Minesweeper Null Error

Question

This is the portion of my main code, in a class called MinesweeperGame, the error I'm having is I get a NullPointException at the line below
void newGame(int width, int height, int mines)
          Cell[][] field = new Cell[width][height];
          isGameOn = true;
          for(int i = 0; i < width; i++)
               for(int j = 0; j < height; j++)
                                //THE LINE BELOW
                    field[i][j].mark = false;
                    field[i][j].mine = false;
                    field[i][j].uncover = false;
          }The next portion is the MinesweeperConsole code, it is in a combined error with the error above
game.newGame(width, height, mines);When I compile it cannot get past those two lines, now i realize that an array is all null when it is first assigned, but i have no idea how to change an object array value :(
(by the way Cell is another class I have)
Hopefully that is enough to get a response, I'm really new to programming so I wouldnt be surprised if its too broken to give a proper answer :P

Cell[][] field = new Cell[width][height];This code only creates the array. It does not create any Cell objects and place them into the array. You need to loop over your array and create Cell objects.
field[x][y] = new Cell();
