Well, it is definitely a file system issue but of course it won't be an nfs issue if you have a local mount point. I resolved this issue in UNIX by unmounting the file system is question.
I didn't realize how important the . and .. directories are to SAP executables.
In my /usr/sap/<SID> path, only "." showed up in when using the ls -l command with the <sid>adm user.
As root though, the "." and ".." paths were listed.
After unmounting the file system I saw that the path was owned by roo.system.
Changed the file system ownership to <sid>adm:sapsys with full permissions(probably not needed).
All is well... took quite a while to find this... then of course, found OSS note 1917102 which pointed to OSS note 130683 (which had my solution. note title is misleading and I overlooked it at first.)
Hope this saves someone valuable time.

Message server will not start on AIX 6
I have a standard ECC6 system running the 185 kernel and ORACLE 10.2.0.2 on AIX 6. which is giving me a problem. I also have 2 other systems apparently with the same configuration which operate perfectly.
The problem I have is that if I stop the system the message server will not start. If I wait until the following day the message server starts pefectly. I have not been able to test stopping the system and waiting an hour or so and then restarting in the same day, so I do not know if the overnight wait is relevant.

Looks like port 3227 is already used. You can check the ports by netstat -a -n from your command prompts. Also check your settings in /etc/services and /etc/hosts files.
Check your filewall rules/disable antivirus if any and give a go.
Hope this helps.

I sync all songs, photos and videos between my computer and iPod classic with no problems, but when I get to sync info I get this message: "iTunes cannot sync Calendar and contacts to iPod. Try logging out of Windows adn then logging back in". Could you please help?
Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books. -

I dont know why this message has appeared. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox after completely deleting all files and folders of mozilla from program files and registry.Despite of that firefox will not start and keep giving error message. i can not reset firefox without openning firefox.Profile does not open in window search.
On openning app data profile manually there is nothing much i can do as it shows [General]
StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/2tt76737.default
how shall i fix and restore firefox as i am desperate please , please help....Does that Profiles/2tt76737.default still exist?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Start and stop error for performance counter in Perfmon of Windows server 2008
Dear All,
There is a centralized monitoring server to monitor a few Windows server 2003.
There is a error when I start the performance counter for remote servers.
But it can be started again after 10 seconds.
Error:
When attempting to start the Data Collector Set the following system error occured:
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Another issue is I cannot start or stop the performance counter in command line (logman.exe) after 1 month.
The error message is similar to the above, it mentioned something is using the files.
I have to reboot my server.
I don't know how can I find out the root cause.
Please help.
Regards,
Tommy Chan
Dear Tommy,
This issue may be caused by certain programs running in the background.
If it is convenience for you to restart the server, you can do that and test the result.
If the issue persists, you can try a Clean Boot.
Clean boot
=================
Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.
2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
If the issue still occurs, we may need to collect some trace information of the error message by using Process Monitor.
1. Download process monitor from the link given here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
2. Run the process monitor on the problematic server:
3. Start Process Monitor. You will see File/Registry activity is being captured.
4. Press Ctrl+E to stop logging data.
5. Press Ctrl+X to clear the currently captured data.
6. Under Process Monitor, press Ctrl+E to start gathering data.
7. Now try to reproduce the issue: Start or stop the performance counter in command line to let the error message appear again.
8. Under Process Monitor, Press Ctrl+E to stop capturing.
9. Please save the captured data from Process Monitor to a file (File->Save) and upload this file to the following site:
https://sftus.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=626b99a0-c31f-4cd9-9fec-5e0597adef20
Password: i#qil_O$Q[
Please also collect the Process Explorer log on the problematic client:
1. Run the process monitor on the problematic client:
2. Start Process Monitor. You will see File/Registry activity is being captured.
3. Press Ctrl+E to stop logging data.
4. Press Ctrl+X to clear the currently captured data.
5. Under Process Monitor, press Ctrl+E to start gathering data.
6. Now try to reproduce the issue: Start or stop the performance counter in command line on the server to let the error message appear again.
7. Under Process Monitor, Press Ctrl+E to stop capturing.
8. Please save the captured data from Process Monitor to a file (File->Save) and upload it to the above site as well.

I get this message when I try to start iTunes
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime Library incorrectly.
I have tried to have iTunes re-install but still get the error.Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

Organizer wont starts and gives error message
I have had Elements 8 working for quit a while on a HP windows 7 64 Bit machine (years) and now suddenly the Organizer crash's
when I try to start it. The editor starts and works OK. The problem seemed to start when I switched on the option to autoanalyze
on startup , but cannot verify as the setting panel is in the organizer menus!
Does anybody have any suggestions on what might be the matter?
Thank you
AlSome of the steps you can try are present here http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Organizer_ crashes
Also since you are not able to launch Organizer so go in Task Manager and under Process tab you will find Elements AutoAnalyzer.exe. Killl/stop the processs and then launch Organizer now. If launched successfully now change the preferences from Edit->Preferences. -
Messaging Server cannot send email to gmail but can send email to yahoo
I'm using Messaging server 7.0. My company's domain is {color:#ff0000}*sun-vietnam.com*{color} and the email server name is {color:#ff0000}*mail.sun-vietnam.com*{color}, this name is {color:#ff0000}*registered and resolved*{color} correctly in the DNS server of the ISP.
When using an email account form this domain, I can send email to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*yahoo.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} and the {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} account can receives this email immediately.
But when I try to send an email address to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*gmail.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color}, the email succesfully sent without no error notified, however the {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color} account cannot receives this email although I waited for serveral days.
If anyone know the solution to fix this problem, please help me, thanks all of you very much.

# Example INIT.ORA file
# This file is provided by Oracle Corporation to help you customize
# your RDBMS installation for your site. Important system parameters
# are discussed, and example settings given.
# Some parameter settings are generic to any size installation.
# For parameters that require different values in different size
# installations, three scenarios have been provided: SMALL, MEDIUM
# and LARGE. Any parameter that needs to be tuned according to
# installation size will have three settings, each one commented
# according to installation size.
# Use the following table to approximate the SGA size needed for the
# three scenarious provided in this file:
# -------Installation/Database Size------
# SMALL MEDIUM LARGE
# Block 2K 4500K 6800K 17000K
# Size 4K 5500K 8800K 21000K
# To set up a database that multiple instances will be using, place
# all instance-specific parameters in one file, and then have all
# of these files point to a master file using the IFILE command.
# This way, when you change a public
# parameter, it will automatically change on all instances. This is
# necessary, since all instances must run with the same value for many
# parameters. For example, if you choose to use private rollback segments,
# these must be specified in different files, but since all gc_*
# parameters must be the same on all instances, they should be in one file.
# INSTRUCTIONS: Edit this file and the other INIT files it calls for
# your site, either by using the values provided here or by providing
# your own. Then place an IFILE= line into each instance-specific
# INIT file that points at this file.
# NOTE: Parameter values suggested in this file are based on conservative
# estimates for computer memory availability. You should adjust values upward
# for modern machines.
# You may also consider using Database Configuration Assistant tool (DBCA)

Print jobs keep starting and then error in print que
I have a HP Photosmart 100D series printer. The print jobs keep freezing up in the que. The jobs start and then after a page or two the error message appears when checking the status.
I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled
I have download new drivers
I have run the "HP Print Doctor" it gives a message to save work, close and programs and restart the PC and then restart the ulitity. I have done this and still get the message that it cannot fix the que error.
What do you suggest as a solution to this frustrating problem?
I have Windows 7 Professional OSHmm. I have an HP printer that's behaved fine, but I've moved it to my iBook (running Tiger) so I can print wirelessly.
It may be an issue with the driver or the software. I'm guessing the software was written for the PPC machines, and that might be causing the problem.
The way I've checked this is to open up "Activity Monitor" (Applications>Utilities) and find the processes related to your HP printer (usually begin with "hp") under kind what's shown?
You might want to look into the CUPS idea presented earlier as it may give you better results.

Messaging Server won't start up, or acts strangely
One of the config files has disappeared, or the Messaging Server
is acting "strangely".
<P>
Because of bugs in the Berkeley DB code, it is possible for a configuration
file to become corrupted. The Messaging Server will remove a severly
corrupted config file, but there is a threshold of corruption that may
impact server operation and may not cause files to be deleted.
<P>
If you notice that one of the config files is gone (your server won't start),
or that your server is acting strangely, DO NOT REPLACE IT WITH A BACKUP COPY.
This will most likely re-introduce the corruption. Instead, make note of
all the configuration changes you've made with the Messaging Server admin gui.
The easiest way to do this is to print out each page. Then replace the
config file with a clean one from the install directory or from the media.
<P>
Before re-starting the server, check each admin gui page to make sure it
matches your printout, and make any necessary changes. Then start the server.
<P>
The installed configuration files are located in the message spool area,
by default: /var/spool/postoffice/config and they are:<BR>

Mailbox-Deliver<BR>
POP3-Server<BR>
Program-Deliver<BR>
SMTP-Accept<BR>

UNIX-Deliver<BR>
<P>
Un-configured copies of all these files may be found under the directory
you installed the server at:
<P>
/install/server/data<BR>
<P>
The fresh files will all have a .install appended to them.Shut the computer dow, remove the power cord and all peripherals, wait for 30 seconds, replace the power cod and press the start button at the same time.

Server won't start and JAR files
My application uses external classes (quartz, jersey, jackson) and I included all the jar files containing the external classes in the WEB-INF\lib directory of the EAR file already. I deployed it to WLS 10.3.5 on windows but when I tried to start it up, it failed to start up.
I copied all those jar files and put them in the <domain>\lib directory and add in the classpath section on the ServerStart tab of the server then it started up.
I thought if you include those jar files in the WEB-INF\lib of the EAR file then you don't need to put them in the <domain>\lib and specify in the classpath section?
Do you have any ideas?Sorry, I meant WEB-INF\lib in the WAR file inside my EAR.
I put all the jar files in the WEB-INF\lib of the WAR file but it still does not work. I have to specify them in the classpaths and put the jar files in the domains\domain\lib directory
I thought if you put it in the WEB-INF\lib then you don't have to put them in the classpath.
