Migrating WD projects to DC's

Hi guys,
Please help me out.
I have a Web Dynpro project that I would like to break this project into several small DC's ( i'm trying to experiment DC's without NWDI) . In fact, what I tried is to convert old WD project into a single DC and then take the latter for breaking into smaller DC's.
Here are the steps I intend to do :
1) Create a single DC (type WD) and try to copy WD components from old WD project using copy and paste
2) Try to copy models used in old WD project to new DC
3) Several small DC will be decomposed from the newly created DC
My questions :
1) Did I go in the right direction?? if not, please tell me how
2) Is there a way to copy models created from old WD projet into models of newly projet instead of recreate models from scratch??
Thanks a lot in advance guys
Ralph

Create a new Webdynpro DC in NWDS, Go to webdynpro perspectives Navigator View, Expand the old project node > src > packages > com right click on com, copy the whole folder and paste it on the same path in the new DC (in Navigator view), similarly copy everything from the old project node > model folder > src > packages > com and paste at the same node in new DC. Now go webdynpro explorer view right click on the DC and select the option Reload and Rebuild.
You are done. Deploy and run the application.
Thanks & Peace

  • Import/export issue to migrate the project

    Hi,
I am trying to migrate a project from 1 server to another server.
I exported the project and model from my current server, and imported them to the new server. the thing is, the senario can be run successfully, but when I open the interface in designer, the source table cannot get any definition, all the columns in the source table won't show up. it looks like to me is that the interface lost the connection of the data store in the model.
Anybody has any idea how to fix it?
    Thx

    Hi
If its a fresh imploementation then its fine.
Say yu migrated the ODI objects to prod and you face an issue.
you have fixed it in development and want to move it to prod.
How do you handle this scenario.
Please let us know the process that you are following

After migrating to project server 2013 from 2010. my some of mpp are not opening in project professional.
project professional taking some time and then showing checkin error. There are no logs on project server to this issue.
but you can see these project in project server 2013 without issue. I have also tried the EditLink function. but result is same project professional not able to open. Check in error.

    Hello,
    Can you try this:
Open one of those Projects in PWA to edit in the browser
make a slight change (new dummy task etc.)
Save and Publish from the web
Close and check in from the web
Wait for the jobs to complete
    Open project professional
try and open the same project again from there

  • How to migrate C++ project from VS 2015 Ultimate Preview to VS 2013 Professional

    Hi!
Is there any convenient way to migrate a VCXProj from 2015 Preview to 2013? 2013 gives an error saying that it cannot migrate the project.
    Thanks,
    -BalinKingOfMoria

Is the error you get about Platform Toolset v140?
I just "downgraded a VS 2015 C++ project to VS 2013 and encountered an issue with Platform Toolset v140 not recognized in VS 2013.
Simple fix: Project->(your project name) Properties...
In the Properties dialog, drop down the Platform Toolset list and select VS 2013 V120.
After I did that, I could rebuild successfully and the conversion was completed.

  • WLST scripts for deploying and migrating OSB project required

    Hi,
I need sample/reusable WLST scripts for the following requirements:
    1. deploying OSB project developed on workbench to the remote server.

  • Migrating ODI Project

    Hi Experts,
I need your expert guidance to migrate ODI Project from Dev to Test instance.
I have no knowledge about migration ODI.
Could you please enlist what are the component which are need to migrated.
What backup statery should be followed and any precaution to be taken.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Cheers
    Andy

I would say there are 2 different ways.
The first is when your Test environment (even if it is already created) is empty, then you just have to recover Dumps of Dev's Repositories...
For the second (which should be your case) you can follow this 3 steps which works for me:
    - Duplicate your topology in your Test environment. That's the thing I always do manually, but I think that you should be able to export/import it too.
    - Export your models (or model's Folder) which are used in your project and then import it in Synonym mode.
    - Export your project and then Import it in Synonym mode.
Ok so now I will just explain you the synonym mode:
It can be Update, Insert or Update_Insert.
Your choice will depend on existence of what you want to import, if it already exist then Update mode, if not Insert mode.
If only part of it already exist choose the Update_Insert mode.
My main advice is to avoid using the Duplicate mode for linked objects (Models - Projects,...)...
But in a Dev to Test context you could just need to execute what you have done in Development environment in your Test one, and then a Topology update and a scenario export could be the solution.
If in Test you see an error you correct it in Dev and then re export a regenerated scenario, this is the easier way but all depend your needs.

  • How to migrate CAF project from 7.0 to 7.2 ?

    Hi, All.
I have developed some caf projects with NW7.0.  Now I have to migrate those projects to NW7.2.
NWDS 7.2 seems be able to convert the caf project from NW7.0 to NW7.2, but not all of the project.
After conversion I lost my application services and only reserved entity services.
Dose there anyone know how to migrate the caf project completely?
    Thanks a lot.

I have already tried many ways to migrate my caf projects.
Only bo part of caf project can be migrated, but I still need to recode the as.
It means nothing, because most codes were written in as part.
I decide to recode it. >.<

  • Problem while migrating EJB Project developed in NWDS 2.0.11 to NWDS 7.1

    Hi all,
I have developed one EJB Project using NWDS 2.0.11 and now i am migrating it to NWDS 7.1. I have copied that EJB project into the work space of NWDS 7.1. Now its giving build problems for the class path variables for ejb20.jar like...
Unbound classpath variable: 'TSSAP_JAVAX_HOME/lib/ejb20.jar' in project RemoteDeployEJB RemoteDeployEJB July 27, 2006 11:52:09 AM 29
so pls help me to resolve this issue. How to set class path for that variable in my NWDS 7.1.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

    Hi Kiran,
You need to migrate the project. There should be an error message in the problems view that the project should be migrated. Right click on the error message and choose quick fix. Then Migrate Project option should appear. Choose it and follow the steps in the migration wizard.

  • Migrating large project from DSC 7.1 to LabView 2009 Shared Variables ... What's the next step after recreating my variables?

I am in the process of migrating a large distributed (multi-workstation) automation system from the LabVIEW 7.11 DSCEngine on Windows XP to the LabVIEW 2009 Shared Variable Engine on Windows 7.
I have about 600 tags which represent data or IO states in a series of Opto22 instruments, accessible via their OptoOPCServer. There are another 150 memory tags which are used so the multiple workstations can trade requests and status information to coordinate motion and process sequencing.  Only one workstation may be allowed to run the Opto22 server, because otherwise the Opto22 instruments are overwhelmed by the multiple communications requests; for simplicity, I'll refer to that workstation as the Opto22 gateway.
The LabVIEW 2009 migration tool was unable to properly migrate the Opto22 tags, but with some help from NI support (thank you, Jared!) and many days of pointing and clicking, I have successfully created a bound shared-variable library connecting to all the necessary data and IO.  I've also created shared variables corresponding to the memory tags. All the variables have been deployed.
So far, so good. After much fighting with Windows 7 network location settings,  I can open the Distributed System Manager on a second W7/LV2009 machine (I'll refer to it as the "remote" machine henceforth) and see the processes and all those variables on the Opto22 gateway workstation. I've also created a few variables on the remote workstation and confirmed that I can see them from the gateway workstation.
Now I need to be able to use (both read and write) the variables in VIs running on the remote workstation machine. (And by extension, on more remote workstations as I do the upgrade/migration).
I have succeeded in reading and writing them by creating a tag reader pointed at the URL for the process on the Opto22 gateway. I can see a way I could replace the old DSC tag reads and writes in my applications using this technique, but is this the right way to do this? Is this actually using the Shared Variable Engine, or is it actually using the DataSocket? I know for a fact that attempting to manipulate ~800 items via Datasocket will bog down the systems.
I had the impression that I should be able to create shared variables in my project on the remote workstation that link to those on the Opto22 gateway workstation. When, however, I try to browse to find the processes on that workstation, I get an error saying that isn't possible.
Am I on the right track with the tag reader? If not, is there some basic step I'm missing in trying to access the shared variables I created on the gateway workstation?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have found the answer to part of my question -- an relatively easy way to create a "remote" library of shared variables that connect to the master library on my gateway workstation.
Export the variables from the master library as a csv file and copy that to the remote machine.
Open the file on the remote machine (in excel or the spreadsheet app of your choice) and (for safety's sake) immediately save it with a name marking it as the remote version.
Find the network path column (it was "U" in my file).
replace the path for each variable (which will be either a long file path or a blank, depending on the kind of variable) with \\machine\'process name'\variable name
where machine is the name or ip address of the master (gateway) workstation (I used the ip address to make sure it uses my dedicated automation ethernet network rather than our building-wide network)
and process name is the name of the process with the deployed variables visible in the Distributed System Manager on the gateway machine.
NOTE the single quotes around the process name; they are required.
The variable name is in the first ("A") column, so in Excel, I could do this for line 2 with the formula =CONCATENATE("\\machine\'process name'\",A2)
Once the formula worked on line 2, I could copy it into all the other lines.
    Save the CSV file.
Import the CSV into the remote library to create the variables.
Note: at this point, if you attempt to deploy the variables, it will fail. The aliases are not quite set properly yet.
Open the properties for the first imported variable.
There is probably an error message at the bottom saying the alias is invalid.
In the alias section, you'll see it is set to "Project Variable" with the network path from step 4.
Change the setting to "PSP URL" with the same path and the error message should disappear.
Close the properties box, save the library, and then export the variables to a new CSV file.
Open the new CSV file in Excel, and scroll sideways to the NetworkrojectBound field.
You'll notice it is False for the first variable, and true for the rest. Set the field FALSE for all lines in the spreadsheet.
Scroll sideways... you'll notice there are two new columns between NetworkrojectPath and Network:UseBinding
The first one is NetworkingleWriter; it should already be FALSE for all lines.
The second one is Network:URL. That needs to be set equal to the value for each line of NetworkrojectPath.
You can accomplish this with a formula like in step 4. In Excel it was =U2 for line 2, and then cut and paste into all lines below it.
There is a third new field, Path, which should already be set to the location of the variable library. You don't need to do anything with it.
    Save the edited CSV file.
Go back to the remote library, and import variables from the just-edited remote library CSV file.
Once you have imported them and the Multiple Variable Editor opens, click on done.
You should now be able to deploy the remote variable library without error. (Make sure to open the Distributed System Manager and start the local variable engine. It took me a few failures before I realized I had to do that before attempting a deployment).
Voila! You now have a "remote" library of shared variables that references all the shared variables on the master machine, and which should be deployable on other machines with very little difficulty.
It actually took longer to write out the process here than to perform these steps once I figured it out.

  • Migrating a project from Flex 4.1 to 4.6

    Hello all,

  • Technology migration and Project setup quick advice

I'm working with a JDeveloper 10g Application Web application that uses the following technologies:
    JSF
    Oracle ADF
    Facelets
    Hibernate
Bear with me, I'm fairly new to ADF and Jdeveloper. What is the best way to make a new project for this and migrate these technologies to current versions?
    Current Work:
I have backed up the original project, but thought it would be best to start with a clean slate.
    1. I made a new Fusion Web Application and moved all of the source and resources over.
    2. I updated my old web.xml file to use trinidad and moved faces-config.xml to new project
    3. I edited the project properties so that the appropriate Libraries were included
    4. Then I moved other (jars) libraries over individually until all of the deps worked out
    5. Modified the adf imports in .java files to match the new trinidad paths
    End Goals:
    1. Edit .xhtml facelet files, easily drag/drop ADF components into them
    2. Not have some of my javascript show up as unreachable (mostly those in onclicks)
    3. Have the smoothest development process possible
    4. You tell me
    5. Use best practices and slowly eliminate deprecated calls
    6. Possibly fix PathSet class that is no longer found in trinidad
    Edited by: user12181728 on Nov 9, 2009 11:49 AM

That seems to break facelets, not remove any old libraries, tags libs are not updated, java imports to faces still have to be changed, web.xml isn't updated for trinidad, and there is still no support for ADF drag and drop into facelet xhtmls. I might be over complicating the problem, but if that's the best way to go about it I would be glad to do that.
On a side note, is facelets still good practice? If not is there any easy way to convert it to something else.

  • Migrate a project from BPM Studio to enterprise server

    Hi
can anyone can help me and explain me how to migrate or deploy a project from BPM studio to the BPM enterprise server????????
    thanks

From studio, right click on the project, and go to export. This will give you a .exp file which contains all the information relating to the project.
Assuming you have correctly installed Enterprise, just open up the process administrator, go to projects, select deploy, and browse to the location of your .exp file.
    Its that easy!

  • Migrating Dynpro Projects to DCs

    Hi,
Asume that we've created lots Dynpro projects before NWDI. Now we've configured NWDI for general usage and we want to migrate our Dynpro Projects into DCs under NWDI.
    1. Which one is preferred? NWDI or JDI?
    2. Is it feasible to create a DC and move all the Applications and Components under it, so all projects are collected under a single DC? Or we must prefer to create seperate DCs for each Project?
    Which approach is best?

I just opened a very big project which I started in C06 in CC. I was shocked when I realised that the color of my marks changed. I thought it will stay the same whatever version I use to open the project... How can I get them back or migrate them?
    thanks!

Have you tried syncing your preferences and presets to your cloud account?  If not, go into the previous version of PP where you have your presets, under the "Premiere Pro" menu on a Mac (not sure where on Windows), the third menu item down (should be your Adobe CC account if you're logged in) allows you to sync all of your settings with the Cloud.  Perform this sync, close PP and open PP2014.  Sync your settings again and they should all appear in PP CC 2014.
