Missing attachment size in mail 4.3

Hi, when I attach a jpeg to an email, I can see the size of the attachment at the bottom of the window but when I attach a pdf, the 'message size' and 'image size' are both missing. Please does anybody know if this is standard or do I have a problem?

Stuart,
The problem in the earlier version of Mail was that if the Image Size button were used with PDF, to anything other than Actual Size, the PDF was converted to a JPEG and havoc resulted. It was very purposefully removed in later versions of Mail unless true image files that could be downsized as JPEG files were what were attached. I know this because I was one who pointed out the error that could result. The resizing was prevented in the final Version of Mail 2.x, but the Message size Report and Image Size button were not removed when attaching PDF until Mail 3.x and later.
The current behavior is not a bug, and the Message Size was only meant to appear when Image Size button could be used to reduce the size of the files, and thus the entire message.

  • Maximum attachment size for Mail 4.3 and can it be changed?

    Hi,
We are using Exchange 2010 at work and have found via several Mac users, and which I have verified myself, that Mac Mail appears to impose its own maximum attachment size limits, somewhere around 10MB. If I take the exact same message and send it via my PC running Outlook 2007 the message sends correctly.
We have 4 users who reported the same thing so it isn't isolated to one machine. I have confirmed and re-confirmed that our Hub and Edge transports are configured to allow 100MB e-mails. Mac Mail has other ideas.
Is there a way to change this limitation as I can't seem to find anything, via Google and/or searching these groups?
I don't want to go back to Thunderbird or, worse yet, Entourage......

It appears in this case to be a failure on Apples part to develop an application that support MAPI. Hopefully the forthcoming release of Office 2011 will rectify this situation.
As I said I have gone through our setup of 6 exchange servers, covering all the bases.
    For instance,
    get-mailbox <user> | fl MaxSize
    MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    Get-TransportConfig | fl MaxSize
    MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
All receive connectors are configured to 100MB also on our Hub Transports.
Even the fix listed in the links above, related to EWS and changing the IIS settings, which is where the issue seems to be, doesn't seem to work for me. It may be that I have missed something of course so I'll look over those links once more.
Maybe restarting IIS after the changes were made wasn't enough.....
Of course the other fix, since it works perfectly well with Windows machines and Outlook is to do away with our Macs entirely. Boy that would make me happy!!

  • Limit on Attachment Size in Mail

I want to receive mails with a text file attachment (.csv file).  I receive it OK and can view the attachment in the mail if the attachment is just a few lines, but i don't receive the mail at all if the attachment is a little larger.  Is there a limit on the file size of attchments ?
Also, is it possible to save an attchment from an email so that it can be used by another App ?
(I have a spreadsheet app and would like to be able to pick up a .csv file sent to me via email).
    thanks, Keith

Most email services have limits on the size of attachments, they can vary. But from your description, your file doesn't sound like its that big, it should transmit.
For attachments, press and hold the attachment icon, a menu should pop up that includes "open in" where you can open it in any app that is compatible with that file format. I'm not sure a csv file would connect with a spreadsheet app like Numbers, though.

  • Photo attachment size in Mail

    Hi
When I attach photos into a mail, they appear as actual size.
I would like all my attachment photos to appear as icons.
I can then change the size of the photos into an icon but have to change each one individually.
Is there a way to do a defult setting so that when I attach photos, they automatically go in as icons?
    Cheers
    Woodsie

    Folks
This is not an issue, it's a feature. By this I mean it's intended behaviour. Apple have not "fixed it" because as far as they are concerned it's not broken. If you would like the behaviour changed then
    1. Install Mail-Attachments-Iconizer. I see one poster mentions he had issues with it but I've used for years with none.
    2. Always send your messages as Plain text: (Mail -> Preferences -> Composing). This will help with the pic arriving embedded. Though remember, the settings on the recipient's email client is the biggest factor in deciding how the email will display on their machine. Also, remember there's no reason why any other client "should" behave exactly like Eudora.
    3. If you want Mail to be changed there is no point in posting here. This is a User to User forum, and Apple do not promise to read it. So, if you want more options, a new default setting or even new preferences: Contact the developers of Mail:
Mail menu -> Provide Mail Feedback
The more folk that do, the better the chance of things being changed.

  • Reduce Attachment size in Mail on iPad (4.2)

    Greetings:
I have spent a ton of time trying to find out how to do this but only seem to see where people talk about the ability to "select size of photo attachments" yet I cannot figure out how to actually do this.
This is a big deal for me as I mail images all the time and want to set my iPad up so it reduces the size of the image if possible
    Thanks
    Doug

Thanks for the information. I looked for the User Guide on the iPad page in the online store and the link was still to the old PDF file--my first clue was the "orientation" toggle was listed and not the silent switch. After your reply I went back in to search under manuals and found it. I downloaded it to the iBook for easy reference.
By the way, I also noted that some photos I saved from the web directly on my iPad were not able to be resized when I attempted to email them. I don't pretend to understand that <g>

  • Individual attachment size in mail app

I was able to see the size of individual attachments in the old version of mail.
I now only see the total size and the number of attachments.
Does anyone know how to display the size of individual attachments in the new lion mail app?

    bdevoogt wrote:
    CT,
Our company works with photos and some of them are send by email so yes, incoming mail.
I would like to see the size (kb) of the individual attachments.
I only see the total now while in the old version i could see the size of all of them seperate.
    Hope this helps.
I am not sure still - do you mean see the individual sizes within a received message?  I can see that info when I am viewing by icon

    Hi Ben,
    Follow the code below....
Your internal table it_final will have the attachment data. After you got the attachment data do the following
    gc_ret TYPE c VALUE cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
    lt_attachment        TYPE TABLE OF  solisti1 ,
gt_attach TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF solisti1 INITIAL SIZE 0 WITH HEADER LINE,

<before this you have to copy all the fields from your final internal table which should be attached to email to gs_attach>
    For attaching field names
        CONCATENATE gc_ret gs_attach INTO gs_attach.
        gs_attach = gs_attach+1.
        APPEND gs_attach TO gt_attach.
    CLEAR:lt_attachment.
          lt_attachment[] = gt_attach[].
    SORT  lt_attachment .
DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM lt_attachment COMPARING ALL FIELDS.
          CLEAR gs_attach.
          CONCATENATE <field names >
          INTO gs_attach SEPARATED BY gc_tab.
          INSERT gs_attach INTO lt_attachment INDEX 1.

Does Hotmail have an attachment size limit? When i attach something with more than 3mb in the mail it isn't send. It gives a resize option.

Hi. Txs. The problem is that in my pc the limit size is 25mb. But in my ipad the mail only sends files under 3mb.

  • Attachment size - Mail cannot send email attachments over 1.5Mb

Had this issue with Mac mail for well over a year now.
Mac Mail, connected to Exchange server.
Mac Mail cannot send attachments over about 1.5Mb. This does fluctuate, sometimes its as low as 600Kb.
It seems to be related to the internet speed you have, Slower internet connections and attachment size you are able to send goes down, faster speed and it allows bigger attachments to be sent.
Im assuming its some kind of time out issue.
With Windows and Outlook on the same internet connection = NO PROBLEM AT ALL!
This means its not an exchange only problem, its specific to mail and exchange.
I have several friends all switched over to Apple in the last 2 years and ALL having the same issues and despite logging several calls with Apple and trying everything they have suggested still no fix.
I have searched around and it seems lots of people are having similar issues all with no resolution to this.
Please can someone suggest anything new that might resolve this, im happy to try anything!

    @Brooksymj
We had a similar problem - but we had one Mac which had been migrated from and old G5 Tiger to a new Intel iMac Snow Leopard and no problems existed (all size attachments send), so we checked out what was different about that machine's mail.plist preferences.  We spotted some obvious ones that didn't exist on a clean install of Snow Leopard, so added them, which worked for us, as follows...
    1/ get Pref Setter (www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html)
2/ quit Mail and launch Pref Setter
    3/ find com.apple.mail and double-click it
4/ click once on any one of the entries without an expansion triangle
5/ click on Actions and select Add New Array
6/ call the new array DeliveryAccounts (no space)
7/ with DeliveryAccounts highlighted, click Actions and select Add New Dictionary
8/ leave the default name of Item 1
9/ with Item 1 highlighted, click Actions and select Add New Key
10/ call the new key MaxMessageBytes (no spaces)
11/ change MaxMessageBytes class to Integer
12/ set the value to the maximum individual message size permited by your exchange server
    (ours is 50MB = 52428800)
This also worked on my mbp with Lion.
    Hope this works for you!

  • Smartform - PDF attachment through E-mail issue

    Hi,
A custom form and custom program was created to print the Purchase order information through ME21N, 22n and 23n.
It also has E-mail option. when output medium 5(Simple mail) and 7(External send), email will be send to respective mail-id's with the PDF attachment.
I have issue at the time of saving PO which processed with medium 5. when i save A popup appears "Express document update was terminated received from author". Brief message about it is
    "Error Info... 00 671: ABAP/4 processor: COMMIT_IN_POSTING"
In Smartform driver program i am using below function modules to convert OTF into PDF and send through e-mail.
    Function Module: CONVERT_OTF.
    Function Module: SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1.
I am not sure, what i missed out. Can you guys tell is this the correct way to send PDF attachment through E-mail or i missed out any function module for commit.
    Regards,
    Hemanth.

  • Maximum attachment size capable by Contentserver and/or Gateway

    Hi there,
is there a maximum attachment size for up- & downloading attachments to the Contentserver? Are there any known file measurements capable by the Gateway? While playing around with an 100 MB file our Tomcat (we are running the 5.0.2 Portal and Contentserver version) screwed up and needed a restart.
If there are any "best practices" for file measurement it would be nice, if you can provide us with some information. Figuring it out while increasing or decreasing it step-by-step sounds like a hardly painful job to me ;-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards, Martin

  • Email Attachment Size Etiquette

I'm looking for opinions on what is the biggest "polite" email attachment size.
By this I mean.. how big of a file can you send without calling them to make sure they aren't out of the country for a week because your huge attachment will fill their mailbox and reject all incoming mail for the next three days and it's your fault... Oh and it's your most important client... (I swear this hasn't happened.)
I'm thinking it is still around 5MB. What are your thoughts.

    Internally in an enterprise, 5MB
    Externally, 1MB, and usually zipped.
I'd be annoyed if someone was sending me 5MB mails to my iphone over EDGE!
