Missing ATV tabs in iTunes

Since the update, iTunes presents only Summary and Photo tabs; no music, and no TV shows.
I am guessing this is an Apple issue, but wonder meanwhile if anyone else has seen this [there is 1 post], and if so, is there a solution?

On the AppleTV, go to Settings => Computers.
If your computer is set to SYNC then it will have a little chain type icon next to it. If not, then you are only streaming.
If it is showing a computer to sync with (has icon) but it is dark grey it means that computer's iTunes is either closed or it cannot see it.
If you know iTunes is open and you have the icon next to that computer it means there is an issue so click it and it will ask if you want to remove that computer. Say yes, then try to add back (as a syncing computer, not a streaming computer). Get the code again and try again on your computer to enter it.
You only get the tabs if it is set to sync. So make sure on the AppleTV it is listed with the chain link type icon (should be first one listed if you have more than one).

  • Missing "photo" tab in iTunes.

    Hi guys,
I've just about tried everything on the web and I can't believe i can't find any answers!
I have no means of syncing photos from my PC to my iPhone using iTunes because the "Photos" tab does not appear. It has nothing to do with my screen resolution, or my iPhone not being connected properly... its just not there.
There are 8 tabs (from left to right) , namely "Summary", "Info", "Applications", "Ringtones", "Music", "Films", TV Programmes" and lastly "Podcasts".
I tried removing iTunes and reinstalling it but that doesn't work. Anyone with previous experience that has successfully repaired this issue?
I'm using Windows XP by the way.
    HELP!!!!!

Thanks for the info, you're right, it must be the size of the expanded window for itunes. If you can't see the black border around the tabs on the far left and far right side, you can't be sure that all tabs are shown.

  • Missing info tab in itunes 11.1.2  when iphone syncs

    Hello!
After installing on my mac os x mavericks and updating itunes to 11.1.2, when i plugged in my iphone , the info tab is no longer exists. So i cant sync my contacts and mail accounts from iphone to macbook! Please help!
    thanks!

    Hello Wendy,
Apparently, the OS X Mavericks upgrade has eliminated the ability to sync or replace via USB cable calendar and contact data on iPhones and iPads.  It would appear that Apple is mandating the use of iCloud even though many of us prefer or need the USB cable option.  This article from Apple might be of interest.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12117
It would seem that rather a lot of us are disappointed with Apple over this issue.  For some of us, myself included, the nature of our calendar and contact data prohibits the use of iCloud or any other cloud service.  And then there are the issues of privacy, personal choice, and loss of convenienice.
My best advice is that we continue to let Apple know that we are not happy with what appears to be an attempt to force our data into their iCloud while eliminating our choices for syncing.  Personally, I have already advised my colleagues on campus to avoid the Mavericks and iTunes updates.  And I am looking forward to reading the tech blogs as word of the sync changes and restrictions gets around.

  • ITunes on my iPod Touch is missing some tabs

    Can somebody help me?
    I have:
    + iPod Touch 4th Generation 32GB
    + Wi-fi connection
    + iOS5 installed
iTunes on my iPod Touch is missing some tabs. The only tabs that's showing on my iTunes are Podcast, iTunes U, Search and Downloads
Also, whenever I try to load un Podcast tab, it ALWAYS say Your request could not be completed.
    Thank you very much!

Where exactly are the tabs that are showing, are they a list at the bottom of the page and next to it is the "More" option, or are you referring to the options on the More tab? You can move these options between the bottom of the page and the More section.
Is that the problem, or is there something else missing? (Perhaps it would have helped if you had mentioned what is missing). If it's the Apps section you are looking for, it has its own App button on the Home screen.
As for the problem with downloading Podcasts, I would try getting them in iTunes on your computer if you cannot download them via the Touch's Wi-Fi.

  • Missing tabs in iTunes?  Please help!

I have just received a new 80GB iPod and was going thru all the tutorials about how to use it & am now having problems. In the tutorials, it says go to Edit then Preferences to open a settings box with tabs at the top. It shows in the picture to have a tab called iPod, mine doesn't have that. It also says in the summary area when the iPod is attached, there would be a tab for Photos but mine doesn't have that either. What am I doing wrong?
    Dell Dimension 8400   Windows XP

    Hi, layla2052.
It sounds like you may be referencing an out-of-date tutorial because the iPod tab in iTunes Preferences went away with the release of iTunes 7.
Have a look at this Apple Support page for the way to now access your iPod settings and let us know if it helps you set things up.

  • Music files missing? Seems like iTunes bug...

I recently noticed that many of my music files are missing, and that the selection appears to be somewhat random. They are retained in iTunes, but have the ! next to them. So, doing the logical thing, I tried to locate them, and the files themselves are missing, but their iTunes link is preserved.
In an effort to continue to do the logical thing, I then systematically went through my CD library, re-loading all the missing material back into iTunes. This was extremely tedious, but appeared to fix most of the issues (obviously, the ones were the CD case was mysteriously empty were left unfixed). The files played fine at that time. Then I carried the computer upstairs to my home office, where I proceeded to plug it in to do a time machine backup on the newly transferred files.
Now here's where it gets really strange... The time machine backup went swimmingly without hitches, to a relatively new USB 3.0 drive. I then set about organizing the music, so that it would all be in the iTunes music folder (User(me)/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/ directory, the one automatically made by iTunes on installation). Many of the songs linked perfectly, and I didn't have to re-link the songs to their new location, as one might expect. So, I then thought I would sit down to enjoy this new library that I had spent a day bringing up to speed and organizing again. And, low and behold, songs are missing--again. Not just the ones that I couldn't replace, but some of the newly replaced ones. For example, Track 12 of an album might be missing, but the files for Tracks 1-11 and 13+ are all present.
As other people who have experienced this problem previously have noted, there does seem to be a slight preference for songs whose artist and/or title include accented characters, although my detection ability is more limited now, as I have since lost many of these original CDs, and so the songs were not replaced within the library. But, while they account for about 5-10% of my overall library, they accounted for about 50% of the songs missing at the beginning of yesterday's overhaul.
And what makes matters really strange is that when I tried to look up the missing files--which I know myself to have imported yesterday--in the fresh time machine backup I made right after importing all that music, they are all missing.
So, it appears that iTunes is systematically deleting files at random. While I'm tempted to try to put the missing ones back on (fewer are "re-missing" than I was able to replace, so it's a little better), this doesn't exactly seem fruitful, given the fresh deletions.
The original music files were encoded a long time ago, and have been copied and re-copied (and recopied... ad infinitium). It appears that everything that I encoded on the really old system (before iTunes really became popular for this sort of thing) were preserved; however, the issue seems to temporally localize around the time I started using iTunes for most of my music encoding needs (except, of course, for the little issue about files that were imported less than 24 hours ago).
    A few other notes:
    - I did not delete these files accidentally. I'm more careful than that.
    - The files are not there (they're not just hidden--I already checked for this).
    - iTunes has retained the link to where it believes the file should be.
    - The issue appears to have originally arisen quite some time ago, as these files are systemically missing from all backups made by time machine. However, it wasn't all that long ago that I deleted my entire library and started over (about 2 years, so the files should have been natively present on 2 of my macs) by re-importing all the files in my music folder. This newly created library has since become the "master" library that is propigated to all my other computers (although I don't trust iCloud for obvious reasons, given this fiasco--Thanks, Apple...)
    - I have not elected to have iTunes manage my music folder, or automatically copy things to the iTunes music folder when importing (although this is the default destination, so they are imported there, but not duplicated there when imported from elsewhere on the hard drive).
    - I am currently running OS X 10.6.8 on an Intel Mac (yeah, yeah, I'd upgrade the OS, but software that cost more than the computer isn't 10.8--or even 10.7--compatible).
If anyone has any thoughts on how to prevent this issue in the future, I'd really appreciate it. I think the music files themselves are just... gone. But, I would like to be able to have them stick around for a bit when I get around to dedicating another day to trying to import them from their CD.
Does anyone know a piece of third party software that allows you to sync and update iDevices? Hopefully one that doesn't take over my music library and decide to delete things of its own accord?

I was lucky to be able to use a PC, that after trying numerous times actually read the external hdd, I quickly copied all files over to a backup hdd and recovered all files. After that I ended up in contact with Western Digital about the incident and they recommended to completely erase (7-pass erase) of the hdd, which ended up taking over 5 days to do. They gave me no reason as to "Why" it would have happened but if I erase and reformatted of the hdd and the problem reoccurred they recommended to get the unit replaced.
I was lucky to recover all my files.....keep trying on different computers if you can, and copy what you can get hold of. The 7-pass erase will delete pretty much every trace of information on the hdd with no chance of recovery.
So far since the incident its been running ok but I not longer trust the hdd to be stable. Not a simple nor quick process / solution I'm afraid.
    Good luck!
Once you have recovered your files (or as many as you can get hold of) and ready to erase the hdd:
(THIS WILL ERASE ALL YOUR DATA, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE PROCEEDING)
Connect the drive directly to the Mac, open Disk Utility.
Select the drive and click on the "Erase" tab Select the "7-times zeros" to completely erase the drive.
Once the erase have completed format the drive to your selection.

  • Seeing Ipod tabs in Itunes window

My Ipod shows up in the Itunes source panel and I have successfully manually dragged music to the Ipod, but I can't see any of the Ipod command tabs in Itunes. If I click on to Ipod, I get the 'software licence agreement' page. I agree and save, and then.....nothing. Where is the 'summary' tab or the 'music' tab mentione d in the manuals and help?
I would appreciate any help. I might be doing something wrong or missing an action.
If I do diagnostics, I get the same as other posters; ie 'one sync test failed' Where do I go from here?

I have found the answer to my problem in another post. Thanks to whoever

  • Missing Applications Tab

When I log on to iTunes, I am missing the tab for APPLICATIONS. I only have the following tabs: Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos, Info. How do I add the APPLICATIONS tab so I can then transfer the games I've purchased in my library to my ipod touch?

One thing that might help out.
Along with neuroanatomist's post asking sure that you are running os 2.0.
Are you running windows 2000 as it shows in your profile at the bottom of your post?
If so, the minimum system requirements for ipod touch and iphone are win xp sp2 or vista.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes 10.6.1.7: "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." ?

    Fakt:
iTunes 10.6.1.7 Fehlermeldung: "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."

    iTunesLibrary (Damaged).itl
