Missing novlxregd user

I applied patches to an OES 11.1 server last night and rebooted it. Some services now will not start. After some looking around, the user novlxregd is missing. When I do "id novlxregd" it returns "id: novlxregd: No such user". But, more than than, when I look in eDirectory, the user does not exist in the server context.
The user novlxregd exists in other contexts, but I am not sure if I can use one of them, nor do I know how to point this server to the user in other contexts.
Can anyone help me out?

I got things working. I manually created the user in the server context and then LUM enabled it. I used another user of the same name in another context as an example. After creating the user, I was able to start novell-xregd and other services that depend on this one.

My solution to missing main user/admin acct...

Well, here's how I fixed my missing main user (me)/admin account.
After doing an *Archive & Install*, I was quite surprised to see that my account was not transferred. My wife's and sons' accounts were there, but nothing else. Logged into my wife's account, but her account was Standard and my sons' account was Managed. So, I couldn't download the two updates. But I did see that my "old" Home folder was still in the Previous Systems' Users folder. So, I moved it back into the "new" Users folder.
First off, I was unable to use Single User Mode (Command-S). It booted into Single User mode, but I never got any echo when typing?!?! And yes, I was using a wired keyboard.
So, I booted off the Leopard DVD and performed the Password Reset from the Utility Menu, as mentioned in other threads. I selected System Administrator (root) changed the password.
And to top it off, we just had an EARTHQUAKE... Preliminary 5.6 magnitude, centered 9 mi NE of San Jose, CA.
Continuing...
Restarted and logged in via the "Other" user login and used Root and the new password. This allow me to get back and download the new updates. However, the updates didn't help.
So, I went back and tried to created a new user with Admin privileges. I used the same user name, short name, and password as my previous account. I got the message about using the existing folder for the "new" user and I clicked Yes/OK. After a wait, the new account was created! YEAH!
So, all is well...after approx. 3-4 hours.
So, how do I get rid of the "Other" user login?

Missing the User Extensible Policy

I don't know if this is the right forum.
We are missing the User Extensible Policy when we are creating a User
Policy packet
When we create a new User Policy packet we have all the options except the
User Extensible Policy. We need this to redirect folders. We did this on
other networks without any problems.
Network:
Netware 5.1 sp6
Zen 3.2 sp2
Tested on:
Windows 2000 (NwClient 4.83 sp1 and sp3)
Windows 98 (NwClient 3.21)
ConsoleOne 1.3.3
ConsoleOne 1.3.5
The pcs and the servers are the same on every network.

In consoleone you would go to help and then snapins, but that can be
very confusing.
Easiest way would be to download the snapins from novell.
download.novell.com under products select zenworks for desktops from
there you can get the 3.2 snap-ins.
Extract the download and copy the snap-ins to your c1 copy, it would be
best if you were running c1 local on your workstation.
Q, when you copied c1 from the working location, did you copy the whole
1.2 directory to your desired location?

10.4 SA OpenDirectory archive misses some users

I am migrating services from an Xserve G5 running 10.4.11 to an Intel Xserve running 10.5.6.
To move all users and groups from the G5 to the Intel, I've decided to backup the LDAP data and move it over, since I wanted to keep the passwords intact.
I archived the LDAP database on the old server using ServerAdmin's Archive feature. Then moved the sparseimage to the new server. Finally I used the Archive feature on the new server to load the LDAP data.
I opened up WGM and it all seemed to be fine until I noticed the total number of users at the bottom of the window. I was missing three users. I went back to the old server to check and they were there. I did a filter on the WGM and could not find the missing users. I looked up the users on the new server using the Directory.app to no avail.
What makes this happen? How do I migrate the missing users while keeping the passwords?

Apparently in LDAP speak, records missing the sn attribute will not import into LDAP databases on servers newer than 10.4. I'm guessing sn is the surname entry under the Information tab for each user in WGM. The sn attribute was introduced to the Mac OS X server LDAP schema in 10.3.9.
That's was it! The 10.4 server that I'm working on started out as a 10.3 server. The sn attribute was added for all existing users to the LDAP database when I incrementally upgraded the OS to 10.3.9. But I had a template in WGM that I used to create new users that did not have the sn attribute. So any new users created using this template after the upgrade to 10.3.9, and even after the upgrade to 10.4, would be missing the sn attribute.

Missing a User access in the log-on picture

Lacks a user access to log on picture after start-up in Yosemite. In user administration there has been created two user entries - an administrator and a normal access. The normal access is not visible from the log on picture, and it is only possible to access through the visible user (Adm.) and then switch the user by switching in the upper right corner!!!
Wish, possible for all users to log on from the boot up image. (Adm - Normal - Guest access)

same issue:
retina MacBookPro mid2012. Clean install of OS X Yosemite 10.10
I'm randomly missing an account at login screen after reboot.
Sometimes I can fix it with booting into my initial account 'Kevin' (userid 501) and then changing to different login 'Christina' (userid 502).
But if I log out from my account, the second account is missing. Same if I do a reboot.. This have me in stitches as I ofcause has the need for privacy from each account.
Both accounts are set up as admins, guest is deactivated.

apart from that... I have loads of problems with Bluetooth, and hand-off only working 1 way (5s with 8.1) where only iOS -> OS X works, not vice-versa.

Missing files, user folder, application folder and system folder

I am using a MacBook Pro 2011 model with OS X 10.9.4.
Since I bought the machine several years ago, I have had only a few small problems with it. Yesterday I wanted to reduce the size of a video, so I downloaded a video compressor/converter software, and left the computer on and the program compressing my video whilst I went off to work. When I returned home, the compressing program had a pop-up saying ''Could not complete compression, system full'' or something along those lines.... After trying to play the movie without success, I decided that I would restart my computer, as it had been on all day.
When the computer restarted, it came up with the grey loading bar, which usually comes up when I have done a software update. It disappeared quite soon and several minutes later, my user profile appeared. I logged in as normal, and then tried to open my browser. An error message popped up stating"Can't open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges. You might want to contact the administrator of this machine". I then tried to open other programs and they all came up with similar messages and did not open. Skype stated "Can't create a lock file at Users/Lauren/Library...etc".
I then went to Finder to look at my applications and they were ALL GONE! Then I went to a folder I have with all my files called "My files", and although the primary folders were visible, "SCHOOL,WORK, HOLIDAYS PICS, etc", these folders were empty. I then checked my User folder, and my systems folder and these were empty too. However, the Desktop and Documents folders still contain the documents that were previously there, and my background images remained the same.
I tried to open Word, and although it is also missing from the applications folder, and it opened, also allowing me to open a document which I know is located within the 'empty' folders. I have a feeling that my documents and files are still on my computer, but I don't know how to access them!
Please if someone could shed light on the situation! All my work files and personal files are on this computer and I would be devastated to loose them!

OS X- Gray progress bar appears under Apple logo during startup
You need to start by doing the following:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

Missing on Users end: How to install Font Manager.IndesignPlugin. Indesign_CC

I installed Indesign CC on the admin side of my computer. It seems to open/work fine there but when i login as a user on the computer, it won't open Indesign because it claims it is missing the Font Manager.IndesignPlugin. It originally said it was also missing the Character Panel.IndesignPlugin but I copied and pasted it from the admin to user's plugin folders. That seemed to fix that issue. But, doign find/searchs of the file name on both the Admin side and users side, i I am unable to even find the plugin. Why is this happening and where can I find this?
So very frusturated. This is all after I've installed/uninstalled this 4 times already today because of other issues.

Text missing from user notification email

I set up a form and embedded it on our web site. For every completed form I received an email containing all the text submitted.
The users also received a notification email, but some of the text was missing from the responses. It appears that only the text that was visible in the box on the screen gets sent to the user.
Is this a known bug?

CUP 5.3: Missing End User Personalization and others

Upgraded from 5.2 to 5.3 SP06. I'm expecting to see End User Personalization, User Review, and Change Long submenus in the Configuration tab, but they are missing. I've imported the SP06 XML files for CUP, and configured the system to no avail. I've opened up a support message, but was hoping that someone else has experienced this.

Missing dynamic user events across VIs

We have a sub-Vi Statemachine.vi, which has its own event structure with a 5ms time-out, everything enclosed into a loop.
This sub-VI is called repeatedly from the main application with command lists to execute. This can be a longer list or e.g. an empty list.
It turned out, that we can miss successfully sent events, despite the documented internal queues.
Placing the event structure into an added parallel executing, non-terminating loop in the sub-VI seems to help.
Is there a link to further informations about this behaviour? We are using a german LV 8.2.1.

I don't know of a good document describing the use of the user event in the way the you and I are using them.
I've learned from bits and pieces lying around and my collegue. After using it for two years now I have a framework in which the use of user events is relatively easy.
I know this doesn't help you a lot, but I know that if get the hang of it, it will provide a good and usable architecture.
I hope the attachments helps you a bit. It is the way I define user event for inter process communication. It will get rid of a lot of wiring.

Missing Menu 'USER' in Security Center

Dear All,
I have a problem with adding the new users. After I installed new BI 10.1.3.4.0 on Win2008, I haven't found a menu USER that allow me to manage User.
Can any found tell me, why it missing?

Missing ldap users

On Filr 1.01 there are certain users that are not showing up in Filr even after running a sync. All the Filr users are in the same container in eDirectory. I cannot find a distinguishing factor between the synced and non synced users. Has anyone else encountered this with Filr?

That's what I recommend. However, one thing to keep in mind is that
you could very easily have duplicate cn in multiple containers which is
completely legal naming in eDir. However, my understanding is that uid
is always unique. This is one potential pitfall of using cn but still
gets around the issue noted in this thread where older users may not
have a uid.

Missing all user-installed Apps after restore after failed 3.1.3 upgrade

I upgraded my 3G to 3.1.3. iTunes (9.0.2.25 on Windows 7 PC) first backed up the iPhone and then proceeded with the upgrade, which failed (never had this happen before) and forced me to do a restore from the latest backup. After the restore, I seem to have all my data in the native apps, but all user-downloaded apps are missing. I expected them to be present after the restore... No???? I didn't keep apps synced back to my iTunes previously. Are they all lost?

Update: I see ~370 megs of 'Other' usage and expect that to be my apps... but don't see any apps still.
