Metrics in SAP Logistics

Could someone offer insight into getting metrics pertaining to IM and WM such as elapsed time from order generation to order release to pick and confirm to goods issue to the receipt etc. Any help is much appreciated.
thanks

Hello, collegues.
Thanks for attantion, I have solved this problem.
Especially I thank Amit Kumar Pandey (http://forums.sdn.sap.com/profile.jspa?userID=3801262) - He has told the problem solution and SaraGil - For active participation.
Solution - it is important to name "Object Type ID" - "IPO" for initiative and "RIH" for item. My error was in that that - I had named "Object Type ID" - "0001" for  item.

  • Metric with SAP BI

Can they be generated metric from SAP BI in BOBJ XI 3.1 Dashbord Builder?
If it is like that, since I generate the filter of dates for the indicator?
    Thanks

    Hi,
to my knowledge you can not use an OLAP universe to generate a metric. you can use the OLAP universes for specific gauges like a speedometer.
    does that help ?

  • Advantages of using BPR in an SAP project

    Hi
Could anyone tell me what are the advantages and significance of using the Business Process Respository (BPR) while starting an implementation Project (or template project). Lets say as opposed to NOT using the BPR. What are the pros and cons of the two approaches? And how reliable are these BPR contents?
    Appreciate your answers
    Drake

    Hi Drake,
BPR comes from SAP and delivered via Software Component ST-ICO. Periodically, SAP keeps upgrading this component and in my view, one of the best enablers of Solution Manager.
From a Project point of view, if you use BPR provided content, at Scenario, Process level, it inherits all 'associated' assignments, like Transaction Codes, IMG nodes relevant for a given Process Step. Also, it loads any other accelerator documents from SAP in General Documentation Tab.
These contents are helpful for Business Process Monitoring (BPM) too when you want to 'inherit' the Processes and Process Steps defined in Project into Solution. There are standard metrics that SAP provides for process steps in BPM that would be more easily compatible if a project had got the same terminology.
BPR, however, isn't as comprehensive as we may like it to be. It's rich on some areas and frugal on certain others.
In terms of 'reliability', well there is no specific aspersions that could be cast  on it
If it's rich, it's visible and useful; where it's not good enough, we can always add some content and still make some good use of it.
Another advantage of using BPR is that when a new version of BPR is downloaded and applied, using SA_PROJECT_UPGRADE transaction, the system will offer a chance to see areas which are impacted by a change and those can accepted in SOLAR01/02.
So, BPR-led content can always be kept up-to-date.
In my personal experience, I have realised that 2 consultants can easily have 4 opinions! On ever fluid concepts like Scenario, Processes etc. to attain a convergence of thoughts and minds is a difficult proposition. BPR allows for a project to close the gap and adopt SAP ways of definition and helps jump-start the project. The time saved is better used in value added areas or in rigorous testing and training !
The only firms/ projects which may want to shy from BPR could  be those:
    - who have a fairly well established vocabulory of defining their day to day processes and where retrofitting SAP definitions can be counter productive
    - who have traditionally used advanced platforms like ARIS or other tools
    - who work in industries inadequately represented by SAP

    Srini

  • N00b needs advice---community college SAP course

    Hello experts,
Iu2019m here for advice and help. I had started looking into SAP a while back but for other circumstances I had to put that to the side for a while. Now Iu2019m back more motivated then ever and ready to absorb all the information possible. As you read my post keep in mind that Iu2019m a complete beginner and have never used SAP. My field of work now has nothing to do with SAP, Iu2019m a laboratory technician and thatu2019s where my question comes in; will a class like the ones below help me land a job that with time I can make a career? Also which of this classes would you recommend that have the most opportunity for advancement and growth?
My community college offers several courses in SAP, but all the classes are geared for the professional using SAP in their own work environment, during an implementation, upgrade, or maintenance, or through consulting work. SAP version 6.0 is used in class. These classes are not part of training to pass a specific certification.u2026
    Classes offered:
    SAP End User Applications
    SAP FICO Financial Training
SAP Logistics Training with Materials Management and Production Planning
    SAP Production Planning Training
    SAP Security Training
    SAP Security Training Advance
    Each class is $1450.
Also have any of you ever become certified in a specific module of SAP without paying the big bucks for the SAP classes?
BTW, I know $1450 is a very small amount compared to what the real SAP classes go for. I just donu2019t know if itu2019s worth it for what Iu2019m receiving in exchangeu2026

Anybody? Just some advice will help. Breaking into the SAP career is difficult if you don't have the money to pay for the classes, I just want to know if there is a another way to get your foot in the door.
    Regards.

  • Mapping merge in transit Process in SAP

    Hello,
We have business requirement whic is a standard "Merge In Transit" Process.  We have different warehouses in different locations. the customer can order product from any location. when he orders products from multiple locations, we bring all of them to a consolidation point i.e., this consolidation point can be one of the warehouse or a carrier depending on whether its domestic or export.
now each warehouse is a shipping point and we have multiple deliveries from multiple shipping points. Now how do we map in the system so that all of them go to a comon consolidation point and ship from there to the customer.
Your ansers in the above regards are highy appreciated.
    Thanks
    Srini

    Hi Srini,
I understand you have different production plants and also a consolidation point (distribution center?) also defined as a plant in your SAP system.
Depending on the plant defined in the sales order (there is an exit for plant determination), the requirement will appear at a production plant or a distribution center.
If the requirement & final shipping is defined at the distribution center, I would use DRP / MRP to move products from the production plant to the distribution center.
There is a probably a better solution using the SAP APO system which is more sophisticated than SAP ERP from a Logistics point of view.

  • RFC's for SAP Performance data

I am in the process of developing a Performance Monitoring System for SAP in Java.
The requirement is to fetch the performance metrics from SAP in a Java application. I know there are some RFC's available in CCMS module. But the customer is not interested in CCMS module.
Could anyone let me know whether there are any RFC's available in SAP for extracting performance data other than CCMS?
If anyone had come across this situation, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Hi,
there are severam methods for estimating av. response time after the upgrade, for the beginning you coud try to estimate
hardware (cpu, memory, disks) just to keep those resp. times on the same level. Use the followin notes:
089305, 0113795, 0178616, 517085 .... until you get note for your target release
then you have to add all deltas, and you will know the whole delta between releases.
For the first estmation of time change you can count it by using coeffition  as deltas, example delta cpu = X
resp. time after upgrade = X * current resp. time
This formula gives you only impresion on resp.  time, not precisse measure. Better calculation is simply
by calculating current system in saps, than using delta (for cpu) You can estimate required number of saps for target release, and X=req. SAPS for target/ current SAPS (btw. take for the estimation number of SAPS for current HW  target release  only, don't use the number of SAPS for 46C!), and again:
after upgrade = X * current resp. time
Please remember, thera are much better ways to estimate res. times, but it means detailed analysis of the system load, it can't be given as gold rule
    Kind regards,
    Mirek

  • Open specific page in a PDF file?

    Hi!
I wonder it it's possible to link or set parameters so that the user ends up on the correct page in a PDF file. Lets say that I would like to link to chapter 3 in a large PDF file. Is this possible in the DMS?
I can't use TREX for indexing because that's not implemented.
    Best Regards,
    Kristoffer Pehrson

    hi,
Instandard SAP DMS, u con't link like what u explained. fro that sap made an option. U could utiliz DIR key's 'PART' u can use as many as sheets of PDF as ur DIR.
One more thing i think u misunderstanding SAP DMS, it is a tool deals Thechnical document and is used in PLM area. in integrates SAP logistics.
Ucould use SAP Archive LIkn for this purpose. or u coud split PDF before link into DMS.

  • Hide fields at sales order document.

    Dear Gurus,
My client needs a sales order by services sales, so it's not necesary some fields like "ship to party", "Req delv date", etc-
how can i  disable and hide this fields?
    thanks for your help.
    best regards

    Hi Juan,
On one hand you are right, the Ship-To-party should not matter in case of a debit note (for services).
On the other the ship-to-party can still be relevant for tax determination.
IMHO the ship-to-party in a debit note is relevant from a Reporting point of view if you want to do Sales Reporting on the Ship-to party in addition to the Sold-to party.
My recommendation: Don't mess with the standard system for aesthetic considerations.
If the Ship-To = Sold-To you will have the same data in both fields, that's fine.
If they are different, then the Ship-To party is relevant from a Sales Point of View.

  • So much performance data - which are the key ones to see if DB is tuned

There is so much metrics in SAP CCMS DB02 and DBAcockpit. WHat are some of the key metrics to look for when trying to determine if my DB is tuned properly.
Some are obvious like cache hit percentage but I wonder if some one could suggest metrics to look at and also if you could explain what they mean...
I am running Oracle 10.2.0.4 on UNIX with 16 CPUs
    Thanks
    Weyland Yutani

    Hello Weyland,
some key factors / threshold are mentioned in the "SAP/Oracle Performance Monitoring Strategies":
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/c4/3a71ef505211d189550000e829fbbd/content.htm
The explanation of the metrics is here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/c4/3a6fda505211d189550000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
    > What are some of the key metrics to look for when trying to determine if my DB is tuned properly.
That is the wrong approach .. if your end users are happy and satisfied with the performance - no need to tune anything.
I have seen several cases in which some DBAs tried to "tune" a well running database just to be "pro-active" and things getting worse.
If you see performance issues the first questions should be: "Is this a general performance issue or just for a specific transaction" ..

  • Plant and company code assignment in Ecc 6.0

    Hi,
In 4.7 and ecc5.0 version we can assign only one company code for one plant but we can assign multiple plants to one company code. but in ecc 6.0 we can assign  multiple  company codes to one plant.  what is the main use to maintiang multiple  comapny codes for one plant. in which senario this function will work.

    Hi Meher,
Let's not take the sentence "plants can be assigned to different company codes" out of its context.

    Golden rules in SAP Logistics:
A single plant is always assigned to one company code.
Several plants can be assigned to the same company code.
A single sales organization is always assigned to one company code.
Several sales organizations can be assigned to the same company code.
In sales, IF the company code of the sales organization is different from the company code of the delivering plant, then SAP will automatically recognize an intercompany sales process.
If the sales organization and plant are assigned to different company codes, an internal billing document is sent between the company codes before the sales transactions are entered for accounting purposes.
These "golden rules" did not change in ECC 6.0.!!!
    Best Regards,
    Franck
