Missing IVI configuration in MAX
Could somebody please enlighten me as to the specific combination of spells, incantations, gestures, and begging that will get the IVI configuration sub-tree to appear in NI-MAX?
It has disappeared on me. Usually, I can reinstall stuff (MAX, the IVI Engine, etc) in various orders and eventually get it back again. But I seem to have lost the magic touch now.
I swear to God, as soon as I find a few spare cycles, this whole IVI thing is out the window. It's just not worth the hassle. I can write my own instrument drivers. It's really not that hard.

I'm running MAX 3.0.2.3005, which came with NI 488.2 2.20 (the last version I can find that doesn't have the new MAX.) I'm trying to recreate the configuration that I had working before. In particular, I'm trying to avoid the new IVI Compliance Package, because I know it doesn't let me set the voltage attribute on a power supply using the TestStand IVI Tools step.
The file you mention does not exist. Various attempts at installing, removing, reinstalling and repairing NI 488.2 and IVI Engine 1.83 don't seem to create it. But there is no error message to report. Actually, the entire IVI Engine is apparently not being installed. Programs that use the IVI engine can't find it either.

Error -1073807339 when using IVI (setup in MAX) to initialize instrument
I'm using LabVIEW 2014 and the most recent version of the Measurement & Automation Expert (MAX) to communicate with an Agilent 33500B series function generator with IVI drivers on a Windows 8.1 computer. (I also see this problem when trying to communicate with an Agilent oscilloscope). I've used the MAX to create an IVI logical name and tied the name to the appropriate driver session following the instructions in: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4594/en/. In LabVIEW, I have created the IVI instrument, tied it to the appropriate logical name, initialize the instrument, and then close the session. When I run this program, the Initialization block runs (resetting the parameters on the function generator) AND THEN I get the following error:

I read in the documentation that I should not simultaneously initialize with options in LabVIEW and in MAX, so I am using the Initialize block which still calls Initialize With Options. The same error occurs when I:
1. Uncheck all the options in MAX and run the code
2. Uncheck all the options in MAX and replace the LabVIEW Initialize block with Initialize With Options and run the code
3. Add a Wait block between the initialization and the close blocks and run the code.
However, I am able to communicate with the function generator when I use the VISA Test Panel (opened in the MAX) and send it a VISA command. I am also able to communicate with the function generator if I use the VISA I/O blocks instead of the IVI blocks in LabVIEW.
Is it really a timeout issue? If so, how do I change the timing? If not, what is going on?

What could be the reason for an invalid session handle? I've followed the NI tutorials on setting up IVI instruments in MAX and in LabVIEW.
Okay, this is new information. Nothing in your previous posts mention that the initialztion did anything at all besides return the timeout error. The invalid session handle is because you closed the session.
I'm having trouble following your descriptions.

IVI Configuration with PXI-4110 in TestStand
Hello All,
Set-Up:
PXI-1033 connected through MXI to a PC running Windows 7. LabVIEW 2014. TestStand 2014 (32-bit). PXI-4110 Power Supply and PXI-4070 DMM.
In MAX I can open both soft panels and control both units and they work great. In LabVIEW I can control both cards as well.
In MAX I have set up a driver and logical name for my DMM. This unit works great within TestStand using an IVI DMM step.
I then proceeded to setup the 4110 in MAX with an IVI driver and logical name. Here are my settings:
Name: ni4410_PS
Hardware: Added hardware asset and select the PS. This one is checked, no other assets are checked.
Software Module: NI-DCPower, 4110 is listed as a device that is supported.
Virtual Names: This is where I am confused, Under physical name there are four options that come up (0, 1, 2, and 3). This power supply only has 3 outputs so I am unsure why four come up. I have made 4 virtual names, one for each of the options. I named them ch0, ch1, ch2, and ch3 respectively.
When I put an IVI Power Supply step in TestStand everything seems to be working. I open the configuration window and set my values for each channel. If I try to validate the setup by unchecking simulate and click on init I do not get an error. As soon as I clic on 'Configure' or 'Show Soft Front Panel' I get the following error:
"The IVI Configure operation failed for lgical name 'NI PS 1'. Details: Extention capability not supported by instrument driver. (Base) (-30717)"
Any information would be appreciated. I tried playing with it for a couple hours yesterday and had a couple co workers try to help. We are all under the assumption that this should be working.

I use PCI-7344+UMI-7764+Servo amplifier+Servo motor,my MAX version is 4.2 and I use NI-Motion7.5
My question as following:
1,In Axis Configuration,for motor type,why I must select stepper but not servo?my motor is servo motor!If I select Servo,my motor can't run,I don't know why.
If I select stepper,though motor can work but I can't test encoder in MAX.
2,In Stepper settings,for stepper loop mode,why I must select open-loop but not close-loop?If I select close-loop,the servo motor doesn't work too.
3,If I want my two servo motors run at different velocity,How shoud I do?It seems I just can set the same velocity in MAX for my two servo motors.
My English is poor,Pls pardon me!I come from China.

The manufacturer of the drive and motor that I am using now is Japan SANYO DENKI,drive type is RS1A01AA,motor type is R2AA06020FXP00.
And I use position control mode,thehe encoder's counts per revolution is 131072.I set the electronic gear ratio to 1:1 for drive.
Now,I can use Close-Loop to control the motor but still has some problems.When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position.When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position.The detail situation is as following
1,Motor can't run.
2, Or motor moves to a position, then moves in the same direction agian and eventually stops.
Except for the two points mentioned above,"Following Error" is occured frequently,I don't know why.

And I have another question:what the relationship between the steps and the counts?They have the proportion relations?I notice that there are a section said like this in help document: For proper closed-loop and p-command operation, steps per revolution/counts per revolution must be in the range of 1/32,767 < steps/counts < 32,767. An incorrect counts to steps ratio can result in failure to reach the target position and erroneous closed-loop stepper operation.

We are in the process of removing a child domain from the forest and are down to two DCs. These are both Server 2008r2 sp1 servers, one physical and virtual (PDC). When I try to remove a DC (not the PDC emulator) I get the following error:

I have checked replication with repadmin /showrepl and all connections were successful. The dcdiag /test:kccEvent test on all servers passed.

Compact RIO NI-9082 Configuration in MAX Unable to Save
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to set up a new cRIO the NI-9082. Currently, I am able to see the cRIO under 'Remote Devices' in MAX and view configurations. However, two errors are occurring:
1). When I try to change setting such as hostname and press 'save' a warning pops up saying "There was a problem saving the settings to the target. Make sure your hardware is powered on and hat it is connected to the network". I've attached an image below.
2). At the same time, when I try to install software onto the cRIO by right-clicking 'software' and selecting 'add/remove software' and run the 'LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard', another error pops up: "Error: the harddrive n the remote system is either full or encountered an I/O error." I've also attached an image below.
The cRIO is powered on with 'DISABLE RT' toggled OFF. It is connected to the network via an Ethernet cable. This connection looks fine however I look at it. (The Ethernet port connection light is flashing continuously indication activity etc.) It is from the PC which is connected to the same network, that I am trying to interface with the cRIO. The cRIO displays the correct IP address assigned through the network.
Apologies if I haven't supplied sufficient information to solve this problem, but if anyone might be able to explain why I might be encountering these two problems under these circumstances, help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for your reply! The firewall was an initial issue, so I had asked an administrator to disable it. This allowed me to proceed to my current stage where I am able to see the cRIO and its configurations in MAX; but encounter the problems mentioned in my main post. At least, I think its been disabled. In the attached FirewallOFF.JPG, everything does look turned off. However, in the attached FirewallMAXUnticked.JPG, MAX is not 'ticked' as an 'allowed program'; but when I proceed to add it, the error message shown pops up confirming MAX is already on the list of exceptions. If the firewall isn't the problem, do you have any other ideas what might be?

How can I export my configuration from MAX to another automation system through NI-DAQmx
Hi,
has someone of you an idea how i can export my configuration from MAX to another automation system through NI-DAQmx?
We created a dll for the communication between the AUSY (not LabVIEW) and NI-DAQmx. The export file .nce is not in ascii format, so we can't use it or is there a way of solving our problem with it?

Its clear what the problem is, I have tried to recreate the password file but I still get the same error.
my steps
1. shutdown the instance
2. orapwd file=orapwDWDEV password=mypassword entries=10
3. startup
One thing I wonder is the name of the passwordfile, I saw in one post that the name should be orapw<sid>, I noticed that he old name
was PWD<SID>. What controls the name (apart from the sid) ?
Any ideas how to handle this is appreciated.

When I start Coherence, I get the following error:

The config in coherence-rest-pof-config.xml for com.tangosol.coherence.rest.internal.Get is as follows:

I had a quick look in the coherence-rest.jar, where com.tangosol.coherence.rest.internal.Get is defined. com.tangosol.coherence.rest.internal.Get implements InvocableMap.EntryProcessor, but not PortableObject.
Am I missing something? As far as I can see, InvocableMap.EntryProcessor does not implement PortableObject either.
Is there any way to fix this?
ThanksThe jar file coherence-common-1.7.0.16988.jar would have been part of the Coherence Incubator product, and isn't part of the core Coherence product itself.
You'd probably need to refer to the Coherence Incubator site as there are probably significant changes between the version you are using in 3.5.3 and with what is meant for 12.1.2. -

WHEN using the DBUA i get the following on C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs\emca\ftdcdb\emca_2010-08-19_02-37-49-PM.log
The dabatase is working fine (is and up and running), , i can log in, run sql queries, but i wanted to upgrade EM too, but i am not able to figure this out, any one has suggestions? Basically the problem is on The Enterprise Manager part.

Hi All
I got a problem with MAX and IVI
I have installed IVI Compliance Package 3.3 And I can see under the Category "Software" i MAX, but I can't see the IVI category in MAX.
What can be wrong? I have tried to repair my installation with no result.
I also got these programs installed:
IVI Shared Components
IVI VISA COM Standard Components
National Instruments IVI Specific Drivers
National Instruments Software
BTW, what do you thing of using IVI drivers instead off VISA?

Go to Solution.Hi Bjarne,
You can try to remove the IVI Compliance installation from the Add/Remove Programs.
Reboot.
Then Download DAQmx8.8: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1085/lang/en and install it(by doing this you are upgrading MAX aswell).
Reboot.
Install IVI Compliance Package 3.3 again.
Please let me know how it goes.

When I try to use VC on my desktop (winXP sp2 - Internet Explorer browser v.6.0.2900.2180 sp2) show me a popup with the following message: "bad or missing storyboard configuration file ( studio.ini)"
