Migrate JBOSS Application (ear file)to Netweaver (ear file)

Hi Experts,
I am trying to migrate my .EJB application which is currently running under JBOSS to Netweaver Server.
Backend is SQLServer 2005.
I have used CMP EJB.
I am trying to convert my EJB/CMP field reference from JBOSS deployment descriptor with persistent.xml.
As from NWDS we need to give the reference of JAVA Dictionary project tables/fields for this field mappings.
I don't have the JAVA Dictionary project created, as my project contains more than 300 tables.
What is the best option to convert my project to Netweaver Compliant project.
Is there any way to convert SQL Tables into Java Dictionary Project.??
Thanks
Chinna.

As from NWDS we need to give the reference of JAVA Dictionary project tables/fields for this field mappings.
Do you hace to do that because of JPA? If yes you can directly connect to Database instead of DDIC project. In the Datasource Explorer you can create a direct connection to an existing database.
You can use that connection in JPA Tools...

  • EAR proects deploys but has no application.xml file!

    Hello,
    I working my through a Web Logic tutorial and the very first step is to create a the application projects like this:
    # Select File > New > Project.
    # In the New Project dialog, open the node Workshop Quick Start Applications and select WebLogic/Beehive Web Application.
    Click Next.
    # In the Application Name field, enter CustomerCare.
    Next to Domain home click the Browse button. Browse to <BEA_HOME>/workshop_10.3/samples/domains/workshop. Click OK.
    Click Finish.
    The applications are create and I can deploy the ear project, but it doesn't contain an application.xml file and I don't understand how this can work. Can someone enlighten me please.

    The wizard created three projects: CustomerCare, CustomerCareEAR and CustomerCareSharedCode. I'm assuming
    that the project is being deployed is an EAR.The CustomerCareEAR is an EAR project in your application. The application.xml file will be located in CustomerCareEAR/EarContent directory.
    I'm not entirely sure where the project is getting deployed to. I thought it would be to <BEA HOME>\user_projects,
    but I can't see an EAR or directory structure in there that would suggest that this is the deployment directory.
    As I am deploying the project from within Eclipse it is possible (perhaps) that eclipse is deploying the project directly
    from my workspace - but I can't be sure.The deployment does not use user_projects directory. It happens largely directly from the Eclipse workspace with assistance of a few temporary directories. The structure of deployment is not something that you need to be concerned about.
    If you want to see what the EAR will look like when you are done, export an EAR archive using the wizard under File -> Export. Point the wizard at CustomerCareEAR project.

  • Stand-alone JNDI lookup of an EJB in an Enterprise Application (EAR) build

    Hi All,
    I am having some difficulty doing JNDI look up an EJB 3.0 Bean that is part of an Enterprise Application (EAR) build. Below are all the related codes:
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Local;
    @Local
    public interface Hello1Local {
        public String getHello1();
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @Stateless
    public class Hello1Bean implements Hello1Local {
        public String getHello1() {
            return "I am Hello1 Bean!";
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    @Remote
    public interface Hello2Remote {
        public String getHello2();
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    @Stateless
    @EJB(name="ejb/Hello1",
         beanInterface=Hello1Local.class,
         beanName="Hello1Bean")
    public class Hello2Bean implements Hello2Remote {
        @EJB private Hello1Local hello1bean;
        public String getHello2() {
            return hello1bean.getHello1();
    There is no problem looking up Hello2 Bean using an Application Client such as the following:
    public class LocalHelloApplicationClient {
        @EJB(name="Hello2")
        private static Hello2Remote hello2Bean;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            System.out.println("hello2Bean.getHello2(): " + hello2Bean.getHello2());
    }There is also no problem doing JNDI lookup (from a Stand-Alone Client the same bean if both Hello1 and Hello2 were created by themselves. ie not part of an Enterprise Application (EAR) build. However, I am wondering whether it is possible to do JNDI lookup of the same bean (Hello2) that is part of an Enterprise Application (EAR) built. Below are the type of JNDI lookup entries that I have tried without success:
    public class StandalonePojoCallHelloWorld {
        public static void main(String [] args)
            try
                InitialContext jndiContext = new InitialContext();
                Hello2Remote hello2Bean =  (Hello2Remote) jndiContext.lookup("ejb.Hello2Remote");
                                                                     or
                Hello2Remote hello2Bean =  (Hello2Remote) jndiContext.lookup("LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication.Hello2.remote");
                                                                     or
                Hello2Remote hello2Bean =  (Hello2Remote) jndiContext.lookup("LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication.ejb.Hello2Remote");
                                                                     or
                Hello2Remote hello2Bean =  (Hello2Remote) jndiContext.lookup("LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication.Hello2Remote");
                                                                     or
                Hello2Remote hello2Bean =  (Hello2Remote) jndiContext.lookup("LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication.LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication-ejb.Hello2Remote");
                System.out.println("hello2Bean.getHello2(): " + hello2Bean.getHello2());
            catch (javax.naming.NamingException ne)
             ne.printStackTrace();
    They all came up with the same error message:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication.LocalHelloEnterpriseApplication-ejb.Hello2Remote not found

    Hello
    I've somme problems to get access to ejb interface from remote stand-alone client.
    Here is my EJB code :
    package stateless;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @Stateless(name = "TestSB", mappedName = "ejb/stateless/TestSB")
    public class TestEJBBean implements TestEJBRemote {
        public String getMessage() {
           return "Hello EJB World";
    }And the remote interface :
    package stateless;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    @Remote
    public interface TestEJBRemote {
        String getMessage();
    } In client side, i just edit main.java like this :
    package testclient;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.util.Properties;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import stateless.TestEJBRemote;
    public class Main {

            Properties props = new Properties();
            props.load(new FileInputStream("jndi.properties"));
            InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props);
            TestEJBRemote testEJB = (TestEJBRemote) ctx.lookup("ejb/stateless/TestSB");
            System.out.println(testEJB.getMessage());
    }here is my jndi.properties file (my glassfish server IP is 192.168.0.10) :

    But i run it on the different machine than the glassfish app server (on the same LAN without firewall), it fails with this error message :

  • How to migrate a full J2EE application from WebLogic to NetWeaver?

    I have an independent J2EE application which can be run on WebLogic successfully. Now, I want to migrate it to the platform of NetWeaver. Could you tell me how to do with it? And where can I find the jar files of the application I deployed?
    Thank you very much!

    Have you tried the "exploded" format?
              Also, do you mean Weblogic 6.1 (sp2?).

  • Partial redeploy of an application ear fails intermittently

    Hi,
    I am trying to redeploy my application ear using deployment API provided by weblogic. The list of files which i try to redeploy are couple of jars and couple of wars one at a time. The problem is most of the times the deployment paritally goes through informing me that weblogic has transitioned application status from activated at last. But in some cases i see "<b>javax.management.InstanceAlreadyExistsException"</b> though the application is already present. Why does this happen where in the handle to ApplicationMBean tries to register the application as though it was new which is not the case. Check the exception below.

    The info for the 149080 error is included below:
    Basically, you can only do a partial redeploy if you are using an exploded directory app.
    Error: A partial update of an archived application is not allowed. Application app cannot be redeployed.

  • Deploying EJB JAR and Application EAR, META-INF directory name

    To all:
    I had a problem the last couple of days with deploying an EJB and application.
    I'm new to WebLogic, maybe this is common knowledge, but I researched it and
    didn't find any reference to what I discovered.
    I'm using WebLogic Server 7 Service Pack 2 (7.02), on Windows 2000.
    My problem was that the application that I was trying to deploy would not deploy
    successfully, because a dependent class was not found for the EJB. I tried everything,
    but the only thing I could get to work was placing the dependent jar files in
    the classpath of the WebLogic server, within the start script. I correctly had
    the Class-Path manifest line correct, but the dependent classes were not being
    found.
    Through trial and error I discovered that the META-INF directory within the JAR
    and EAR archives HAS TO BE ALL UPPERCASE for the app server to successfully find
    the manifest.mf file and the application.xml file.
    As soon as I changed the directory name in both the EJB JAR file and the application
    EAR file, the EJB deployed successfully, all dependent classes were then found.
    I'm posting this here to help anybody that might have the same problem. There
    is not any documentation that I could find that had this directory name requirement
    explicitly stated.

    JD

    What does the manual for the OC4J application server have to say about it all?

  • Images in the shared library not loaded in the application EAR

    The images in the shared library are not getting loaded in the application EAR deployed in the weblogic server.
    I have a portal web project, which is deployed in the server, as a shared library. I'm using this shared library in my application EAR. All the details like the portlets, look and feel elements are loaded. But the images are not displayed when I run my application. Please help!!
    Can it be a problem with the context path specified or something else?

    Hello,
    It is most likely an issue with how your portlets are creating the URLs to the images. What kind of portlets are you using (JPF, JSF, JSR168, Struts, JSP)? And how are you generating the URLs to the images?

    Hello:
    Will Migration Assistant application transfer my applications' settings and all my games' save file such as Spore and even ported games?
    I doubt if anyone can answer your question.  With a new Mac, setup assistant opens the first time the system is turned on.  One can also use migration assistant.
    I have used both for several years and have never "lost" any data.
    If you want to move, have a good backup and then do it.

  • How to migrate JPS application security policy to weblogic 10.3.1

    Hi,
    How do I migrate my application security policy (defined in the jazn-data.xml in my application ear file) to the system-jazn-data.xml in weblogic 10.3.1? The [previous solution provided here|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html] by Steve Muench seems to work only for weblogic 10.3.
    Thanks in advance!
    Edited by: Qinyan Leong on Nov 20, 2009 4:33 PM

    In 11gR1 (which uses WLS 10.3.1) onwards the application policy specified in the application's jazn-data.xml is automatically migrated upon application deployment to the domain policy store (which could be system-jazn-data.xml or OID).
    See chapter 7 of the Fusion Middleware Security Guide linked here.

  • Application.xml file?

    What is the use of the Application.xml file in enterprise application> If we not specified it...what will happen?
    Thanks,
    R.

    The application.xml file specifies metadata about the Java EE application as a whole. The main pieces of information are the list of modules(ejb-jar, .war, application client, etc.) in the .ear. It was required for J2EE 1.4 and earlier but is optional in Java EE 5, where the module type is derived based on the contents of the modules themselves.

    Prasad.Y

    Hi Prasad,
    <u>In ep5</u>:
    1. go to Portal Administration* -> Export
    2. select a role
    3. choose an export destination on the server (default is under EP5Data/.../Data/Export).
    4. press Export
    <u>In the server of the ep5 system</u>:
    1. put all the generated files in a folder, and zip it.
    <u>In ep6</u>:
    1. go to System Administration -> Transport -> Import
    2. choose "client"
    3. upload the zip you create and Press Import
    4. look under Migrated Content in the portal content for the result.
    Whereever that doesn't work, the way is to recreate the iView in ep6 (your developments from par, built-in iViews like KM navigation etc. from templates), and recreate the entire role/workset/page hierarchy.
    Hope that helps,
    Yoav.

  • Info : Migrating Apex Application from Non-SSO to SSO environment

    Hi All,
    This post is to share my experience while working on APEX. This may be useful to some apex developer.
    If we migrate an apex application from a non-sso (i.e. http) to sso (i.e. https) environment, the flash chart doesn't work.
    I found that in the source of a Flash Chart region, we use #HOST# variable to locate the swf file. The environment variable takes the correct path but with "http" as prefix. But to access application pages "https" is used. Because of which, the swf file couldn't be located by the application.
    Work-around Solution : If I hard code the value i.e. the application path having "https" replacing #HOST# variable then the flash chart works fine. I couldn't found a way by which the #HOST# parameter value can be updated to take "https".
    The same environment host other non-sso applications as well.
    Any comments on this are welcomed.
    Regards,
    Mangal

    Hi Dirk,
    Thanks for the reply.
    As I mentioned earlier, by Non-SSO I mean "http" and by SSO I mean "https". This is because, before migration the application was accessible using "http" and now we have to use "https" alongwith SSO to access the application. I only want to highlight the Flash Chart issue with this migration.
    The problem doesn't solves with your solution as I am getting correct instance/environment name with #HOST# but prefixed with "http" and not "https". Hence the application won't be able to locate the required swf file.
    Even the workaround I mentioned is only feasible, if an application has only few Flash Charts. However, if there are large no. of Flash charts in an application, then it would be a tedious task to update all flash chart source either by an application item (as you mentioned in your post) or hard coding the path itself. Also, every new Flash Chart source needs to be updated by a developer to fix this.
    A better solution is required by which the Flash chart source is not touched and the #HOST# variable for the application is updated to take the "https" prefixed to the swf file path.
