Mesa/OpenGL problems

I've run across two problems in Solaris-10U4 Mesa which need fixing to allow compiling and running binaries that make use of these libraries.
(1) /usr/X11/include/mesa/glext.h when compiling for 64-bit mode, yields various int64_t redeclaration errors. There is a block of defines which is duplicated in both glext.h and glxext.h, but they are not actually identical (as of patch125720-15). Applying the glxext.h changes to glext.h makes things work fine for 64-bit:

(2) The 64-bit libGLw.so.1 was built with the wrong RPATH (-R linker flag). It forces /usr/sfw/lib/ to be used for libgcc_s.so, where /usr/sfw/lib/64/ should be used. One can work around the issue by setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64=/usr/sfw/lib/64 but of course the point is to not need such things when we link with -R.
Again, this is Soaris-10U4 x86, patches current as of 2007/01/09.

  • OpenGL problems in photoshop cs5 64bit

I have a nvidia GTX 550Ti graphics card with all available driver updates. Some features of openGL work without problem. The main problem I have is preview of animation with ray trace and export of finished animation. Niether will work. The preview will just hang unless you repeatly click the mouse button, at which point the animation will proceed appx. 1 frame per click. Video export will not complete. Immideatly after clicking export a status bar appears which is already half full. Processor (amd phenom II X6 1055) will run at 80 percent. Graphics card access is at zero. This will run forever unless I stop it, with no results. If I change rendering settings to bounding box or wireframe everything works fine, but I need better output than a wireframe. It seems photoshop recognizes my card just fine as openGL is enabled by default. (tested by erasing user presets on restart) I had the same issue when I was in school and somehow found a workaround for it, but since have reinstalled and lost my settings. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Any help/advice would be greatly appriected!!
    Craig

Well, it opens up fine, and when I click the play button it just plays through.  The pin starts backlit, zooms out, then comes in close and the light comes around front.
I started an "Export - Video" and set the ray tracing and other settings as shown here.  A progress bar opens and starts at the beginning.  It seems to busy my cores very little - on average about 5%, but it DOES make progress, albeit glacially slowly.  At this rate I'd predict completion in 20 minutes or so.  I see the Time Remaining indicator in the document status area go across again and again, indicating rendering of each frame I think.
This is with Photohsop CS6 13.0.1 on Windows 7 x64 with ATI Radeon HD 7850.
I may have misspoken earlier about Photoshop rendering only in the CPU.  That's true for STILL images - I don't know about this video rendering.  It's probably true there too, but I have heard that the Adobe video software (Premiere Pro) can use GPU acceleration for video rendering, and I just don't know how much they may have married that into Photoshop.

  • OpenGL Problems

I have a iMac G3 running OS X 10.3 and OS 9.2. When playing a game on OS 9, I got a error message saying that OpenGL couldn't be prepared and that the game won't work till the problem's fixed. I played the game fine till now. Did this OpenGL graphics problem damage just the game or the entire computer's graphics engine? Is there a fix?
    Any answers are appreciated.
    Thanks

go here and read up on this driver update
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=1365
it shows you what is required to run these drivers there is some games that will not run if you dont have upto date drivers. or the prefrence file could have got corrupt
have you tryed to deleat the games prefrence file in the your HDD/system folder/prefrences and look for the name of the game that is giving you problems in that folder i said and delete the prefrence file and try to start the game

  • OpenGL problem Photoshop CS4

I'm using Photoshop CS4 (Extended) on a machine running Windows XP (32 bit) SP/3 (with all the relevant updates from Microsoft).
Everything seemed to work fine for the first week or so, then one day Photoshop crashed with an error message related to OpenGL. I don't recall the exact message now, but it had something to do with the OpenGL features of the video card.
I restarted Photoshop, only to have it crash again with the same message. At that point, I checked the Adobe Web Site and came across the document "GPU and OpenGL Features and Limitations in Photoshop CS4" at the URL http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb404898.
I am currently using an nVidia 8800 GTS video card (512 MB video memory). After reading the document mentioned above at the Adobe Help site, I updated my video driver to the latest available at nVidia (described on the nVidia web site as Version 182.50, though it shows up on my computer's Device Manager as Version 6.14.11.8250, dated 3/27/2009).
Since installing the new driver, the option to "Enable OpenGL Drawing" under <Edit> <Preferences> <Performance> is completely grayed out.
I would really like to enable OpenGL if it's at all possible. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and is there a way to fix it?
    --- D.M.
PS: I did update Photoshop to version 11.0.1, but that made no difference, the OpenGL Drawing option is still grayed out.

    Thanks for the replies.
I reset the preferenced by pressing CTRL-ALT-SHIFT while starting Photoshop. This did not help, as the OpenGL option was still grayed out in preferences.
I then rolled back the video driver until I found one that worked. I had been using the latest WHQL certified driver from nVidia, version 182.50, which was not working with Photoshop. The one that finally worked was an older version: 181.22 (which is reported in Device Manager as Version 6.14.11.8122).
This finally un-grayed the OpenGL option, and I am now using Photoshop CS4 with OpenGL enabled. So far I have no errors, but it has only been half an hour since I did this, so it's too early to tell. I don't know how this driver rollback will affect the games I have on my computer. If there are problems with the games, I may have to go back to the newer driver and use Photoshop without OpenGL again.
I doubt that anyone from Adobe reads this forums, but I would like to say that I think CS4 is a very buggy release in terms of OpenGL. It doesn't help for Adobe to say that they are using "standard" OpenGL functions and it's the video card driver at fault. The vast majority of users will have either an nVidia or ATI based card in their computers, and it's Adobe's job to make sure that their program works with those cards. It's not like they have a thousand different hardware types to support, just two.
Also, while I posted this problem in nVidia's forum (and I am sure other Photoshop users must have done the same), it is completely unrealistic to think that nVidia will change anything based on input from Photoshop users. This is a tiny portion of their market, and their attention is already focused on gaming issues. So in the end if this problem is to have a solution, Adobe must adapt to whatever quirks nVidia or ATI cards have, because I can pretty much guarantee that nVidia or ATI won't adapt to Adobe anytime soon.
I hope Adobe fixes this problem soon, because it has spoiled an otherwise great product.

    hello,
i hope you guys can help me with the little problem which i have since a few weeks maybe even month.
the opengl function in adobe photoshop cs5 doesnt work anymore. its greyed out and i am not able to enable it.
it worked properly when i got the dell precision (workstation-notebook) for more then a year but some weeks or month ago
(time goes so fast) it stoped to work. i had some projects so i thought i will try to fix it later.
what i tried to fix the problem
delete the photoshop preferences via ctrl, shift, alt.
reinstalled photoshop and updated it to the newest version.
downloaded the actuall graphic card drivers..didnt worked out.
then i downgraded it to the original version which i had as a backup..and it still does not work.
i contacted the dell support today but i kind of doubt that they will be able to help me so thats
why i am here and ask what else i can do. it worked in the past so it should be able to let it work
again...at least thats what i hope.

ok i downloaded now the newest driver (hope i got the right one) from the nvidia page

restarted the notebook but opengl is still not available in photoshop.

  • Catalyst and opengl problems

So I've been using catalyst for a while on my HD5750 and overall enjoyed it but got fed up with how it wouldn't keep up with xserver and the kernel, so in April I decided to go for the open source drivers.  Those drivers performed fine for what I wanted but they lacked features I use, so yesterday I decided to go back to the catalyst drivers.
I'm using KDE 4.8 and the catalyst-test package from AUR.  The problem is anything opengl related will show 1 frame and completely freeze, whether that be kwin, glxgears, a web browser, or a game.
amdcccle and glxinfo seem to give accurate info stating that everything is working (such as direct rendering, opengl 4.2, and so on).
I have noticed that if I disable vsync and tear-free, opengl programs will still only draw 1 frame, but they won't freeze.  So for example I can run GLX gears and it might show a frame or 2 but I'm still getting reports of framerate in the terminal.  If I disable "Catalyst AI" as well, then the programs will ONLY update their display if something else (aside from the mouse) is visually changing the screen.  So if I drag a window around, glxgears will have a smooth consistent framerate but if I stop dragging it, the gears stop moving (but I'm still getting outputs).
Any idea why this is happening and what I can do about it?
Last edited by schmidtbag (2012-07-02 19:56:46)

So I've narrowed down the problem to being either fglrx's fault or KDE 4.8.  I had both update at the same time so I can't really tell.  The reasoning why I'm blaming fglrx should be fairly obvious.
I think KDE might be the problem because if I create a brand new user account and log into it, it works just fine with anything opengl related.  However, if I reboot there seems to be something that gets triggered and screws up opengl again.  I can't figure out what this is - I don't change a single option in this other user account.  The weird thing is it isn't easily reproducible, so for example I might clean the slate of that new user account and reboot several times with success each time, but then one time it doesn't work anymore and when that happens, opengl never works again.
I tried deleting nearly everything KDE related on my account and I was able to get opengl working for 1 session.  After re-applying all my settings (which, BTW, were all working just fine and were active in front of me) and rebooting, opengl failed again.  I don't feel like deleting my account every time I log in, so unless someone can help me out or the next catalyst and/or kde release arrives, I'm going back to the open source drivers.

  • FX 5200, OpenGL problem , drivers, libs

    Hi,
Recently I've bought FX 5200 from MSI manufacter, I hoped everything
will be allright - I come home, play games I could not play before etc...
However, like it is common for everyone of us, it was not so...
Well, I installed drivers from CD from MSI, but I could not play Q3,
which runs on OpenGL, as well as Doom3 and some OpenGL demoscene stuff.
I guess problem was in OpenGL driver, so I started to try some playaround
with libraries. I replaced opengl32.dll with nvopengl.dll, and it was allright
for Quake3. Not for OpenGL demos and doom3, those things need library
nvarch32.dll, I found one at MSI CD, I put it there, but application now
exit with exception, that they need ThunkConnect32 function ( nvarch32.dll needs
it ) from kernel32.dll. I CANNOT get over this point.
Then I was adviced to download drivers from nvidia. I did so, but it don't
change the problem. I am helpless and I don't know what to do with it, if
there are any drivers, which will work and OpenGL stuff will run again ??
Another problem is with video I play in BS Player,WM Player, .. there are
weird colors, actually I can not watch it. I've heard, there is some problems
with frequencies. I tried to change it and nothing changed, what can I do
    with this?
If you ever faced the same problems, how did you figure it out?
         Thanks a lot
PS > I wonder if people from MSI test their instalation applications and drivers

    Hi,
      Yesterday I've tried to install several version as well, it 67xx - 86xx ( I don't
remember exact numbers ), however it was not 53.xx, should I try just these?
I did not use DriverCleaner, but I can try it now.
I don't know why, but there is still the same opengl32.dll lib in system32 folder,
and applicatioon propably load just this file, it seems like apps don't know about
    other nvxxx.dll files.

  • OpenGL problems, TI4800SE

    Hello,
I have a problem using OpenGL with my TI4800SE-card. I've had the card for about a year now, but just recently discovered that OpenGL doesn't seem to work at all. When I run GLinfo, the vendor, renderer and version fields are all blank.
I have a Gigabyte 7VRXP mainboard with the VIA KA-7 chipset (if I remember it correctly) and I have the 4in1 patch installed (including the VIA VGA patch).
Installing the latest Nvidia drivers for the graphics card didn't help.
If anyone has an idea of what might be wrong, I would really appreciate if you let me know.

  • Quake 4 OpenGL Problem

    Heya
I'm trying to install Quake 4.  After a defective CD and an awkward return, I was ready to play.  Unfortunatly,  the game won't start.  The offending error seems to be below:

  • OpenGL problem with PSE9

    Hello,
On a Windows XP SP3 machine with Intel processor and Gigabyte graphics card with OpenGL 3.1 I use Photoshop Elements 9
When I choose for a Pan & Zoom transition in the slideshow mode (with Full Screen, F11) a Adobe message is saying that my system does not support OPENGL.
I have the newest version of the AMD (ATI) catalyst drivers installed.
    Graphics card Gigabyte GV-R577SL-1GD
    Motherboard ASUS P5Q3
How can I check my system if it is fully supporting OpenGL?
Is there a solution for this issue?
    Thank you in advance.

In the meantime I have tested my system for OpenGL with GPU Caps Viewer version 1.14.4 from www.ozone3d.net. Done all available tests. No problems or restricted capabilities during the tests.
Remains that PSE9 is still detecting that my system does not support OpenGL.

I found a similar Post about OpenGL in this forum, titled : Elements 9, OpenGl not recognized on Radeon 5670 of 18 Apr. 2011 9:16 PM

    Hi,
I've installed the video card driver directly from the Nvidia website, and also checked with GeForce Experience, all is clear.
For Photoshop, AAM don't display any update for him, only for After Effects CC (http://puu.sh/hdX68/54d5595104.png). I've tried with a manual installer, but he's saying "Updates can't be applied. This corrector don't work in your case." (http://puu.sh/hdXzX/040d671391.png).

  • OpenGL Problems with Alu iMac

Hi, I've got a small but annoying problem wit my 20" Alu iMac (base model). It seems that some openGL based graphics are not shown correctly. Some polygones are blacked out resulting in an image with black triangles and trapezes, where the blacked out parts change constantly (I presume at the same rate as the frames are calculated).
I encountered this problem first using Windows and 3D-Games with Boot Camp as well as using Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Then I tried a little 3D-Game for MacOS called "l1neum". Same problem.
Now I made a clean install of MacOS 10.5 and realized that the problem occours with CoverFlow in the new Finder.
Has anybody else experienced this problem or got a solution?

Try downloading and installing the 10.4.10 Combo update. Let the update run alone. Don't use the Mac for anything else while it installs the update, including Airport and Bluetooth. Use a wired keyboard and mouse if you can.
Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (Intel)
Repair Disk Permissions after the update is installed and you have restarted the Mac.

  • OpenGL problem

I have run Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne on this machine before with no problems, but all of a sudden I get the error "Warcraft III was unable to initialize OpenGL" when I try to start it up. The only change I have made recently is that I had set it to run on my other monitor and I am now trying to run it without that monitor connected...but I don't see how that would cause this particular error. (I'm in a different state right now so I can't reconnect the other monitor and see if that for some reason fixes it.)
Anybody know if reinstalling the drivers would help? Where do I find them? (this MacBook came with the Intel GMA 950 which corresponds to the 945G chipset)
    Thanks!

    Hi, welcome to macbook forum.

  • Quadro 5000 openGL problem!

i recently installed a pny quadro 5000 replacing an ati 5970 2gb gaming card. here is my system:
    core i7 920
    12gb 1066mhz corsair
    asus rampage 2 extreme
    thermaltake 875w psu
    no overclocking
    photoshop cs4 extended 64bits
    win7 ultimate 64bits
when openGL enabled and i open a new bitmap document, photoshop(64bit) tells me my video card doesnt meet the minimum requirements needed to run openGL.
win7 and production premium are up to date and i installed the latest full driver from nvidia website.(it was later version than the one in manufacturers drivers cd.
old drivers were completely removed. photoshop prefs were reset.

Regarding a direct answer to your question about installing as Administrator, all modern software should understand the Windows UAC mechanism.  It really should not be necessary to run the latest installers as Administrator.
As I mentioned, a number of people have reported problems with Quadro cards and Photoshop CS5 (though I personally have a Quadro FX 3500 in one of my machines, and it runs fine).  If you don't find a solution soon, this may be something you want to take up with the nVidia support people.  With such an expensive video card one should expect very good support.

Back on winXP I could run World of Warcraft with about 30fps without any problem and enjoy this game,
but now Im trying to start it on linux with "-opengl" flag on and also I did the regedit but i can run it with only like 1-8 fps.
Is there any possible way to run it on this machine?
    Thanks for help.

750MHz? Are you crazy? Wine has to convert a lot of functions, this takes extra CPU cycles adding on an overhead that brings a weak 750MHz CPU to its knees. I seriously recommend you get a new computer if you want to run Wow through wine. That being said their are some things you can do like running wine in its own X session and killing off processes that you don't need running in the background though with an old 750MHz Duron this still isn't going to make that much of an improvement.

  • Possible NVIDIA/PCI/OpenGL problem

I've been having trouble with Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Cinema 4D. I'm not sure if I always had these problems or if they appeared in the last year. Basically, in AfterEffects I can't scrub the video and get it to update, in Final Cut Pro the playhead doesn't update, and in Cinema 4D I can't get images shadows.
I did a lot of research on each of these different problems and found they were related -- it seems like it's an OpenGL issue -- either OpenGL is faulty or turned off somehow. I've tried to turn it on in each of the programs -- to no avail.
Then I thought it was an NVIDIA driver problem, but when I downloaded the driver, NVIDIA gave me an "Unsupported System - This computer will not support this NVIDIA graphics solution." popup. I looked in my Macbook Pro system profiler and saw that the NVIDIA card uses a PCIe bus, but when I clicked on PCI cards it gave me the error message "This computer doesn't contain any PCI cards. If you installed PCI cards, make sure they’re properly installed."
Is this the problem? Are my PCI cards not installed correctly? Is it an NVIDIA card/update issue? Is it an OpenGL issue?
Any help or suggestions much appreciated.
