Microsoft COM integration

The Weblogic whitepapers advertise the fact that Weblogic integrates
with Microsoft COM. We have a client that uses COM we need to integrate
with. We need to call out to a COM server environment as well as have
the COM server call into us.
Any clues on the best approach to accomplish this?

You are probably referring to whitepapers for WSL51. I believe COM
integration through MS JVM was dropped in WLS60.
For COM->EJB integration you may want to take a look at Sun's CAS COM
Bridge.
For the second part, EJB->COM ... we are currently using another appserver
to provide this and some other services. Hopefully, there is an easier
solution that you can use.

I have faced a problem when i try to implement N51 : Microsoft OutLook Integration in Best practices for Portal.
I am bit confused about the following points given in the document. can i know how to follow these steps:
1.Switch to Windows Explorer of the SAP NetWeaver Portal system.
2.Locate a server that is on the same trusted domain as the Microsoft Exchange Server with Internet Information Server (IIS) installed.

2.Set the permissions to execute.
3.Select the directory you just created as the home directory, for example, c:\SAPExchangeTransport
4.Open the properties dialog box for the new Web site, and choose the Directory security tab.
5.Deselect all Authentication modes.
6.Select Basic Authentication.
7.Confirm with OK.
With Single Sign-On

Problem converting .doc with "display_urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" properties

PDF Generator cannot convert a simple .doc document when there are properties with a name like "display_urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office#Editor". I think this is a property that some versions of MS Word add automatically.
If you try to convert the attached document, the result is the following:
Error Code:19060
Error Message:
Error message from the primary converter:
ALC-PDG-019-060-Encountered error while importing the XMP file.
Could this be a bug of PDFG?
Is there a workaround to convert this kind of file?

Hi,
Yes, this could be a bug in LC. I verified that conversion was ok after removing the two properties. Conversion works fine with Acrobat as well. I have still not come across any other word document with these kind of properties embedded, so I am not sure where they come from.
I'd report this to Technical Support and have them investigate this.

"microsoft enteprise integration bus" - My understanding about this term is Microsoft' solution to implement enteprise integration bus. Is this done using BizTalk Server (Microsoft Message broker) or WCF or combination of both (BizTalk + WCF).

With BizTalk Server (since you have posted this question in BizTalk forum) using adapters you can integrate for which I have detailed in my earlier reply. With WCF, when its hosted, using HTTP protocol you can by knowing its ABC (Address,Binding,
Contract) you can integrate with its endpoint.

Java word HTML microsoft com question

Hi:
I am very new to Java and I don't need to you write any code for me, so please don't flame me :D
I am in the process of planning a utility that will convert/assemble Microsoft Word Docs into HTMLs and then build search/sort/etc functionalities on the HTMLs.
My question: I guess this can be done in Java via COM bridge in Windows. Is it the same on Macintosh/Apple platform? Do Apple even have a COM interface as well that a Java program can utilize? If not and I am limited to the Windows platform, I might not even need use Java at all.
Any other suggestions toward this idea is greatly appreciated. I got it to work with Perl and some freeware utlity that convets Word->Txt, and I then generate HTML from Txt with my links and stuff. I just want to make it more user friendly by providing some kind of interface/configurations.

I have not used it, but you might look into POI to parse the word docs, then you can output whatever you want - you might look into ECS to generate the HTML.

Hi,
for connecting Windows to SAP KM you can use WebDAV and the Portal Drive. With the Portal Drive, the KM access is transparent for the user, it will be as if he is acessing a network share.
If you're looking for some SharePoint like features inside Office like: Online Useres, Check-In/Out, Create Tasks, etc. this isn't possible. The SharePoint protocol was until recently closed to Microsoft alone. For a more closly tight integration of SAP and Microsoft you can take a look into Duet. But this is for more than just publishing Office documents.

Ccm microsoft Ad integration, IP phone asking username password

Hi,
We've CCM 3.5 recently integrated with Microsoft AD. When any change is made in AD, it is reflected on CCM as well. I believe integration is fine.
Now, whenever any IP phone user presses Directory / Services button, it is asking for username password. I am not sure what to punch in to get access. This is started after integration only.
Anyone has any clue what and where to look at?

Have you ever modified any of the web pages on the CallManager server?
[inner_silence] No. All URL's are pointing to CCM IP.
What are the URL's defined for Services and Directory buttons in your Enterprise Parameters...? Have these been changed from the defaults?

When CallManager was using the inbuilt DC Directory.. what was the UserID field? Now that it is integrated to AD, what is it? Is it the same?
[inner_silence] AD server user name/password is in use now. Previously CCM Admin username password was in use.
If it is different, then your phone services for everybody will be out of sync, i.e. you would have to change the UserID in all of these.
Finally, you didnt upgrade CallManager at the same time? :)

Additional info: IP Phone asks for username/password and not username/PIN. Tried combinations of username/password/PIN but no success.

following procedure has worked for me.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in
the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
Right-click Control, point to New, and then click DWORD.
In the New Value box, type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press Enter.
Right-click ServicesPipeTimeout, and then click Modify.
Click Decimal, type the number of milliseconds that you want to wait until the service times out, and then click OK.
For example, to wait 60 seconds before the service times out, type 60000.
On the File menu, click Exit, and then restart the computer.

Sun JDK 1.3.1 calling a Microsoft COM object???

My question, which inevitably in my eyes has been deemed impossible to answer, is as follows: How can one incorporate MS VM to connect to an MS COM object using Sun�s JDK 1.3.1?
I�ve tried the following: I ran the simple example of a COM object with a client interfacing with that COM object that came with MS SDK for Java 4.0. I built the *java files using the given makefile (jvc). I registered the Hub with javareg and created a hub.tlb with jactivex.
Using JBuilder 4.0, I built a small non-swing object that created in instance of the Client class from above:

Therefore, has anyone had any luck creating/connecting/instantiating a MS COM object while trying to run it under Sun�s VM? Note: I have to do it this way since the application I�m trying to connect to is built as a COM server and I�m using Java as my application language.

In other words COM objects are not limited to GUI objects. From your question it looks like you have a COM object which is a gui component. And you want to use it in swing. If it is just a fancy drop down box then I would say the complexity isn't worth it. If it does more, then I believe that people have put 'windows' into swing frames. You can search this forum or perhaps the "Advanced Programming" (or even all forums) for more discussion on that.

Microsoft Office Integration

We are trying to open word, excel, power point on the desktop by linking to the executable. I know that we can leverage v2 WebDAV support to browse, open, edit and resave documents to portal without having to download the document, edit the document and upload it back into portal. I need some instruction on how to do this. Thanks for your help!

In the online help, take a look at the topic "Accessing Oracle9iAS Portal from WebDAV clients". This introduces the concept of being able to use WebDAV to manage the content in your page groups.
First you need to set up a Web Folder to display the contents of your page groups in Windows Explorer. Then in your Microsoft Office products you can open files directly from that Web Folder.
We are in the process of creating a more detailed technical note about Oracle9iAS Portal and Web Folders, so keep checking the Portal Center for this.

Does Microsoft Outlook Integration Standalone work on 8.8?

While installing outlook integration standalone, it does not seem to work through the license server. Will it work with 8.8?

when i startup outlook the addon does not appear
on the remote desktop of the terminal server everything works fine with the full outlook integration
(sbo client is installed 8.81 pl07)
i have removed the trend micro addin in outlook
i am using windows ultimate 7 and outlook 10 on the customers pc
the sbo client is not installed on that pc
the sql 2008 r2 client is installed
uac is off
if you start outlook the sbo addin does not appear
it is not listed int the commaddins via outlook options addins
can somebody help

GW COM integration

Hello,
Our program integrates with Groupwise and uses COM calls to send e-mails. It works ok and e-mail are sent, but if we send an e-mail to a person who is outside of a domain, this person receives an empty email. Is there any option in Groupwise which causes this? If not what might cause this?
