Migration into CC&B v2.3.1, MDM v2.0.1 and QM v1.6.1
Hi, I have recently joined a project team and will be repsonsible for migration of customer and technical data from mulitple legacy systems into:
CC&B v2.3.1
MDM v2.0.1
QM v1.6.1
All I am new to Orcale and looking for instructions on how to download the migration best practices and any documentation to help me work out how I will load data into these systems.
I have heard of a tool called ConversionMapper which can be used for CC&B but dont know if it would be easier to complete the objetc mappings manually - does anyone have any advice?
Also I'm currently not aware of any solution for migration directly into MDM - has anyone done this before as replication from CC&B will only get us so far.

In MDM 2.0.1 Oracle introduced new set of services for data synchronisation. You can find a description of these service
in the MDM_Configuration_Guide in Chapter 15.
I don't know if there are special tools available to migrate form legacy systems to MDM.
From my point of view you have to create a set of XIA Inbound services to create all the necessary master data in you system.
Advantage of this solution is, that you can also use this services to synchronize you system later in production mode.

Migration of WDJ Connecting MDM5.5 to MDM 7.1
Hello Experts,
Currenlty we are migrating WDJ and a EJB created for webservice connecting to MDM from 7.0 to 7.3. Out MDM was 5.5 the new MDM is 7.1.
I could migrate WDJ code successfully and deployed as well. We have installed MDM_JAVA_API and also imported as SC in NWDI track.
WDJ application is to perform test connection of the given MDM server details. But we are facing a issue called "Error while trying to invoke the method com.sap.mdm.session.NetWeaverMdmDestinationProperties.getServerName() of an object loaded from local variable 'destination'"
Since this is a migrated code we have not used any MDM destination in the code. But just for testing i created a MDM destination and its test is success.
Also i creating portal system with MDM server details and when we test the system connection test it throws the same error ""Error while trying to invoke the method com.sap.mdm.session.NetWeaverMdmDestinationProperties.getServerName() of an object loaded from local variable 'destination'".
Our portal vesion is NW7.3 with SP7.

GRC53 Rule Set Migrated into GRC10
Gurus, has anyone encountered the following situation. We migrated our 53 rule set into GRC 10 using the Migration Tool. On the surface all of the rule objects seem to move across as they should. We then began to run our risk reports. We noticed that for the same user, in the same backend ECC system, we get varying results from our 53 Rule Set which is in our GRC10 system vs the 5.3 Rule Set executed from our old 5.3 system. We see more violations returned from our old 5.3 system; entire risks are not reported from the GRC10 system.
Consequently, I began reviewing the functions (actions/permissions). I picked a specific risk that was returned by the 5.3 system and reviewed it, line by line - comparing the 53 Rule Set in GRC10 against the 53 Rule Set in the 5.3 system. Everything lined up, with the exception of the activity values. In the 53 Rule Set that was migrated into GRC10 the activity values are single digits (1,2,5, etc) where as in the 5.3 System the activates are two digits (01, 02, 05, etc), Since the values are mainatined in SAP as double digits, could this be causing this? I would hope this is not the culprit, but I am unsure where else to turn.
I will say for those risks that were returned in the results, the activities in those functions were single digits as well.Hi Penn,
Can you check if your default SoD risk level is "Critical" and hence all the conflicts are not being thrown in 10.0
There is an SAP Note 1632864 where you need to maintain parameter 1024 and se tthe default risk level to High. Since there is no option of All in 10.0 similar to 5.3

So, what are the best settings to record in using Canon HD Vixia HG20 for easy migration into iMovee'11 v.9.0.9?
It would be most helpful to list what the best possible settings are.
frame rate?
format? FXP?I suggest filming in 30P with this camera. That should be the MXP setting.
You could also use 30i which would be the FXP setting.
You will get the best results in iMovie by shooting progressive. -

Anyway, I am not a programmer myself, but here my understanding from what my developer told me:
you will need basically one progremme to clean the data and consolidated multiple xls into 1 upload file.
the second programme is to effectively upload the data. There are many BAPI's available, depends on what you need to upload, structures, docs, roles etc... Some BAPI's are create, some change. A list (not comprehensive) is in OSS# 882484. They normally start with BAPI_BUS21* (in sa38).

Content Migration into the Portal Environment
We have a handbook of more than 1200 pages which have to be migrated into the portal environment.
These pages after migrating should be able to be edited while in the editor.
Can anyone direct me how to achieve that. I really appreciate your response. Please let me know if any information is needed.

Automatic Migration into a Q environment
Our company has a D,Q,P environment. We migrate to production on a weekly basis. Our company is thinking about automating the migration into the Q environment - so 2 hours after release, the migration has gone from D to Q irrespective of any testing. There is no status change or action by the developer - it just goes. These seems to destroy the purpose of a Q environment to me - it has now become a D environment. Can someone share best practice regarding the operation of a Q environment.

i have experience of data migration into SAP via LSMW, BDC and Custom upload programs.
However i do not have the same experience with SAP Sourcing.
Do SAP run a course for this?

In e Sourcing also you can follow the same 3 environment scenario (Development, Quality and Production and additional cutover system if needed) based on SAP project management methodology. This is very similar to the multiple client scenario you have in case of SAP ECC.Here the concept is called multitenancy wherein multiple instances of e sourcing can be deployed in a single installation each having seperate database cluster. I would suggest you to look up multitenancy on forum for reference.
I dont think there are seperate tools for system rollbacks but database back up can always be taken.Databse rollback would allow you to restore the data to previous date. Apart from that server backup is always an option though used very sparingly. Database backup has served me well in all my deployments so far.
PI for integration is a good option. Apart from that standard ECC integration package is provided with SAP with proper checks maintained to avoid any data corruption/ data loss issues.

A Customer Implementation cannot be migrated into a SAP implementation

I am writing badi implementation to add a field in the customer master transaction screen(xd03). when i try to activate the badi implementation, it is giving a messge in the a information window saying that "<b> A Customer Implementation cannot be migrated into a SAP implementation</b>" Can anybody suggest what exactly is that? How to resolve it? and the BADI implementation is not activated.

Go to Transaction SPRO à Logistics General à Business Partner à Customers à Control à Adoption of Customers own Master Data fields à Prepare Modification à Free enhancement of Customer Master Record

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version (CC2014) and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file>open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?
I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anywayOn Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

After updating to iOS 5 today, i was able to get my iphone working with virtually no problem. The issue i am having is that after i finished with my phone, i tryied to do the same with my ipad. Everytime it is plugged into itunes, it keeps saying it needs to restore over and over again. I have done this about 20 times today and have lost it. I can't sync anything with it, especially my music or calendars. Anyone know of a solution?

Hi. After loading a picture into Photoshop some of the menu tools are greyed out and I cannot use the keyboard short cuts, for instance I cannot use Ctrl + T for free transform, how do I resolve this problem. In addition the tool Icons are so small I have to get close to the screen to see them, is there anyway the Icons can be made bigger without reducing the resolution of the screen.

DerekAre you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger. -
Is Acrobat Pro right for us. We have an Employee Handbook that needs editing. Some is current pdf, some from an older version. Want to get all into one handbook, have the table of contents automatically adjust and link to specific pages from the ToC.
You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

now: the way unix works, and macos (which uses unix underneath) the files and folders work like a hierarchy.
the start of that tree is /
so, if you were to do:
cd /
(cd means change directory)
it will bring you at the highest branch of the file system.
cd /Users
will bring you to where all the users are.
to see whats in /Users you can use your friend ls command
ls means list files/directories
so:
cd /Users
ls -la
(the -la here means show all (even hidden) and long format (very verbose)) this flag is very optional.
you will see
fred
user2
for example.
if you want to see the desktop of user2 you would change directory to it then list the files.
for example:
cd /Users/user2/Desktop
Note that the files and directory are case sensitive, so, desktop is NOT the same as Desktop, or DESKTOP
ls -la
you should then be able to see everything in users2 desktop
you could have done as well the same thing in smaller steps, for example:
cd /
cd Users
cd user2
cd Desktop
this is the equivalent of cd /Users/user2/Desktop
So, for your file, i don't know where it was, but know that if you log in as user2, it will directly put you in
/Users/user2
which most likely the file you had created from the other user was in /Users/user1
if you copied all the files from /Users/original_user to /Users/secondUser
most likely yes, all your mail, bookmarks etc would be copied over.
so in your case.
sudo chown -R seconduser:staff /Users/secondUser
should work
Remember that if you start a path with the character / it means start from the root of the file system, at the highest top you can ever get.
so
cd /Users/fred
is not the same as
cd Users/fred
unless you were in / already
i know it may be confusing at first but it's actually very logical if you play with it.
to simplify, think of it that / means C:\ on windows
you can't go any higher than C:\ (in a way)
if you're unsure which directory you're currently in, you can always type:
pwd
it will tell you where you are.
for example:
cd /
pwd
this shows /
cd Users
pwd
this now shows /Users
cd /System/Library
pwd will show /System/Library
cd /
cd /Users
cd fred
cd Library
pwd will show /Users/fred/Library
unix can look very scary but it's actually vital and very necessary to do tasks sometimes that would take for ever to do via the windows. This is good learning.
so for the myfile you had created, i can't tell you where it is, at the time you created, if you can do a pwd command you'll know the path,
ls -la (this shows all the files where you are)
if you see myfile in the list
do a pwd
whatever is return, the real location of the file would be:
whatever pwd returned / myfile
I hope that makes sense.
