERSET combines RPT with LOB.
    Logic file (example):
    //MEMBERSETS
    *MEMBERSET(%LOB_ALL%, “Descendants([LOB].[LOB_ALL],999,leaves)”)
    *MEMBERSET(%ALLCURS%, “[RPTCURRENCY].AllMembers”)
    //XDIM_MEMBERSETS
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET LOB = %LOB_ALL%
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET RPTCURRENCY = %ALLCURS%
    Compiled Logic file (LGX) (EXAMPLE):
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET LOB = LOB_BLK,LOB_BYP,LOB_COR,LOB_SEC,LOB_DOM,LOB_ESC,LOB_GCO,LOB_GCV,LOB_GLS,LOB_GVI,LOB_GVR,LOB_INT,LOB_MAJ,LOB_NA,LOB_POP,LOB_PRE,LOB_VAL
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET RPTCURRENCY = LC,USD,USD_PLAN,USD_PYATCYPLAN,USD_PYATFYPLAN, LOB_BLK,LOB_BYP,LOB_COR,LOB_SEC,LOB_DOM,LOB_ESC,LOB_GCO,LOB_GCV,LOB_GLS,LOB_GVI,LOB_GVR,LOB_INT,LOB_MAJ,LOB_NA,LOB_POP,LOB_PRE,LOB_VAL
    *SOLUTION:*
    This issue exists in BPC 5.1 SP2 and can be tracked by bug number 792872.
    This issue is fixed in BPC 5.1 SP3. Please refer to Note # 1160727 for more information.

    Hi, as far as I know the BAS option does not work for XDIM_MEMBERSET in the version you are working. I would use teh *SELECT option as an alternative to tackle this issue via some properties.
    Hope this helps.

  • NEED ADVICE about Inserting a custom formula column in EXPANSION memberset

    Dear all:
    I am asked to create a report with TIME(col), ACCOUNT(col), PRODUCT(row), where ACCOUNT stores Beginning Inventory Amt, COS, etc.
    The problem I am having is that the user requests to have a place to show COS ratio column. COS ratio value is derived from ACCOUNT COS and ACCOUNT NETSALES of my ACCOUNT MEMBERSET.
    I tried various ways but was unable to keep the formula in EVDRE so this COS ratio column's formula goes with the rest of the expansion.
    The result I want is something like below, where NETSALES and COS are my dimension members and RATIO is Excel formula STDCOST/COS... As the report expands by different TIME hierachy (i.e. 2008.total, 2008.h2, 2008.q3), RATIO is expanded accordingly.
    Is this doable in EVDRE?
                                       2008.10                                      2008.11                                      2008.12
                    NETSALES     COS     RATIO         NETSALES  COS   RATIO          NETSALES   COS      RATIO

    Sarcasm?
    You can create a hundred different evdre templates and still not know everything about evdre and its functionality keeps growing. Nothing beats experience here. Iu2019m not able/allowed to provide examples, perhaps one of your colleagues? Or another forum participant?
    1) The online help is good and the Best Practice guide is also very good. I canu2019t send the evdre guide and it is not published by SAP. You can get the BPC for Office Useru2019s Guide;
    Support Portal u2013 Release & Upgrade Info u2013 Install & Upgrade Guides u2013 SAP BPC u2013 (Select your BPC release)
    Office User Guide
    https://websmp101.sap-ag.de/instguidescpm-bpc
    Grab the BPC 7 version as well, it has some better samples.
    To fully capitalize on the fullness of evdre you also need an expert level knowledge of excel, (and I donu2019t mean lots of experience). Evdre is the combination of BPC functionality and excel working in union with each other. VBA is also important in very complex situations.
    2&3) This is one approach. One of the nice features in evdre is the ability to insert excel formulas within a data range. You may need to adjust your row/col key range to address your needs.
    There is nothing really wrong with using dimension logic. Itu2019s important to understand you will take a performance hit somewhere and you should test to determine if the performance hit is within an acceptable range. I have one client with a few hundred accounts with formulas and there application works great and the performance is not to terrible.

  • BPC - EVDRE error - values on YEAR level do not appear

    Hi everyone.
    I have a Time dimension with YEAR, QUARTER and MONTH level.
    When I do an EVDRE report and I select an especific YEAR (ex. 2011) and I set the MemberSet Expansion to SELF, it didn´t bring any value.
    On the other hand, when I set SELF, DEP or even SELF,DEP,BAS, the values on the QUARTER and MONTH cells appear just fine!
    PS: The Option SumParent is blank.
    I've done a test with EVGET, selecting TIME:2011, and it brings the value with no problem. So this proves that the Time Hierarchy is working fine, and the problem is on EVDRE.
    Any sugestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    what is your BPC verion & patch ?
    I also facing similar issue(bpc7.5nw sp10) i'm getting only at base level,  not at parent level(quarter/year).

  • BPC 7.5 MS Drill Down works on one dimension in rows but not the other

    Good day,
    Working in BPC 7.5 MS.  I have a piped report with 3 dimensions in rows.  Members in the first dimension are hard-coded in the expand range.  The second dimension is a combination of SELF and DEP members.  The third is set to SELF.  In our original AppSet, I can double-click drill down on both the second and third dimensions without issue.
    I've re-created this report in a new AppSet (same BPC version).  All settings are essentially identical (I've double and triple checked).  The drill down works on the second dimension, but not the third.  I've run out of places to look to find the problem.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kim

    It took a while but I finally found some quiet time to re-visit this issue.  Thank you for the suggestions above.  Ultimately I verified that the hierarchy, member selection and tables were all ok.
    My next step was to create a new EVDRE with the same members and slowly factor in the piping, membersets, etc.  Drill down worked appropriately.  So that told me something else was at work.
    Turns out the problem was with one of the 'display' columns to the right of the row key range.  These columns use formulas to display a triangle if the member isn't calc, thus giving the end user a visual clue that you can drill down on the member.  Long story short, BPC just didn't like that formula.  A minor change (along with some conditional formatting to replace the piece of formula that was removed) eliminated the problem.  Drill down is now working.

  • Dimension attributes in BPC

    Hi Gurus,
    Can dimension attributes be used as selection or filtering criteria inside BPC?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raffi

    Raffi,
    I'm assuming that you are asking about filters for reporting purposes.  In this case, the answer is "yes" (it is "yes" for script logic as well, for that matter).
    In order to build an expansion based on dimension properties in an EVDRE, open the control panel and right-click on the "MemberSet" field for the dimension you want to expand with a filter.  Then choose the "EVDRE: Build Filter" menu item.
    If you are not using EVDRE you can do the same sort of thing with many of the other BPC Excel functions including EvEXP, which allows you to specify an MDX filter on dimension member properties (among other things).

  • MEMBERSET IN EVDRE

    Hello,
    I'm trying to generate a memberset for an evdre report.
    My syntax is : YEAR="2008" OR (YEAR="2009" AND PERIOD="JAN")
    This is just a simple example for the time dimension.
    This used to work. But now in SAP BPC 7 SP2 patch 1 this is not working anymore.
    If I'm not mistaken this is also not working in 5.1 SP5.
    Anybody else has the same problem? Any solutions?
    Kind regards,
    Sam

    Try,
    YEAR=2008,YEAR = 2009 AND PERIOD = JAN
    or
    YEAR=2008,2009.JAN
    OK?
