Migration using PCD with impact?
Dear colleagues,
I´m currently planning my customer´s upgrade from CUCM 8.5.1 to 10.5.1 using PCD.
As PCD reads the entire CUCM database, my question is if we would have any impact in the current cluster services during the migration process to a new cluster using PCD.

No, but obviously that consumes resources, depending on how much load your servers already have, you might want to do this after-hours.

Customer has a cluster with a publisher and 7 subscribers. Infrastructure is a mix of 6 spec-based VM servers and 2 MCS servers. I am considering using PCD, but I have the following questions:
With the mix of virtual and MCS servers, do I need to do a migration vice an upgrade?
If I do the migration, does this essentially double the virtual real estate required until the migration is complete and I can delete the 8.6 servers?
Any other gotchas that I should be aware of? This will be my first PCD upgrade/migration.

Nathan RichiePCD will install and push the info one server at a time, you can either keep the same IP addressing and hostname, or change it. If you're going to keep the same, you need to build a separate network with ALL the services you have in production and make sure you do not cause a conflict by separating the networks.
If you have the CAR DB at full capacity, delete the records to avoid timing out.
And as Aman said, 10.x and above are ONLY supported over ESXi, no baremetal support. -
User State Migration using SMP with config manager 2012 R2
Hi ,
I have SMP at primary site and need to migrate XP and 7 machines using this SMP (using USMT),
what are the steps do i need to define in TS so that usmt can use State migration point for user setting\data backup?
Another challenge i see it with XP since we are deciding to take 2 phase approach, that means we will backup data using 1 TS (3 step TS) and then restore data as part of another TS that will install windows 8.1 also with user state restore.
Any pointers if we need to define anything special in TS (migration store etc.) or since its SMP, TS should able to take care of finding it automatically and backup\restore user state?
We have MDT based TS, just wondering if we need to define anything inside CS.ini file related to SMP?

Error while installing cucm 10.5.2 at migration using pcd

Can you check the output of following on the Publisher
utils system upgrade status
If there is any task running there, you can try
utils system upgrade cancel
and try again. I have come across cases where a Publisher reboot has fixed such issue.

DB Upgrade+Migrate from 10.1 to 11.2 using IMPDP with network_link param

I would like to upgrade and migrate my 10.1.0.5 DB on old server to 11.2.0.2 on new server.
Here is the background info:
Old server:
OS : Redhat Linux AS 2.1
DB Version : 10.1.0.5 (32 bit)
No RAC
New Server:
OS : OEL 5.5
DB Version : 11.2.0.2
RAC

What I have done so far:
1. Create new clustered 11Gr2 DB on new server.
2. Pre-create tablespaces on new DB.
3. Migrate 10.1.0.5 to 11.2.0.2 using IMPDP.

5. Check SYS's invalid objects, e.g. DBA_OUTLINE_HINTS, after tracing the reason, find outln.ol$hints is replaced by 10.1.0.5 version. I think it is due to the IMPDP's "TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=replace" parameter.
Others invalid objects like WMSYS.WM$ENV_VARS, also replaced by old version.
What should I do now?
Do I need to run upgrade script after DB migration using IMPDP?
Is the migration procedure correct?

It looks like you've messed up the Non User (Oracle default user) data and/or metadata i.e sys, system, wksys.
How many non Oracle default user do you have? and how big is the database? If you're using this method I'm assuming the data is not really big.
I personally will not do full export/ import across different version, its better to just export the non default Oracle user schema as you might ended up messed up the sys objects, etc
What you might do is
- drop the 11g database and start from beginning again but exclude Oracle default user e.g sys,system, etc
- or try run catupgrd.sql script (this will drop and recreate the objects), -this may or may not be fixing your invalid components

The one of the possible reasons for this is due to lack of H/W.
Increase your RAM size to atleast 2GB and utilise the same while you are installing ECC in database parameters step..
If the issue is with H/W, then this should fix the issue.

How do I use LSMW with a bespoke dataload program?
Hello data migration gurus, I need your help.
I need to migrate data from a legacy system into a suite of bespoke functionality we've written within SAP CRM. We are planning to write a program to perform the load. However we would like such a program to be reusable, so it makes sense to keep the data load separate from the data formatting, which may vary between customers.
The obvious answer is to use LSMW for the data formatting, calling our load program as the last step. However in LSMW you can only choose from a list of standard dataload programs. Does anyone know how to use LSMW with a bespoke program? It looks like transaction SXDA might be involved, but it isn't too clear. If anyone has done this kind of thing elsewhere, advice would be much appreciated!
Obviously as an alternative we could just write a separate program to format the data - it would just be a lot better if we could use LSMW.No longer required.

Just migrated using time machine from MacBook Pro to older Macbook. iPhoto 9.4.3 won't open. Tried reinstall - no change. (Mac OS X 10.7.5)
Did you migrate the app from Time Machine? Reinstall it.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
The reference to NovaMedia is that there is the remanant of an older app in there somewhere that won't run on 10.7

We are planning to implement oracle RAC .

Using XA with Oracle ERP application

We have two Tuxedo Domains that we need to establish global transaction:
First Domain - Tuxedo 6.4 with Oracle 8.0.6 database.
Second Domain - Tuxedo 6.4 with Oracle ERP application (Oracel version 8.0.5)
A Client that calls a Tuxedo server in the first domain this service doing some work
on the database and then calls another service in the second domain (using Domain
connection).
The service in the second Domain activate a Oracle API (package) from the ERP application.
The Rollback works but we problem with the commit. We recieve the following Oracle
Error - ORA-06574: Function "VIEW_ALL" references package state can not execute remotly.

Using jfreechart with oracle forms 11g
Hi everybody,
I'm using jfreechart with oracle forms 11g to continue having graphs in my application since i'm migrating from forms 6i. I've already got it working and it's great. Just have one problem left. I don't know how to change the axis labels. In Bar charts, it comes with "Values" in y axis and "Category" in x axis by default. I wanted to change that or make it dissapear. Anyone knows how to?I've never used the jFreeChart, but according to their website you can use the "setLabel" method to set the label for an axis. Check out Axis (JFreeChart Class Library) for more information.

IBM DB2 to Oracle Database Migration Using SQL Developer

We are doing migration of the whole database from IBM DB2 8.2 which is running in WINDOWS to Oracle 11g Database in LINUX.
As part of pre-requisites we have installed the Oracle SQL Developer 4.0.1 (4.0.1.14.48) in Linux Server with JDK 1.7. Also Established a connection with Oracle Database.
Questions:
1) How can we enable the Third Party Database Connectivity in SQL Developer?
I have copied the files db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar from the IBM DB2 (Windows) to Oracle (Linux)
2) Will these JAR files are universal drivers? will these jar files will support in Linux platform?
3) I got a DB2 full privileged schema name "assistdba", Shall i create a new user with the same name "assistdba" in the Oracle Database & grant DBA Privillege? (This is for Repository Creation)
4) We have around 35GB of data in DB2, shall i proceed with ONLINE CAPTURE during the migration?
5) Do you have any approx. estimation of Time to migrate a 35 GB of data?
6) In-case of any issue during the migration activity, shall i get an support from Oracle Team (We have a Valid Support ID)?
7) What are all the necessary Test Cases to confirm the status of VALID Migration?
Request you to share the relevant metalink documents!!!
Kindly guide me in-order to go-ahead with the successful migration.

We have seen only "Missing" in the chart, also we couldn't have any option to trace it in Log file.
Only after the status is VALID, we can proceed with the Translation & Migration PHASE.

Oracle Application Hardware Migration using Acronis
Hi,
I’m an Oracle Applications DBA and would really appreciate some other DBA input on the following question.
I have a customer that uses Acronis to backup,restore and image Oracle Applications. Their current instance (11.5.6) is running on really old kit. As a test the windows guys have restored oracle Apps onto a brand new server and started the services. This has worked, which is to be expected (that’s what Acronis does).
My question is “Does Oracle support this method of hardware migration using Acronis”. My understanding is that for hw migration either autoconfig or export+import were the only Supported options.
I know that 11.5.6 is unsupported and come to mention it so is their OS and the fact that they use images as clones. This aside I would be interested in other opinions on weather Acronis is strictly for restoring/imaging a duff system or in fact weather it would be supported by Oracle for Hardware migration. ( With some reasoning please).
I have checked metalink with only one hit (643276.992) but this does not directly answer my question

JamesYes you will be able to do that (migrate/upgrade your 10g Forms & Reports applications to 11g Forms & Reports) and deploy on Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g.
Note that FMW 11g release having Forms & Reports is not yet out. I am not sure about the exact time frame but it is expected to be out sometime this calendar year.

thanks in advanceI'm working with SVN and NWDI also on separate projects and it depends... if you are working in small team (less than 10 peoples) and there are no release managers but only one man who decide when the upload to production system can be done than I thin it is better to use svn. NDWI is better for big companies and many programmers, because you do your release when it is ready and release manager decides when to make a deploy on a production system. We have used CVS before, but we migrate it to SVN, it's better with it.
Storing dc on svn is a little tricky. But if you do it once you will used to it. You must not store any directories that are generated by web dynpro because they usually gets you a lot of conflicts.
In SVN you must store the main folder of dc's and all subfolders with your projects.
it will look like this: .\<name>\DCs\<company>\<project path>\_comp
exmpl: 0\DCs\sap.com\ess\cat\_comp
One of the problems using svn with development components is that you must download your sources in an exact location (like .dtc in 7.0 and <workspace_name>.jdt in 7.1 ...I'm not sure about jdt extension)
If you store a web dynpro projects than you must ignore following folders:
bin, gen*. This folders are auto generated by web dynpro. And if you put them in the repository and commit them every time you will have conflicts all the time when somebody try's to update the project.
If you store different project(resource, portal application, etc...), folders are not the same, except bin folder (or the folder that you set for class file generation) you must always ignore it, because it is not needed in svn. I'm currently working with 7.0 and these are the folders that I have seen. I don't have 7.1 installed now, but I remember that there were other folder that are auto generated too and must be ignored.
When download projects from svn for the first time, you must go through all of them and repair structure and class path, then rebuild them. They will generate all the necessery files and you can start working.
And another thing... if you want to work with svn it is better to understand what is the meta information that sap files contains, because if there is a need of merging some files someone must know what he is doing. It is not so complex, but if you don't merge some files correctly then you can receive an errors in eclipse.
