Microsoft Office 2013 student vs Microsoft Office 365

I have a question
I'm a high school student and will go to college next year. I wanna buy a laptop and Microsoft Office for it. Which one do you prefer for me as a student to buy? Microsoft Office 365 with 1 year subscription or Microsoft Office 2013 student? Thank you

Im interested on buying Toshiba C55-A5308 Laptop, Internet Security Software, Sleeve, Mouse & Flash Drive, Microsoft office 2013 package. I have some questions1. I added the product into the shopping chart yesterday on saturday night. But it was gone when I checked my account this morning. Is that still available? If not, I'm planning on buying Toshiba C55-A5308 Laptop, Internet Security Software, Sleeve, Mouse & Flash Drive Package and Microsoft Office separately. Is that still available and until when it will be still available?2. How is the warranty system for the product? Is that available in other countries outside the United States? I'll be here for 7 months until june next year as an exchange student and them will go home to my country Indonesia3. I wanna purchase the package with my parent's credit card in my country and the adress is also in my country, is that possible that I use the credit card to pay the package and the package will be shipped to the place where I stay during my exchange program in United States now?.Thank you

  • Microsoft Office 2013: License 01A - Microsoft license ledger for Microsoft License Statements

I have a client who uses these reports for their license counts etc. Recently they have deployed Office 2013 (Not through SCCM) and the reports do not reflect any Office 2013 installations although running a query for Add/Remove or looking at software
installed on a specific computer via other reports clearly shows Office 2013. Was there a specific rollup or hotfix for this? Thank you in advance for your time.

Thanks. I reviewed that in the past and did not see anything specific regarding Office 2013 nor in the R3 release notes.
@roblizz, sorry, I just noticed you commented on the TN wiki article for CM07 patches (which I help to curate).
It seems related to this question you asked, and the same sort of timeframe.
Did you get this sorted out ?
If not, this other HF for AI might be worth considering (assuming you haven't previously applied it).
Otherwise, it looks like we all missed the boat on getting a HF for this, since CM07 is now out of mainstream support.

  • Office 2013 (local) vs. Office 365 (cloud)

For the moment we are primarily interested in using the main Office 2103 apps from the user Desktops. (We do not want users to even store documents on the cloud)
    1. Is there a URL indicating the feature differences between local and cloud Office 2013?
    2. If we install the suite locally and Microsoft updates the cloud based version, I presume our local verisons will
not be updated automatically. Is that correct?
    TIA,
    edm2

FWIW, Office 365 desktop applications are Office 2013  and are installed locally, on your desktop, just like every other previous version. Storing documents in the cloud is optional with all versions of office, either subscription or the perpetual license
    version.
    1. Which office suite are you looking at? The subscription is office pro plus. See http://products.office.com/en-us/buy/compare-microsoft-office-products for the non-subscription offers.   Also, the perpetual license doesn't get a license for ipad/android
    tablets.
    2. You'll be able to install updates as you do now using windows updates, but the updates may not be available for days or weeks after the click to run versions. (So far this isn't happening, but it could in the future.)

  • Will macros in excel work properly if I switch Office 2013 32 bit to Office 2013 64 bit?

    hi,
Will macros in excel created with Office 2013 32 bit work properly if i switch to Office Execl 2013 64 bit?
    Thanks

    Hi,
As far as I know, most of the macros might work well between 32bit and 64bit Excel. But there are some limitations for Excel 64bit:
Solutions using ActiveX controls library, ComCtl controls won’t work.
    Third-party ActiveX controls and add-ins won’t work.
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) that contain Declare statements won’t work in the 64-bit version of Office without being updated.
Compiled Access databases, like .MDE and .ACCDE files, won’t work unless they’re specifically written for the 64-bit version of Office.

  • Installing 32 bit Office 2013 when 64 bit Office 2003 is already on my computer

I need to install Office Home and Business 2013 in 32 bit, and I already have Office 2003 64 bit on my computer. It sounds like it will automatically install 64 bit if that is what is what already on there. What is the best way to get Outlook,
Excel and Word to update in 32 bit?  Is it possible to keep the programs from Office 2003 that aren't duplicated on Office Home and Business 2013 and still install Outlook, Excel and Word from Office 2013 in 32 bit?

    Hi,
It seems that you have misunderstood it. Microsoft Office 2010 marks the first time Office will be shipping in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, not Office 2003.
What is the version of your Office 2003? If you want to use Outlook 2013, Excel 2013 and Word 2013, and retain the other the Office 2003 suits at the same pc. If it is, we can install both Office 2013 and Office2003, then remove individual components in
    Office 2003.
Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon in the Windows Control Panel. Click Microsoft Office 2003 in the Currently installed programs box, and then click the Change button.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 Loses Activation after Office Updates

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 has been installed and activated on a laptop in my office.  The product clearly states Product Activated under the 'Account' section of MS Office.  Whenever an update related to MS Office is applied in Windows
Update, the user reports that features in MS Office become disabled and the program ceases to function.  The error message shown was "Trial Period Expired".  I have called MS Support, the Product Key has been validated, the product ID has
been validated, the MS Fixit "http:\\support.microsoft.com\kb\2739501\en" has been applied and I still have this error.
    Please help.

    Hi eGovJa,
Have you ever installed the trial version of Office? If yes, please remove it from your PC completely.
Since this error appeared after installing some updates, you may uninstall this update to check if it’s helpful.
Please post the detail error message here, I’ll analyze this issue in detail as soon as getting it.

  • All of Office 2010 Student and Home Edition Programs open as Microsoft Single Image instances since Installing Outlook 2013

Office 2010 Student and Home Edition has been running without problems on my PC since 2012. Recently installed Microsoft Outlook 2013 (The version of Office 2010 did not include Outlook), since then, every time I open any of the original Office 2010 Programs
eg XCEL, WORD, POWER POINT, ONE NOTE, the program opens in 'Microsoft Office 2010 Single Image' which appears to have to be installed every time any of the programs are opened. The Installation process takes anything up to a few minutes to complete and sometimes
when filing or printing a document, the install restarts, on occasions, in an endless loop which requires random, imaginative keystroke action to terminate. The program shortcut icons all point to the 'Microsoft Office 2010 Single Image' application, I have
not succeeded in finding where the original programs are located as a quick way of trying to fix the problem.
The new installation of Outlook 2013 opens normally.
Evidently, the Outlook 2013 installation has disturbed the 2010 licensing or something ellse, can this unintended change be reversed?
Short of a complete Un-install + Re-Install, I have tried every straightforward  repair/ change (run All on my computer)/ enter product code etc option, all to no avail.
I have read of variations on the same problem relating to mixing Office 2003/ 2007, cases of Outlook 2013 starting up in a similar way, but no examples of the specific problem outlined above. The next step
is a complete Un-install + re-install of Office 2010, is this the answer or do I need to go further? Indeed, is there a quick fix?

    Hi,
The Microsoft Office Single Image 2010 is a set of tools, documentation, and product files that licensed original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can use to preload Office on new computers for distribution to end users.
I would suggest you to try the methods listed in this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2528748/en-us Just run the Fix-It tool mentioned in the page, or follow the steps to fix it by yourself.

  • Microsoft Office 2013

I would be interested to see if anyone has upgraded to Office 2013.
Having purchased Office 2010 Home and Business in December, I had eligibility to upgrade to Office 2013.
The process went smoothly, even with a 10 minute interruption of the Broadband connection in the area.
There are few problems in the upgrade, or none are evident as yet. If you don't want the Cloud features, you have to wade through several pages to tell it that you don't want them.
The main difference is that you cannot install the 64 bit version, but I did not use this in Office 2010. 64 bit may improve the speed of excel, however, if you have some spreadsheets involving advanced math calculations.
Other features include an option to obtain a backup copy of the package. I will do this later.

I just wanted to add another comment on MS Office 2013.
MS Office 2013 is available generally as single user license. Having just upgraded from Office 2010, I was given 2 choices.
Either install Office 2013, or install Office 365 with a one year user subscription. (or additionally download a trial 365, together with the full 2013.)
Some of the forum users may be aware of this situation, when buying a Windows 8 PC. Most, but not all, are now sold either with an option, bundled with Office 365, or at least a trial version.
For the family with either two or three computers in the home, the cost may just balance out, as 365 comes with 5 licenses.
At a subscription cost of £6.99(?) per month this seems to be a high price to pay for 365 - or even more for several copies of Office 2013. (Which is the best and which is the least costly??)
There are many posts on the Microsoft support forums on this subject - but I don't think that there's much that can or will be done. I did read somewhere that the EU are complaining, but there's been nothing in the Media.
It has worked in my favour only because there is one main computer, and also the fact that the Internet connection is fast - but not superfast. Office 365 is a Cloud based product - it needs an Internet connection, although it still has limited functionality as an off-line program.
More and more dependency on the broadband connection....

  • Office 2013 Home & Student Edition - IRM (?)

    Hi,
I do want to know if I'm able to set up the IRM protection to my (Word, Excel, PP) documents with the Home & Student edition of the Office 2013 and If a person doesn't have any permission can he/she see the content of it ? (and can he edit it, or just
    with my permission?)
    Thank you in advance

    Hi VKevvina,
Information Rights Management (IRM) is a persistent file-level technology from Microsoft. It uses permissions and authorization to help prevent sensitive information from being printed, forwarded, or copied by unauthorized people. After permission for a
document or message is restricted by using this technology, the usage restrictions travel with the document or email message as part of the contents of the file.

  • App-V Office 2013/Office 365?

    Hi,
In order to App-v Office 2013, apparently you need Office 365 ProPlus? How to get it, we do have Office 2013 ProPlus but that's not sufficient? Don't get what the difference is actually.
Note: we don't want to use  Office 2013 click-n-run.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt
Note: the click-n-run doesn't give the option to mention you Exchange server, the junk folder used in Outlook etc., that's what we really need (just as the setup.exe /admin option in Office.

The difference between Office 365 ProPlus and Office Professional Plus 2013 is licensing only as the text you've quoted shows and as Rory has provided details on as well.
This is separate from how you deploy Office. With either Office 365 or Office 2013 you can choose to use a standard installation or the Office Deployment Tool (App-V). Office 365 also provides the Click-to-Run version which you download from the Office 365
    site.
If you have licensed Office 365, but want to use the Volume License media, you may have to purchase the media separately (which is really a download from the Volume License site). You may be required to purchase the minimum of 5 VL licenses to get access
to the media, but check with a Microsoft licensing expert for clarification.
The only supported method of deploying Office 2013 / Office 365 with App-V is via the Office Deployment Tool. This means that you can't use the VL media (SETUP /ADMIN) to create a configuration and capture that with the Sequencer.

  • Affects when migrating from Office 2013 to Office 365

I currently have office 2013, with two email addresses being used in Outlook.  I need to download Office 365 which I have already purchased.   Will this have any affect on my two Outlook email addresses, and all the emails that are there?

    Hi,
The activation and licensing are different between the Office 2013 and Office 365. We can't just
switch activated Office 2013 to Office 365. We can only uninstall Office 2013 and then install Office 365. In theory, we won't lose any emails in the email accounts configured in Office 2013. Just in case, we can back up your Outlook data files
of the two email accounts and then conduct the migration. To back up the data files, please refer:

    Hope this helps.

  • Office 2013: 10 Best Features You Should Know About

The new Office 2013 has some key updates that, while aren’t quite as dramatic as theWindows 8 from Windows 7change, still have some pretty cool features for mobile and desktop.  Office 2013, will ship sometime next year at prices that have not been announced
yet.  Check out the top 10 features:
Going Mobile. Microsoft has geared the new software towards a more mobile-friendly audience, allowing users to interact more
efficiently on mobile and tablets including finger and stylus controls that may help to spur Office’s migration to mobile devices. Another decidedly mobile move is Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, will come
with ARM-based Windows 8 devices including Microsoft Surface .
In The Cloud. Microsoft’s SkyDrive cloud service is being positioned to play a key role in Office users’ daily computing
lives. Office 2013 will save your documents to SkyDrive by default, enabling you to access files from multiple devices, including a smartphone and tablet. When you sign into Office from another device, your personalized settings and recently used files
are already there for you. The new Office is available as a cloud-based subscription too. Office 365 is now also available for home-based users as well as businesses. Subscribers will get automatic upgrades, additional SkyDrive storage, multiple installs for
several users, and added perks such as international calls via Skype.
Finger and Stylus. Office 2013 embraces touch and pen input. The touch and stylus features are geared towards smartphones and
tablets, as well as multi-touch laptops. The touch features are the same as users are accustomed to on their smartphones and tablets; swipe a finger across the screen to turn a page, pinch and zoom to read documents, and write with a finger or stylus.
Metro Style. Office 2013 conforms to Microsoft’s “Metro” look that’s pervasive across the software developers latest mobile
apps. The Office Ribbon in Word 2013 has a flatter look than its predecessor in Word 2010.
PDF’s in Word. You can now edit PDF files in Word 2013 (yay!). Simply open a PDF as you would any other document. Word maintains
the formatting of the file which is fully editable. You can insert pictures and videos from online sites such as YouTube and Facebook as well. And readers can watch video clips from inside your document.
Excel. Excel offers some useful upgrades including new templates for budgets, calendars, forms, and reports. The new Quick
Analysis Lens lets you convert data to a chart or table in a couple of steps. Flash Fill recognizes patters in your data and automatically fills cells accordingly. For example: if you want to separate first and last names into separate columns simply begin
typing the first names in a new column, press Ctrl+E and Excel will copy the first names for you.
PowerPoint Has Gained Power. PowerPoint 2013 now sports an updated Start screen with a variety of new themes and color schemes.
The Presenter View now makes it easier to zoom in on a diagram, chart, or other detail that you want to emphasize to the audience. The Navigation Guide lets you switch slides, even move out of sequence, from a grid that you can see but your audience can’t.
Presentations can be worked on from different PCs by colleagues to create a single presentation. Comments are allowed and presentations are saved online by default to SkyDrive.
OneNote. OneNote automatically saves your notes to Skydrive, you don’t have to click “Save”, making your brainstorming sessions
readily available across multiple devices. OneNote 2013 allows you to grab screens and add them to your notebooks.
Skype Has Been Integrated. You can now integrate Skype contacts with Microsoft’s enterprise-oriented Lync communications platform
for calling and instant messaging. Office subscribers get 60 minutes of Skype international calls each month.
Going Social. Office now includes Yammer, a secure and private social network for businesses that Microsoft tentatively acquired.
Yammer integrates with SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics, the company’s line of CRM and enterprise resource planning apps. Office 2013′s People Card tool provides detailed information about your contacts, including their status updates from Facebook and LinkedIn.

    Awesome!
Thanks for sharing the greate experience here. This is a good summary of Office 2013 cool features which is definitely useful for those who want to learn about the new Office.
