Missing Advanced Dialog button

Somehow the "Advanced Dialog" button is missing from the Photo Downloader box of my Elements 8. Does anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it? Thanks.

As mentioned yestda, i deleted and re-installed the Element 8 on my computer. It went very smoothly, no problem whatsoever. Then i tried everything you mentioned in your emails. Nothing helped. The 'Advanced" option did not show up at all in the Preferences box, nor on the Downleader box. I can't think of anything else to try other than call the Tech support of Adobe, unless you or someone else can suggest something else to try. I am willing to try anything. Thanks a lot for everyone's help.

Does "'Show APD Dialog (Advanced)" appear as an option in that drop-down list, as shown here:

If it doesn't, then that's an additional indication that your PSE is getting confused about the display height. (When the height is less than 768, PSE won't show the Advanced option in the drop-down box.) Whether that's a bug in PSE or a problem on your computer, who knows.

Missing Advanced Dialog Button in Photo Downloader

I am running elements on an HP ENVY 14 Windows 7 laptop. The Advanced Dialog button does not appear as an option when I download from my camera. I understand it may be designed this way to prevent the option from running on smaller displays. My display is set up at 1366x768 which is the maximun available on this display. Is there a configuration option I can change to use the advanced dialog feature?

Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE9 requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t.
Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for laptops and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE9 requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality.

Missing advanced dialog box in photoshop elements 9

I am hoping someone out there can help. I have a missing advanced dialog box on my photoshop downloader page. I have photoshop elements 9. I saw that changing the screen resolution can sometime help this, however it does not in my case, I've tried all available. I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop and resolution is set at 1366 X 768. My computer was preloaded with photoshop elements 8. I can see the advanced dialog box in version 8. However, it is not in version 9. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks for your help.

Check your screen resolution settings for vista.
I believe the screen resolution needs to be at least 1024 x 768 for the camera raw dialog to show in pse 8.
For example, if instead of running VirtualBox full screen, your running it in windowed or seamless mode and made the window smaller by dragging on the corner, that would automatically lessen the screen resolution in vista.

Advanced Dialog button not showing during "Get photos from camera or card"

Based on previous threads, I have double checked my screen resolution (currently set at 1920x1080) and uninstalled/reinstalled PSE 8. I run on Windows 7. Has anyone has success getting the Advanced Dialog button to appear?

A little experimentation shows that your Windows display text-size setting (DPI, dots-per-inch) is set too large, probably 150%. When I set my display to 1920 x 1080, I can set the text size to as large as 140%, but any larger and the Advanced Dialog button won't show. To change the text size, right-click the Windows desktop, select Personalize, Display, Set Custom Text Size (DPI), and then enter a different value.
PSE 8 has an undocumented "feature" that disables the Advanced Dialog when it won't fit on the screen. This commonly occurs on netbooks with display heights less than 768, but it appears to happen also when the combination of display resolution and DPI make the dialog too big to fit. Lazy programming on the part of Adobe.

Advanced Dialog button on Parameter Panel?

I was reading the pdf version of the online help file dated 5/16/11. The bottom of page 70 and page 471 discusses an Advanced Dialog button on the parameter panel. I opened a report that has dynamic cascading prompts, but did not see this button. I'm hoping someone can tell me where this button is or what options on the create parameter field need to be selected to enable this button.

Oops Don, yes, I am testing CR2011. I'm sorry for not remembering to put that in the message.
It caught my attention because it wasn't a feature that I was familiar with.
At least now you can let the technical writers know that there is at least 1 person that actually reads the user guides - LOL

Missing Joing Kerberos Button...

Just in case this happens to you...
Binding Mac OS X Server 10.4.x to Active Directory or Open Directory
(for the purposes of joining an AD or OD Kerberos Realm)
If you go through the steps and get to the point where you've chosen "connected to a directory system" and you have no "join kerberos" button...
1. Demote to standalone, save, quit Server Admin
2. Remove, re-add LDAP or AD configurations in Directory Access.
3. Obviously make sure your DNS is set to that which is able to resolve the necessary servers, including the one you're on.
4. Set up Server (server admin) as connected-to (in the case of AD) or OD Master (in the case of OD, quickly follow this with "connected-to" once the change is complete).
5. Click "change" when prompted for changing the role. Do NOT click save.
6. Click Join kerberos. You should get your kerberos realm filled in the drop-down. Use your delegate admin (provided from the OD or AD KDC) to authenticate.
The computer will still have the join kerberos button available in the meantime. Don't click it. You should be joined. Check your /Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos file to examine your realms.
*If you now bind a client to your new service principle, you should be able to log-in, or request any other kerberized service. Examine your kerberos tickets using klist or /System/Library/CoreServices/Kerberos to make sure they are there.
And..when in doubt, use sso_util to join. The GUI just gets weirded out sometimes..have fun.

Advanced Dialog in Elements 9 Organizer

I just downloaded Photoshop Elements 9 and am trying to import photos into the Organizer. In the Photo Downloader window, the Advanced Dialog button is missing. This is an option that I desperately need, as I upload photos from many dates and events at once and would like to organize them accordingly. Any thoughts? Should I attempt to uninstall and reinstall the program?

This is a known problem for lower screen resolutions.

Help- Elements 9 "Does not show Advanced dialog" for downloading

Hi, I'm fairly new to elements and have gone through my "Dummies Book" and yesterday received my Elements 9 book by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski. My problem is when I'm attempting to download 5 new pictures from a card that still has 700 on it - The download organizer does NOT show the "Advanced Dialog button" on the bottom-left corner of the dialog box which as Kelby and Kloskowski indicate, would allow me to select only the 5 new pictures that I am attempting to download.
Can anyone assist? Do you have any recommendations? It is clearly described (even with pictures) in the Scott Kelby book; however, my screen does not list the advanced dialog button.

Bob, It just seems that using windows to import into a file and then
importing from Files and Folders is a workaround to not being able to bring
up the Advanced Dialog Button. I do appreciate and thank you for this
suggestion!
Overall, I'm disappointed in the Photoshop Elements 9 program. It appears
from reading this forum, that there are many similar difficulties with the
Advanced Dialog Button and other similar programming elements that have
perpetuated from Elements 8.

Photo Downloader advanced dialog not displayed completely

I use PSE10 and would use this application during traveling on a laptop (Compaq Presario C700). The Adobe website shows as a requirement
Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
1024x576 display resolution
The laptop I'm using fullfills these requirements, the maximal display resolution is 1280 x 800 pixel
When I start the photo downloader to import images from my digital cameras memory card, the Elements Organizer Photo Downloader dialog appears as expected. Then I switch to Advanced Dialog to select only the required image files. But I can't download the images, as the buttons are not visilble, they are below the visible area of my display. The dialog has a size of 976 x 830 pixel (checked on a differenc computer) and can not be resized to a smaller hight. So the button "get media" can not be pressed to start the download.
I checked for updates to see if I miss some bugfixes, but I'm told that no updates are available
How can I use the Advanced Dialog of Photo Downloader from Photoshop Elements 10 to select the images I want to transfer to my computer?

Crystal Report - Parameter issue (advanced dialog box)

In our wpf .net application we view the crystal report, the report prompts for entering 2 parameter values i.e 2 dates and inturn these parameters will be used to generate the crystal report.
The parameter panel on the left has a button (show advanced dialog box). This button should again invoke the same parameter prompt dialog box, so that the user can modify these parameters and the report can be regenerated.
Issue is that when I click on the the button, this generates a null reference exception in the code. The call stack is -

Please note, I used the .net reflector to debug the crystal report dll , the isDCP method looks like -

Looks like the attributes value is null.
Please let me know your comments. Am I missing something while getting the report in the frontend.
I use crystal reports 2008 sp 2 (also note that my gac contains different version of crystal reports (cannot remove them - tried it) , with windows server 2003. I use web service with proxy to get the report from the local server.
Note I also tried to create sample application in which I specify the local path to reports source , this works. However when I tried to use webservice, i was getting soap exception.

So you found the Report Design forum, if you looked down one more you would have found the SDK forum, SDK stands for Software Development Kit if you did not know.
Or did you not mention you get the same error when you run this report in CR Designer, if so then you were in the right forum.
Try Service Pack 3 also

Japanese characters in display dialog buttons

I would like to have Japanese characters on the face of display dialog buttons. Is this possible, and if so would someone suggest a method for doing so. Thanks in advance.

Simple really, let say you like to have two buttons あい and いあ .
You need to make two text files, one for each button with the above content (they need to be Unicode text file).
Call them test1.txt and test2.txt, put them on your desktop.
then try this:

To have everything in self-contain script, you have to save the script as application bundle, add the text files to the bundle and refer to their correct path within the bundle.

Suppressing the Missing Fonts Dialog

Hi
Does anyone know how to suppress the Missing Fonts dialog?
There was a topic about this a year ago in which a solution involving kShowMissingFontsCmdBoss was mentioned, but the example code doesn't seem to have any effect for me (in InDesign CS3).

Thanks, but that doesn't quite work. I can either disable the whole dialog or hide the Ok and Cancel buttons. Whichever way, the dialog still appears, and now I can't dismiss it.

Does this NOT error when run? Your target application here is 'Finder' Apple's system file browser and you are giving it Adobe illustrator commands?

IFrame in jQuery Dialog - submit iFrame using dialog button

Hi Everyone,
I know a lot of us are using JQuery modal dialog feature and some of us using iframe strategy to display form or page inside of modal dialog popup. Personally, I am using these features a lot in my app but there is a step where I am a bit stuck.
Here is my situation ( I am sure most of us will be interested in this to be resolved if not yet):
I have a regular page (will call it parent page), on this page I have a button and by clicking on this button I am getting a jquery modal window popup. The button itself is pointed to url: javascript:LinkAssets(); and the script to call modal popup with iFrame in HTML Header of parent page is:

</script> As you see I am calling page 55 from jquery script into iFarme which will be displayed in modal dialog. All described above is working fine, no problems and most of us use it.
My problem is here: my JQuery modal dialog has a "CLOSE" button which allows me to close a modal dialog without any changes and go back to my parent page - which is normal behavior. In my iFarme page (page 55) i have an "apply changes" button, and this button calls a process on page 55 by submitting a value and than it closes the modal dialog. "APPLY Changes" button has pointed to the url: javascript:UpdateRecord(); and page 55 has a script in HTML Header to submit value and close modal dialog:

since my previous solution didn't work I did try another way. I did try to create a hidden item in my iFrame page -> pass a values "APPLY_CHANGES" to this item from my "ADD" button in parent dialog window and make my DML process in my iFrame (page 55) to fire conditionally when hidden item in iFrame page has "APPLY_CHANGES" value. So, I did change my dialog window script with iframe again to include this:
