  • Lumia 920 micro usb -- vga ?

    Hi,
I wonder if it is possible to use a Lumia 920 and a projector with a "micro usb to vga" cable?
    Thanks in advance!

Have a few coming up so need to make a decision on what I want soon. Not much to choose from at the moment. Don't know about the free bit. They will be on contract which is effectively paying on instalments. So might as well get a selection of phones I want to try.

  • Apple Micro-DVI to VGA Adapter for a White Macbook

When I read about the Apple Micro-DVI to VGA Adapter it talks about how it's designed for the MacBook Air and works with MacBook Pro, but will it work with a regular MacBook? My MacBook seems to have the same port necessary...

You're sure that that port does not look like that:

In this case it's a Mini DVI port

Precisely why it's not an iPad, and why it doesn't cost very much.  An Apple rep would tell you how to connect an iPad to every computer.

  • 2 External Monitors - USB to VGA

    Hi all,
So i've just bought the new 21" iMac and I'm trying to connect up my 2x external dell monitors. The 2 monitors only support VGA.
Where this specific iMac only has 1x thunderbolt port, I can only make use of 1 mini-dvi to vga connector. I need to connect up the second monitor presumably by using a USB to VGA adapter. The USB to VGA adapter I just purchased isn't compatible with mac!
Could anyone please recommend a USB to VGA adapter that's compatible with Mac please??
    Much appreciated,
    Jamie.

Matrox makes some 2 and 3 screen adapters:

Mind you depending on your GPU, you may get significant slow down in rendering.  But at least you can setup your system with whatever layout you desire.  Make sure the adapter you get is Thunderbolt compatible.

  • How efficient is it to hook up a monitor to my macbook pro with a usb to vga adapter

I want to hook up a secondary monitor to my comouter by using a usb to vga adapter. However I have read that it may be really slow. Is this true? I already have a monitor connected via my thunderbolt port to hdmi.

Have you looked into Daisy Chaining?

  • ATV2 Not showing in iTunes, and bricked, showing micro usb and iTunes logos

    Hey all,
I was given an ATV2 for christmas a few weeks early, purchased new from Big W (Australia). I happily plugged it in on the 14th or 15th December (I can't quite remember, but I did find out later itunes match went live to a bunch of countries that day, which is why my itunes account crashed). I plugged it in, with the HDMI cable I purchased from australian apple store online, and the power cable. I connected happily to my home network, and started scrolling through the features. I came to a point in setup where it asked for my itunes ID and password. I entered these and it told me it couldn't recognise the apple ID or password.
I tried again, same. I checked my mac to see if it was iTunes or the ATV2 that had a problem... tried to log in, and it said the same error msg. Same on my iPhone and iPad. So I knew itunes was down, and later found out it crashed internationally for some people as itunes match went live.
Unfortunately for me, as I got that first error msg, I aborted trying to set up. I then had a pop up on the ATV2 asking me to update the software (I run the latest software on my mac, ipod, ipad, and have latest itunes by the way), I can't remember which version it had, but it asked me to update, and not knowing the login issue was accross platforms, I tried to log in again and update, hoping it was more a software issue. It seemed to begin updating then pop up with the same itunes error that it couldn't recognise the apple ID or password. At this point the device suddenly showed the micro USB to itunes logo and it became apparent it wanted me to plug into itunes for some R&R. Of course I didn't have a micro usb cable, and had to wait a week or so to get one since I live in the country with no tech shops around. It arrived and I tested it on my itrip as a charging cable. It charges my iphone nicely while plugged into the griffin itrip. So the cable works. I plugged the ATV2 into my imac (latest OSX 10.7.2 and latest itunes 10.5.2) and it doesn't come up in itunes at all. I tried a different USB port in the back of the computer as opposed to the keyboard. No luck. I tried plugging in the power cord as well, no luck. I tried a reset via ATV2 remote holiding the menu and down buttons until the LED light flashes super super fast (as opposed to its current fast flashing). No luck.
How do I get this thing to show up in itunes? Or how can I manually reboot it if it won't show? I live nowhere near a genius bar or even the shop where my family member purchased it, and they probably lost the reciept by now anyway so I doubt I could exchange.
Very dissapointed in Apple for not including HDMI cord or micro usb with the product, not to mention it was Apple's fault itunes crashed right as I was setting up. I'm a huge Apple fan but this is so annoying.
I have read something about router permissions and so on being a possible cause, is this likely? My ipad, iphone and mac never took issue with our wireless network or router previously, but it was setup a year ago and I have no idea what the settings are exactly. We also have two other imac's and a ibook connecting occasionally at home (big family) and no issues there.
I have home sharing on, I did everything the manual said. HELP!

    Thanks everyone.
Alley_Cat I tried a new micro usb, as a last ditch effort before giving up entirely... SUCCESS! How strange the other micro usb charges my iphone via griffin iTrip perfectly, but wouldn't work with apple TV. Perhaps there are different kinds? Even more bizarre than Apple not including it in the box, is that they don't even SELL micro USB's on the Apple australian online store (or at least they didn't when I checked a week ago). Now that is stupid.
Anyway i'm mid-restore and software update now, fingers crossed!
Also on the HDMI cable inclusion/not inclusion debate... is it actually possible to use the Apple TV for any reason without one? Because my point is more that there is no way to do anything with the thing, without the cable. Printers that don't include usb connections usually are able to connect to your computer and network wirelessly, therefore perform their intended function without the cable. My point is simply if a device is meant to do something, you buy it expecting to do that thing. I'm lucky I had googled it and knew about the HDMI not being included, but even I missed the micro USB inclusion. At the very least this should be clearly marked on the exterior packaging so you know in store, you have to buy the device + HDMI + micro USB. Isn't Apple all about making 'things just work'?

    Hi,

  • Searching for USB to VGA or DVI adapter compatible with linux

    Hello everyone,
Since my HP mini is lacking a VGA connector (in fact, there's a proprietary one, but the cable for that is rare and expensive), I'm thinking of buying an USB adapter to plug a monitor.  I don't care if the connector is VGA or DVi.
There're a lot of these adapters, but I'm not sure if any is compatible with Linux.
After a lot of searches, I still didn't find something  useful.
Is there anyone who had experience with this kind of adapter or can point me some documentation about that ?

Just so I understand correctly... these USB to VGA/DVI adapters are video cards in their own right, yes? Something that I know works with Linux it the Villagetronic VTBook http://www.villagetronic.com/vtbook/index.html. It's a PCMCIA card (which is faster than usb 2) but you can get USB to PCMCIA adapters.

  • Configuring three monitors with USB to VGA

Basically I am having a weird issue that I believe is Leopard causing it. I have two monitors connected by DVI and my third one will be connected by those USB to VGA unit. In my Mac Pro mac os x the unit will not display anything on the screen (used stable and beta drivers) so I tested it in bootcamp windows xp. The unit worked fine once I installed the drivers. Then I tested the USB to VGA unit on my mac book to the monitor in Leopard and the unit worked fine. So basically there is something in my Mac pro OS X Leopard that will not let the third monitor display.
Is there any advice how to solve this issue?

Your Mac came with a DVI to VGA adapter. Why do you need a USB one, when the DVI one is faster and more reliable?

If yours was missing the adapter which is shown "In the box", call AppleCare to ask a replacement be sent.

  • USB to VGA? or how view web sites greater than 800x600?

My young children have a couple of hand-me-down iBook G3 clamshells. They're loaded with the newest version of OS X that they can handle (can't remember what that is off the top of my head - 10.3?) They're working great for how they're needed with one exception. Some modern web sites are configured to display a page that is larger than 800x600 AND are configured to disable the browser's scroll bars, so it's impossible to navigate to the parts of the web page that are not visible within the 800x600 resolution native to these laptops.
My first thought was to override the web site and show the scroll bars, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. That may be the best way to approach my problem if anyone can tell me how to do that.
My second approach was to look at USB-to-VGA adapters and attach an external monitor (I have an unused one collecting dust). But every such adapter I've looked at lists various versions of the Windows OS as a requirement. Are there any USB-to-VGA adapters out there that have been tested and proven to be compatible with Macs?

You can try Opera Webbrowser (Minimum OSX 10.3)
    http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?platform=mac
Opera allows to set the global Zoom to 80% which looks like 1024x768
Just an idea for VGA output: You will need a firewire Clamshell which allows you to hook the iBook to a TV with a special cable
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27234?viewlocale=en_US
Buy a composite-to-vga converter. But i don't know if it will work and the result will be worth the money.

  • USB-to-VGA adapter compatible with Mac?

    Hi,
I'm trying to hook up an additional external monitor to my MacBook Pro using a USB-to-VGA adapter. I don't need any kind of graphics acceleration.
Here is the type of adapter I'm looking at:

Apparently some have gotten the 2nd one to work on Linux with the sisusb driver. Does anybody know if this is compatible with Mac OS X?
    Thank you!
