Messages Server doesn't allow login of any user

I've tried setting up a messages server on two different networks and have yet to be able to get a running messages server. Everything feels as though it setup correctly, but when I try to connect a user to the server, it continuosly says the password is incorrect. Below are my settings.

I could fix the problem.
stop the jabber server (sudo serveradmin stop jabber)
The entry in part <local> in /Library/Server/Messages/Config/jabberd/sm.xml was like
<id>domain.local</id>
I changed it to the real local domain of the server like
<id>server.domain.lan</id>
started the server and it works now
(sudo serveradmin start jabber)

Error message, "server does not allow relaying". Resolution?

After I updated to iOS 7, my iPad stopped sending email from my primary account. The Error message indicated an incorrect address, which was my email address@the IMAP server. I deleted the account and re-entered the information. Now the error message says, "Server doesn't allow for relaying". Seeing as it did before, I assume this is correctable. Couldn't find any info on how to do so. Help?

When you checked the information, did you check the outgoing server settings?
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

I have a hard time describing this exactly, so I copied this from another thread. This seems to be a recent issue with AOL email accounts on the iPad the past few days. I have two AOL accounts and they work fine. See if this works for you.
+If you cannot send, under the smtp server your user name and password must be entered even though the prompt tells you it is optional. As a mobile device the port used is different from the one I would normally use if at home and therefore validation is required by use of the password. The normal port for the smtp server is 110 but to use on a mobile unit like the iPad port 587 is used.+
The big thing is to make sure that your username and password are filled in - Select your email account in the Mail setting and tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Outgoing Mail Server and then tap on the arrow next to smtp server under the Primary Server and fill in the information in there.
Some times you have to resort to deleting the account and starting over again.

Sun Java System Messaging Server doesn't support some ISO 8859 charsets

I couldn't find any link to report bugs on the Sun Java System Messaging Server, so i guess i'll report it here:
Sun Java System Messaging Server currently doesn't support the ISO 8859-13 charset, which is the standard charset in the Baltic states. When a person recieves an email in that charset, every non-ASCII character in the message becomes absolutely unreadable when displayed in this webmail application.
This has been tested with this version of the product:
X-Mailer: Sun Java(tm) System Messenger Express 6.1 HotFix 0.01 (built Jun 24 2004)
Furthermore, you can test the case by yourself using this link: http://www.lietuvybe.org/testas/. You can enter your e-mail address there to get a few sample messages in Baltic and Cyrillic charsets. You will see that the Sun Java System Messaging Server passes all those tests except this particular one. So, it's a very nice product. :)
It would be very very very cool if Sun would fix this small, but very important issue.

I am feeling some bad vibes, here.Hey, sorry, I didn't want you to think it's personal. I didn't really mean to hurt you or whatever. You are trying to help and I do appreciate that. I really do.
The reason i'm a bit sad is about the policy of others:
First, i am not a provider of that webmail service i'm talking about. A big Lithuanian company is. Personally, I rarely use webmail apps at all, and even when i do, i use an app i internationalized myself. :). Meanwhile, i install Horde IMP as a webmail application for my small servers, and i'm satisfied with it.
The problem i described is literally not my problem. It's a problem of that big Lithuanian company mentioned above (and the users of its webmail system). I suppose this company does have that account already and, furthermore, they are the ones who should post to this forum or file a support request., and they are the ones who should be worried about that bug. However, reality differs. In reality, big companies in Lithuania don't care about correctness of their webmail apps too much. However, there are a few maniacs like me who do. We test their webmail apps, we contact them and describe them their problems and ask them to fix those problems. Sometimes, they do that, but in most cases we either don't get a reply at all, or we get something like "we'll take a look at it later". For example, lately, we had an issue with one of the most popular webmail providers in Lithuania skipping a MIME-version header. Fixing this issue is just a single line of code. However, we had to push them annoyingly for kinda few months until they finally fixed it.
That was the first aspect.
The second is that i don't really like to create hundreds of accounts for myself just to ocasionally report bugs like this one. If only Sun would let me to simply file a bug, and forget that, i would gladly do it. But no, i have to find a deeply hiden support page, then fill a form, create myself an account and a password, then log on, then fill some misterious support request... Do I have to do that for a company that won't even consider thanking me? I think that's too much. Furthermore, every party on the net enforces it's own username and password restrictions. That sucks too. I wish i could just log on as "rq" everywhere like this forum, using the same password i could easily remember. However, i have to use "rq", "er-ku" or "erku" or "rq@something" as my username on different platforms, and sometimes even my (long enough) password is not accepted. It's hard to track such accounts, and in most cases like this one, i don't really want to have an account at all, as i'm just passing by.
To summarize the post: I'm NOT a licenced user, and all I wanted was to file a bug, which affects licenced users and ordinary people.
How do i remove my account from this forum now? :)

WebMail (Squirrel Mail) Doesn't allow login

I am taking a step-wise approach to securing mail. I just changed IMAP and SMTP to CRAM-MD5 and POP to APOP.
After doing this, I was not able to login to WebMail any more. The user get's an invalid user name and/or password.
I am not running OD (standalone server) and I did verify that the user I was trying to log in with was configured correctly through WM via the Security button.
Any help is appreciated so that I can move on to securing mail with SSL.

Squirrelmail is an imap client. You need to tell it what authentication method to use for imap and also for smtp (if required).
issue from Terminal:
sudo /etc/squirrelmail/config/conf.pl
for IMAP auth settings, in the conf.pl menu, enter:

Server Error In '/' Application - Login failed for user xyz ...

I would be ever grateful for help on this. It's probably something simple.
I'm coding a website in C# ASP.NET (http://project.arcza.net). There is a registration page where you send your email, username all that stuff to an SQL server. The SQL server runs on my IIS server too. On Visual Studio, I can debug the website (i.e. launch
it on localhost:12345) and I get a fully working website that I can register as a user and it injects into the SQL server's table. If I query the SQL server, I see the results. So it works fine here.
The problem: if I copy the files for the website into the live IIS directory (as opposed from the Visual Studio preview environment) I get a runtime error thing, I have no idea what this means. The live IIS folder is project.arcza.net and I have disabled
security so you can see the full workings of the probem.
It says login failed for user 'pap'. Pap is a user I have added in SQL server, with username pap and password pap. The credentials are correct. I have added a 'connection string' (I have very little idea what this is) with thees credentials for an SQL server
@ localhost, in IIS manager.

I should also point out that if I edit properties of pap in SQL server's login thing where it lists the accounts, I cannot save the settings (you know the ones where you give it permissions to access, delete, etc?) I can tick them and click okay but if I
reoped properties and click on (I think off the top of my head it's called 'securities' but I may be wrong, it's 2nd from the bottom of the pane on the left) I see the tickboxes remain unticked. Could this have something to do with the "login failed for
'pap'" message I'm seeing?

Errorlog. you should get reason of login failed for user.

G5 unusable, can't login with any users

Hi, and thanks in advance for helping.
The iMac doesn't accept any user name and password at start up. I tried to change the admin password from the "Change Password" appl form Install Disk 1, and after selecting the Mac HD it says "No Users Found". Then i tried to reinstall the system, and after that same thing, it starts up but i can't loggin in any way.
Any hints? Could you help me?

Do you have an external clone? If it starts up from this, you can reinstall your system from the clone. Have you enabled
FileVault? if so, you need your master password.Did you follow these instructions for resetting your password?
Have you tried starting in single user or verbose mode?
1. Shut down the computer if it is on.
2. Press the power button to start the computer.
3. Immediately press and hold the Command (Apple) key and one of the following:
the "s" key for single-user mode.
the "v" key for verbose mode.
4. To exit single-user mode type: reboot
5. Press Return.

NetStorage doesn't allow login

In trying to log into NetStorage the login window just recycles instead
of proceeding.
This is in /var/log/apache2/error_log

This is true when logging into NSadmin also.
/var/opt/novell/tomcat5/logs/catalina.out doesn't show anything.
The server is Novell Open Enterprise Server 2.0.2 (x86_64)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86_64) SP3
I've made sure the permissions are right.
Any other ideas?

Was this server patched recently? The first set of the July patches wiped the NetStorage configuration, see TID 7006564, NetStorage not working after July-2010 patches
The bad patches where taken out of the patch channel, but if this is what cased it you'll need to restore the config.

yep. brand new computer, other aps respond well to apple ID login... except Messages and facetime. I've tried re-entering, restarting, creating new user accounts, resetting keychains, and everything else I could find in other threads... what is wrong with my software? the Apple ID works fine on other comuters with messages and facetime. What's the hold up Apple?

Any chance this is a refurb ?
If so check the Serial number is present.
Apple Menu > About this Mac.
Click twice on the line that tells you the current OS version.
It will change to the Build number then the Serial Number.
If it is missing it will need to be flashed to the board before FaceTime and Messages will work.

Server won't allow login booted from external drive

I have a client who was running Leopard Server on a Mac Mini G4 1.42Ghz. (Hey, it serves their needs fine.) They had installed it onto an external Firewire drive since this particular Mini had a bad internal drive. It's been working great for them for months - so great in fact, that they decided to upgrade to an Intel Mini.
We simply unplugged the external drive and hooked it up to the new Mini and expected that all would be well. Instead, it boots as far as the login screen and then fails any login attempts. When hooked back up to the old Mini - everything is happy.
Any suggestions?

The drive is probably formatted w Apple Partition Map.
Format a different external to GUID copy the files over and try again.

How to create an error message which doesn't allow submitting form ?

Hi,
is there a way to create an error message so that the user can't submit the form until the error is solved?
On my form I am doing some validation checks when the user hits the button to submit the form via e-mail.
So if something on the form isn't filleld out correctly the user gets an error message. But after the user has clicked ok on the error message he can still send the form.
So I am searching for a way that he can only submit the form if he has resolved the problems.
I tried with
xfa.host.messageBox("material is not valid!" , "error", 0);
but this only shows the error messagen and doesn't prevent the next step.
Can I solve this with using a different type of error message, or user different parameters at the messageBox?

SQLplus doesn't allow login after database creation login

I can login in to SQLplus right after the DB config assist completes but after I close out of SQLplus I cannot login again.
I get the error messeages:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist.

Assuming that your OS is Windows, try this --
Open Services in Control Panel
Select TNSListener
Open properties
On the 'Log On' tab, put your operating system login name and password.
Save the changes.
Do the same for Oracleservice.
Restart the services or computer

When trying to make a purchase via an online website, my computer will secure the transaction first with the "https" with a lock behind it. But, I can't check the shopping cart at that point. Are the settings in Preferences set too high? If so, how to I remedy this and not lose Privacy and Security?

Sorry, U3 versions of Firefox weren't made by Mozilla. That version is a modified version of Firefox made by a 3rd party and that 3rd party is responsible for its' support. I have never used it and can't help you with it.
Have you considered switching to Firefox Portable, which is made by the crew over at Portable Apps? <br />

Hi,
Firstly, please check if you have installed KB2506143. It seems that the functionality to add a new user account with an email address may be broken if you installed that KB.
Please uninstall KB2506143 and reboot to see if everything works. Before you uninatall that KB, please read the KB below to aviod failures:
