Missing font in numbers

I created a spreadsheet in numbers on my mac and just entered one number in one cell with the font helvetica.
I then opened the spreadsheet on my ipad with no problems. I then closed the spreadsheet on my ipad and reopened it on my mac.
I then went to a neighboring cell and entered another number in the font calibri and saved the spreadsheet to the cloud.
When I opened the spreadsheet on my ipad I get the "Some changes were made to your spreadsheet" message saying the font calibri is missing.
Of ourse I can open the spreadsheet by clicking on open and the calibri text is converted to helvetica(calibri).
I closed the spreadsheet on the ipad and reopened it on the mac and changed the calibri text to helvetica.
No matter what I do, including deleting the column that the calibri cell was in, I cannot get rid of the spreadsheet details and error message. What can I do to be able to open a spreadsheet without getting the missing font message?
Also, I have a spreadsheet with 10 tabs on it that does the same thing. Is there any way to find out which cells have calibri in them.
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

I have found a little more detail about the problem.
I made another spreadsheet on my imac with the helvetica font in one cell and the charter font in another cell, closed it and then downloaded the spreadsheet from the cloud and opened it. Instead of the "some changes..." message, I got a box saying "Downloading fonts and assets" Then the sheet opened with no further problems or messages.
I tried it with the century font on my mac and got the dreaded "some changes..." message.
It appears to me that some fonts will download and some will not.
However, once the switch is tripped about a missing font, it apparently cannot be reset.

  • How to Change the (Missing) Font in Endnotes

Hello and thanks (again) in advance,
My preflight report showed that I have 170 errors: they are all missing fonts in the numbers of the endnotes.
Some of the Endnotes are in the Times New Roman Font, but for some reason, 170 endnotes are not. This is a font problem with the "number" part of the endnotes -- the text in the endnotes is all Times New Roman.
What I would like to do is to change the font from the missing one (Cambria Regular) to Times New Roman.
The endnotes were imported when I placed this MS-Word document into InDesign.
Here's what I tried, that failed:
    1. Fix the font problem when I opened the file, and InDesign showed missing fonts. (This fixed the fonts -- changed them from Cambria to Times New Roman) for all the text, but did not touch the numbers in the endnotes.
    2. Search and Replace for the number of the Endnote -- the numbers were ignored by the search.
    3. Search and Replace for the number of the Endnote, with the "Include Footnotes" button highlighted
    4. Search and Replace for Cambia Regular text (although I might not have done that correctly.) ... I left the "Find What" box blank, and in the "Find Format" box I selected Cambria Regular. ... Nothing was found.
    5. I deleted one of the numbers -- endnote 202 -- "by hand", and then retyped the number. This did change the font, but it had the bad effect of ruining the endnote numbering system: it made the next endnote (number 203) below it into number "1" and the endnote after that "2"
Also, I wondered if it "broke" the entire endnote system -- If there is some connection between the number that I deleted, and the corresponding superscript number in the text itself.
Here (below) is a screen shot of my pre-flight report.
You can see that some of the numbers in the endnotes,  (for example: 200 and 202) are in the correct font; but endnote numbers 201, 203, 204 are not in Times New Roman.
I am stuck ... Suggestions are welcome and appreciated !
    ZtG

Since ID doesn't really support endnotes, I suspect they were imported as a numbered list, particulary considering the uselectablility and find/change sympotoms you describe. Bullets and numbers in lists aren't "real" characters that can selected.
Find font should probably have done the trick if the numbers were assigned a style in the list definition AND you checked the update styles when changing all box in Find Font, so I'm also going to guess that you either didn't check the box or there is no style assigned to the numbers (and I suppose it's possible they aren't really a list).
The best solution would be, I think, to first verify that they the endnotes are a list, and to assign a character style to the numbers.

  • Missing fonts in iWork documents

My iWork apps keep giving me missing font document warnings when I launch Pages, Keynote and Numbers documents. This is a problem already reported by many other iWork users but I haven't found a satisfactory solution and I'm hoping someone here can help.
When launching an existing Pages document, I get this document warning:
Here's what I see in the Font Chooser. Helvetica has got some new variants like '.Light Oblique'. What the??
But if I quit Pages and then create a new document, I don't get any warnings. The Font Chooser also behaves as usual:
I've validated my fonts, deleted the font cache, repaired permissions in an attempt to fix the problem with no success. What should I do?

I'd like to add perhaps a slightly different perspective to this problem. I'm a graphic designer and use Insider Software's FontAgent Pro to manage all of the fonts on my machine. I use Font Book only to manage the few system fonts that are necessary to run the OS.
I keep the number of activated fonts to a minimum and regularly clean out the font caches to prevent any problems with all of the design apps that I use. I've done this for years and haven't experienced any font-related problems for a long, long time.
When I want to use Helvetica/Neue Helvetica (which is rarely), I use PostScript Type 1 versions of those fonts. I don't want to reinstall the dfont version of Helvetica, because that will create conflicts with the fonts in my commercial work.
Whenever I open or create an iWork document I get the Missing Font error mentioned in this thread. The new version of iWork lets me select a substitute font, but my choice never seems to "stick." Once I close the document and reopen it, the same message reappears. iWork seems to assume that every document must use the dfont version of Helvetica/Helvetica Neue, regardless of what I want.
Why can't I specify what font I'd like to use, and have it become the default for all of the iWork apps? Until Apple fixes this problem the whole suite will have to remain shelfware and I'll keep using Office. I'd prefer to use iWork, but at least Office doesn't insist on nagging me about my font choices.

  • Missing fonts warning when adding pages to a book

I have a book with 13 documents added and 105 total pages. I have 10 master pages set up, and each time I add (or delete) pages to a document, I get warning: "The document <doc>.indd needs to be updated but has missing fonts. It may recompose with a default substitute font and result in inacurate page numbers. Do you want to continue updating numbering?"  If I click OK to continue updating the numbering, sometimes an extra page gets added somewhere else in the document. Preflight Book is not showing any errors and I also tried looking at the preflight panel in each of the 13 documents. Neither says anything about a missing font. How else can I find it? Thanks!

It could be in overset text (though preflight should see that) or in a style not currently in use. Are you sure the priflight profile is looking for missing fonts, bucasue is really does sound like there is substitution ocurring. Also, have you looked in Type > Find Font.
If none of that is fruitful, I'd try exporting each of the documents to .inx or .idml, then opening those and saving as new .indd docs. Add the new docs to a new book and see if you still get errors.

  • Iweb missing font issue

When I open iweb I get a pop up window which tells me that there's a missing font CourierNewPSMT
Could someone tell me how to get rid of it, and it only happens in Freestyle template
I couldn't find CourierNewPSMT font anywhere

    Hi,
I suddenly started getting messages in iWeb that said the Font "ArialMT" is substituted for the missing font "Arial".. But it was only happening on new pages I had created.. Can't say what had changed much on my system for this to occur.. But had me baffled because FontBook HAD Arial and NO ArialMT..
Anyway to cut a long story short.. I didn't want Arial as the font anyway as we're changing over to Verdana.. It didn't matter if I selected all on the webpage and changed it all to Verdana, i'd still get the error message regarding ArialMT and Arial..
So my fix was to navigate to: ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
    1. Copy the file "Domain" somewhere else as a backup (desktop is good)
    2. Right click on the "Domain" file inside ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ and Show Package Contents
Now this is where many people say open index.xml.gz and look for the problem fonts.. Well in my experience index.xml doesn't have any code regarding fonts.. SO another folder caught my attention inside "Domain" called "domain-0B29016B-4545-4DC4-9DDB-74AA1E25AJ34.. If you have this folder it will probably have a different string of letters and numbers to mine..
    3. Go into your "domain-xxx etc" folder and navigate down to the first compressed xml file you can fint.. I had like 30 because I have almost 30 blog type pages in my site (just the way its designed I guess).. Anyway if you uncompress the .xml.gz file you've found and open that in text edit you'll probably be able to find font information in there.
As I had many to have to find and replace on I found it easier, to select all the .gz files and open them all together which mass uncompressed them in their relative locations.. Then I had to go through and delete the original .gz files otherwise iWeb won't save and publish the code changes you make. In otherwords, you need to have ONLY .xml files left over and iWeb will recompress them when you save in iWeb next.. I also used dreamweaver to mass find and replace the code, but textedit can do it one by one.
Hope this helps anyone having this issue..
I know if I went and made a brand new page in iWeb it will get this font issue again on the new page.. So my next task is to find the original template files and change the font instances in it so new pages don't cause headaches..

  • FrameMaker 7.2 - missing fonts

I recently switched from a computer with Windows XP to a new computer with Windows 7. I didn't install the exact fonts that I had on the old computer, but will install them as I need them (I saved them on disc).
In certain tables I have bullets created by \b\t in Numbering format. When I open a document containing a table with those, I get an error-message about missing fonts. This is only when I have linked the table from another document. The table in the document I have linked it IN to looks OK (but I get the error-message). But when I double click on the table and choose Open source, the bullets in the table are now replaced with black "standing rectangles". I also get the error-message about missing fonts when I open the document where the original table is. But it prints right!!
If you couldn't understand my rambling above, here's how it is exactly:
    A) Documents with tables with \b\t, no links to or from: no error message and bullets looks like bullets.
    B) Documents with tables with \b\t, table in linked from another document: error-message and bullets looks like bullets.
    C)  Documents with tables with \b\t, original table to B) above: error-message and bullets looks like rectangles.
    D) Documents with text that uses \b\t: no error-message and bullets looks like bullets.
    E) Documets with text that uses \b\t and the text is linked in from another document: no error-message and the bullet looks like bullets.
    F) The original text to E) above: no error-message and bullets looks like rectangles.
    All these variations prints right...
    I am now wondering this:
    1) Wich font is FM using when it creates these bullets?
    2) Why does it look right (even though I get the error-message) in the document where the table or text is linked into?
As it doesn't help if I click OK when FM asks me if I want to reformat the document (I get the exact same message the next time I open the file) I am wondering how to fix this. Very irritating!!
    Lena

I do have the English FrameMaker, even though I am Swedish. So much easier when asking for help...
For some strange reason I now got a console for the first time (about missing fonts...). Never had it before. It says that Courier is missing and will be replaced by Courier New.
I read the help file and found out how to remove unused fonts (removing all and then taking back the used ones). Still Courier is missing and it will be replaced by Courier New... Is there a way I could search for where FM thinks Courier should be used? I have gong through all the formats used, and all formats uses Futura or Futura Light.
Now something strange happened. The document I worked with above was one where I had a file linked into. So I double-clicked the table and opened the source. I did the same thing with the formats there, and removed all formats and then got back the ones used. Then I saved and updated the linked table. Re-did the format thingy and now it's not just one version of Courier missing, but:
The "Courier Bold" Font is not available.
"Courier New Bold" will be used in this session.
The "Courier" Font is not available.
"Courier New" will be used in this session.
The "Courier Bold" Font is not available.
"Courier New Bold" will be used in this session.
The "Courier" Font is not available.
"Courier New" will be used in this session.
The "Courier" Font is not available.
"Courier New" will be used in this session.
I am stumped. Don't know what to do more...

  • IWorks asking for certain missing fonts

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anybody else was experiencing this issue too: Every time I open a template on any iWork '08 program I get a message saying that "some warnings occurred" and when I review the warnings it's always about some missing fonts. One of the fonts that it looks for is Helvetica Neue. I never had this font installed as far as I know. Is it supposed to be on my system somewhere? I'm running OS 10.4.10 on a G5 PowerPC. I also use Linotype FontExplorer X to manage fonts on my system. I used to use Suitcase Fusion but it was giving me too many issues.
Other missing fonts are for example:
    ArialMT
    ArialNarrow
    ArialNarrow-Italic
    Arial-Black
    AmericanTypewriter
    Baskerville
    Baskerville-Italic
    Copperplate
    Futura-Medium
    Futura-MediumItalic
    GillSans
    GillSans-Bold
    HelveticaNeue
    HelveticaNeue-Italic
    HelveticaNeue-Bold
    HoeflerText-Italic
    HoeflerText-Regular
    MarkerFelt-Thin
So basically what I am asking is this:
    1. Are the missing fonts supposed to be installed on my Mac somewhere? Were they shipped with OS X?
    2. How can I replace them without having to buy them? The Helvetica Neue family is very expensive!
    3. Are these fonts essential to the template's formatting, etc?
    4. Can I replace them with other fonts?
    5. How can I stop the warning message from popping up every time I use a template?
Thank you for any help in advance,
    jenzvan

Yes, I get these messages often, as well. Only I see them most often in Numbers. I would like to be able to disable these silly notices, but there aren't any preference settings to disable much, if anything.

    Hi feaco,
I have a similar issue with a spreadsheet that is mostly used on iOS 7, no iCloud. Since there are other missing  fonts I ignore the issue. Sure would like to turn that warning off.
I think this is an iWork for iOS issue. You may have better luck on that forum.

  • How do I find where a missing font was used?

For an example, download the Property Owner Application form from http://www.atlantahousing.org/housingchoice/landlords/index.cfm?Fuseaction=forms
When opened in LiveCycle Designer, I get a message that Kozuka Gothic Pro-VI M (Regular) is missing. I don't see a way of searching for a font in LiveCycle, so I opened it up in Illustrator, thinking I would get a missing font message ... but I didn't. And when opened in regular Acrobat and looking at the Properties > Fonts list, it doesn't appear there either.
It's not causing any problem that I can see, but I'd like to get rid of it. Or maybe this is a font used by the application for some special symbol? Anyone khow to find it, or what's going on?

    Hi,
I haven't downloaded the form, but if you can open the form in LC Designer then go to the XML Source tab and do a search there for "Kozu". If the font is used, it will definetly show up in the XML Source. Note that while in XML Source you will be able to look up and down and identify the object that contains the font.
If you find it there, amend it for something else like Myriad Pro and see what happens.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Missing fonts in CS4 – how to install?

    Hi all,
Apologies for asking a question that I've seen posted and answered, but I'm wondering if there is a simpler solution than the plug-in suggested.
I have lost a few of the fonts I regularly use. They appear in Font Book and are enabled, but they are not available in InDesign. The missing fonts are available to me in other programs (e.g Word) so they are definitely on the system.
I was given advice to check in Home > Library > Application Support > Adobe > InDesign > Fonts, but there is no folder called "InDesign" within the Adobe folder of that path, so I don't know if that was good advice.
Of course (always the way, isn't it?) I've noticed this problem one week out from my deadline to the printer, so would really appreciate resolving it quickly.
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrew

Well, if your goal is to make the problem go away without
understanding it, thus reducing the liklihood you'll understand the
cause and prevent it from recurring in the future...
"Sometimes they get sleepy" is an attitude that really bothers me at a
deep level. Programs shouldn't break. And when they do, we should make
the effort to understand why they do. And report those problems back
to the manufacturers, who should be given the opportunity to fix
them. Even if we think they won't.
Programs break for reasons. Sometimes complicated and tricky
reasons. Sometimes reasons we can't actually figure out. But sometimes
reasons that we can. And we need to take the effort to figure out
why. Or at least try to a reasonable effort.
It is our moral duty. Otherwise the programmers who author the
software will have no opportunity to fix the problems, and thousands
of user across this green earth will be forced to deal with the same
problems we deal with regularly, for years and years, all because no
one was willing to take the minimal effort to figure out what was
    broken and why.
Don't lie down and say "oh, it just broken again, I accept that i have
to jump through this hoop to fix it periodically." That's just not the
way it should work, and it doesn't have to be that way.

  • Photoshop CC: Missing Fonts on Startup, only a few fonts are displayed as replacement options

I have a Photoshop document which uses some Fonts that I don't have on my Windows PC. When I open the document, I get a Dialog Box called "Missing Fonts", which states:
"Some fonts used in this document are missing. You can sync matching fonts from Typekit, or replace missing fonts with a default or different font used in this document"
This text suggests that I can only replace missing fonts with other fonts already being used in this document. However, I want to replace a missing font with a font that is not yet used in this document. Why can I only replace a missing font with another font already used in the document? For example, I want to replace "Helvetica Neue" with "Liberation Sans", however Liberation Sans is not offered in the Dropdown box, even though it is installed, as it is not yet used in the document. What is the point of only allowing to replace a missing font with a font that is already used in the document, and not with any font installed on the system??
    Thanks,
    best regards,
    Chris

I'm a windows user so I do not know  the Adobe Photoshop environment on the Mac or the versions of Mac OS.  The only suggestion I could make would then be try using Adobe Cleaner to clean off Photoshop then  install Photoshop  Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • Missing fonts in InDesign CS4 - even when 'open' in Suitcase Fusion 3

Hi all, I'm running InDesign CS4 on a Intel Mac Pro (tower), about 4 years old, running OSX Snow Leopard (all updates applied).
Using Suitcase Fusion V3 for font management.
I have a document that previously had no font issues at all.  Now when I open it InDesign throws up a 'Missing font' error.
I have the correct fonts installed and 'open' in Suitcase Fusion.
The font is available in Simpletext and Pages, but not InDesign and Illustrator.
The troublesome font was OK the other day and has been since it was installed.
I've not changed anything that I'm aware of... but now InDesign won't 'see' the font.
In the 'Find Font' dialogue box the 'Path' says it's 'Unkown or missing'.
InDesign can see the other weights in the font family (bold, italic etc) but not regular.  And yet the entire font family is in the same folder on my hard drive.
I've tried deleting all the' Adobe.lst' files.  No Joy.
I've run Font Doctor on the whole font family, its says it's OK.
    I've tried re-installing the font from a back-up.  Nada.
If anyone has any suggestions..... feel free to let rip!
As ever, I await your expertise and unstinting knowledge in these matters   And, needless to say, I'll be mighty appreciative for it!
    RP

Hi Bob, strangely... I've put the troublesome font, Dax (T1) Regular, in the Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Fonts folder and it seems to be working.
Never had to do that before.
Would be great to get back to 'normal'.  If possible.
Although I have many duplicates spread across back-up drives and collected artwork folders, I've also tried to eliminate any duplicate 'open' versions.  But the above solution is the only one that works at the moment.
    RP
p.s. I also tried removing any AdobeFNT**.lst files, (where ** is a number) before the above work around.  That didn't work either.
