Message to Creative La

Dear Creative Labs:
As a once valued customer I now feel completely betrayed by your unlawful and unethical business pratices. While as a former Aureal user, I turned a blind eye chalking it up to Aureal being careless. However after reviewing your business practices, customer support issues, and product support regarding the the Daniel_K incident, I am ceasing and decisting in the purchase and recommendation of any and all Creative made or licensed products marketed by yourselves and your subsideries.
Your claimed support of the Windows Vista operating system needs to be seriously addressed not only by the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Consumer Advocates Commission, but review by the Federal Trade Commission, the FCC, as well as a full government inquiry as to why you have willingly chosen to cripple and falsify the status of marketed products regarding Windows Vista. I also feel Microsoft should re-evaluate your status of Vista readiness and determine to it's own customers if you are indeed ready for Vista as you so claim. Not limited to this, the FCC and Federal Trade Commission need to submit an inquiry into your past and present business practices not limited to the disolution and assimilation of Aureal Semiconductor in hearings regarding Monopolostic practices upon an industry.
As concerning you actions against the user Daniel_K for modifying and redistributing software you willingly profided free of charge through your website's support section, I am disgusted you have attempt this action which by all legal definition is illegal. It is commonplace many hardware vendors have allowed specialized tweaks and redistribution of software and drivers to extend performance and function of their hardware as a good-will jesture provided no monitary gain such as profiteering by sales of said software and/or the software was illegally moddified to distribute malicious software. Such practices are considered by law as legal for users to do provided the original EULA and Licenses were included with the distribution.
I had been looking into the purchase and recommendation of your products via my small business of system building, modification, and reclaimation for my customers as well as myself as you so claimed to have the best comprehensi've support of your products. Since this has proven to be false not only by your admittance to self-induced product crippling as well but through the actions of users such as Daniel_K, I am hereby no longer going to be do business using your products and products of your subsideries and will be taking any business elsewhere. I refuse to do business with a company of very low standards and amoral practices towards its own customers. Not limited to this, I also refuse to do business due to the fact you falsely advertsied your products to your customers and falsified your support of said products.
I sincerely hope your company will retract any claims against it's users regarding said issues and will begin providing the proper level of support for 00% support of products in and out of market as well as apologize to all users past and present for provided subpar support for products you willingly marketed falsely. Until such a event is executed by your company and staff, I as well as others are withdrawing any and all business with your company and said products.
For the future and for reference I am hereby going to be offering products containing chipsets from such vendors as RealTek Semiconductor, VIA Technologies, C-Media, AsusTech, and other providers as they have far greater levels of support for their products and do not the need to falsify claims and certifications of their products to make sales to consumers.
Thank you,
James Powell

  • MESSAGE FOR CREATIVE

?This message is for you creative. This is not a joke take care of this message!
Creative you are the worse companie in pc hardware, right now and you know and your customer know, you are running into the "FAIL" you are selling product with no customer support at all notthing dont say that am worng I know you know and all know you are really really bad with customer support LOL!!! even DELL are better then you OMG I cant belei've DELL is not the worse but CREATIVE XD and god **bleep** talk about driver now? how long your last driver was in beta maybe like year? XD even DELL are faster to solve a problem!! OMG I cant belei've I again said this! OMG XD and well if my warranty is still good I sent my soundcard back and want to be payback because now is ridiculous how dumb you think your customer are --
NOOB CREATIVE NOOB even the worse NOOB in the WORLD are less NOOB then you(creative) OMG I punch creative in the face !

    ?oh mate....
i couldn't agree with you more but... if you want to be heard (not in the case of creative because clearly, what they've shown us is that they don't give a... turd) you might as well improve on the way you're going to express your feelings. clearly, calling names and writing a whole paragraph without a single "full stop" isn't the ticket to "paradise".
make a nice "letter", improve on the language, use proper grammar etc. after you finish with what you want to state, read it with clear mind and if you like it, post it.
it will be far more appreciated by the other users (cause as i previously stated, creative will not trouble themselves no matter what) and maybe you'll make them back you up with all these things you're expressing.
it's good to be able to state your thoughts but it will have a far stronger impact if you do it the right way
    Cheers !!!

  • A message to Creative from the Linux and geek users commun

Please pardon the possible misspellings/syntax errors in this post, as English is not my nati've language. I am still confident that you will grasp the essence of my message. Thank you.
I have been following the downfall of Creative in the last few days, and all I can say is : You had it coming. I am another customer who was decei'ved by buying one of your expensi've product. I spent 450$ on your X-Fi Elite pro, only to wait endlessly for stable vista drivers, which are still unstable and crippled. Yes, I know you had problems with how Microsoft changed completely its audio API a few months before launching, but the fact is that this is stuff that can happen, and you had to allocate more budget in order to develop drivers quickly to satisfy your customers. Instead, you just ignored us. And now you're paying for it.
It's kind of sad that your stock price is falling, but at the same time, it's about time the consumers could unite and get their revenge, and you are actually paying for laughing in our faces for so long. I have been waiting and waiting for a driver for Linux, since you would not provide stable drivers for Vista. Your website dedicated to open source drivers looks like it was coded in 995, with crappy graphics, just to show us that you don't care. And after waiting for over a year for drivers, you gave us a non-working driver, and you won't post any updates at all. ?
I shell out 450$ for an X-FI Elite Pro, and you laugh into my face, not once (with sub-par drivers for Vista and a long wait), but twice with your non-working Linux drivers ? I'm disgusted.
I wish your corporate people would understand what just happened, and listen to us, the geeky consumers, who buy, recommend, and install your products for themselves, customers, friends, and family. ? But I know that it does not work that way. Your marketing people, your legal department, your finance departement and all your corporate structure don't CARE about the end-user, but you have made a big mistake by ignoring us all these years. If you want to save your company, you really, really need to open up and develop a totally different relationship with your customer base. But knowing how this works, I'm sure that :?
    . Nobody important in the company structure will take time to read this thread, hoping it will go away, and thinking that the new product lines will make us forget all of this;
    2. You will not take this Public Relations Disaster seriously and think it will simply disapear
Well let me tell you what's gonna happen : Don't underestimate us, your customers. We will remember what happened in the past few days, but also how you treated us in the past few years. Unless you radically change your practices, and really show good faith, you are certainly going down. I, for one, am considering selling my X-Fi Elite Pro and rely only on onboard sound because at least the drivers work on all available platforms. But if you only knew how I wished to have decent support under Linux or Vista ! But you don't even talk with us, you provide crappy drivers and then forget us !? That's not the way to treat us !? So, unless you provide more than your little PR stunt of april st, where you don't even apologize and recognize your lack of support, I will never buy any of your products again, and I will tell everybody I know to stay away from your products.
Be aware : This is not a feeling that will go away in a few weeks/few months. I have been using Creative Cards since 996, and have always been a loyal customer, but I implore you to change, and to do it fast. I really hope you do.
Thank you for your time. ?

Thank you Igor, your article is very interesting indeed, and thanks for the other responses as well, it is really appreciated.
I recently tried OSS on Linux, which offers partial support for the X-FI, but with no success. I fear that without any proper documentation provided to ALSA, the complexity of the X-Fi hardware won't allow the development of acceptable drivers for Linux anytime soon. As for Creative development for Linux, well, just go and check out their support page : http://opensource.creative.com/soundcard.html.
It is beyond my comprehension as to why Creative simply refuses to document its hardware. I mean, I know about IP considerations and such, but the reality is that Creative has a very large part of the market for high-end audio products, and they do not have yet any serious competitors for the gaming/music enthusiast market who don't want to rely on onboard audio. (I know about M-Audio and a few others, but they mainly appeal to profesionals). So, to document their hardware for the open source community has more benefits than risks, since they don't have to pay for driver development, and since they almost sued daniel_K, I'm not afraid that their legal department would track anyone who would try to breach any IP rights by developing some hardware with the documentation they would release. So WHY ? WHY Creative, won't you release proper documentation? Why won't you help us help you ? Is it just by ideology ? That opening your code is bad ? Well, you're wrong. ?
But it may not be too late, should you *AT LEAST* provide us communication about what's going on at Creative regarding open source. Is it that hard for a Multinational Firm to hire a few developers to develop a driver for Linux ? Why won't you put up a blog for your developer, who can talk about what they're doing, what are the limitations, the hurdles, but at least show a little transparency and stop pretending you really care. ?

  • A message from Creative to the Sound Blaster forum participa

We have read the strong feedback about Creative's forum post regarding driver development by Daniel_k and other outside parties. Creative's message posted on our behalf by our Company spokesperson tried to address our concern about the improper distribution of certain software which is the property of other companies. However, we did not make it as clear as we would have liked that we do support driver development by independent third parties. The huge task of developing driver updates to accommodate the many changes in the Vista operating system and the extensi've testing required, including the lengthy Vista certification requirements for audio, makes it very difficult for Creative to develop updates for all past products. Outside developers have been very helpful to Creative and our customers by developing updates for many of our Sound Blaster products, and we do support and appreciate these efforts. This however does not extend to the unauthorized distribution of other companies' property. We hope to work out a mutually agreeable method for working with Daniel_k in supporting his efforts in driver development. Going forward, we are committed to doing a better job of working more closely with third parties to support their development for our products and our customers.

May I be the first to say:
Thank you for finally responding. :smileyvery-happy:
It may be the beginning of repairing Creative's unfathomably huge PR snafu. Hopefully you guys can pull this one off, starting with this thread. If you can actually take this and turn the whole company around with it, I'm sure many Creative swear-offers may once again return to your products. By turning around, I mean:
    - Quit crippling hardware with bad (or intentionally bad) software. Yes, other companies (like nVidia, Intel, AMD, etc...) do this to maintain low production cost, but when it does work, it works well, and their products are branded as "lower priced alternati'ves". Everyone's seen unpopulated component pads on hardware boards, which entices people to want to buy the full featured version. But doing it between operating systems is absolutely ridiculous!
    - Support the driver community. Drivers dri've hardware. No drivers, no hardware! Concentrate as much effort on your drivers as you do your excellent hardware, and you will have a high quality product once again. I still love that the old ISA Sound Blasters often had built-in speaker amplifiers. That's a mark of quality and creativity. Hopefully you can do it again!
    - Rethink your corporate strategy. Everyone now knows about Creative's history of buying up companies to stifle competition... you've got to quit that stuff. It may give you more capital, but doing it in a Microsoftian fashion is just bound to get you bad press that your company isn't Microsoft-sized enough to handle. Again.
    - While Windows Vista may be the worst operating system in existence, that in no way gives you the right to refuse support on older hardware when it's darn well capable of being supported. nVidia and ATI are shining examples of this - they still support their most ancient of hardware in the newest operating systems. That's what's given me the ability to put [url="http://nliteos.com">nLite[/url]ned versions of Windows XP on darn near every computer I come across, and make it run better than ever. You need to quit spewing out excuses and start spewing out working drivers.
    - And for crying out loud, your driver self extractor is atrocious. It doesn't need to rattle off the CRC as it computes each byte. I can't be the only person that is annoyed by that
With that, let's see the news flow right on in.

  • Message to Creative Admin - Any word when the beta drivers become

Why is it that it seems creatives driver cycle is every 3 - 0 months??One of the things I believe that EA/DICE has done a great job with the BF2 is keeping everyone updated with the status of the patches... Everyone knows that BF2 was ridden with bugs.. and if you read some of the forum most were pretty upset but for the most part they were happy when they heard that their issues were being addressed and had some time frame when the next patch was going to be out that resolved those issues... They even gave a taste of some of the enhancements? (ADDED BONUS)?Creative, take a play from EA/DICE.... You have potential customers of a new product that browses the forums for feedback on the product. Most tech savy are not compulsi've buyers and we do our research... Reading all of the negati've messages on this forum really causes me to pause about this significant purchase... Im not trying to bash... But how is your development organization run?So... To keep this short... Please provide your current customers with the progress of the drivers in development; In turn... Your potential customers will see that issues are being addressed and their purchase is well spent!Message Edited by mikelebron on 02-22-200606:57 PM

  • An OPen Message To Creative

bought your Webcam Live Ultra and began the software installation. I read the entire EULA. During the installation, my security software set multiple alerts because your installer was attempting to modify my security settings and change my browser. The installer attempted to add a third party site to the "Trusted Zone", added a LSP, and added three links to my browser. All this was done without notification in the EULA and without explicit permission from me--no pop-up or any other notification came from the installer, nothing was mentioned of this in the EULA.
I strongly suspect that by doing so you may be in violation of the laws of several countries including the United States, Great Britain, and Australia...just ask Sony about those laws. Regardless, you modified my computer security settings and added software without permission or notification of any sort. You have made a customer, now a former customer, extremely angry.
I demand an explanation. If one is not forthcoming, details of this action by your software will appear on my web site and on other web sites that have global reach.
I trust that I will be hearing from you soon.

    lalirivero,
What happens if you restart the Creative Cloud application by quitting and relaunching it and if you run the Cleaner Tool, then try to reinstall?
