MemoryManager.cpp 437
Hi All,
I'm getting a "Labview crash in Memory Manager.cpp line 437" message. I followed the theads related to this error, but it seems to me I'm not in the situation there described. I'm not using Labview Real Time and I'm working with LV 8.6.1 professional development system + the dsc module. The operating system is XP over a vmware server.
My application is composed by several VIs running concurrently on two set of shared variables bound to a periodic I/O server and to an OPC server. One of the running VI periodically (every 3 hours) read the Citadel database to retrieve few arrays of data stored by the shared Variable Engine and plot them. The NI web server is enabled to allow the remote display (only snapshots) of some front panels.
The crash happens randomly, after hours of run and then it is quite difficult to riproduce it. Due to the several VIs running togheter, I have no idea on that one is causing the problem.
So I'm here just to ask if some of you is getting a similar error and if exists a fix or a work around.
LV log file does not tell me much more. I copy it here below, hoping it can help.
Any suggestion is welcome !

Hi Matteo,
thank you for the reply and the suggestion.
Yes, yesterday I built the executable of one of the VI I believe could be the source of the problem. This workaround seems to work, but, as I said, the problem happens randomly, so .. we are still crossing the fingers.
Anyhow this weakness of the memorymanager still remains, hoping somebody can in some way address the problem.
cheers

LabVIEW Real-Time and Remote Front Panel MemoryManager.cpp line 437 error
Hi all,
I'm using a smartcamera (NI 1742) with LabVIEW Real-Time 8.6.
When I look at the Front Panel with the web browser and I close the browser or I Stop the executable, I always get this error: MemoryManager.cpp line 437. I've checked if someone else had this error, but I guess I'm the only person who got this error. I saw someone who had the MemoryManager.cpp line 406, but mine isn't on this line.
The application works well, but when I got the error, I need to reboot the smartcam to get it works. In my application, I use the Modbus library and I read/write binary file in the hard disk of the smartcam....
Anyone knows the solution?
Thank you very much
StephanieHi again,
Still didn't find the problem on my side. Here's a picture of my code. If I put the code surrended in red at place (1), I don't get the error, but if I put the code at place (2), I get the error. Why oh why....?
I get the error when I close the browser or click Back button of the browser or Stop the application with the red dot or stop the application with the Quit button on my front panel.
This morning I found a post on this forum about getting an error using Property node and Remote panel (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=252705). I did what they suggest: wire the property output to an indicator and it works (disable "Enable automatic error handling dialod" didn't work... I don't know why)... until I put extra code in my VI.
I really need help please!
Thank you
Stephanie

Fatal Internal Error MemoryManager.cpp
I've created a sequence file in teststand that uses the sub vi's for
reading out config files. If I run this on my development machine
there is no problem.
I tried to deloy everything onto a new target machine. I start to run
the sequence and i'm able to execute the 'Open Config Data.vi'. The
next step is to read out some data with the vi 'Read Key(String).vi'
but this creates the error. I get a Fatal Internal Error :
"MemoryManager.cpp" , line 406 LabVIEW 8.5.
What could cause this problem?I have been struggling with this error today. It appears that under some circumstances LabView does not automatically recompile all VIs requiring referencing a typedef when the typedef is changed. In my case, the problematic routine was one in which the typedef did not appear as a control, indicator or diagram constant. An array of the typedef was an output from one SubVI that was an input to another. The first routine had a case structure around it with some cases where the output took a default value. I assume the default typedef output is the core of the problem in my case. Manually recompiling the routine (or making any code changes to it) solved the problem.
One could probably do a mass recompile of the whole VI hierarchy to solve this problem, but that's undesirable in a large program that is being developed by a team. It is at least something to try if you are running into this error.
Unfortunately I have not been able to make a simple program that reproduces this problem. I have attached some code but it does not make LabView crash. However, bad pointer dereferences are tricky things to debug because the severity depends on where you end up when you dereference. (In my production code, LabView was trying to read location 0xFFFFFFFF; Windows killed it). So this example could be causing silent corruption. Or my suspicions could be ungrounded and the bug may lie elsewhere.
I do notice that when I change the typedef and quit labview, labview offers to save the TLVI and the two subVIs that contain the typedef control, but not the routine I suspect is causing the problem. ("Routine that doesn't recompile.vi" in my example.)

Erreur "MemoryManager.cpp" ligne 566 et "Linker.cpp" ligne 1775
Bonjour,
"Erreur interne fatale :"MemoryManager.cpp", ligne 566 version LabVIEW 10.0.1 Tout travail non enregistré sera perdu.
Merci d'avance,duplicate

Hi all,
I would like to work with a LabVIEW program that I did not programm by myself.
In this programm an external DLL needs to be called. in the Momente this dll ist called with the "Call Library Dunction Node" LabVIEW crashes with this Error Message:
DAbort 0x37C03D in MemoryManager.cpp
Attached is the entire Log.
The programm runs on the computer of the original programer.
I have never handeled with DLLs or something like that before, so I have absolutely no idea how to rsolve this problem.
Thanks for your help!

lvlog.txt 2 KBA DLL can be compiled by different compilers. By "generic" C DLL, i refer to ANSI C (so no C++, no Borland C or something else).
My question is raised as parameters, esp. arrays and strings, can lead to this behavior when used in the wrong way (including "Calling Convention").
Also, interfacing with the LV memory manager can lead to crashes like this, but this wouldn't be a "generic" DLL as it binds to LV (due to LV API calls).
Without a better knowledge on the DLL and its functions, there is not much we can help you with.
Where does the DLL come from?

LabVIEW 8.6.1 crashes
Good Day All,
I've got an application where I'm getting intermittent crashes, sometime when in edit mode, sometimes when my program is actually running. I have gotten a couple of "MemoryManager.cpp line 437" crashes, but more often, but still intermittently, I just get the window that says something has happened to LabVIEW and it needs to be terminated. When you click on the more information link it pops up a window that says:
"AppName:labview.exe AppVer: 8.6.0.4001 ModName: Unknown
ModVer.: 0.0.0.0 Offset 6f636974"
This happens when running the application or when editing. It may happen twice in an hour, or after several hours of running. I've watched the memory and thread usage in "Task Manager" and they seem to be stable.
The program has two main parts, a UI that at the beginning of the test run uses a .NET call to read back data over the network from the Unit Under Test, parse the returned XML string (using string functions, no "XML parsing" functions from LabVIEW or Windows) and a user interface to start the program. The UI sends a message over a queue to the "Test Engine" which then, depending on the "test recipe" installs and launches the appropriate test program using a "Call by Reference Node". The test program makes measurements of the UUT and saves the results to an Excel file using NI Report vi's from the NI Report Generation Toolkit. The measurements are visa calls to standard "rack and stack" instruments like spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
I've done a moderately deep search on the NI site, haven't found anything that looks like the issue, need ideas how to trap this beast and eliminate it.
I hope that many of the major players being at NIWeek won't impact the response time. It seems like those years I haven't been able to attend are the ones where I hit a snag like this one. I guess the moral is that I should always attend
Thanks in advance,

Solved!
Go to Solution.Looking at this specific error, LabVIEW's memory manager has decided that a memory handle is invalid. One case in which this can happen is when different versions of LabVIEW are in use simultaneously and a data handle is passed from one version of LV to another. One such scenario would be:
LabVIEW 2009 calls the function 'myFunc' from 'foo.dll'
'foo.dll' was built using LabVIEW 8.6
'myFunc' expects an array of data, passed as a LabVIEW array handle
The problem arises in this case because the array handle allocated by the LabVIEW 2009 instance of the LV memory manager is sent to a VI running in the LabVIEW 8.6 Run-Time Engine, which has the LabVIEW 8.6 version of the memory manager. Because the data is an array handle, and LabVIEW may need to resize the handle, the code in the LV 8.6 Run-Time inspects the data handle to see if its memory manager considers it a 'good' memory handle (i.e. one that it allocated itself). It discovers that the LV 8.6 Run-Time didn't allocate the handle, and, being mistrustful of data from other memory managers ( ;-) ) it has no choice but to abort the application. It's either that or corrupt memory.
In such cases, a workaround is to pass array pointers (or strings) that cannot be resized -- an unsavory situation if the underlying implementation must resize the array (or string). The workaround in that case is more complex - e.g.. having two functions - a 'preflight' that tells you how big the output will be, and the 'actual' function that requires a properly sized output buffer.
For more complex data structures (e.g.. clusters) the workaround is to break apart the cluster into individual, simple types that can be passed as pointers to data or simple scalar values.
Whether this is at all similar to your case is unclear - it sounds like there are several component layers involved with different technologies. But the crash itself is still that LabVIEW 8.6 has gotten a memory handle from somewhere that's *not* been allocated by the LabVIEW 8.6 memory manager.
One thing you could do with Process Explorer and similar tools is determine if there are multiple versions of LabVIEW in the main process. For example, if both LabVIEW.exe and one or more lvrt.dll instances from different locations on disk are in memory, you've found a red flag. The quest then is to find out which components in your software stack are responsible for bringing in those different versions of LabVIEW, and how they're interacting via code.

intvsteve

Pure virtual function call error while saving the vi.
Hi everybody,
I'm using LabVIEW 8.6 to create the applications. I got "fatal error: memorymanager.cpp: line 437 and Pure virtual function call error: R6025, while i try to save the vi. Also no DAQ cards are interfaced with my PC.
How can i rectify this error?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi solutions,
the simplest solution would be to recreate the VI from scratch. Yes, really!
You can also try to copy the block diagram to a new VI, this might help too. Or to clean up your VI be creating subVIs…

Using call library function on a dll file created in an old version of labview
So I'm trying to update an old labview program to work in labview 2012. Everything converted over just fine but labview will always crashoverwrote some while using a library function in a DLL that was compiled using labview 8.5. Labview exits, stating that it vital memory area. It passes an array of data to the library call and an empty array for output. I thought I could get around this problem by changing my code to initialize the array being passed in so that it would be large enough to hold all the expected output. Now instead of overwritting areas of memory it shouldn't, I get a pop up message that says:
fatal internal error
memorymanager.cpp line 406
8.5.1.f5
So it appears because I don't have the ability to recompile the DLL file it runs off of the 8.5 runtime instead of the more recent one. Is there any thing I can do about this?rjpierce wrote:
So I've been trying to figure out a way around this on my own while waiting on a response. From what I'm reading, a dll created in one version of the labview runtime can't be used by a different labview runtime. Am I correct in this? I feel like I must be mistaken since that's basically the opposite of how a dll should work. If nothing else works I have access to the original code for the DLL but it requires the control and simulation toolkit. I would like to avoid having to recompile the DLL since it was put in to a DLL to avoid the need for the toolkit to begin with.
Your problem most likely is that you try to pass native datatypes to the DLL function? That only can work if the caller and callee use the same LabVIEW runtime engine. Otherwise the memory block created in the memory manager of the caller will be accessed by the memory manager in the callee and bad things happen. Instead you should define the DLL function to use standard C datatypes (Pointer to C array) and also make sure to allocate the according buffer in the caller for all output array parameters.
An even more elegant way would be to completely abandon the DLL approach and call the according functions directly in LabVIEW. Then you won't have the problems about mismatched runtime engines. Passing C array pointers to a DLL is less performant than passing native datatypes, but if you use native datatypes you have to make sure the DLL is compiled in the same LabVIEW version as the one you call it from.

UDS 4.0 once again: Could not add "DB11.DBB6" to the response list.
Hi,
once again we have heavy trouble with UDS 4.0 connecting to a SINUMERIK OPC server.
Unfortunately the OPC server does not support browsing. GroupList and TagList returns nothing.
The facts:
- MII 12 on Windows Server 2003
- UDS 4.0 SP1 on same server.
- OPC connectivity has been tested with Matrikon Explorer. Tag has been added manually (remember, browsing not possible).
- Creating UDS instance works. UDS can see remote OPC server and is able to create an instance from it.
- Data server has been created in MII 12 to connect to UDS.
- Connection status to UDS is ok. Can also be seen as Debug file shows query details.
- TagQuery has been created with adding the tag manually (browsing not possible).
When we try to test the query we always get the error message
Could not add "DB11.DBB6" to the response list.
and
No Tag selected
The strange thing ist that, if we use a non existing tag like "test123" then the same error occurrs instead of "No valid tags requested".
Here you can find the debug file of UDS:

The Debug file is from a Windows XP Professional system. But the same thing happens with the UDS installed
on Windows Server 2003 (x64).
The following config variations have been tried:
- synchronous / asynchronous
- Cache mode "None"
- Threading model STA / MTA
Any suggestions?
Regards,
MatthiasHi Mathais,
I assume you have installed the OPC enum services in the same machine where xMII UDS is running.
Also make sure that the browsing mode is set to true in the OPC Server.
We had the same issue...and were receiving the same error...but once we changed teh Browing mode at teh OPC server to true, tag quesries started working....
Hope it helps...

Injecting a DLL into an EXE?
I'm trying to simply inject a dll into a running excutable.
Similar to this: http://www.mpgh.net/forum/292-combat-arms-spammers-injectors-multi-tools/399433-extreme-injector-v1-... - Scroll down a bit.oliver_alarm2079 wrote:

Hi, oliver_alarm2079,
Your question is "too common", and looks like "beginner" question. What is your final goal for code injection? Assumed, that if you thinking about this - you're experienced user with deep LabVIEW and OS understanding. In parallel topic I see then you trying to wrote the injection utility in LabVIEW. Impossible is nothing, but LabVIEW is pretty high level tool, so using MSVC is the best and easiest way (you will need this in any case, because for code injection you will need to know the addressed of the hooked functions - its impossible in LabVIEW directly).
Basic of code injection - is routing DLL calls from external application into your code. The easiest way is - use own proxy dll with same export as original and __declspec(naked), then perform jumps into original code. Another possible way is hooking with MS Detours. The CreateRemoteThread/WriteProcessMemory technique is also pretty advanced. But from your code I see that you haven't enough experience, sorry about that.
In the past I've used code injection with LabVIEW only once. It was used for debugging. I've got trouble with my builded exe. LabVIEW Run-Time sporadically throws internal exception at line 663 in MemoryManager.cpp in large application. So, I wrote my own DLL, then inject the code into DSSetHandleSize (function where exception occurred), then trace all calls and finally successfully figured out which LabVIEW code was involved.
What I can recommend to you - proceed to www.codeproject.com and search for keywords like "code injection, proxy dll, ms detours". You will get much more information about this.

I am sorry to hear you are having issues reinstalling your operating system. I am providing you with a link here to a document titled Recovery Disk Creation Error Codes (Windows 7). Now document is for creating the recovery disks but the error is showing up in your error log (0xe0ef002f). The error according to the document is the File/directory does not exist. It looks like a function call Deploy() is attempting to access this File/directory and is unable to.
This leads me to think that it is the disks that you are using. It would stand to reason anyways as you state you have tried this on multiple hard drives. A good test would be to check to see if your error in the error log is the same every time. If it is happening at the same point each time then simply order a new set of discs from here.
I hope this resolves your installation issue. Thank you for posting your question on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

LabVIEW Class crash - ntdll.dll access violation
Hi,
When I close my LV11SP1f2 I always get a warning.
It didn't bother me until a vi I wrote that uses a class with nothing out of the ordinary started crashing my LV.
The crash says that: "DAbort 0x37C03D in MemoryManager.cpp"
I sent the log files to the local support and they saw that the common issue between my logs is an access violation in ntdll.dll.
Any operation that uses the property nodes of that crazy class fails, sometimes with a crash and sometimes with a error that sends me to a bundle by name in the autocreated property node.
I rewrote the project with the class and there is no error.
Sending the crashing project to another computer gave no error.
Before I go on and investigate windbg to search for a conflicting app and finally formatting my entire computer could some1 help? Please...
I attached several logs for example.
Thanks in advance,
GoofyWires.

ea2c40ef-056d-41ed-a4c5-9cf4bc6666fc.zip 494 KBI did a clean format and reinstalled LabVIEW 11.0.1f2 without adding many of the add-ons from VIPM and without installing the rest of my shortwave, yet, the crash is still here!
I was able to reproduce it on my pc:
1. I have a class that contains two children of another class which each contain another class with a class inside it.
2. I accessed the classed through property nodes.
3. I then went on and deleted a private data from the first class control, deleted its property nodes and added a new private data to that class control and added the property nodes for it.
4. I updated the vi that used the classes to stop using the deprecated property node and start working with the new one.
5. I did a "save all" and run the vi. All OK!
6. I closed LabVIEW and reopened the project and run the vi which is not broken! LabVIEW crashes!!!
I guess the complexity of the class is not the issue and it can be reproduced in a much simpler way.
Yet, since I bet the scenario caused you to raise an eye brow I'll give an example as an analogy:
File Handler class contains ASCII Read class and ASCII Write class which inherit from class ASCII.
Class ASCII parent contains class Headers while class Header contains class Data.
Thus, class ASCII Handler will use class ASCII Read/Write to give a high level simple interface while during the read/write the inner ASCII Read, for example, will add to the Header class in it the read data which will in turn be added to the array in the private data of class Data.
I'll try and reproduce it on a different pc and send the local NI support the code and way to reproduce.
I see two possibilities:
1. Something is wrong with my new Dell PC.
2. LabVIEW doesn't handle and propagate correctly changes in a class to all the vis that use it. Maybe changing the array size in a class overrides some memory since the class can't change its size.
Please let me know if this rings a bell.
Update: I coundn't reproduce the crash on my pc with a simpler case. There is something missing...
I'll try to replroduce with the complex class on a different pc and if it crashes I'll simply send my original code. -

I don't build array continuously. I just build a few queues. I am sorry the program is too large to show it to you. I have read the dump file. It seems like memory overflow. Do you think so? But it seems like there is no chance for memory overflow in Labview. The dump file is as below:
