Messages Not Saving Whole Conversations

I noticed that Messages was not saving whole conversations (where it asks you to "load earlier messages" at the top). In the settings for Spotlight I had Messages checked off.
Is the Spotlight setting for having access to Messages directly related to whether or not Messages does not cut off conversations?
Thanks.

iOS: Understanding Spotlight Search
It doesn't cut off conversation when your messages are too long its like its archived which shows "load earlier messages".
You can try this http://www.ecamm.com/

  • Sent messages not saved in sent mailbox

Lately some iCloud sent messages are not saved in the sent mailbox.  this is an intermitant problem.  sometimes msgs go to the outbox even though mail is on line; when they are eventually sent sometimes they do not make it to the sent mailbox.  I call the recipient and the msg has actually been received.  The lost messages do not appear in iCloud.  Rebuild does not help.  any suggestions?

Tks for your answer. I have a .Mac account and in already try in Preferences-Accounts- and I only see three tabs: " Account Information ", " Mailboxes Behaivor " and " Advanced ". I don´t see the " Special Mailboxes " tab that you mention and I have also read about it. In Mailboxes Behaivor I can choose the option " Store sent messages on the server " and the Delete sent messages option is in " Never". If I choose not to Store sent messages on the server, nothing seems to happen. I hope you can help me with this information and I want to thank you again

  • Imap to mail, read messages not saving

Hi -- I keep asking this of the "mac geniuses" and in the other discussions and I am getting nowhere.
I use Mail to access my AOL mailbox (I know, I know). AOL uses IMAP.
Mail does NOT save read or sent mail more than the X number of days specified by whatever AOL sets it at. My mailbox keeps synching with AOL and then NOT saving my read messages. Why aren't my read messages saved into my IN box? I do not want them saved ad infinitum on AOL's server, I just want them on my computer, automatically, so I can peruse read messages and make use of them six months from now. Why won't Mail let my read messages remain? Why must it overwrite my in box with what's in my AOL mailbox? HOW DO I AUTOMATE THIS?
This seems simple, yet I have had two Mac geniuses argue with me that "it's already doing that" and one mac support person say "I can try to troubleshoot that for $49.95" and I am getting nowhere.
How do I get Mail to SAVE MY READ MAIL?
Thanks in advance. But I am not very hopeful. This kinda *****.

Since an AOL account must be created as an IMAP type account in Mail and the same with other email clients other than the AOL program, mailboxes stored on the server for IMAP type accounts in Mail and with other email clients are synchronized with the server.
This is an AOL setting or problem at their server. You need to contact AOL regarding changing this setting for automatically removing messages from the server. There is no setting in Mail that causes this. When AOL automatically removes messages from a server stored mailbox after a designated period of time, the Mail.app is only synchronizing server stored mailboxes with the server.
When creating an IMAP type account in Mail, the only account mailbox that is stored on the server by default is the account's Inbox mailbox which cannot be changed.
You have the choice to save the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server or locally on the hard drive which is available under the Special Mailboxes tab for the account preferences.
To fix the Sent messages problem, do not store Sent messages on the server. When storing sent messages locally on the hard drive, it doesn't matter what AOL does.
For messages received by the account, utilize an existing or create a new "On My Mac" location mailbox which is stored locally on the hard drive. Once a week or so or daily, transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to a user created "On My Mac" mailbox which will store the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and remove the messages from the server at the same time.

  • Messages not showing previous conversations

After replacing a failing hard drive and tranferring files back to my computer, I opened the Messages app to find that while the people I had messaged were still there (on the left hand side), the actual content of the conversations were not.
I have a back up of my computer on a portable hard drive, could the archived messages be there somewhere?
I recently deleted many out-of-date conversations/messages on my iPhone, could that have contributed to the problem somehow?
Messages that I've sent/recieved today seem to be working just fine (on both phone and computer), so it seems like the "solution" is just to start fresh without any previous conversations. Just thought I'd check here first to see if anyone knew how to/if I could get them back?
I'm using OS X, version 10.8.5, and an iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3.
    Cheers!

    Hi,
iMessages are stored in a database called chat.db
This is in the ~/Library/Messages folder  (~/Library is short for Harddrive name/Users/(your shortname)/Library)
Enter the path in the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder dialogue box.
The trouble with now use Time Machine to "restore" the older saved version is it will not merge the new stuff.
The "sync" as Apple calls the process that shows the iMessages on all devices is just that (Display on All Devices) and is not is any other way a method of deleting them elsewhere and it changing what is on other devices.
(Read and Delivered also have little meaning on items that appear on one device as a result of the "sync").

  • Message not saved in sent messages folder

    Hi everybody,
When I send a mail by the Collaboration Launch Pad and check the option: "Save copy in Sent Messages Folder" I get this error:
"Message has been sent, but could not be saved in the sent messages folder; check the mail server entry in your user mapping data."
Please is anybody there who can help me to properly configurate that option or tell me how to remove it from the body?
    Thanks in advance,
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
Saving the mesage means writing that e-mail in the senders "sent item" folder in the mailbox. Thus make sure that the users mail server name and user and password is correct for the system Exchange.
    Also check SAP Note 738965.
Also there is this this specific port that should be open on the SMTP server for the mail to be saved  in the "sent items" folder. I dont remember what port is it. Will try to figure out and let you know.
Also make sure that your Exchange transport has the sent items folder name.
    Akhilesh
Using telnet check that the SMTP server can be reached on port 25. If not then there is no way you can save the messages in the sent items folder using the collaboration tools.

  • Sent messages not saving on Exchange server

Does anyone know how to get emails sent from an MS Exchange account in Mail 8.2 to save (either in Sent folder on local machine or preferably on the Exchange server)?
"Store sent messages on the server" is selected, but this doesn't work on any of my Exchange accounts. Mail is set to automatically maintain exchange account settings. At the moment I'm BCC'ing all sent messages to myself and then dragging them into the relevant Sent folder, which is syncing with server so I can see messages on other computers, but this isn't really satisfactory long term. The problem has only arisen since "upgrading" to Yosemite.

Something is wrong with the Mail app the last week and half or so.  Messages are disappearing, not getting synched, don't stay in the saved folders they are moved to, jump back at later dates (even days later) to the original inboxes, etc.  Very unstable and unreliable.  It was working better for a few months before this latest update, but is an absolutely messy nightmare right now. Changes made in Apple Mail are not getting reflected in other mail apps or on the external mail servers in a reliable, usefull manner.  Some do, some don't.   Use another mail app until Apple gets this fixed.

  • Messages not working properly, conversations not syncing

    Macbook Pro 15" Mid-2010, Mac OS 10.10.1; iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.0, Messages
When I receive an iMessage on my iPhone, the message is successfully pushed to my Mac and I get a notification in Notification Center. That's fine. However, when I launch Messages either by clicking the notification when it appears or by opening the app, no conversations appear (window displays "no conversations selected") and after a while it just leaves me with a blank window and only minimize / fullscreen enabled. The majority of options on the dropdown menus are also greyed out.
Considering that the messages themselves are successfully getting pushed to my Mac, I don't think it's an account issue. It seems as though the app is getting hung up trying to load up my conversations.
Any ideas as to what's going on? I originally had this issue on 10.10.0 so I thought that it may have been a bug and updated to 10.10.1. It only started happening a few days ago, I've been running Mac OS 10.10.X since several days after launch with no issues.

    Hi,
In the Font Book app it does not appear alphabetically and is well down the list.
In my list there are only four fonts below it.
You can also check the Folder it is supposed to be in Manually.
Open the Hard Drive icon on the Desktop then /Library/Fonts
This is an unusual place for a "required" Font  which normally are found in Hard Drive Name/System/Library/Fonts
It will be easier to reinstall the OS if it is Missing.

  • Message not showing full conversation and can't see incoming messages

I just started having a problem with "Messages" on my iPod Touch 4G.  When I click to see a conversation, I have to scroll way down to see it...but can only see part of it.  And all conversations are the same, so I have lost conversations with others as they have been replaced by this one particular conversation.
In addition, I get the pop-up when a new message has come in, but when I go into "Messages" to read the full thing, it's not there.  Any ideas?

If you did an OS reinstall did the problem Go away ?
If so what is the issue as nothing you do now is going to change things ?

  • Messages not saved in Adobe Send

I'm not finding any way to access the messages that were sent to recipients in Adobe Send.  I can access the files that were sent and see who they were sent to and the date they were sent, but I'm unable to find the messages that were written to the client when the files were sent.  This is a critical 'paper trail', as comments made along with sending the files can be very important to retain.  Since this functionality doesn't seem to exist, I have resorted to sending an email to the client containing my message, and telling them that they'll receive the file link soon, then sending the file via Adobe Send.  This is not a good solution.  Please add this functionality back, as it existed in SendNow.  Or please let me know if I'm missing where to find the messages.

See: Is there a way to view the messages I sent along with files in Adobe Send?

  • Text messages not appearing in conversation window automatically

If i'm in a text window and I receive a new msg from the other party, I have to exit the conversation window, into the main messages screen and then go back into the conversation to see the new message, instead of it just automatically popping up in the window... ??  help please!! Thanks!

all fixed.... a simple reset was all that was required.

  • Copy ONLY ONE sms not a whole conversation from PC...

What I am actually trying to do is copy a couple of texts from Ovi Suite back to my Nokia 5230. This is to resolve an argument so can't forward to my self since the sender would then be me!
I know i can copy conversations but this is 280 messages. i really don't want to copy that many and then have to delete all except two!
Is there a way I can do this?
Your help would be greatly appreciated

You should be able to simply drag and drop a message from your computer to the phone, simply  click on the text you  want and drag to the phone window in Nokia suite !
If I have helped at all, a click on the White Star is always appreciated :
you can also help others by marking 'accept as solution'

  • Draft Messages Not Saving Attachments

If I save a message with more than one attachment as a draft, when I go to reopen it, it will only have one attachment.
Oddly, it will show all the attachments in the preview pane, but when I actually open the message to finish and send it, only the first attachment is still there.
I'm using a POP account in Mail 2.1 on an iBook G4 running Tiger.
    I've tried:
    - trashing the Drafts folder in the user library.
    - running all MacJanitor maintanence tasks
    - repairing permissions
Nothing seems to have worked. Any suggestions?

    Add-on to previous mail
Just to add the full data from my testing. I've tried to test the different permutations of using the Attach functionality vs using drag-and-drop, of adding text or not in the email, and of adding 1 or more attachments.
    I'm getting the following results
Attach - 1 file - No text = No issue
    Attach - 2 files - No text = 2nd file disappears
Attach - 1 file - With text = text and file both disappear
Attach - 2 files - With text = text and 2nd file disappear
Repeating these 4 scenarios using drag-and-drop instead of Attach, no problems occur.
    I'm using Mail 2.1.1 under OSX 10.4.9
Any similar experiences, or even better, help on fixing this, would be really welcomed!

I accidentally deleted an entire conversation when just trying to delete a couple of messages!  Help!!!!  Is there any way to get it back without losing the messages Ive recieved and sent since my last backup?  Or do I have to restore my iphone from its last back up and lose all the other messages (it was last backed up yesterday

  • Not saving import conversion

I have been trying to import a 1.5GB .mp4 into iMovie.  The import takes about 7 hours and then just disappears.  Any ideas why this happens?
    Thanks

iMovie is meant for camcorder imports.
your file is 'something else' (DVD rip, I assume)
problem is, any import triggers routines in iM, to convert material into something suiteable for editing => huge files (~40GBs/h), time consuming process (you found out that ).
just a guess, but in this case, your Mac is sheer overwhelmed by amount of datas.
reason could be a problem with drive-space, a partitioned drive etc etc.
    two options:
    • use a diff. app which handles yourr source natively; for basic 'cuts', free Mpeg Streamclip would be my choice
    • if optinal, convert the very orignal into smallerr chunks + to AppleIntermediateCodec, iMovies own, internal format.
