Missing Functionality -where do I set a budget for a Project?

Budgeting for Projects is non - existent
Budget for Profit and Loss for a particular project , How is it done ?
Does not work , No facility to put in Budget for a project ?
The report I am trying to run is:
REPORTS>FINANCIAL>BUDGET REPORTS>Profit and Loss Statement Budget Report.Then go to Expanded and choose a PROJECT, say MailOrder.
The result is that it will show the MailOrder project for the ACTUAL but it will show the whole company Turnover against the BUDGET column.
This is because there is no place to set a budget for MailOrder Project in the first place. So the question is where do I set a budget for a Project?
1 Budget setup screen - this has no facility to setup a budget for a PROJECT
2.Budget Profit and Loss - this has the facility to run a PROJECT budget but the figures for the Budget cannot be right because they were not setup in the first place.
PS MailOrder project is just an example.

Business needs: Customer cannot set the budget for a project and this effects their accounting.

Proposed solution: Create a Project and then be able to set a Budget for it

Please ignore my previous replies because I have now worked out why this idea will not work:
Kerstins' idea is based on setting up new Nominal Codes for every Project and for Every Nominal Code in the Profit and Loss structure. Apart from the fact that this will create a messy Nominal Structure with hundreds of Nominal Codes, the main issue here is the way the Cost Of Goods Sold is structured. The logic of our Nominal Structure for Sales and Cost of Goods is based on Item/Item Groups and the Nature of these Items. In our case we sell Skin Care products under 3 Brands. Say Brand A, B and C
So Brand A is summarised into one item Group and the ITEM GROUP is coded to Sales Nominal 20000 and the Cost of this group is coded to Nominal 30000. In Kertins suggestion, I would need to raise a Nominal Code 20001 for say Project Mail Order and 30001 for the Cost of Goods for Mail Order but this the Mail Order project is selling ALL our brands (A,B,C) - so you can see the problem here. You cannot use Nominal Codes for two different purposes and make it work. So the problem here is that my BRAND A summary will contain a Nominal with a Project Mail Order, that has SALES of Brand A,B,C. The Net effect will be that we will not be able to summarise anything in SALES and Cost of SALES in a logical way (Neither by Brand or By Project) and the Nominal Structure will be a mess.
My conclusion is that SAP b1 Sales and Cost of Goods section demands certain logic when building the Nominal Codes, and this is based on the NATURE OF THE STOCK ITEM and trying to superimpose the PROJECT issue into this, will never work. In my view, the PROJECT issue needs to be sorted without involving New Nominal codes and the starting point would be in sorting out the SALES and COST of SALES and the project Budget for this.
Please let me know if you need further illustration of the problem.

    I just got an iPhone 5 and I'm coming from a Blackberry.  I've been syncing Outlook Calendar and Contacts to a portable device for over 10 years, even back in the day of the pocket pc and more recently the Blackberry.  My iPhone 5 syncs great and seemlessly with Outlook using iTunes.  I've had no issues as of yet.  The problem for me is, it just seems "too" easy.  I didn't see anywhere where I could set rules for conflict resolutions.  For example, if your pc says one thing but your iPhone says another, who wins and supercedes the other?  What if by accident your iPhone loses all of its data, then iTunes syncs with your pc - will it delete all the Outlook data on your pc because it thinks it's syncing with updated data from your iPhone?  (in my case data I've had for over 10 years) 
    With the Blackberry software it asked you to set up rules for conflict resolution when first connecting the phone (including an option to ask you first).  In my case, I chose to have it ask me whenever it discovered a conflict.  So whenever I synced, it specifically alerted me exactly how many items are being synced, and then if there were any conflicts, it'd stop and then ask me which device I want to supercede the other.  This gave me a lot of piece of mind.  Now after getting my iPhone and using iTunes to sync, it's been great so far but I have to say that I don't have as much piece of mind.  Does anyone have any feedback on how to set up conflict resolution with iTunes and Outlook or does it not exist at all?  Again, what would happen if there was a conflict between the two devices?

    I followed your example to the letter and it still wouldn't work. Or rather, I followed to the letter expect for the difference between "WEB" and "META".
    Once I worked that out, it started working like a dream.
    Note to anyone else who has a similar problem, make sure you REALLY look at the answer given. Make sure you REALLY do have all the files in the suggested places. It will save you time.

    So you have the files in two places now right???
    Easy right click the top level Folders in the Library, select Update Folder Location and navigate to the Folder on the new drive. You will lose nothing. If you have reimported for some reason you will need to go back to an earlier back up catalog and use that to do what I have stated earlier.

    Hello. Store the logo somewhere accessible, either in a library at the PWA site collection or on the project site, make a note of the URL to the site then navigate to the project site and depending on what logo you want to update you can click Site Actions
    > Site Settings > title and description then update the image URL there. Alternatively, on the homepage of the project site add an image web part then reference the new logo using the URL. Paul

    Thanks for your reply.  We are using Acrobat Pro 10.1.3 on Windows 7 64 bit workstation. 
    We see this when adding a link in a PDF.
    Go to Tools, Content, Link.  Highlight something, Creat Link, click Next.  Pick somthing to Link too.  Like another PDF and the Window in the first screen shot comes up.
    I ran a Regshot and here are the results.  Looks like all user keys which would be normal but there must be a way to set the default in the Preferences?  This does not seem to be a setting that stays if you will so there must be something over-riding it.

    SAP improve the Outlook Integration functionality by adding search capabilities in the box "select a partner" like it is in SAP BO.

    Same problem exists in TP4 as well. And section in documentation for this topic is wrong (Figure 29-34 and Section 29.5.1.2). Figures in Section 29.5.1.2 are for Individual Pages, but not for ADF Task Flows.

  • VBA - Setting Custom Fields For Sub-Projects Using a Master File

    I was wondering if anyone had any experience or could provide some help with a Macro to set the Custom Fields in Sub-Project Files directly from the Macro. I had this macro working in the past with Project 2007, but it has been a couple years and I am struggling
    to resolve an error. I am currently running Project 2010 with SP2. I intend to use this Macro in our Server 2010 environment, however at this time, I'm testing locally on my desktop.
    Scenario.
    I have a Master File with 2 sub-project (Project A, and Project B) inserted. While working in the Master File, I create a custom field title "TEAM Lookup". While in the Master File and without having to individually go and open, edit, save, and
    close each sub-project, push the custom field down to the project files.
    ERROR: Currently, the Macro will run and I can step through the lines of code until line 12 where I'm asking Project to use the organizer to shift the newly created custom field from the Master File to a sub-project. The line appears to
    populate correctly, but instead of continuing through the loop, an error is caught (ID - 1101 - "The File (Master File) was not found")
    Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    SGBlaine,
    Project VBA can get rather fussy about some things so you just have to find out what it wants and then adjust your code accordingly. The following will work:
    Note the tweaks to the custfield variable and to the MASTER and source project names. Also when working with strings in VBA it is a good idea to eliminate at least one little gotcha, the need for exact capitalization. Therefore I always add the Option Compare
    Text statement. In your macro it won't make any difference since you do not directly create a string value, but it's good practice to have the option.

  • How to set CRTD- REL for a project consist of more than 100 WBS elements

    Dear Experts,
    Now our clients is encounting such a problem:
    There is a WBS structure consists of ONE Level 1 WBS code, serveral Level 2 WBS code and hundreds of Level 3 WBS code.  All the Level 2 WBS are created automatically according to the data transferred from another system via interface.  Level 1 and Level 3 WBS can be created mannually in project builder. And all the status of Level 2 WBS are set to CRTD once they are created automatically.
    Level 1 WBS(Let's call it A) has already been set to REL. Only one Level 2 WBS (let's call it A-00) was still CRTD because *it was created after level 1 WBS A was set to REL.*  And there are as much as 120 Level 3 WBS(let's call it from A-00-01 to A-00-120)  was created under  Level 2 WBS A-00 mannually.  Now how can I set all the level 3 WBS status from "CRTD" to "REL"?
    I have tried following two methods but both of them are failed.
    A.  Directly set Level 2 WBS A-00 or Level 3 WBS A-00-01to REL (in both CJ20n and CJ02) but the system show a Message No. BS013 falut:
    Object A has system status REL, According to this status, transaction "Particially release project" is not allowed"
    B.  Set Level 1 WBS A to REL(in both CJ20n and CJ02) but the system runs extremly slow and finally the feedback comes to a ABAP error of "Run time error" after more than 30 minutes.
    Did any of you face similar situation? Any suggestion for this issue are appreciated.

    Check the settlement profile used in the WBS elements and project.  The configuration could be such that the settlement rules are limited.
    Maximum number of distribution rules
       Maximum number of distribution rules for each settlement rule.
       You cannot settle receivers for which there are no distribution rules.
    The IMG path for this in PS is Project System -> Costs -> Automatic and Periodic Allocations -> Settlemennt -> Settlement Profile -> Create Settlement Profile.

    My case is a little bit more complex.
    There is a request and approval process attached to the provision to this target system.
    The approval process has a first level of approval (including 1 to many approval steps) and the user gets the basic access to this target system. The user can then access the target system but is limited to what he/she can do.
    Then the approval goes to a second level of approval (including many approval steps) and if approved the user gets the elevated access to this target system.
    To accomplish this, the previous implementer created 2 resources for the same target. After the first level of approval, he provisioned resource A to the user. After the second level of approval, he provisioned resource B to the user, revoked resource B, and updated resource A.
    This is very confusing because we are dealing with 2 resources for the same target.
    I am looking for way to take advantage of the GTC to provision and reconcile with a system that takes a flat file and can write a flat file. But I also need to make it work with this approval nightmare.
    Do you have any ideas on how to make this better and simpler?

    Enter OPS9 transaction for Budget Profile.In that ensure,
    Activation Type must be "1" Automatic activation during budget allocation
    Overall & Releases check boxes must be Ticked.
    If you are doing Overall & Annual budgeting then, Total Values & Annual Values check boxes must be Ticked.
    Then, Define 3 Tolerance Limits
    Click on New Entries,
    Select Controlling Area, Budget Profile, Tr. Grp "++" All activity groups, Action 1Warning / 2Warning with MAIL to person responsible / 3 Error message with Usage 80%, 90% & 100%.
    In this step you enter the tolerance limits for availability control.
    Availability control can identify budget overruns in a project at an early stage and initiates various actions.
    You activate availability control for a certain budget profile. You can specify one or more tolerance limits for each activity group for a budget profile.
    Selected actions (warning, warning with mail to person responsible for project, error message) are triggered when these limits are reached.
    If you do above settings then system will not allow you to spend more than your Budgeted Figures.

  • Price problem while making budget PO for a Project

    I wanted help from all you guys, this is related to budgetting in PS, the PS consultant prepares PR for a material wrt to a project , he has set a budget of say Rs 10000 to procure this material, now I use this PR to make a PO , & the net price of the PO is say 10000, it has a tax code carrying cenvat & say 4% CST, now the problem is when i try to save the PO , it gives me an error message saying that the budget has exceeded, that means though the net price is within the budget (Rs 10000), its also considering the tax part ,ideally it shouldnt have happened.
    Kindly guide me how do I resolve this issue .

    Default language is not defined and therefore is being set by the browser's language.
    Where do I set default language for all users?
    (I don't want that the users will be able to change it by themselves by browser/EU role).
    I tried to set the "request.mandatorylanguage" and
    "request.mandatorycountry" in prtDefault.properties but it didn't help.

    set in the prtDefault.properties, and the J2EE Server restarted after the change?

    You know how there are parental controls on the macs in the settings. In there you can set up time limits of how long you can use the computer for but I can't find it on the iphone where you can set time limits for use. I looked at the restrictions sections but I don't see anything on setting time limit. How could I set time limits for use on my phone? I go on my phone too much and I really have to set restrictions to limit my time on it.
