Missing Images in Printed Doc

I running Robohelp HTML 6 and I am trying to generate printed
documentation in pdf format.
For some reason it does not include all images. These are gif
and jpg files.
I can't figure out why it includes some images and not
others.

I'm having this same issue as well. I use the following
formats: gif, png, jpg. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or a
reason for some images to show up and others to not. All images
show up in the online help, and yet several (about 60%) do not show
up in the printed documentation (PDF or Word). It's notable to
mention that the Word output does have a placeholder the same size
as the image, however it's not linked to the image when you view
the properties.
This is highly frustrating and I'm under a deadline which is
that much tighter now that I have to go in and re-add so many
images manually.
Peter Grainge, your site is informative and looks like you
spent a lot of time on it. I have bookmarked it for future
reference, however, in this instance it was unable to provide
resolution.

  • Missing images when printing (in Word)

I am wrapping up a very long report for a client, and have inserted a number of color images (JPG). I cannot for the life of me get them to print. They show up just fine in the print preview, but nothing actually shows up on the paper when I actually print the document. I have checked every setting I can think of, but nothing seems to be off. I have tried converting to PDF, but the images are missing in those, too.  I've also tried converting to a DOC file (rather than the current DOCX version)-- also a fail.  Does anyone know what the trick is to getting images to print in Word??? I'm at a total loss and it's driving me batty.
Copying and reformatting the entire report into Pages will take FOREVER and I'm really hoping to avoid that.  Help!!!!
    Thanks.

  • Missing Topics in Printed Doc

I am losing my mind! I am trying to generate printed doc for
the sole purpose of sorting a bunch of pages in hard copy to
rethink the organization of one part of my projects. Ironically,
every time I generate the printed doc (i've done it about 20 times
so far), these pages are nowhere to be found! I've included them in
the TOC, I've moved them out of a book within a book, I've deleted
them from the TOC and added them to a book that is generated as a
chapter. I've renamed the book to remove non-alpha characters. I've
deleted the book and created a new book with a completely unrelated
name. NOTHING I do will get these pages to print. SO - I have 175
pp. document of the 175 pages that DONT need to be printed and I
can't for the life of me print the +/-20 pages that are the ones I
    want in hard copy.

first, I am using RH version X5.0.2.
    1. On your Project tab, all the way at the bottom, open the
Single Source Layouts directory. Double click on Printed
    Documentation.
    2. Set up your doc name, path, and build expression as
    needed. Click on Next.
    3. This next window is where you can select any or all topics
to include in the printed doc. It defaults, I believe, to all
topics and chapters. Just select each chapter or topic you do not
want and click on the left-pointing arrows to move these topics out
of the list on the right side of the window. Only the topics and
chapters listed in the right side (under chapter layout) will
print. This selection window works much like the Browse Sequencer
    tool.
    4. When all appropriate topics are excluded / included, click
on Next. In this window, you are establishing the sections of the
resulting doc - set up sections as needed. If you aren't publishing
this doc for distribution (just for yourself), I wouldn't worry too
much about this step. Click on Next.
    5. The last step before the doc generates is to determine
which Styles set you will use - the styles you use in RH, or a Word
Style set. Again, since this is just for you, don't sweat it. I
just use the Project's CSS Styles (select this option from the menu
at the top of the window).
    6. Click on Finish, let 'er rip, and see what comes out.

  • Missing images when printing to pdf from Word

When printing to pdf from MS Word 2003 in some cases textboxes and/or images disappear in the target PDF, depending on their position.
Word and Acrobat Standard are the latest updates. If the Word text is converted on a Mac the target pdf has the images present, so it looks like it's a Windows only problem. Any suggestions where to start looking for a fix?

You may have to turn on "display large images" in the preferences.

  • Missing images in Word Document

I am having a problem with some missing images when I
generate a Word document from RoboHelp HTML. I have seen similar
problems in these forums and have tried the solutions without
success. I have Word 2002 SP3. I have images in my document that
have conditional tags applied to them. Up until now, I have not had
any trouble with them generating in Word. I added some more images
(using RH to import them into my doc) and I set up the conditional
tags to print those and not the others. In some cases, the images
are generated and in others they are not. There is no X in its
place just a blank line. I have tried erasing the .CPD file and
re-generating. I have tried removing and re-inserting the image.
Also, if I generate the html web help, the images are all there. No
problem. I have tried embedding the images and using links and get
the same result. I have not tried to just generate the PDF because
I need to tweak the document in Word first before generating the
PDF to make everything look good.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Robohelp. That didn't
help either. The image properties all have none (not left or
right). I am running out of ideas to solve this problem. Everything
worked great before so I can't figure out what could possibly be
wrong especially since the webhelp is fine. I also tried moving the
project to my C drive. No change either. The project usually
    resides on a network drive.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it since I have a
document to print for a customer ASAP! Thank you in advance.
    Evelyn

I have been suffering with this problem of missing graphics for some time, even with RoboHelp 8. However, it now seems that I have found the answer and just in case anyone else is still having this problem I thought I would share what worked for me.
After doing some Google searching I found the web site: http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics.htm where the following solution was offered for problems with Mail Merge graphics:
"If you find that on merging to a new document the resulting paths have been changed to something like: {INCLUDEPICTURE"../,./../program%20files/My Program/ProductPictures/ImageName.jpg"\*MERGEFORMATINET} and the merge does not work correctly:-
(In Word 2003) Select Tools > Options > General > Web Options and uncheck "Update links on save""
Whatever this has to do with anything I do not know, but it magically fixed my problem and all images are now appearing in the RoboHelp Word output.

    Chris

  • Missing Images Grey Box with ?

Have tried drills to view inserted images in 4-page Pages doc, going thru Finder to view, reinsertion of images, trashed com.apple.iwork.Pages.plist,,reinstalled iworks '05 CD, upgraded to 1.0.2, read copious discussions from gurus, still no joy. Images I inserted still there, elusive as ever which remain hidden with that ugly "X" and "?" when reopening doc. Am Mac addict from day one, average Mac user, not tech guru, programmer, developer but need step by step instruction for my low-level 83-year-old comprehension. Pages works o.k. with glitches but the missing image grey box with X and ? reared its ugly head last April and still with me on occasion. Finish 4-page Pages monthly Newsletter 5 meg doc with about 15 inserted jpeg images, "save as" for local distribution printing plus "pdf" for e-mail transmission, print it but when reopening doc after closing I get the grey box with X and ? for my inserted images and have to start over. Images I inserted originally still there opening thru Fiinder viewing "Package Content". Ran G5 Hardware CD test, no problem. From discussions I noted one solution that worked by uncompressing "index.xml.gz" file. Tried that with Stuffitt which didn't work. Am unable to view to see if my images were corrupted as the Discussion Guru "Sylvain Pedneault" outlined on Sep 15, 05, that his images had property sf:corrupt="true". Could be that's my problem if I knew how to determine and fix. I've hit a firewall and am patiently waiting for Apple Pages gurus to resolve this issue still unresolved which I'm confident they will, but at my age I don't buy green bananas. My frustration level is maxed out and will appreciate help in simple step by step language as a work-around until Apple Pages comes thru with upgrade. If I make it thru the Pearly Gates, not guaranteed, I'll put in a good word for the Guru who can resolve my problem!! Thanks.

    Hello Jim,
If you want to uncompress a "index.xml.gz" file, try this way:
    a) Copy the "index.xml.gz" file to your desktop, so you are not working with the original file.
    b) Start from "Applications/Utilities" the program "Terminal".
    c) In the terminal window, type: gunzip (with a space after it).
    d) Grap the "index.xml.gz" file from the dektop and drop it over the terminal window.
    e) Hit the return key.
Now you have a "index.xml" file, which you can open with a text editor.
To compress the file, do the following:
    a) In the terminal window. type: gzip (with a space after it).
    b) Grap the "index.xml" file from the dektop and drop it over the terminal window.
    c) Hit the return key.
    The file should be compressed.
To make the template readable for Pages, do the following:
    a) Copy the original "index.xml.gz" file from the template package folder (not to the desktop) to have a backup.
    b) Now copy the "index.xml.gz" file from the desktop (the one you have edited) to the template package folder and overwrite the original.
Please let us know, what you find out.
    Frank.

  • Is there a way to create a report of topics with missing images?

If I move all images in a project to a different directory,
is there a way to print out which topics have missing images?
I would like to have all images in the HTMLHelp folder, since
this is the default folder that images are copied to when I insert
them from another source folder. If I move all images from my
"Images" folder to the HTMLHelp folder, is there a way to generate
a report that lists all topics with missing images?
Normally, I've been using the "Images" report to determine
which topics used that image before I moved them, but I'd like a
report that denotes which topics are missing images, period.
    thanks in advance,
    ChristyG

    Hi ChristyG
As long as you only move the images within the RoboHelp
    project, none should go missing!
Unfortunately, I don't believe you have an easy report at
your disposal that will advise which topics contain missing images.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Attribute "Report Layout" is missing in the "Print Attributes" tab for IR

    Hallo,
The attribute “Report Layout” is missing in the “Print Attributes” tab for an interactive report?
How to alter the report layout (xsl-fo) of an interactive report?
Has someone any idea where to configure this?
Btw, for the "classic" SQL Report the XSL-FO "Report Layout" can be cahnged in "Print Attributes" and this works fine for me. But I want to change the xsl-fo for the interactive report.
"If you do not select a report layout, a default XSL-FO layout is used. The default XSL-FO layout is always used for rendering Interactive Report regions. ... Unlike classic reports, the Interactive Report Print Attributes can only utilize the default XSL-FO layout and is initiated from the Report Attributes, Download section rather than directly from this screen. Once configured, these attributes only apply only to the current region and cannot be used outside the context of the region."
    http://apex.oracle.com/i/doc/bldapp_rpt_print.htm
How can the "default XSL-FO layout" be changed?
Changing is necessary because the Apache FOP 1.0 reports the following error (for the transmitted default XSL-FO):
    "fo:simple-page-master", "fo:region-body" must be declared before "fo:region-before"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/#fo_region-before
The default report layout is not saved in:
    select * from APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS
    Thx, Willi

I've found two workaround for getting Apache FOP 1.0 to work with Oracle Apex 4.0 for PDF printing of interactive reports:
1, Use an application process to set your custom layout for interactive reports:
    [ ] grant all on APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3 to {YOUR_SCHEMA_NAME};
[ ] Create an Application Process e.g. "Custom Report Layout" with constraint for request 'PDF' and Process Text:
    declare
    v_xsl varchar2(32767);
    begin
    v_xsl := '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''utf-8''?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
      <fo:region-body region-name="region-body" margin-top="54.0pt" margin-bottom="54.0pt"/>
      <fo:region-before region-name="region-header" extent="54.0pt"/>
    </xsl:stylesheet>';
    APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3.g_prn_template := v_xsl;
end;2, If you have some knowlege in Java change the sequnce of the the nodes in the apex_fop.jsp (or servlet), ie. changing the xsl before you use it for transformation.
The code depends on the solution you are using to parse the xsl string.
    Hope this may help someone,
    Willi

Well, the ability to convert the pdf to html and then to PDF is a worthy solution.
10,000 emails would require a batch convert solution.
This is very much beyond what I know. I'll have to leave this to better minds.
I could suggest a third party tool. Have a look at this:
    http://a-pdf.com/faq/can-i-split-pdf-file-with-nonstandard-page-size.htm
Other than that,I can't think of anything else.

  • White lines appear around placed images in printing.

A native Illustrator document with placed Photoshop (both CS6) images produces whites lines around the placed images when printed.  The Illustrator document does not show white lines on screen.  Nor does the PDF (Acrobat X Pro) generated from the IA doc show white lines when viewed on screen.  When the document goes to press, the printed product show the white lines:
See upper left image and lower right image-note: other images are not affected.  Both both are native Photoshop images, placed on a gradient in IA.  Perhaps the PDF settings: "Adobe PDF Preset" or "Standard" are not chosen correctly?  Why the white lines?

You screenshot shows a modified Illustrator Default preset with Compatability to Acrobat 4. That setting always flattens transparency which is what I would suggest avoiding first.
Note the Warnings summary alerts that transparency will be flattened.

2.That same initial 'Save Adobe PDF' widow allows for three settings: Adobe PDF Preset (12 choices); Standard (6 choices), and Compatibility (5 choices).  Note how the window signals a Warning (Warnings: Saving this file with Compatibilty set to Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) requires items with transparency to be flattened.)  Could this be a warning that produces the stitch lines in the actual printing?
    Yes

Discussion seems to indicate seeing 'stiching lines' on screen; sometimes in the designing application; or in the generated PDF.  My instances are visible only in printing-in two of the four images.
    1. Transparency.  Is this an automatic occurence in generating the PDF?  Can I turn it on/off? (The 'Save Adobe PDF' window that allows changes to: General, Compression, Marks & Bleeds,Output,, Advanced.....)
Transparency is part of some design and all Effects. Note that you can change a color by using a tint or by setting it's transparency. Many times a tint will suffice. It looks the same and has the same values.
Your original screenshot apears to use images with clipping paths. (Full disclosure - I should know this, but don't...I expect) clipping paths require/invoke the transparent background to place the images within the colored area.
You cannot get around transparency but flattening converts vector objects to raster objects (when transparency touches/abuts/interacts with raster images).
You should be able to use the Illustrator Default, High Quality Print or PDFX-4 to maintain live transparency
2 very old (2004) Adobe white papers, not too legnthy which I can shed some light. Note - PDFX-4 superceeds all of these.

  • Missing images in photo books

When I try the print or PDF preview of my photo book, there are several missing images or part missing images. Each time I preview the book different images appear to be corrupt or partly missing. They book appears to be fine in the viewer of Aperture. I do not want to send it off, until I can be sure that it will print properly. any suggestion?

    I found a work-around!!!
I've been using RAW images in the book, so when Aperture generates a PDF or book, it had to convert RAW to JPEG and some images didnt make the cut. Here's what to do: convert the RAW files to JPEG (original size) after you are done with your image editing and simply regenerate any incomplete pics, then drop the JPEGs into your book (Aperture actually seemed to remeber scale and position of the images when I dropped the JPEG on top of the RAW files in the book - very cool). Now generate your book/PDF and voila - no corrupted images! And book generation is a lot faster too since the conversion to JPEG is already done. The only downside is that you are using more space now for separate versions.
Pheewwww - my book's on order and cant wait to see the results.

  • Missing images in output to Word 2003

When I embed the images in the printed doc output, they show
up in the word 2003 doc as a box with an X in it. Why? I have tried
bumping up the virtual memory on my machine - that didn't solve it.
If I "link" the images, they show up, but I cannot link the images
    in this document. Please help.

Figured out a work-around.... Create the document in RoboHelp
and choose the "Link to Document" check box. When you view the doc
for the first time (it only works if the doc has not been saved) in
Word, click the Edit, Links menu. In the dialog select all the
files and check the "Save pictures in Document" check box. This
works, I tested it by going to another machine that does not
contain my help files and all the pictures were displayed
Not perfect, but it will get you there.

  • Custom resizing images when printing in Elements 11

Hi friends .... I could use some help ... When I was using an older Photoshop version ...I could select "print with preview" and there I could adjust the size and proportion of the image to the paper size - I would see the paper in a preview box and could adjust the image by sliding the box at the corner points and size the image any way I wanted ... and could see the actual preview of how the image could fit on the paper .... in Elements 11 - even if I do a PDF and print in Preview- there's no way I can see to do that ... I only see options for set sizes- even under the custom sizing menu ... I'm using exactly the same printer that I used with Photoshop - so I'm assuming this is a limitation with Elements ... I don't even see the option in Elements printing to change the image percentage as I've been used to with any other page setup before .... Please give any advice - this is making printing exactly what I want pure guesswork and is very difficult for me ...there must be something I'm missing when I print with Elements 11 .... thanks for any help ...
    David

Oh yes it has Barbara.  David is right.  Have a look at Elements 5.  I got that free and would still be using it if I hadn't had to upgraded to Windows 7.  I've now had to buy Elements 11 because Elements 5 wouldn't load and Elements 11 does not have that fascility that David laments.  I used that printing option almost exclusively for printing cards and I bitterly regret not having it now.  I'm very disappointed with these printing options in Elements 11.  The problem is that Photoshop eminates from the one country in 180 that seems manacled to its imperial measurements that the rest of the world has to keep wading through. I expect that to acquire my favourite printing fascility I shall have to get the full verson.  I have seen it in screenshots, so I know that it is there.  It's all very well for Barbara to say resize before entering the print window but this is just trial and error and takes forever.  In the meantime I shall continue to spend ages working round this cumbersome resizing problem each time I print my cards.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium will not print docs from computer, but will print a test page.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium will not print docs from computer, but will print a test page.  I continually get a message that the computer cannot communicate with the printer.   Not only will it not print docs, it will not print web pages using IE 11 or Google Chrome.
I've used Print and Scan Doctor, it always reports there are no issues and prints a test page even though I can't print anything else.
Each time I want to print, I must reboot the computer.  After reboot I have one chance to print.   This problem started February 15, 2015.
My operating system is Windows 8.1.   I have unintalled the HP software, rebooted, then reinstalled the software:
    OJ8500_A910_1315-1.exe
HP Print and Scan Doctor - HPPSdr.exe
    HPSupportSolutionsFramework-11.51.0049.msi
All versions were last downloaded on April 4, 2015.
I have a home wireless network (Ubee DDW366 router).  All other devices in the house will print to the 8500A printer without issues:  2 Toshiba laptops, 2 Android phones, and 1FireHD.
The desk top is installed with a Netgear Network card I don't know the model, but I had it tested by a PC Tech to confirm that the card is working.   The card and Windows 8.1 were installed on January 3, 2015.
I have run virus scans and malware scans.  Each time they show there are no issues with my desktop.  What kind of desktop? Specifically made to my specs from store parts. . . no brand name computer.  ASUS Motherboard P6X580 Premium.  Now I will probably get hacked!
I am at my wits end.  And it is frustrating when I need to make a print of something and the system locks up.  I often resort to screen printing to a word document to save in order to reboot. . . .but then I lose all sorts of capabilites when I salvage what I needed.  Also this is a time consumer.
This printer has served us well for two years and I have expensive cartridges waiting; another two rounds of refills.
    Help?
Addendum:  I can scan using HP Printer Assistance.  I open the HP Printer assistant, it "retrieves" info from the printer, then I select "scan a document or photo" and the printer responds.   I have no trouble with scanning.
