Message Mapping of a CASE statement

I'd like to implement the functionality offered by a CASE statement in a Message Map or a multi-level if-else.
If "S" Then
"Acc"
ElseIf "I" Then
"In"
Elseif "E" Then
"Rej"
EndIf
TIA
Tim

Hi Tim,
There's a built-in function in Message Mapping that you can use without writing a user-defined function.
Category: Conversions
Name: FixedValues

Jesse

  • Switch Statement Message Mapping

    Hi,
Is there any way to reproduce a switch statement using the graphical message mapping?
    Eg:
    switch (value) {
    case 1
       map AA
    case 2
       map BB
    thanks

    Yes, it is possible.
If else is mainly to decide logic for onlly two different condition.  If you want to simulate very similar to Switch for more than 2 or multiple condition, Use If without else for all the conditions except the last one where you can use if else.
Example: If you have 10 conditions,   first 8 condition go with if without else and last two with if else.
    Hope that helps

  • Case statement in OWB mapping

I am trying to use a case statement in an OWB mapping. I am attempting to use it in expression builder within a filter object. Each time I try to validate the expression in the expression builder I get an error:
    Line 4, Col 6:
    PL/SQL: ORA-00920: invalid relational operator
Below is the code used in the expression builder window:
    CASE A.ATTRIBUTE_NAME
WHEN 'CA COMPLETION DATE' THEN RTRIM(A.C_CODE_VALUE)
    ELSE NULL
    END
Any help with what is happening would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Matt

Thank you both for you help. I initially tried to use the expression operator but was confused since the expression builder in the expression operator has the drop down list with the available SQL clauses greyed out. In the OWB documentation it states that the drop down will contain SQL clauses that are appropriate for that expression type so when I saw it was greyed out I assumed that those clauses where not valid for this operator. Sure enough though when I pasted in my Case statement it verified correctly.
    Thanks again,
    Matt

  • Difference beween Case Statement and Pivot Operator in a OWB mapping

    Hi ,
Kindly clarify what is the difference between using a PIVOT operator and the CASE statement in a Expression Operator in a particular mapping.
    rgds
    Arinjit

    Hi
With PIVOT operator you can transform columns to rows. For example if oyu have 12 column (one for every months) than you can create 12 rows with one column of month data.
If you want to do this without PIVOT you can do it with union (12 times) or with
    something like this.
In this case you can't use CASE statement I think.
If you want to do the reverse of this, create 12 column from 12 rows, you can use UNPIVOT operator. In this case you can use CASE statement and aggregating.

Hi to all APEX users and developers.
I have several APEX applications and they are all working well, but recently I got one strange exception when I try to submit page:

    Almir

    Hi Almir,
actually it is the 100 page item limit. See (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/limits.htm)
I also had a look into the source code and the code at the position where the error gets raised only supports 100 page items.
Can you have a look into the generated HTML code and look if you have a page items which is mapped to p_t101 or a higher number ?
I will file a bug to show a better error message.

  • Using case statement in OWB expression builder

    Hi All,
We are using OWB version 10.2.0.1.0. While using the below case statement We are getting the validation message as 'The expression is not properly formed'.

Try to deploy the mapping and see if you are still getting this issue

  • PI 7.11: IDoc Message mapping

    Hi there,
I'm currently working on a graphical message mapping using IDoc HRMD_A06 as source structure (HR master data transferred via PFAL).
In my result structure I have to fill a field CostCenter with the following logic:
If field KOSTL (cost center) is filled in node E1P0315, map this field to CostCenter in result structure, otherwise take KOSTL of node E1P0001.
The end date (ENDDA) has to be '99991231' in each case.
This is how the result structure looks like:
    <e>                       [1...1]
      <CostCenter>            [1...1]
    </e>
This is the simplified source structure:
    <E1PLOGI SEGMENT="1">
      <E1PITYP SEGMENT="1">                        [0...n]
         <E1P0001 SEGMENT="1">                     [0...n]
           <INFTY>0001</INFTY>                     [0...1]
           <ENDDA>99991231</ENDDA>                 [0...1]
           <KOSTL>0000012345</KOSTL>               [0...1]
        </E1P0001>
      </E1PITYP>
      <E1PITYP SEGMENT="1">                        [0...n]
        <E1P0315 SEGMENT="1">                      [0...n]
          <INFTY>0315</INFTY>                      [0...1]
          <ENDDA>99991231</ENDDA>                  [0...1]
          <KOSTL>0000024001</KOSTL>                [0...1]
        </E1P0315>
      </E1PITYP>
    </E1PLOGI>
How can I do the check if field KOSTL of node E1P0315 is null?
I've tried an existence check for the whole node (E1P0315->exists), but then it fails, because all E1PITYP nodes are processed.
I hope my problem is clear to you.
Would it be better to use another mapping type?
As I'm an ABAP developer, I would of course prefer some lines of code to this graphical drag&drop thing.
    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers, guys!
I did it now like that:
    http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=mappingflknz.jpg
Click on the image to enlarge it!
The logic is as following (ABAP Pseudo-code ):
IF 0315_KOSTL and 0315_ENDDA are populated.
      IF 0315_ENDDA equals '99991231'.
        map 0315_KOSTL to Cost_Center.
      ENDIF.
    ELSE.
IF 0001_KOSTL and 0001_ENDDA are populated.
        IF 0001_ENDDA equals '99991231'.
          map 0001_KOSTL to Cost_Center.
        ENDIF.
      ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
Is that a good way to do that mapping?
Do I also have to use the removeContexts function or is it ok like that?
Could I also do that with an ABAP mapping program?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Case Statement in Answers Filter

    Hi,
I'm trying to build a query in Answers that filters the data returned based on the current month number. If the current month is 1 then we want to show all 12 months, otherwise we want to show months less than the current month. If I use the following:
    CASE WHEN extract(month from current_date) = 1 THEN "Calculated Values Monthly"."MONTH" >= 1 ELSE "Calculated Values Monthly"."MONTH" < extract (month from current_date) END
I get the error below. All works fine until I add the CASE.

ThxAccording to your requirements, when the month is January, you want all 12 months; any other number and you want months from 1 to "1 less than the current month number." Yes? Okay, here's what to do:
In the filter on your date column, click on the filter button, convert it to SQL and enter this:
    MONTH(tablename.date_column) BETWEEN 1 AND CASE WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE) = 1 THEN 12 ELSE MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)-1 END
    Here's the logic:
    a) When the current month is January, then the case statement will yield 12 and the filter will be:
WHERE MONTH(tablename.date_column) BETWEEN 1 AND 12 ...or all 12 months.
    b) When the current month is any other month, say June, then the case statement will yield one less than the what the month number is, or in this case 5.
WHERE MONTH(tablename.date_column BETWEEN 1 AND 5 ...or all the months from 1 to 5 (Jan through May)
This will give you what you want...

CASE STATEMENTS AND CASE EXPRESSIONS IN ORACLE9I PL/SQL
    =======================================================
    PURPOSE
아래의 자료는 Case 문에서 oracle 8.1.7과 Oracle 9i의 New Feature로 8.1.7에서는
sqlplus 에서만 가능했고, 9i 부터는 pl/sql 까지 가능하다.
    Explanation
    1. Oracle 8.1.7 Feature
    CASE WHEN <cond1> THEN <v1> WHEN <cond2> THEN <v2> ... [ELSE <vn+1> ] END
각각의 WHEN...THEN 절의 argument 는 255 까지 가능하고 이 Limit를 해결하려면
    Oracle 8i Reference를 참조하면 된다.
The maximum number of arguments in a CASE expression is 255, and each
WHEN ... THEN pair counts as two arguments. To avoid exceeding the limit of 128 choices,
you can nest CASE expressions. That is expr1 can itself be a CASE expression.
Case Example : 한 회사의 모든 종업원의 평균 봉급을 계산하는데 봉급이 $2000보다 작은경우
2000으로 계산을 하는 방법이 pl/sql을 대신하여 case function을 사용할 수 있다.
    SELECT AVG(CASE when e.sal > 2000 THEN e.sal ELSE 2000 end) FROM emp e;
Case Example : 나이를 column으로 가지고 있는 customer table을 예로 들어보자.
    SQL> SELECT
    2 SUM(CASE WHEN age BETWEEN 70 AND 79 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) as "70-79",
    3 SUM(CASE WHEN age BETWEEN 80 AND 89 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) as "80-89",
    4 SUM(CASE WHEN age BETWEEN 90 AND 99 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) as "90-99",
    5 SUM(CASE WHEN age > 99 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) as "100+"
    6 FROM customer;
    70-79 80-89 90-99 100+
    4 2 3 1
    1 SELECT
2 (CASE WHEN age BETWEEN 70 AND 79 THEN '70-79'
    3 WHEN age BETWEEN 80 and 89 THEN '80-89'
    4 WHEN age BETWEEN 90 and 99 THEN '90-99'
    5 WHEN age > 99 THEN '100+' END) as age_group,
    6 COUNT(*) as age_count
    7 FROM customer
    8 GROUP BY
9 (CASE WHEN age BETWEEN 70 AND 79 THEN '70-79'
    10 WHEN age BETWEEN 80 and 89 THEN '80-89'
    11 WHEN age BETWEEN 90 and 99 THEN '90-99'
    12* WHEN age > 99 THEN '100+' END)
    SQL> /
    AGE_G AGE_COUNT
    100+ 1
    70-79 4
    80-89 2
    90-99 3
    Example
    2. Oracle 9i Feature

NOTE: The above simple samples demonstrate two subtle differences in the
    syntax
required for case statements and expressions.
    1) A case STATEMENT is terminated using the 'end case' keywords; a
    case
EXPRESSION is terminated using only the 'end' keyword.
    2) Each item in a case STATEMENT consists of one or more
    statements, each
terminated by a semicolon. Each item in a case expression
    consists of
exactly one expression, not terminated by a semicolon.
    Sample 3:
Sample 1 demonstrates a simple case statement in which the selector
    is
compared for equality with each item in the case statement body.
    PL/SQL
also provides a 'searched' case statement as an alternative; rather
    than
providing a selector and a list of values, each item in the body of
    the
case statement provides its own predicate. This predicate can be any
valid boolean expression, but only one case will be selected.

    functions, and
packages with no changes to the syntax.
The following samples are included for completeness and demonstrate the
    use of
case statements and/or expressions in each of these scenarios.
    Sample 7:
This sample demonstrates use of a case statement in a stored
    procedure.
Note that this sample also demonstrates that it is possible for each
    of
the items in the case body to consist of more than one statement.

    PL/SQL Record
PL/SQL Version 2 tables (index by tables)
    Object type (user-defined type)
All of these types except for object types face a similar restriction
even for if statements (i.e. they cannot be compared for equality directly) so this is unlikely to change for these types. Lack of support for object types is simply an implementation restriction which may be relaxed in future releases.

I have done the following code but doesn't
like the statement of - "case(butNext)". What do you mean "doesn't like" -- did you get an error message?
I'm guessing it won't compile because you're trying to switch on a Button.
    I tried something
like "g.fillOval(100,50,70,90, BorderLayout.NORTH)"...no that doesn't make sense. You only use BorderLayout.NORTH when you're adding components to a BorderLayout layout manager. An oval is not a component and fillOval isn't adding a component and Graphics is not a Panel or layout manager.
Would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to position
shapes using the graohic method. I think the problem is that you're confusing shapes with components.

  • Problem in message Mapping SAP PI 7.1

    Hi Experts,
I have a problem in my Message Mapping,
    Design: [Design|http://www.life-4-music.de/prob.jpg]
    Messagemapping: [MappingTest|http://www.life-4-music.de/probII.jpg]
The Problem is, that ElementC from SourceMessage occours "0 to n" times in Element A, but I need to check every ElementC in ElementA to TargetElementA with a IF Statement.
I tried a lot of things, like change the CONTEXT of the ELEMENT or use SPLIT BY VALUE but without success.
    Rgds,
    Steffen

Hello, thanks a lot for the fast awnser. I tried this allready to change the Context of the Elements "system" in this Mapping: Changed Context
For Example in one field I check for Entry "ERP" in Source Field "system" , if "ERP" is in the first ELEMENT then it will be mapped correctly: Example ERP works
But If "ERP" is in an element below, then it doesn´t work, so it seems to be, that he only map the first occurrence of the Elements. : Example SCADA don´t work
Here is the View of the QUEUE from the don´t working Example: Show QUEUE of not working Example
maybe u have a tip for me again , because I´m allready desperate
    Thanks a lot.

  • How to validate a date in message mapping

    Hi experts,
how to validate a date in message mapping. For ex:  if date comes as 2008/02/31, then file it shold not get processed.how to achieve this in message mapping. Please help .
    Thanks&Regards,
    Reyaz Hussain

    Hi,
There are few simple ways for date validation as follow,
1.If you would like to handle it in XI only, then in message mapping you could verify about it with the help of generating smart exception.
For e.g in mapping there is one Date conversion API i.e. somthing DateTransformation It converts the incoming date format to required format. Here give the date format i.e expected from Sender File.
If in case the format miss-matched then it will create the exception.
You could handle this exception with the use of [Alert notification|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/abb2e7ff6311d194c000a0c93033f7/frameset.htm] and could be even able to notify to sender system about it.
    2. The another solution is easy for SAP synchornous communication --If you are passing the file data to SAP, then you could use below function modules to verify date format in receiver RFC/BAPI or inbound IDOC program. If the sy-subrc is not 0 then don't process further.
    CONVERT_DATE_FORMAT
    ISU_DATE_FORMAT_CHECK

  • Writing message mapping function in Java in integration repository

    Hi XI Pundits,
I am new to XI. I was working on Message mapping in intergration repository.
To map the source messages to target messages, we do graphical kind of mapping like drag and drop.
There are some functions aavilable at the bottom like concatehate, trim and etc. which we use if we need to modify the source message and map to target.
But in case we face a situation when we don't find the function which suits our requirement, I guess we need to write a new function. We can write these new function using Java only.
Can someone throw some light on this ?
<b>What do we do to invoke java editor in integartion reposity to write mapping function in java ?

  • Case Statement in sub query

Hi, I have two issues, here is my initial code:
    select
    cc.name_id_no
    ,cc.discover_date
    ,cc.cla_case_no
    ,max(rl.year_of_incident)Non_Loss_Past_5
    ,rl.timestamp
    from cla_case cc, rbn_loss rl
    where cc.name_id_no = rl.customer_no
    and rl.year_of_incident < trunc(cc.discover_date)
    and rl.type_of_loss < 1000
    and rl.timestamp < trunc(cc.discover_date)
    and (cc.question_class = 20
    or cc.question_class = 25)
    and (trunc(cc.discover_date)- (rl.year_of_incident)) < 1095
    --and (trunc(cc.discover_date) <> (rl.year_of_incident))
    group by cc.cla_case_no,name_id_no, cc.discover_date,rl.timestamp
Now a cla_case_no can map to several year_of_incident. I only want the cla_case_no that maps to the max year_of_incident ie There should only be a single cla_case_no corresponding to the max year_of_incident.
To get around this I did the following which is not very efficient and I'm hoping it can be improved:
    select distinct z.cla_case_no from (
    select
    cc.name_id_no
    ,cc.discover_date
    ,cc.cla_case_no
    ,max(rl.year_of_incident)Non_MW_Loss_Past_5
    ,rl.timestamp
    from cla_case cc, rbn_loss rl
    where cc.name_id_no = rl.customer_no
    and rl.year_of_incident < trunc(cc.discover_date)
    and rl.type_of_loss < 1000
    and rl.timestamp < trunc(cc.discover_date)
    and (cc.question_class = 20
    or cc.question_class = 25)
    and (trunc(cc.discover_date)- (rl.year_of_incident)) < 1095
    --and (trunc(cc.discover_date) <> (rl.year_of_incident))
    group by cc.cla_case_no,name_id_no, cc.discover_date,rl.timestamp
    ) z
Now comes the second issue: The above is actually a subquery that will link to a bigger table via cla_case_no ccx
    SELECT
ie ,(select distinct z.cla_case_no from (

    ) z
    where z.cla_case_no = ccx.cla_case_no
    ) Non_MW_Loss_Past_5
    FROM etc
Now only certain cc.cla_case_no from the subquery will corresp to the ccx_cla_case_no from the main table and the other entries will be null.
What I require is that if the subquery returns a result that IS NOT NULL to return 'Y' ELSE 'N' instead of the varies cla_case_no's and (null) entries in the Non_MW_Loss_Past_5 column
    Thanks!!!
