Message Before Main Screen

Hi Guys/Girls
I have developed an executable program it works ok but I need to display an informative message box prior to the front screen being displayed to ask the user to do some pre-work before they execute the main program.
Have any of you guru's done this - if so I would appreciate any help.
Some small sample code would be even more helpful.

Have you a small example of how to use this especially returning the answer - sorry not sure how to use it.
I'm using it like this but not gettiing anything back when I press No.

Initial Message before login screen

I am facing a problem,
I need to display a message once before login screen, the message will be more than 200 characters I tried to use Alert and message builtin but the limitation was that only 200 characters can be displayed thru these builtins, therefore I am unable to display the message.
How Can I do that ?

You could null out the on-logon trigger and call your own Form which displays the message and the calls Logon built-in.

Open Startup Disk preferences. Be sure your startup disk is selected. If not select it then click on Restart. At the chime press and hold down the SHIFT key which will force a Safe Mode startup. This takes quite a bit longer than the normal startup. After it has completed restart the computer normally. See if this helps. If not, then do the following:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Have been going into and out of Firefox since 1530GMT without problems but message on main screen has change to normal one from stating "Upgrade to latest version" and I'm puzzled how that can have happened ?

This is a follow up to my message sent around 1529GMT where very time I started Firefox, it would show the message "Upgrade to latest version. So I did - every day for last four days - but the Upgrade message would still be there. Suddenly, today from 1600-ish GMT the problem has disappeared. Has someone changed something somewhere ?

Hello! I have a question. Unfortunately my phone is being very coherent. So, every time I touch Messages on main screen, it leads me there but my screen is horizontal rather than vertical. How do I fix the rotation to put vertically so I can read my messages? Help please!

It's possible that the orientation is locked in landscape (horizontal) mode. You wouldn't notice that on the home screen as it only displays in portrait (vertical mode) but would see it when you open messages. Open Control Center (on the home screen swipe up with one finger from below the bottom of the screen); orientation lock is at the far right of the top row -- looks like a lock with circular arrow around it. The same icon will display on the menu bard when orientation is locked.

When i start ifind i get message about load error. i click reload option and icloud main screen opens ifind shows a map that is misaligned. phone shows several blocks away. can play sound thru ifind and acess info on phone. all os upto date. any idea

start ifind from web on my dell pc with win 7. get error on load to retry later or reload. click reload and icloud main screen comes up. I hit ifind and phone shows up on a misaligned map and is shown several blocks from actual location. tried daughters phone and map shows up inaccurate for hers also. I have 4s she has 5c all ios on phones are updated . I can get phone to sound and access data such as contacts, calendars. the problem with bad map and message that there is a problem on starting. previously the map had no problems and location was accurate to within a short distance.

I posted here because, to be honest, for a company that's acknowledged their installers and updaters and support needs some work, they seem very determined to obfuscate the means by which users can provide direct feedback to the company. Much like you, I've also noticed a trend in CS5 installations that mirrors the issues that were present in CS4. it's a sad state of affairs.
As for my installation, you are also quite right to say that a clean install would have been a lot faster than what I went through with TS and it was actually my first idea. Before calling TS I'd actually read through the forums and noticed that a large number of users who were faced with my situation had no other choice but to reformat. I was just giving Adobe the benefit of the doubt and wasted 2 and a half weeks through that course of action...
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that the installer failed on a fresh system. It was a custom-built design machine, assembled and configured by myself. The only software that had been installed on it prior to Design Premium was Firefox, an FTP client and the start of my problems, trial versions of various CS4 programs. I used trials just long enough to retire the previous design computer so that I wouldn't contravene the EULA's stipulation of not running more than one instance of software at the same time on different machines. Turns out being honest once again penalised a legal customer.
If there is just thing users should learn from my far from unique tale of failed tech support it's that if you ever run into a problem with the installation, don't bother calling TS, just reformat and start from scratch. It might seem like it'll take longer to get going again, but in actuality, it's the opposite. Reformatting means you'll be up and running in about 1 or 2 days rather than 2 weeks.

E71: Messaging 9.7 - no email on main screen, no n...

After upgrading firmware to v 410.21.010 and Messaging to 9.7, I have some problems:
1. No email list on the main screen. In the settings, I have the following options (all names translated from the Polish interface, so original English names can be different) - "Email notification 1", "Email notification 2" and "Nokia Messaging email". The first two seem to refer to the default email program (not Messaging) - I cannot set any mailboxes for them ("There is no mailbox" error). "Nokia Messaging email" shows the "Set up e-mail" link on the main screen. With previous firmware and messaging I had another option "Nokia Intellisync" which triggered email list on the main screen. No such option anymore.
2. Email notifications are "on" in Messaging but when emails arrive there is only a sound. No icon (@) anywhere, no blinking.
Any hints before I try to reinstall everything again?

No replies meant I was probably alone with this bug, so I went for hard reset and reinstall.
Of course, everything works.
I'm just wondering what was the problem? Some issues with Nokia Messaging servers that failed to configure email on my phone (I configured it by hand with another account)?
And I'm quite angry anyway, a new firmware + a new version of Nokia Messaging (I didn't ask for it: after the firmware upgrade my settings and applications could not have been restored because they broke all Internet connections) cost several hard resets, a lot of googling and reading forums, and a couple of backups and restorations...

if the device I connected have caused this, shouldn't the macbook itself have some type of protection that should prevent this from happening.
because when I took it to an apple certified maintenance shop, the guy said that now it could only run while connected to the power. it won't run on batteries. and that I have to change the motherboard.
can I just replace the damaged part only, would apple consider this as a design issue and they could pay for it, or should I just buy a new motherboard for 800$.

The problem is in finding a tech shop that will/can do board level repairs on Macs. They are few. And I certainly wouldn't spend $800 on a new logic board - I would replace the computer if I had to pay that much!
You could call around to a few repair shops and see if they feel competent to isolate the problem and do a board level repair - but I'm afraid, in the end, that your search will be futile.

Why is the Thunderbird main screen message list text so small - and how can I change it

I see lots and lots of complaints but NO suitable answer! Most answers don't even answer the question but instead tell how to increase MESSAGE font size - not the main screen "message list". Suggestions to change screen resolution are common but are ludicrous. One would have to change resolution every time they went in or out of Thunderbird! CTRL+ is also suggested but does not work on the message list. Creating and inserting CSS into the profile is a ridiculous suggestion for most users.
Why is there no user friendly setting provided for text size on this screen?

Is there a setting on the iphone 4s that stops text message from popping up on main screen

When I recieve a text message, part of the message appears on the main screen, and stays there. Is this just a settings or some way to stop that?

Message about new service on OD master main screen?

When I start Server Admin and go to Computers & Services and click on my
OD master I see the following message on it's main screen...
"This server contains new or upgraded services that need to be
configured to use single sign-on Kerberos authentication. Services that
already use Kerberos on this server will not be affected. Select Open
Directory in the Computers & Services list, then click Settings."
In Setting I see nothing different or anything that looks like it needs attention.
Anyone have any idea what the services could be?

Hi,
today the user whose account has been affected came back from Christmas holidays. Simply deleting the file "/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/xxxxx.plist" on the server fixed the problem.
He is now able to login via SSH, iChat, and so on, again.
So it is very obvious that the existence of the local cached Account (represented by "xxxxx.plist" within "/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/") was the reason for denying the authentication to the services.
Now one question is left: Why was it created?
Any ideas are welcome!

Notification on main screen, but no message

Since 2 days I have a notification of a phone call on my main screen. It's a yellow phone with a yellow cross left of it. My call log says there is 1 new message. When I open my call log, there is however no new message. To make sure I deleted all the items in the call log, but the notification on the mains screen still exists. It happened after an error, can't remember what it said. I then rebooted the Curve by removing the battery, waiting 10 seconds and reinserting it. After the reboot the useless (?) notification was there. Curve works fine, it's just the annoying notification I would like to get rid of. Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try changing the theme to a different theme (Options > Theme), and then switch it back to the original. You can also follow the steps in this document:

Moving apps onto the main screens

I have too many apps to appear on the main screens and have now deleted some from the main screens. How do I move the apps onto the main screen? My iPhone is not Synced with iTunes for apps, so when I sync it, all apps are deleted. I can obviously access them through Spotlight but want to access them from the main screens.

I'm assuming you mean that you installed more apps than can fit on the 11 home screen pages, and the overflow apps are only findable with iPhone Search.
1. Delete some apps as you have done.
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout
My iPhone is not Synced with iTunes for apps, so when I sync it, all apps are deleted.
1. Be sure you've authorized your computer in iTunes to the iTunes store account you used to purchase apps.
2. After connecting your phone to iTunes, and before syncing (disable automatic syncing), right-click your device and select "Transfer Purchases."
3. You might want to do this before deleting apps from the phone so that you won't have to re-download them from the App Store.
