MIDP2.0 Push Registry Feature in Windows Mobile

Hi All,
I have developed the application using the Push Registry feature for MIDP2.0 phones. When i install this application on Windows Mobile, its giving error that Invalid MIDlet. Then i removed the Static Registration from Jad file, and also removed the MessageListener interface from my MIDlet.
After this process only i am able to install. After installation i have tried to Register the PUSH Registry dynamically from Code, this gives an error that IOException. Is there anyother way to achieve this for Pushing my application automatically on windows mobile when an SMS arrives in Port.? Kindly anyone give me the solution if faced the same problem in Windows Mobile.
Thanks & Regards

  • OSX Server and Windows Mobile 5 push email service?

Pretty simple question...Can OSX Tiger Server "push" email to Windows Mobile 5 devices natively, or is there a 3rd party option available to do so? Microsoft Exchange 2003 is capable of doing this, however I would like to go all OSX at this point.
    Thanks

I have been researching this topic for a while now as well and haven't found a satisfying solution. Of course, you could set your phones to establish a connection every say 10 minutes to query if new email has arrived. There are also a number of hints, how to set up a second email address for forwarding messages to e.g. Blackberrys. Another issue, for which I haven't found a solution is how to sync your phone's email with your desktop machine, except for wireless.
Any progress you hear, please let me know.

  • RFE: Some issues with the Pre/WebOS coming from the perspective of a former Windows Mobile user, Part I

I just switched over to a Palm Pre from a Windows Mobile device a week or two ago.  Now, don’t get me wrong here—I really do like the Palm.  For the most part, all of those things that were buggy, slow and inconsistent with Windows Mobile just simply work on the Palm, and that’s a very good thing.  However, when a product is so good, it makes the problems stand out all that much more, and with a lot of the problems I’m finding, the decision making on the part of Palm that led to the problem is just baffling to me.  I am hoping that I am just missing something on at least some of these issues, but so far, I have a laundry list of the things/features/omissions that I just really can't understand.  Because I have 8 issues, I'm going to break these down into three separate posts, with a few days in between each.  So, here goes PART I:
    1)  You can't select/manage multiple e-mails or text messages?  This is a pretty big problem, as I very consistently need to mark dozens and dozens of messages as read and then delete them, and swiping them off the screen one at a time just doesn't cut it.  Not only is it slow and painfully cumbersome, but it leaves them all marked as unread back in Outlook.  This really needs to be fixed, and I cannot imagine that even one single Palm user would disagree with me on this.  Actually, I think my bigger concern is how the product got developed without this ability in the first place, especially when prior Palm offerings apparently had it.
    2)  WebOS forces you to sort ALL contacts the same way?  I have many contacts set up in Outlook to be sorted by last name, and many others set up to be sorted by company name.  I've done this because that is how I need them sorted--sometimes the individual is my focus, but I have their company listed, and sometimes the company is the focus, but I have an individual contact listed.  Outlook, and every other contact management app I've seen, recognizes this, and allows me to sort each individual contact in the manner that best fits that contact.  Unfortunately, WebOS apparently ignores the Outlook "File As" field, and makes me sort everybody the exact same way.  As above, I cannot imagine anybody disagreeing with me that this is an important fix, and also as above, I can’t figure out why this wasn’t simply done this way from the get go.
    3)  No scroll bars?  Okay, so scrolling by flicking with your finger obviously works better than scrolling with a scroll bar along the side of the screen, but let’s not forget the fact that the scroll bar performs another EXTREMELY important function aside from actually scrolling:  the scroll bar provides the user with instant feedback as to how long the list is and how far down the list the user has scrolled.  These are two extremely, extremely useful pieces of information, and they are completely missing on the Pre.  I tried to look through some applications on my Pre the other day (more on the problems with the app store below), and I had a list of probably 100 or 200 applications that fit my search criteria, and I scrolled, and scrolled, and scrolled, and never had any idea of any sort how far down the list I had gotten nor how far I had left to go—and that was extraordinarily frustrating.  Oh, and if I wasn’t able to finish going through the list in one sitting, guess what, I have absolutely no possible way to run the search again and quickly get back to the point where I left off, because I have absolutely no idea how far along I had gotten.  I have to say, this glaring omission makes using the Pre on anything but very short lists and websites, well, unusable.  Scroll bars are everywhere—they’re there in every single program or application I have ever seen when the data presented goes off the available screen area, and there is a very, very good reason for their overwhelming prevalence—a reason that has nothing to do with the actual act of scrolling.  I think this one is probably my biggest complaint with the Pre.
I will post the next few in a separate post, but these are my "top 3".  To be honest, most of these just really leave me scratching my head wondering “what were they thinking?”  The Pre is a great product, but obvious little shortcomings really stand out on a good product (can anybody say “where’s the cut and paste, Apple?”, which, by the way, is a mistake that MS is about to bafflingly repeat with WM 7).  I should note that it would be difficult for anybody to say that I suffer from "One True Way" syndrome when all of the things I suggest, if implemented, wouldn't detract from the experience of those users who don't want these features, but they would benefit those of us who do want them tremendously.  My "way" doesn't require a compromise of any sort for anybody--it merely requires adding features, and the people who don't want/need those features can simply ignore them with no ill consequence of any sort.  Sorry for the long post, but I’m hopeful somebody at Palm is listening.  And yes, I know that posting multiple problems in one post is not ideal, but these all have a common, intertwining theme, and I'm at least breaking them up somewhat.

I really like my Pre, but I understand what you mean about somewhat baffling omissions in features. I think the Palm has a winning platform already, they just need to focus on hunting down and destroying bugs for a few months. Honestly, most of the things the Pre is missing should be provided by third parties except they're hesitant to invest because the pre and pixi haven't sold like gangbusters compared to Android and the iPhone. But really, if the price keeps dropping on palm hardware and they keep launching on new platforms (due soon on att), I think we'll be looking at a different view in a few more months. I'd wager that Palm has sold a bit less than a million devices, add Att and you'll end up around 1.2-1.5. If they keep fixing issues and making current customers happy, then launch a nice phone the end of this year, they'll be in good shape. You don't need to sell 15 million units to have a viable platform, just enough of a mass to ensure people want to take a risk developing. • Uploading data from a windows mobile device to a server using GPRS

I want to upload data from a java application in pda (a Windows Mobile 6.1 device) to a server using a GPRS connection. My application uses a IBM weme VM.
I want to know whether I can do this in Java itself, because otherwise I would have to resort to some C++ methods(that uses the connection manager api) and call that using jni. But if there is some java method for this,it would have been helpful and straightforward..
Can I do this using socket connection in java? if so, Would somebody provide a code snippet ?Which port to connect to in that case?
Plz let me know about this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey forum....
When I dock my Windows Mobile device in a Windows 7 PC, the Windows Mobile Device Center opens and I can browse the device and copy files between it and the PC. However, I'm looking some kind of way to automate this process. All I'm really interested in
is a single file named TEXT.TXT which is stored in the My Documents folder. Basically, I'm looking for a script that will detect the Windows device (it's USB-attached) when docked, find the file TEXT.TXT in the My Documents folder and then copy this file to
the /Temp folder on the desktop.
I've tried using the synchronization feature of WMDC but it copies the file to a documents folder set up for the specific device. Instead, I'm looking to find and copy the file to C:\TEMP regardless of the device.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Everett
Just configure the device to sync the folders you want to sync.  Start by reading the help very carefully.
This is not a scripting question and this forum is not for end user questions.   I suggest posting in the Windows Phone forum.
You can also sync via OneDrive over a cellular or wireless connection.

  • Windows Mobile and syncing with Vista

I just recently bought a new laptop (within the last week) with Vista as the operating system.  I also use Outlook 2007.  When I hook my phone up by the usb cable sometimes the computer acknowledges my phone and sometimes not.  However, when it does acknowledge it, it does not give me the option to set it up, only an option to sync music, photos and tv.  All I want to do is to sync to Outlook.
You can probably tell from my message that I am not very tech savvy but if someone can tell me what to do I can do it!  I have read the help menu in Vista backward and forward but still have no idea how to get my phone to sync.  Someone please help me before I lose my mind!  Is there anything that I have to download to be able to sync?  I realize that activesync no longer is needed on Vista but I am unable to tell whether I have to download the Windows Mobility Device Center or if it is already in Vista.  I cannot find anything that looks like the WMDC is supposed to look like on my computer and like I said, I am not offered the option of setting up my device.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Alltel)

Ok one way to make sure and see if WMDC is install is to go into your control panel and open the programs and features. And look for the windows mobile device center. If it is listed then it is installed if not (which I think is the case) then you would need to go to here to install it http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
once installed you should get the setup option.
Let me know if any of this does not work

  • How to Run a Hello World Java application on WIndows Mobile

    Hi!
We have a sample Plug-in environment Java application downloaded from http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/os-ecl-ercp/index.html - IBM library.
We have downloaded the source files org.eclipse.testworkbenchapp_1.0.0.jar and tried running the application on desktop PC, this worked fine.
We are using Eclipse 3.2 to run this Java application on Desktop.
Now, we are trying to run the same application on Intermec Windows Mobile 5.0 device.
    1. The device has IBM J9 ? WebSphere MicroEnvironment MIDP 2.0 for Windows Mobile2003 installed in it.
    2. On installing this on Windows Mobile, in Start ? Programs ? we find MIDlet HQ - on launching this, opens a window with Install button.
    3. On Click on Install button, another window opens which asks for URL to install.
    4. In the URL Edit box, I give file:////Org.Eclipse.testWorkbenchapp.feature_1.0.0.jar which is present in \MyDocuments\Update site folder copied from desktop workspace via Active sync ? As mentioned in the above IBM library site.
    5. I have also tried file:////MyDocuments\Updatesite\Org.Eclipse.testWorkbenchapp.feature_1.0.0.jar as input to URL.
    6. On click OK, I get an error titled AMS Error with description The application descriptor was missing the required MIDlet Name field.
I am held up here and not able to move further.
As mentioned in the above IBM library site I tried downloading the update site folder via Eclipse ? Software Updates ? Find and Install in Help menu.
I selected Search for new features to install and browsed the Update site folder location present in my Eclipse workspace. This also does not work.
Any help in this regard in greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would ask such questions in the J2ME forums, or even better in a websphere forum, like here:

  • How to install the JRE that comes with JME 3.0 to a Windows Mobile device

    From Sun's JME download page:
Integration with 3rd party emulators and Windows Mobile devices
The new Java ME Platform SDK architecture allows integration of 3rd party emulators and devices. Java ME Platform SDK comes with Sun's Java runtime environment for Windows Mobile. A user can install this runtime on a Windows Mobile device or a Microsoft device emulator and experience all the on-device features of Java ME Platform SDK.*
My question is, how can I install the Java runtime environment that comes with Java ME Platform SDK 3.0 to a Windows Mobile device. I am a newbie in this device programming and I'm setting up my development environment. So far, I have installed JME in my computer, and have also installed both the Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 emulator. I've been searching the internet for answers, but it always points me to using a third party java runtime such us Mysaifu, etc. I would like to stick with what is packaged with JME if possible.
If anybody assist me or direct me to an online documentation on how to do this. All help is greatly appreciated :-)

I had some success installing on a real Mobile 5 device [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5344195]
There is a link to a doc on the main download page, item 5 under How to Install. [http://java.sun.com/javame/downloads/sdk30ea.jsp] I used this for the real device, Treo 700w. Did not try it with an emulator.
The support looks to be an emulator rather than a JVM per say. But then again I could be wrong on that. I too had poked around looking for a JVM, CrEme, J9, etc..
I do have a commercial app installed on the Treo that uses IBM's J9, which is seems requires a contact with a sales person to get ahold of. I had hoped to find something that might clue me in on how to "hook up" my own J2ME app with the J9 installed by the commercial package. But I've pretty much decided to get a real J2ME handset rather than continue to waste my time hacking up something with WM. Now the question is which one makes a good reference platform?

  • Show hiide Buttons not working in andorid OS and windows mobile OS

    Hi,
I made a file in Indesign CS6. This file has a map with dots on it. When a user clicks a dot, an info box pops up giving info about that dot. He clicks the box to make it dissappear and can click another dot for the next info.  I achieved this using the hide and show feature of buttons and exported using interactive Pdf. The file works fine on a windows Pc but it does not work on andorid or windows mobile platform. How can I make it work for both?

I assume that you're talking about Show-Hide Fields in an interactive PDF. It's not likely that it will work given the limitations of most PDF readers on mobile devices.
I'm a user of an iPad and iPhone, and haven't worked with Android or Windows devices but I think the issues are the same on all platforms. Some PDF readers are better than others. You didn't say what PDF reader you were testing on.
Here are two articles I've written about the frustrations of getting interactivity to work on mobile devices, in this case, an iPad:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/for-interactive-pdf-not-all-readers-are-equal.php
    http://indesignsecrets.com/navigation-button-tricks-for-interactive-pdf-on-an-ipad.php
The best PDF reader for iOS devices is PDF Expert, but I don't believe that exists for Android or Windows devices. I can view interactivity that Adobe Reader doesn't support.

  • Push Registry : MIDlet  activated by servlet ?

hello, i have been trying to figure this out for days now could someone please help. I am trying to get the MIDlet to by activated by a Servlet which resides on a apache webserver , is this possible?
how do you go about in getting the MIDlet to register a connection which waits for some activity sent via HTTP? do you register a socket to listen on a port on the device and get the servlet to send data to that port via HTTP?(if so how is this done?)
Basically all i am trying to do is get a servlet to send data to the midlet. The MIDlet is installed from the webserver with ease, i want the midlet to wait till the server decides to send some data. the servlet will activate the midlet (this is the problem) , so then the midlet will open the http connection to the servlet.
Please ask if the question needs clarifying, I would be very thankful for any advice provided.
    cheers
    Max

    thanks for info
i have been trying for a while now and cant seem to get this working what i have got is a MIDlet that listens on port 90 of a socket connection. i am trying to create a Servlet that sends data onto port 90 so the midlet can be activated via the push registry. i am having the trouble with the servlet(which i cant get working, i assume that the code is wrong), i cant seem to get a socket connection working, i have tried to open a socket connection but have had no luck.
i have posted some code, the MIDlet is there and so is my attempt at a servlet.
what i want to do is get the servlet sending the midlet data on a specified port
and the midlet recieveing that data and displaying it on the mobile emulator
(so far all the MIDlet code does is listen for some activaty on port 90 and then send some data to the browser on the following url : http://localhost:90/)
if anyone can get this problem on this example code i am testing on, fixed it would be much appreciated!!
    Thanks

Does anyone know of a program that will allow you to save "pdf" files on Windows mobile?  I want to fill-out a form I created in Acrobat 9 and saved.  Then fill it out on a Windows Mobile device and save the filled form.  Reader 2.0 for Windows Mobile does not have a save feature.  Thanks.

    Hi
Well, a friend of mine has a Tecra S3 and he is very satisfied with this unit.
As far as I know this unit was delivered with Windows XP and all drivers are available for this unit. Toshiba designed drivers for common OS like W2k, XP.
If you want to use the especially tools and utilities so you should use this OS. Its a simply fact. Notebook technology is very different and tricky as a desktop PC. Of course you can use another OS but so you can not expect to use the special tools.
For example: the technology of notebook video graphic cards is not the same! Its very difficult to get the higher graphic performance without high temperature and overheating issues. In this case the Toshiba graphic driver has a overheating protection. Nvidia or other manufacturers drivers doesnt have this option because they designed drivers for desktop PCs not for notebooks.
Toshiba sells many different notebook models with different hardware compatibility. So if you are not able to find any drivers for this notebook so you should try to check drivers for other notebooks with the same hardware devices.

  • Synchronizing software for Windows 7 and Windows Mobile

    Hi All,
I am trying to synchronize my PC with a Windows Mobile device (Scanner). When I googled I came to know Microsoft Mobile Device Center 6.1 is used to synchronize Windows Vista with many devices. But I am looking for a software which can synchronize my Windows
    7 PC and Mobile Device.
Can someone suggest me on this. It's pretty urgent.
Please refer to the System Requirements - Supported Devices section in the url mentioned below. This is for Windows Vista. Similar to this I am expecting a software for Windows 7.

    Hi,
Regarding sync issue between mobile device and the Windows 7 system, we could accomplished it with device stage.
    Description:
There are two primary ways to sync a mobile phone, portable music player, or other mobile device with your computer. You can install the sync software that many manufacturers include with their devices, or you can use the new Device Stage feature in this
version of Windows if your device supports this feature.
Device Stage lets you sync music, contacts, calendars, and other files and information with a compatible mobile device. It also allows you to perform other device-related tasks that vary depending on the device, such as creating ringtones for a mobile phone.
What files and information you can sync depends on the type of device you have and what it supports. For example, you may be able to sync contacts and calendars with a smartphone, but not with a portable music player.
More information, we could take a look at the below links:
Sync music, pictures, contacts, and calendars with a mobile device
    Device management
Besides, some folks told that Winodows Mobile Device Center 6.1.6965 will work and sync well on Windows 7 Professional, and to install WMDC, we should have Windows Media Player running first.
Please take a look at the below thread:
Windows 7 and Windows Mobile 6.5
    Hope this may help
