Merging vhdx & .avhdx with powershell error ....

i m trying to merge a vhdx & avhdx with powershell
the codes are
Run diskpart.
Enter: select vdisk file="<full path to the latest differencing disk>"
A differencing disk ends in either .avhd or .avhdx.
Enter: merge vdisk depth=n
n will be the number of parent files you want to merge. Since I had two parents, one .vhd and one .avhd for this .avhd file, I used depth=2.
the problem is whenever i try to select the differencing disk in step 2 , i get an error ...device not ready
if i changed the avhdx to vhdx ... i get the same error
i unchecked the read only ... gave full permissions to vm machine and user ... still get error
please advice or if you suggest a third party that can migrate the vhdx with its avhdx

You will need a backup to go back to a valid database.
Snapshots are not supported in Production and cause in few cases issues and behaviour like you are encoutering now.
You have to avoid using snapshots in production, snapshots are nice and they unction propely in 99% of the cases. You were not lucky. If you want to use snapshots with a VM for a reason (test update or a new configuration), backup your VM before.

I have 2 DB's and I would like to merge records from A into B with dml error logging through a db link.
Exemple:
merge into B@dblink
using (select ... from A where...)
when matched then
when not matched then
log errors into err$_A reject limit unlimited;
When I use this, and exception is thrown:
ORA-02291: integrity constraint (B.constraint_name) violated - parent key not found
ORA-02063: preceding line from dblink
I've got no idea of what causes this.
Could anyone please help me ?

I've well understood that its was a foreign key violation, and I guess that's an error in the source: wee make only logical deletes, and I'm quite sure the problem is there.
Anyway, I really would understand why dml error logging doesn't work in this case.
I'll investigate and keep you informed.

Error when attempting to merge into table with RLS - ORA - 28132

i've encountered an "ORA-28132 - Merge into syntax does not support security policies" when attempting to merge into a table with RLS defined on it.
i looked around and found this [discussion |http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:259415261270] on ask tom.
according to the thread - this was a bug in 9i. in 10g merge is possible only if the policy returns "null" and in 11g it was finally fixed.
*i have been able to merge into tables with rls in 10gR2 in some cases.*
i would like to know if anyone has some more information about this error. when can i merge into tables with RLS ?

Never.
The bug was that it did work sometimes in 10g i.e. it should always raise an error.
It's something that I've always found a bit odd and frustrating - that MERGE and RLS policy should not be compatible.
But bottom line is that you shouldn't be using MERGE on table with RLS policy.

Office 2013 VL and app-v 5 SP2 on RDS server - package add fails with script error

We have used the MS Office Depolyment Tool for click-to-run to download the latest Office 365 version, and flatten it into an app-v 5 package - not a problem.
When we try to add the package to our client machine (Server 2008R2 running the app-v 5 SP2 client software), it fails with an message that a script has failed and not returned a 0 code. We have not added any scripting to this automatically created
package, so it seems that the app-v client does not like the "official" package. Any hints and tips gratefully accepted, thanks
App-v client has scripting enabled.

We believe this last error message is the kicker, but can't debug any further.

Just to validate the problem, I started again.
I have just downloaded the latest ODT from MS, and then downloaded the latest Office 2013 packaged - volume license. Then created the app-v package - all went perfectly, no error messages. Uploaded the package to the app-v 5 server and published
it. I have made NO changes to any of the files.
I have just built a brand new Windows Server 2008R2 Datacentre VM, patched it to the hilt, and installed the RDS role, powershell 3 and appv 5.0 SP2 client for RDS.
I then use powershell as above:
          scripting unrestricted
          app v client scripting enabled
         app v server added
          global and user update enabled
         add-appvclient package "url of office package.appv"
             and received exactly the same error message.
It is not complaining that scripting is not allowed, it is complaining that the script is invalid.
Help!!!!

I'd like to reply to this that I also have (or had) the same issue. The "AppV Error Code: 100000000C."
For me it was a script that I tried to call from a network drive:

I tried using the sharename, I tried using vbs instead of ps, I tried to rename the files it was copying (it was a dll) I tried a different destination (it was Windows\sysWoW64)
In the end it seems to be the AppV client does not have access to the drive/share, even though 'everyone' had read rights.
When I changed the location of my script and file to C:\users\administrator\Desktop\copy.ps1 the appv added just fine.
I'm looking at what to do, probably give all domain computers access to the share\folder because AppV client seems to use the system account for it's actions (also apparant if you call the var %username% from within the appv!), and because my destination is
sysWoW64 users are not allowed to write there (so the userConfig.xml is not an option)
So in short: for me it was a NTFS rights issue, the AppV client is not allowed to go and load the .ps1 that is defined in the deploymentConfig.xml
Check your
ProPlusVolume_en-us_zh-cn_x86_DeploymentConfig.xml, it probably calls something that the system account has no access to

Performance with PowerShell Workflow intiation

I have a workflow I want to initiate with a PowerShell script (all items in a given view), and it gets stuck on "Starting" for 3 minutes or more. When I run the workflow manually it kicks off right away (and also completes within a second
or two). Since the workflow is getting initiated, why does it stay on "Starting" and complain of heavy workload? How do I get a PowerShell initiation to match the performance of the manual initiation?
Background: We are running SharePoint 2013 and our site collection is in 2010 compatibility mode. We have separate App and web front end servers. I am running the powershell script on the WFE server. The powershell
script is very basic.
Test #1
Manual Initiation: Starts right away (within a second), and completes with Status "Completed"
PowerShell Initiation: Get Status "Starting" when PowerShell script is run with below message
"Note: Due to heavy load, the latest workflow operation has been queued. It will attempt to resume at a later time."
After 2-3 minutes, workflow completes with Status "Completed" (so I know my simple script works)
The above test was just with a workflow with a single step - "Stop the workflow and log 'workflow complete.'"
Test #2
I tried doing a similar test with a workflow with a single user lookup and email action, and the workflow doesn't even run... you get Status "Canceled" with no errors after several minutes of the Status being "Starting" like in the test
above

According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot initiation Workflow using PowerShell.
For troubleshooting your issue, firstly please add your site into Local intranet sites. Then you can try to increase Throttle Size and Time Out. For more information, please have a look at the blog:

Also please provide detail error message of ULS log to determine the exact cause of the error?
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at

Set multi user column with PowerShell used to work in 2010 but no longer works in 2013

In SharePoint 2010 I used PowerShell to set the value of multi user people columns and it worked really well. I attempt to use the same PowerShell to set the same column type in SharePoint 2013 and it fails.
here is the PowerShell that I use in 2010:
$web = Get-SPWeb "http://intranet"
$list = $web.lists["TestList"]
$item = $list.items.add()
$item["Title"] = "Test multi user column"
$users = @("Domain\user1", "Domain\user2")
$userList = new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFieldUserValueCollection

I have used this on three SharePoint 2013 farms with differing results. On two of them I receive an error when running $item.update(): Exception calling "Update" with "0" argument(s): "Invalid look-up value. A look-up
field contains invalid data. Please check the value and try again."
If I take one of the users out of the $users list then it works fine, but it will not allow multiple users to be set with PowerShell. I can use the GUI to add more than one user but not PowerShell.
Does anyone know if these methods have changed in 2013? I haven't been able to find anyone else with this issue.

I wrote a powershell script to connect autodiscover service in sharepoint server & this web service call able connect right server X-CalculatedBETarget. It gave the expected response.
I am not sure why SharePoint webservice call (X-CalculatedBETarget) is going to different server?

When SharePoint Autodisover.svc webservice send a request to Exchange server & Exchange server redirecting that request to different server, this is the problem i am facing right now.

SCCM 2012 Export Task Sequence fails with generic error message

We have a complex task sequence comprising of more than 50 applications\packages, 1975 drivers, 18 driver packages etc etc. Its long, it's big and it will not export with it's content.
We have several environments for development test and live. I am attempting to export the primary task sequence with all it's dependencies from live so that I can port it over to a new development environment.
I can export the zip file without content and it comes to 92Mb in size. The entire task sequence software set is 50Gb+. When I attempt to export with all dependencies and content the process gets about 60% of the way through and fails with the error
"Error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"
Googling the error roughly defines the problem as 'the export process cannot access the defined source path for one of the dependant items'
I wrote a PowerShell script that looks as every application, package, driver, driver package, boot image, os image and software update package in the entire SCCM software library and verifies that each and every package has a valid UNC source directory
that can be reached using test-path.
I also wrote another tool that parsed the entire source software library on the server looking for permissions errors (permissions on the structure set at a directory level rather than inherited), directories that were too long, inaccessible or otherwise
blocked, nothing was found.
It will take a very long time to go through and check each and every dependency by hand - time I do not have at present.
I looked in the TaskSequenceProvider.log as that is supposed to contain messages from the export process and found the messages in there far too high a level to use

Is there any way of increasing the log verbosity? I need to see what item is causing the export to fail.
Is there another log containing the information about the export & what it is doing?
All out builds that use the task sequence complete successfully, we can edit the sequence fine, make changes etc. so no internal corruption we can find.
Any ideas?

Torsten, smsprov.log did indeed prove useful, I could see every package as it was validated. Unfortunately the log was wrapping about every 4 minutes and it takes 3+ hours for the task sequence to reach the fail point so I still cannot see the offending
package as it wraps before I can get to the log.
I will increase the size of the log and see if I can maintain some details to investigate.
There was nothing of note in the event logs, certainly nothing leading me to suspect that WMI might be reaching its limits.
I will keep looking for the cause and will post here when I find it <= positive thinking :)

Merging output files with bursting ...

BIP 5.6.3 (eBus 11.5.10.2 + bursting integration patch)
We have a case where we are attempting to burst a subset of the records to a single merged PDF file, with other records being sent to individual files (same template for all records). I thought that I had seen this merging with emails where the xapi:email and xapi:message details were the same (before our development environment was refreshed), but cannot reproduce this now.
When I try this with file system output (xapi:filesystem), I get the following error in the bursting log file:
--Exception
duplicate entry: /MergedFileName.pdf
java.util.zip.ZipException: duplicate entry: /MergedFileName.pdf
Is it possible to generate a merged PDF file (xapi:filesystem) of some of the records?

As you discovered, it is not possible to use .jdb files from one environment in a different environment. The .jdb files use an internal format with relationships between files that form the Btree.
I'm glad to hear you were able to use DbDump and DbLoad successfully.

PS CS4 Merge to HDR + Photomerge broken Error 48 (Line 44/41)

Hey there!
I'm running Photoshop CS 4 on my Mac (OS X - 10.6.5). I tried for the first time to start
Automate > Merge to HDR and
Automate > Photomerge
but all I get are those weird error messages and I cant make anything of them, also couldnt find a helpful thread so I hope
someone around here can help me out.
When I click Merge to HDR it says: "Error 48 File or Folder does not exist - Line: 44 -> $.evalFile(g_StackScriptFolderPath + "CreateImageStack.jsx");
the photomerge error looks similar: "Error 48 File or Folder does not exist - Line 41 -> $.evalFile(g_StackScriptFolderPath + "CreateImageStack.jsx");
Any help is appreciated!!!

I only added some brushes to the Presets>Brushes folder but that's the only thing, that cant be the problem, can it?

Also, on the Archwiki, we are advised to change 'kdesu' to 'gksudo' for GNOME, but I think it should be gksu

You bet your ass, manual intervention is needed. If you try to blindly just merge *.pacnew with original files, it might lead to an unbootable system. Especially when you get pacnew files for /etc/group and /etc/inittab

Merging vhdx & .avhdx with powershell error ....
