  • Valuation Methods - foreign currency valuation

    Hello
I am trying to understand the concept of different valuation methods. could you explain using examples please ?
Say for instance, a goods receipt is raised in USD for 100USD on 2 Jan 2009 and local currency is EUR. Exchange rate is 1EUR : 1,5USD. On 4 Jan 2009 invoice received at rate of 1EUR : 1,6USD.
What are the implications of the options lowest value principle, strict lowest value principle, always valuate and revalue for such a transaction?
    tks

Those are different ways of valuating your Foreign Currency Operations depending or the country regulations:
1- Lowest value principle means that the Valuation will be posted only if it is giving a negative result.
2- Strict lowest value principle will be post valuation only if two conditions happened:
A - The valuation is negative
B - The new valuation has a greater devaluation and/or a greater revaluation for credit entries than the previous valuation
3 - Always Valuate: No matter if it is possitive or negative, the valuation will be posted.
4 - Revalue only: The opposite of the first one, valuation is only posted when possitve.
5 -Reset Valuation Run: In this case open items are valuated at the acquisition price. This way the valuation difference is set to zero. This is useful to reset previous valuations

  • Load Balancing Methods in Planning

Ware planning on Load Balancing our two web servers for performance reasons and our consultant and IT side had two different ideas of what this would mean.
Our IT side wants to us IIS and set up a Virtual Machine/IP that sits on both web servers (which are NIC card connected) thus creating the virtual entry point that would move activity to the least busy server.
Our consultant was thinking we'd have a seperate piece of HW (like CISCO or Baracuda - F5) that would perform the load balancing on it's own and direct traffic accordingly. He was not aware of an install utilizing the first method and we're wondering if this IIS solution will work or not.
We are using TOMCAT out of the box here too.
Any help is appreciated! We're toast on getting a new piece of HW in here in time for us to complete our migration but I just want to make sure we don't waste time going down a path that isn't viable.

    Hi Paul,
The bulk of the work of a Planning server is performed by the Java App Server.
To have a highly available Planning environment you will need to look at clustering Tomcat and may need to use something like BEA Weblogic instead.
Check out the Clustering EPM Web Applications in the below PDF document.

  • DRQ: Specific Identification Method for Inventory Valuation

This is a request to incorporate the features of Specific Identification Method (or Actual Cost) of Inventory Valuation for Serial Number / Batch Number controlled items.
Found lots of threads in the Forum regarding this topic, but could not able find out any answer from SAP.
Sometimes back, myself posted the same thread, but got reply that Navision has this features please use that.
Hope SAP Team has enough knowledge about this method of valuation, that is why I am not giving any example.
If require I can provide enough example on this topic.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Peter,
This is the same requirement we need in mexico. What do you mean with "Next major releases"?

  • Reporting Multiple Currencies per Entity?  Tools or Methods? Planning

The customer wishes to be able to enter more then one local currency. So they could have USD and CAD or USD and Euros for the same Entity.
The requirement is to be able to report on totals by currency.
What is the best way to get report totals of LOCAL currencies when there can be more then one per Entity. So the cell has the currency code in Essbase.
I can get this with various steps with the excel addin or smartview but how to get it with FR or other tools?

    Hi, Alp
Thank you for you answer. I've checked your link and it's amazing that information like this was written not in admin but in user guide.
Another thing i've wondered that it depends on setting of Calculate Currencies calc script (run on save). But it's just a think men must know and do I think.
Unfortunately I can't see how does it work, although I've done this settings.
If I set local currency for one of the entity as GBP then I can enter data in GBP of course and Calculate Currencies script runs ok. I can see exact values for local (GBP) and default currency (USD) just on planning form as I set currency dim in page.
But in my case when i set local currency for this entity back to USD entered value in GBP always changed back to USD regardless of Calculate Currencies script settings. It happens during save on the form
Can I get a bit more information about some other settings to be done to make this functionality work?

  • Material valuation with respect planned price 1 in material master

    Dear All,
The costing variant PPC1 has been used for released cost estimate. In my scenario I want to create one more variant say ZPC1 where to calculate the value of the material from the planned price 1. In this case
    1.     What should be the validity date mentioned in the material master for valuation
    2.     The variant has been configured as
    a.     Costing Type – 12 Mod Std cost Est
    i.     Price Update – No Update
ii.     Save Parameter – With Start of Period
    iii.     Misc – Cost Sheet
    b.     Valuation Variant – 001 Planned Valuation
    i.     Material Valuation - Planned Price
    ii.     Standard Price
    c.     Date control
    i.     From Date : Start of Current Posting Period
ii.     To Date : End of Current Posting Period
iii.     Qty Struc Date : Current Date
iv.     Val Date : Current Date
    d.     Qty Structure Control (As PPC1)
    3.     When I run the standard cost estimate with variant ZPC1 the system calculates the standard price of the material even when the price is mentioned in the planned price1.
How the variant should be created to capture the planned price for calculation when using the variant ZPC1.
Kindly help me in this regards

  • Income recognition based on revised planned revenue

    Hi,
I am facing a critical issue on PS Results Analysis and I though you can only help me, because you  have worked extensively on CO side.
The client is using POC based Results Analysis and using ''Planned Revenue'' as basis of Income recognition in each perod. But two years after runnng Results analysis, they want to callculate Income recognition based on Revised Planned Revenue, instead of original Plan revenue.
When i changed the method Overall Plan from E to F in OKG3>Planned values screen, it is picking up the Revised Planned Revenue in KKA2 (Results Analysis screen) but the Periodic Profit is still calculated based on the Original Plan Revenue.
When we raise the issue with SAP they have advised, we need to define Line ID's for Revenue in OKG3>Expert mode>Planned values sub screen.
When the Planned Revenue is reduced the value is not postng to any GL element, where as the original Planned revenue is posted to Primary GL elements whiich i can see in RPSCO table .
Can you plesae advise on how to bring unassinged revenues (i.e.reducued revenue) in RPSCO table into Results analysis valuation, so that the reduction in Revenue wiill be consdered in Revenue recogniiton.
It would be really great if someone can advise on ths
    thanks

  • User exit in planned Orders

    Hello all.
I have been search for a user exit in planned orders that allow me to define some code in it to triger some changes. this user exit should be at time of planned order is saved.
I have already search in this forum and I found out how to find the user exits by transaction. I have tried for transaction MD12 but did not found any suitable user exit.
Does any one know any user exit that could make my life easiser
    thanks
    Manuel Antonio

You can try the following BAdIs:
You can use the Business Add-In (BAdI) MD_PLDORD_CHANGE to change, before posting, data from planned orders, which have been created, changed, or deleted as a result of planning a material or manual processing.
The Business Add-In allows you to fill and change fields from planned orders in the PLAF table. It also supports filling of customer-specific fields in the customer include CI_PLAFDB.
You can execute the Business Add-In in the planning run in the following areas:
    Material requirements planning
    Master production planning
    Long-term planning
You can also carry out the Business Add-In in all applications, which execute manual planned order changes. Examples of this kind of application are:
The dialog transactions for creating and changing planned orders (MD11, MD12, MS11, MS12)
The Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPI) for creating and changing planned orders
all applications that explicitly or implicitly create or change planned orders, for example the planning table of repetitive manufacturing, repetitive manufacturing confirmation, capacity planning, assembly order processing and so on.
    Requirements
When planning a material or manually processing a planned order, you must change individual fields in the planned order or provide entries for customer-specific enhancements of the planned order structure.
    Standard settings
The Business Add-In is not active in the standard.
The Business Add-In cannot be used multiple times.
The Business Add-In is not filter dependent.
    Activities
To activate the Business Add-In, you must create an active implementation. To do this, choose the following path in the SAP Menu: Tools -> ABAP Workbench -> Utilities -> Business Add-Ins -> Implementation
For more information about this procedure, see the SAP Library under
Basis Components -> ABAP Workbench -> Changing the SAP Standard -> Business Add-Ins -> Implementing Business Add-Ins.
    Further notes
Documentation on the BAdI method CHANGE_BEFORE_SAVE_MRP
Documentation on the BAdI method CHANGE_BEFORE_SAVE_MAN
You can also call the documentation on the BAdI method via the menu, by carrying out the following steps:
    1. Choose the tab page Interface.
    2. Double-click on the relevant method.
    3. Click on the right mouse button and choose Component documentation.
    Update Planned Orders (MD_PLDORD_POST)
    Use
    Application components:  PP-MRP, PP-MP-MPS, PP-MP-LTP, PP-REM
    Function group: M61P, M61U
You can use the Business Add-In (BAdI) MD_PLDORD_POST to further process data from planned orders, which have been created, changed or deleted through the planning of a material or as a result of manual processing.
The Business Add-In allows you to publish the created and changed data from planned orders and can be used to update customer-specific tables or to connect to information systems and workflows.
You cannot use the methods of the Business Add-In to change the planned orders themselves. The planned orders are always posted in the communicated form.
You can execute the Business Add-In in the planning run of the following areas:
    Material requirements planning (PP-MRP)
    Master production planning (PP-MP-MPS)
    Long-term planning (PP-MP-LTP)
You can also execute the Business Add-In in all applications, which carry out manual planned order changes, for example:
The dialog transactions for creating and changing planned orders (MD11, MD12, MS11, MS12)
The Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPI) for creating and changing planned orders ( PlannedOrder Create, PlannedOrder Change)
All applications that explicitly or implicitly create and change planned orders, for example the planning table of repetitive manufacturing, repetitive manufacturing confirmation, capacity planning, assembly order processing, and so on.
    Standard settings
The Business Add-In is not active in the standard.
The Business Add-In can be used multiple times.
Note that the Business Add-In can be used multiple times and therefore all active implementations are called and run through.
    Example
The following is a possible use for the methods of this Business Add-In:
When planning a material or manually processing planned orders, you want to log the changes made to the planned orders or the triggered subsequent functions.
The subsequent processing of certain planned orders or individual data from the planned orders occurs in an external planning system. In this case, you can log the corresponding changes to these planned orders in a user-defined table during planning. Using a separate report, you can select the data from the log table and process it further.
    Further notes
    Methods
Update Planned Orders: Requirements Planning - POST_AFTER_SAVE_MRP
Update Planned Orders: Manual Processing  - POST_AFTER_SAVE_MAN
You can also call the documentation on the BAdI method via the menu, by carrying out the following steps:
    1. Choose the tab page Interface.
    2. Double-click on the relevant method.
    3. Click on the right mouse button and choose Component documentation.

  • Planning function and planning sequence of Design studio new features!!

    Hi Experts
Recently I have updated my design studio to 1.3 and happy to see many new updates. Meanwhile i saw some new features add planning function and planning sequence.
As per my understanding, Using this features we can enter data at run time. My query is here
Is it like we are entering data at run time and see the changes in current data(chart series)
Ex: Add discount for product 10% and relevant data(in chart) reduced to 10%
    or
Is it like integrated planning? Once we enter data in run time and it saves in BW planning cube?
I am totally confused with this feature.. Can any one help me to get clear understanding on this please !
    Regards,
    Mathivanan M

    Hi,
maybe these two article can help you:
#1 Planning in Design Studio 1.3
#2 Planning in DS 1.3 - Using different script methods for planning
As i unterstand, it's only possible to write back in BW.

  • Group Currency in Profit Center Valuation ?

    Hello,
    We have 3 currencies configured, 1. Local Currency(10), 2.Group Currency(30) 3.Group Currency in Profit Center Valuation(32).
What do you mean by  Group Currency in Profit Center Valuation?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Srinath

In FI you can manage up to three parallel valuation methods to support transfer prices. The valuation bases are stored using the additional currency and the ledger facilities.
You can use the following valuation methods: 0 - Legal valuation, 1- Group valuation, 2- Profit center valuation.
Also you can have the following currencies: 10 - Company code currency, 30-Group currency, 40-Hard currency, 50-Index-based currency, 60-Global company currency.
The currency and the valuation method are combined in the financial accounting document to form the currency and valuation type. For example, if you want to make a group valuation in the group currency, you enter currency and valuation type 31 in the company code.
IN your case a group valuation in group currency and a profit center valuation in group currency, as well as the legal valuation in company code currency is defined.
The following settings are made in the company code:
The corporate valuation and the profit center valuation are managed in the second and third ledgers, which you have to create yourself. The valuation category used is stored in the ledger master data. You need to enter the relevant currencies in the ledger master record.
You post complete values to each ledger, not delta values. This presentation has the advantage that the parallel valuation methods can be managed in logically and physically separate ledgers. This enables a simple authorization control when accessing the datasets of the parallel valuation methods.
Different valuations can also be stored in the Special Purpose ledgers, just as in the general ledger.
In each ledger master record, you can define whether the ledger manages a legal valuation, a group valuation, or a profit center valuation.

    I am a newbie in SAP FICO, and looking for your value helps;
In 31.12.2011, my customer ran FC Valuation through FAGL_FC_VAL - Foreign Currency Valuation (New) and several postings had been made, including valuation postings for AR open items.
At that time of simulation screen, users not check details and origin of the FC postings for AR.
Now they checked these postings again and wonder where the amounts came from.
I have to run FAGL_FC_VAL with valuation key date: 31.12.2011, only "Reset valuation" ticked in "Postings" Tab and "Valuate Customer Open Items" ticked in "Open items", the postings not the same with postings that users posted earlier.
Do you know function/report that can re-display the screen at the time users run FAGL_FC_VAL?

  • Personnel Cost Planning: creating cost item for Org unit

    Hi experts,
I am trying to attach a cost item to an org unit by maintaing feature hcp02 but the somehow the cost item applies itself to both org unit and position. Could anyone please let me know the how this can be done?
    Thanks

It is extremely difficult to answer your question without knowing all the details of your scenario.
I can briefly explain the scenario I used:
    1. I have maintained IT1005 on job level to further distribute this information along the organization structure.
    2. First of all i had to run data collection on job level using method "Infotype planned compensation: 1005" and cost item that was a base for other items, e.g. basic salary. System creates records in infotype 5010 "Planning of Pers. Costs" for evaluated jobs.
    3. Then I collected cost items for positions using method "Data from related cost planning objects", calculation type A, basis that I previously set up, evaluation path O_O_S_C (I started from head org.unit) and object type source C. I did it for positions to have possibility to adjust cost items on position level using transaction PHCPDCUI - Edit Data, e.g. you can ask managers to review your defaults on position level before staring consolidation on org.unit level.
    4. Then you start data collection on org.unit level using cost items on position level. Process similar to step 3 but with different evaluation path and source object.
    5. When it's done you run cost planning (PHCPADMN - Manage) using special plan for planning based on OM data.
There are plenty of other scenarios, so can't really give you exact answer on your question, as I don't which scenario you use.

  • Estimation method of progress Analysis

    Hi,
    We are having following scenario.
We are creating the project in PS. Then creating the PM order & assigning
    the order to WBS element.
We want to use the Estimation method of progress analysis. Hence we havedefined Estimation method as default measurement method (both plan &
    actual )for following objects,
    1. WBS element
    2. Internal processed activity
    3. External processed activity
    4. General cost activity
    5. Order (Other than Network)
For WBS element & all activities we are able to manually maintain planned
POC & actual POC in CJ20n.
But for PM order we are not able to manually maintain planned POC &
    Actual POC.
Can you please let me know where we can manually maintain the planned &
    actual POC for PM Order.

I do not think it is possible for order to use estimation method..
Please go for Cost / Time / Work proportional
