Microsoft Access report to pdf-hyperlinks don't work

Hi,
Does anyone have a solution to hyperlinks not working when a Microsoft Access report is converted to a pdf?  The hyperlinks work when I am in the Access report, but once I convert to a pdf (Acrobat 9), the links don' t work.
Thanks,
Jamie

How did you convert? In looking at the PDF Maker options for AA8 in ACCESS 2007, there does not seem to be a link button in the preferences. That may the issue and I do not have a solution for that.

  • Microsoft Access Reports to PDF - preserving hyperlinks

Can someone help me figure out how to preserve hyperlinks from an Access report? I've built an application that stores project information along with embedded hyperlinks to source files on our shared server. Although I've been successful with preserving links in Word documents when converting to PDF, when I try to print or convert from the Access report, the links are no longer active in the PDF (although they show up as the familiar blue hyperlink text.)
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Generally you would use the create PDF icon (what is called PDF Maker) on the toolbar. You can set the properties in the Acrobat (or Adobe PDF, depending on versions) menu on the Access menu bar. PDF Maker allows for adding links and such to the PDF. If you print to the Adobe PDF printer, you will simply get something that looks identical, but will have no bookmarks, links, or related items. Basically PDF Maker is a preprocessor for the printer that adds PDF Marks that are required for creating the links from ACCESS. Otherwise, the links that you see in the PDF are the best guess of Acrobat or Reader when it sees what appears to be a URL.

  • Saving Word-11 docs as PDFs, Hyperlinks don't work

I have a MAC Book Pro running OSX 10.7.3.  I am running Microsoft Word (for compatibility reasons for clients) and need to save documents as PDFs so I can place them on a web site with the hyperlinks active.  When I save as PDF all of the hyperlinks appear blue with the line underneath them but the links do not work.
Does anyone know why this does not work on the MAC.  The same process works fine on a PC with the Windows version of Word.
    Thank you,
    Dave

It has to be a setting in Word. Not sure which one.
But then Office for PC and Office for Mac are slightly different. MS may not include this feature in the Mac version.
You could always get Adobe Acrobat and then you would have the real PDF creator.

  • Some PDF Links don't work

    Structured Frame 7.2, Acrobat 8.1.2
Some of my Frame xrefs work as links in PDF, some don't. All xref formats use elem rather than para, the jumps work in FrameMaker. These are the first PDFs we've created after moving to structured Frame. Any suggestions? Help please!

    Teresa,
This sounds like a long-time known bug in structured Frame which I think may carry over into unstructured Frame, I'm not sure. The bug is that some PDF hyperlinks don't work if you don't include the target in the PDF bookmarks. For example, if your xrefs target a Heading3 element, but you don't include Heading3 elements in your bookmarks, Frame may fail to create named destinations for those elements and your links won't work.
There is a workaround to this bug in my shareware XRef Wizard plugin, available at www.weststreetconsulting.com. It might be able to help... look in the documentation for "named destinations."

  • Hyperlinks don't work in fillable pdf forms

I have a question for you folks and am hoping you can help me.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Professional.  I want to create "fillable" pdf forms which include hyperlinks.  When I create a pdf form and "Save as" a "Reader extended PDF" and "Enable additional features" the hyperlinks don't work.  I save the document this way in order to produce a fill-in pdf document.  However, if I save the document as a regular pdf (i.e., not reader extended/non-fillable pdf form) then the hyperlinks work.  Any ideas how I can get the hyperlinks to work in a fillable pdf form?  Thanks!
    Chris Quarto

    Hi Michael:
I'm sorry...I wish I knew what "autorecognized links" were.  :  (  As I mentioned in my reply to David, I created the hyperlinks in Microsoft Word before I converted the Word document to a pdf.
I have resolved the problem and posted my step-by-step solution a few days ago, but for some reason I don't see it in this forum.  It kind of goes like this...to get hyperlinks to work with fillable pdf's:
    1. Create Microsoft Word document and save when done.
    2. While in Word, click on "Acrobat" on menu bar (assuming you have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro on your computer) and "Create pdf;" confirm that hyperlinks work and close document.
    3. Open pdf document with Acrobat Pro and selected "Create pdf form."
    4. Edit the "fillable" parts of the document (e.g., make all fields/text boxes 10 pt. font size...I wish there was a way of setting the default so you wouldn't have to manually do this for each field/box, but haven't figured out how to do that one yet).
    5. Close form editing.
    6. Select File --> Save as --> Reader extended pdf --> Enable additional features.
    7. Save file
    8. Close file and re-open to verify that hyperlinks and fields work/are fillable.
That's my solution.  There's probably an easier way to do this, but it works.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Print MS Access report to PDF with digital signatures.

I know it is possible to print a Microsoft Access report to a PDF file.  However, we need to be able to add digital signatures to the resulting PDF.  Is it possible to predefine the PDF signature fields in the Access database so that when the report is printed to PDF it is ready from employees to sign off on the PDF?

This is doable with the ability to do a security.importfromfile which provides the ability to import a certificate.
    This is critical.
Just create the PDF and then open it up in Access. Be sure to have a reference to the Acrobat Type library.

  • Saved Pages document as PDF. Now hyperlinks don't work

After saving my newsletter in Pages 09 as a PDF (Print>Compress as PDF) some embedded hyperlinks don't work. Strangely enough, the links to an e-mail DO work, but links to a URL DO NOT. Why is this and what do I do to overcome this problem?

That's a fairly long thread I linked to. Did you get all the way down to this post with a screenshot? I see that others had the same problem you do & it took them a couple of tries to get it working. I would be nice to be able to see what you're doing (or not doing), but we have to make do with words & screenshots.

  • Hyperlinks don't work in Preview

I created a PDF file from a PowerPoint presentation using Mac OS X. My PDF file has hyperlinks in it that work fine when viewed in Acrobat Reader. But I'm unable to get any of the hyperlinks to work when viewing the file with the built in program "Preview" that is part of the Mac OS X operating system.
There are plenty of PDF files on the Internet with hyperlinks that work in both Apple Preview and Acrobat Reader. But the PDF files I create using Mac OS X, don't seem to function properly in Preview.
    Any suggestions?

I found this bit of information here ( http://www.cs.wright.edu/~jslater/mac-tex/mac-tex-intro/mactexintro.html):
    Adobe Reader (I wouldn’t)
    Adobe Acrobat (Not this either)
    Preview (Maybe better)
    Skim (Awesome, my pick)
TEXShop - Works well as a viewer-only with extra tools
iTEXMac - Also works well as a viewer-only with extra tools
    OzTEX (if not using PDFLaTEX)
    CMacTEX(if not using PDFLaTEX)
    MacDVIX (if not using PDFLaTEX)
If PDFTEX is used, any PDF(R) viewer can be used, but hyperlinks don’t work in viewers using Apple’s(R) PDF code (e.g. Preview, iTEXMac, TEXShop, Skim...), so you may want to have Adobe Reader(R) or Acrobat installed to test your hyperlinks.

  • Hyperlinks Don't Work in Preview/Publish Mode - Correct in Design View

I am having trouble with hyperlinks. I've deleted existing hyperlinks, then copied and pasted addresses back in but it is still not working. Any idea why this is happening.
    www.ronbrendle.com/reviews.html
To the right of each album the links for amazon, itunes and cdbaby do not work. They DO work for the Bunky Moon album but I cannot discern any difference.  In Muse design view, the hyperlink addresses are correct when I select the amazon, itunes or cdbaby element.
Also - when I copy a page URL from this site - it pastes the title tag. For example:
www.ronbrendle.com/reviews.html becomes "Brendle is a monster bassist." JazzTimes
    Please help if you can.
    Thank you,
    Deanna

Do you have any answer or any other experiences concerning this problem?
    Thank

    Hi,
You can put the file which you want people to be able to download in a zip. Then put a link on your website to that zip file (normal link) and as soon as you click on the link the zip will download.
In your case that would be xoomer.alice.it/xicro/F537BB88-A61B-11DB-9BB2-000393D45032/xxxxxxxxx.zip
Tanti saluti, benvenuto nel forum di 'Apple support' e spero che funzioni,

  • Hyperlinks don't work, please help!! :(

    Hi all,
I've created a new website and I would just like to know why my hyperlinks don't work? The facebook link used to, but ever since I posted the text under the menu icons in the middle of the site and then publish it won't activate any of them! This is really frustrating so I'm really hoping someone has an easy solution to this...
    My URL is www.nurburgringnow.co.uk
    Thanks,
    Will

It looks to me as though you have made your navigation menu using images places without a shape?
If so, what he is saying is that this shape has got into your footer and is covering everything else and the whole page, which is why your links will not work. If your links are covered by anything, then they won't work.
In iWeb select show all so you can see where things are on your site. Shorten your footer area and I would suggest that you remove the shape and then place it in the body of your site. To get your links to work you need to ensure that you send the shape to the back.

  • Microsoft Access forms to pdf with hyperlinks?

    Help needed.
I can convert Microsoft Word files to PDF and preserve hyperlinks.
I wrote a new application for our parts department using Microsoft Access.
When I PDF a form with a particular part displayed, it does not preserve the hyperlinks.
Now I am in trouble because we need this feature for the engineers to be able to access supporting information about each part (data sheets etc.)
Since the engineers are used to the "Microsoft Word" earlier version they are not amenable in going "backwards" with the "new" system and not having active hyperlinks to the support documents.
I have searched everywhere for a solution and so far found nothing that works.
I am using Acrobat PRO X and Microsoft Access PRO 2010
please help as my "neck" is on the line...
    thanks
    Richard

In Access try File->Save as PDF.
If it's anything like in Word, the Save as PDF function does it a different way (ie. not via Postscript) compared to Acrobat. So you might get a result that way.

  • Hyperlinks don't work in PDF Form

We use Acrobat Pro 10 / LiveCycle Desginer to create our fill-able forms to then publish on our website.  Our users can click the form on our webpage, the PDF opens in Chrome just fine and they can fill in the fields.  But when a user trys to click on the Hyperlinks, the Hand doesn't turn into the Finger allowing you to click the link and go to the webpage.  When looking at the properties of this PDF, I can see there are restrictions.  I only want to allow my customers to click on the Hyperlinks.  Keep in mind, they are using Chrome with default Chrome PDF Viewer.  Also, many of our internal users do not use Adobe to view/edit PDFs.  Their default PDF viewer if eCopy or PowerPDF, so when they open this form in those applications, the Hyperlinks do not work either.  The hyperlinks only work if I open with Adobe.
Also, I saw a security restriction in the document properties where is says can only be opened with Acrobat.
Is there way to modify this?

We tell all of our customers that official Adobe products are required to view and use the forms correctly. We cannot guarantee that the forms will work as expected otherwise. We have had a LOT of issues with customers opening (or trying to open) the forms outside of Adobe, and they never work quite right. Mind you, we use dynamic forms almost exclusively.
