Menu accelerator showing text, not symbol

Hi,
I set an accelerator on an action that I use in a menu item like this:
action.putValue(ACCELERATOR_KEY, KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_PERIOD, InputEvent.CTRL_MASK));In the menu item, I get something like:
<menu text> Ctrl-PERIOD
note the word period is spelt out in text but I want it to show:
<menu text> Ctrl-.
i.e. using the period symbol
Can anyone help me with this?
I know this may be a LAF thing but if so, is it possible to tweak my current LAF , maybe via UIManager to do this?

I think I have some progress:
I see that KeyEvent get the string like this:
Toolkit.getProperty("AWT.period", "Period");
and Toolkit gets the value for the AWT.period key from the file:
sun.awt.resources.awt.properties
However, I dont know how to find this file in order to edit it.
Maybe I can set this property programatically at the start of the app but I dont know how to do this; Toolkit does not have a setProperty() method.
Any ideas?

I've found some Musical Note symbols in Apple's own 'Symbols' font, but I can't find any way of actually using them - when I select this font in DVD Studio Pro's 'Show Fonts', all I'm getting is normal plain text.
I've been fiddling around with this for some time now, and I've also lost myt original fonts tool in DVD Studio Pro - I now have just a drop down fonts display and vcan't get the original 'Show Fonts' window back.

Menu Bar - Show Text

I have an addon which comes with a toolbar - the buttons on the toolbar appear as icon and text.
When I move these buttons from the addon toolbar to the default Menu Bar - the text disappears.
If I use customize and select show icons and text, then all the toolbars are altered.
I just want to change the Menu Bar so it shows icons and text - is this possible?

Dock icon showing 'do not' symbol

After upgrading to OS X Lion 10.7.3, I noticed several dock icons with 'don't' symbol. What is it?

Great choice. So basically, unless you have something vital to your workflow that is showing as no longer supported, try updating it, otherwise uninstall them. I think I only had about two old Plc programs when I updated AppleWorks being one, so really no noticeable dig fence in workflow and much prefer working in Lion.

My menu toolbar shows icons with a text to the right of the icon describing it. How do I change the settings so that just the icons show. I'm pretty sure it can be done as I've set my desktop for icons only.

Spy menu only showing some items and properties not available

I am having some issues with the spy menu. In order to try and fix my issues I built the menu from scratch again on one of my pages. Everything works now on that page and when I upload it to the server, it is all there.
However, when I then copy and paste the menu to all the other pages and upload the the server, the submenu doen't show anymore. When I go and troubleshoot it and highlight the menu in its entirety and click properties, no properties will show. On the working page, this ation delievers me a properties bar where I can + or - menu items. Why is this? As this must be why the submenu is not showing either?
The page where everything works is this (See sub menu under coaching clinics) http://www.golifecoaching.com.au/go-beyond-registration-test but on every other page on this website, this submenu disappears.
Can anyone help? I am tearing my hair out and don't fancy having to build the menu from scratch for every page. There has to be a better way.

Disclaimer: I am new to coding in general and this is my first attempt to help someone.
I think the properties bar with the + - has to do with the javascript coding that is generated when you create a new tag, and it is located near the bottom of the page just before the closing body tag.
looks something like this:

var MenuBar2 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar2", );
</script>
so dont forget to copy that over too. Also, check the CSS that is associated within each page and make sure they are all in the same style.
P.S. Have you considered using a template for the menu bar so you dont have to copy it over each time?

Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Why does my bookmarks toolbar start hiding my bookmarks when i add more bookmarks to the toolbar? how do i make all of them show and not have a drop down menu?

i had recently installed new firefox and instead of my 20 bookmarks showing up all in the 1 toolbar, only 10 are shown and the rest are hidden to the right with the ">>" button.
how the heck do i change it back to what i previously had? this is driving crazy! i want them all to show and not have to click the ">>" button and go through the drop down menu

If I understand your question, you are trying to update your iPhone, but you are seeing an error message that iTunes for Windows is not installed, is that right? The first step is to get iTunes successfully installed on your computer. Then backup the iPhone before updating the iOS software.
Are you seeing any error messages when you try to install iTunes for Windows?

Photoshop CS6 panels/tools not showing text descriptions.

While working on a project of mine yesterday the panels that display eraser and pen tool etc. stopped showing text. I can still see the hidden tools, but can no longer see text. I am quite familiar with most tools, but not all so it is a pain when I need to try that oddball tool I don't use regularly. I'm not sure what happened, but if anyone knows or had similar issues that can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here are two "Menu" add-ons which alter the Menu bar into one button.
With this one you can move the new "Menu" button into the Customize Palette, and then when you hit the '''Alt''' key the "Menu will open down from the Titlebar on the left. Won't affect the action of the Firefox button when you de-select the Menu Bar.<br />
