Messages in Web DYNPRO

Hi Gurus,
Can anybody help me to learn different types of messaging in Web Dynpro?
And some links to learn all about messaging in web dynpro.

Dear Veera
There are two ways to define where messages are to be displayed on the screen:
1. The default position of the message area is on top of the page. If this position
is fine, the developer does not have do anything.
2. If a position different from the default message area position is desired,
the MessageArea container UI element has to be used. A MessageArea UI
element can be defined as a sub-element of all other container elements.
Message Handling
In the Web Dynpro application, you can set the way messages are displayed. On
the Properties tab of a Web Dynpro application, message handling can be defined
by setting the radio button to the following values:
• Show Message Component on Demand
If at least one message is reported, the message area is displayed in a
group-box style. The message area contains the last message and information
about the number of messages reported in total. In addition, a button is
displayed, allowing the user to display all messages in a list. Messages
related to UI elements are displayed as links. Selecting such a link navigates
to the UI element related to the message.
• Always Display Message Component
In addition to the behavior described above, the message area is also
displayed if no message is reported.
• Display Messages Without Message Component
All messages reported are displayed in the message area. This area does not
have a group-box style, but it is transparent. All messages are displayed
at once; no extra navigation is required to obtain the list of all messages.
Messages related to UI elements are displayed as links. Selecting such a link
navigates to the UI element related to the message.
Methods for Defining Messages:
In order to report a message, methods of the IF_WD_MESSAGE_MANAGER
interface have to be used. The Web Dynpro runtime automatically instantiates a
class implementing this interface. The reference to this class can be obtained from
the self reference WD_THIS, using the expressions:
r_api = wd_this->wd_get_api().
r_mmanager = r_api->get_message_manager().
Methods
REPORT_ATTRIBUTE_ERROR_MESSAGE (Parameter PARAMS)
REPORT_SUCCESS (Parameter PARAMS)
REPORT_WARNING (Parameter PARAMS)
REPORT_ERROR_MESSAGE (Parameter PARAMS)
REPORT_FATAL_ERROR_MESSAGE (Parameter PARAMS)
REPORT_ATTRIBUTE_EXCEPTION NO (Parameters ELEMENT, ATTRIBUTE_NAME)
REPORT_FATAL_EXCEPTION
REPORT_ATTRIBUTE_T100_MESSAGE (Parameters P1, P2, P3, P4)

  • How to display an error Message in Web Dynpro

    Hello,
    I want to display an error message in Web Dynpro. I'm using this,
    IWDMessageManager message = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
    message.reportSuccess("<some relevant debug message>");
    However, the message is always shown at the bottom of the screen. It is possible to select the location in the screen for showing this object? Or what is the best way for doing this? I've tried to use a Label but I can't set the type (warning, error, info) it's only a message.
    Thanks
    Regards

  • The Web Dynpro Application 'XssMenu' has expired

    Hi,
    we implement an ESS Scenario, with One Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP17, a mySAP ECC 5.0 System with ERP2004 and a seperate server with a java stack, because our customer don´t want to install and use a java stack on their HR/ERP systems. They want to minimize the performance.
    After some configurations, we get the startpage for ESS. If I click on a service like travel management it has no effect. If I click the second time, I got an error "500 Internal Server Error" with the message
    The Web Dynpro Application 'XssMenu' has expired. Please restart the application either with the refresh button or click the following link XssMenu.
    Same error comes, if I choose travel management in the second navigation level and click the service. And same message on every service.
    Now I tried anotehr way. I call the ess startpage directly on the external java stack. And here´s no problem. All WebDynpro-Services works fine.
    Can anyone help me, why the WebDynpro Service doesn´t work in the Portal?
    Best regards
    Christian

    We had exactly the same problem.  We had multiple java servers and our switch was not retaining stickiness.  So it would send the user to a different java server which hadn't got any session data for that user.
    If this could be it, get something like httplook to do a trace of what is happening.  We saw it switching java servers.
    If you do not have multiple servers it could be switches chopping out cookies, causing the same issue.

  • The Web Dynpro application XssMenuArea is expired

    Some of our clients when click tab "Employee Self Service" the
    information menu wonu2019t be displayed and the screen has the following

      When manually click the "restart" hyper-link, the screen leaves
    blank. But the above phenomenon differs from clients. The Same account

  • Web Dynpro application session expired

    Hi SDN,
    We have installed a new NW04s system and patched it with SP13
    I  can access SAP J2EE Engine start page  without any problem. But when  I click on  “Web Dynpro Content Administrator” and click any of the buttons “Create Jco Destination” or “Check SLD”. I am getting an error message:
             The Web Dynpro Application 'Explorer' has expired. Restart the application using the Refresh button or via the following link Explorer.
    I get same error message when I go to ''Netweaver Adminstration'' and  click on any of the links “Administration”, “Configuration” or “Monitoring” .
    Any suggestion how to solve this issue...
    Thanks and Regards
    rajendra

    The expiry happens if there is significant time difference between where a logon ticket was created and where you are accessing. Equally time synchronisation should be on across the entire network.
    Equally you may be using a ticket from another system due to the same domain.
    In this case it looks like your SLD is on another server?... i sthe same time synchronisation product used between the two?

  • How to -format text  in web dynpro?

    Hi all,
    I want to display text messages in web dynpro in different colors.
    and also to display some text in bold, some in italics etc
    How can i achieve that?
    Points assured for help?

    shobhendra,
    Direct support for rich-formatted text is not available in current release of WD Java (though it exists in NW04s WD ABAP).
    For workaround (HTML display) please refer my blog post:

  • Translating Web Dynpro Standard Components texts ?

    Hello
    I am testing NWDW 7.0 SP3 and i want to make a Web application in my own language (Serbian, Serbo - Croatian).
    I have found a lot of documentation about creating international Web Dynpro applications where developers can translate their own texts and messages, but i am interested in translating standard texts and messages in Web Dynpro components (Like months, errors in validation, etc.). How can i create my own MessageBundle.properties file for NW app server 7.0 and use it for my language, or maybe use some other translations and change only messages that i want in that translation?

    Hi,
    The Internationalization Service of the Web Dynpro Runtime Services supports this PropertyResourceBundle concept and allows easy access to the classes java.util.ResourceBundle and java.text.format. With the class com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.localization.api.WDResourceHandler, you can read the language-specific text elements using the following source code:
    // Load the resource bundle u201CMyResourceBundle.propertiesu201D located
    // in the package u201Ccom.sap.testu201D for locale set in the resource handler.
    // Therefore, the resource handler also needs the classloader that has
    // the package u201Ccom.sap.testu201D in its scope
    resourceHandler.loadResourceBundle(u201Ccom.sap.test.MyResourceBundleu201D, this.getClass() );
    // get the message of the u201Cpress saveu201D button
    String saveMessage = resourceHandler.getString( u201Cpress_saveu201D );
    Example of a Properties File
    A properties file contains simple name/value pairs for a specific language ID, as the following example of a properties file ResourceTest.properties (generated automatically by the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio) shows:
    Resource bundle for Test
    message pool
    message.error1 = Runtime error
    message.warning1 = You have to re-deploy your application!
    view TestViewInternationalization
    view.TestViewInternationalization.DefaultTextView.text = Hello World!

  • Adobe Interactive Forms - Check Web Dynpro Script

    Created a Web Dynpro application with Adobe Interactive Form. Form interactive etc.
    Typed in the template source, names for interface and selected the context element where to create the interface etc.
    Changed the layout to ZCI, got an error message "Check Web Dynpro Script" but the Utilities => Insert Web Dynpro Script is and remains inactive.
    Any pointers in solving this?

    Initially no need to insert webdynpro script. Once you create interface & form then Activate the interface then check it may work out.

  • How to display the error message during the web dynpro application runtime

    hi,
        I'm a java developer,During i 'deploy and run ' a web dynpro application on server-1,if the application have some runtime errors. there are displayed many infomation about the runtime error,such as exception track,etc.
        But when i do the same on server-2,there just show something like:

                                    SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.00/Java AS 7.00
                Failed to process request. Please contact your system administrator.

    The Sap-Notes 962319:
    1. Check in the Visual Administrator, "Licensing Adapter" -> "General" -> "SystemType" !
    If it is set to "DEVELOPMENT_MODE", verbose error messages are shown.
    If it is undefined, proceed with the next step.
    If it is set to something else, only exception IDs are shown. In this case the only chance is to search for this exception ID in the default traces.
    2. If the system type is undefined, then in the Config Tool "Configurations" -> "webdynpro" -> "sap.com" -> "tcwddispwda" -> "Propertysheet default" -> "DevelopmentMode" is evaluated. If it is "true", verbose error messages are shown.
    3. If verbose error messages are required but still the short version is shown, you probably face an error message that is not raised by Web Dynpro but by other components of the NetWeaver. In the Visual Administrator set "Properties" -> "HTTP Provider" -> "DetailedErrorResponse" to "true".
    4. In addition to the error page shown in the browser or client, important messages - including error messages and stack traces - are written to the log and trace files, e.g. to the default traces usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<number>\log\defaulttrace.trc.<number>.
    a) In some cases, when an exception ID is included in the error message, the detailed error message can easily be retrieved in the log file.
    b) When no exception ID is given, you have to search for the detailed error message in the log specifying time stamp and/or user ID.
    Always consider restarting the system after making changes on the settings.
    It is not recommended to switch the "SystemType" to an inappropriate value just for viewing verbose error messages. The system type potentially affects framework, applications and licensing in an perhaps unintended way.
    In the past there was no distinction between different system types regarding error messages. For security reasons this distiction has been introduced. It is not intended to show stack traces in non-development systems in the future. SAP does not provide workarounds or patches to enable such a behaviour again.

    Probably the usual problem of deploying an application built with a newer NWDS (SP11) on an older server (SP9).
    But without the stacktrace this is only a guess.

    Hi,
    I got your point.. in the BIND_TABLE( set_intiail_elemts = abap_true) change this to ABAP_FALSE.
    Because of this you are gettng the intiial values. Eventhough your table has no BALNK/space records.
    bind a single element
      node->bind_table(
        new_items             =  lt_year_list
        set_initial_elements = abap_true ).
    change as
    bind a single element
      node->bind_table(
        new_items             =  lt_year_list
        set_initial_elements = abap_false ).
    You can use this code - I have tjhe dropdwon for projects event I'm doing the same.
    navigate from <CONTEXT> to <PROJECT> via lead selection
      lo_nd_project = wd_context->get_child_node( 'PROJECT' ).
    ***Gets the selected project id from drop down
      if lo_nd_project is not initial.
        CALL METHOD lo_nd_project->GET_LEAD_SELECTION
          RECEIVING
            ELEMENT = lo_el_project.
    get all declared attributes
        if lo_el_project is not initial.
          lo_el_project->get_static_attributes(
            IMPORTING
              static_attributes = ls_project ).
    change your code to
    lo_nd_year_list = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_year_list ).
    ***Gets the selected project id from drop down
      if lo_nd_year_list is not initial.
        CALL METHOD lo_nd_year_list->GET_LEAD_SELECTION
          RECEIVING
            ELEMENT =  lo_el_year_list .
      IF lo_el_year_list IS NOT INITIAL.
        get single attribute
        lo_el_year_list->get_attribute(
          EXPORTING
            name =  `YEAR`
          IMPORTING
            value = lv_year ).

  • How to display Popup message in ABAP Web Dynpro

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to display popup messages like SAP to collect information from the user? is it possible to display information messages like SAP? If possible, Please let me know how to handle in Web Dynpro.
