Missing Software Instrument after Leo Install

Just a quick prelude...
While updating from Tiger to Leo with Archive and Install, the install crapped out on a bad printer driver (some kind of error about a Lexmark printer drivee and then restarted).
Well because of the error, I could not do anything but a clean install because the previous install had already gotten to the point of creating the Previous Systems folder.
So, I install Leo and start the ARDUOUS task of reinstalling my software. I start my iLive 08 install from the DVD (since Leo does not come with iLife), and installed Jam Packs 1 through 6, and everything seemed to have go OK. UNTIL, I started up Garageband and a number of software instruments are now grayed out. And they all seem to be Sftw instrument that have been there since GB1.
i.e. In the track Info panel, under the Sftw inst button, if I select "Garageband", the vast majority of the instrument are grayed out: ALL the Guitars, Synth Textures & Woodwinds are grayed, and maybe only a couple instruments available (BLACK) in the other categories.
Since these BASE instrument did not get installed, I can only assume that, A) they are not included in iLife '08, or B) something is going hinky in the install.
I have tried the install twice, and they is zero change in the status of the base instruments.
Can anyone help me getting this base instrument reinstalled.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI - I had iLife 08 installed in Tiger and all the instruments were there. I have searched the entire drive with Spotlight and EasyFind and the missing sftw instr are not anywhere on the drive, not even in the Previous Systems folder. And, yes I have checked the Garageband folders in both the system Library and the old and new user library.

Maybe it was too late in the morning, or maybe it was because I was up for 40 hrs dealing with all the complications that occur when an upgrade install craps out on you.... whatever the reason, I could not see the custom install on 4 different re-installs of iLife '08.. UNTIL... you said "do a custom install"!
I swear, I was so frustrated because I could not find the custom install, and I was sure there should be one!..
Oh, well. Guess I just needed some sleep to clear up the goggles...
Still missing a few Sftw instruments though, and I can't seem to figure out where they came from initially. i.e. Guitos (a big bongo often used in latin bands). I used the have it, have song tracks set to use it, but now it is gone from the sfwr inst list completely. I checked the docs for each jam pack, and I can't find it listed either - maybe that goggle thing again.
Have you heard of this instr, and if so, do you know which jam pack it came from?
Well, back to fixing the 400 other items that screwed up when the upgrade failed. At least I got FCS2 reinstalled without too many issues, except NONE of the APPLE templates are showing up in DVDSP, although ALL my custom templates are listed just fine.

Recently I've bought a 15' MacBook Pro with OS X version 10.8.3 installed on it(and I've updated it to version 10.8.4) and tried to download [missing software
instruments and loops] for GarageBand, but that update for the additional GarageBand contents couldn't be found on App Store's update page even after trying
several times. Does anybody have a solution or similar experience? Answers would be greatly appreciated!

I recently had the same problem when I upgraded to Garageband '11. There are many posts and answers about this issue on the forum, but the one that worked for me was also the simplest solution. When you get to the Updates window on the App Store and it says it doesn't find any updates, hit ⌘-R to reload. When I did that, the additional instruments and loops download appeared in the Updates window and I was able to download them.
If that doesn't work for you, search this forum. There are many more possible solutions. Good luck!

Missing Plug ins after successful install

In Design is missing plugins after what seems like a successful install. Other Downloads are OK ( Photoshop Lightroom ) I've tried uninstalling and re-installing sevaral times same outcome....Fisrt looks for JBX then others. Will launch but missing tolls and other things from the programe.
MacBook Pro. OSX 10.9.2
This happened after I installed a new SSD with the existing Harddrive wiped and used for data. Everything esle working fine.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

Safari 4 missing from Software Update after fresh install of OS X?

This seems a little odd...
I recently reset my unibody MacBook Pro with a fresh install of OS X 10.5.6 but, after restarting and going to Software Update, Safari 4 is not showing up in the list of available updates! Version 3.2.1 gets installed but doesn't show any updates? It did last week, but now it's gone?
I know I can download it without using Software Update, I just thought it was strange that it didn't show up. Anyone else noticed this?

Missing Disk Partition after Yosemite Install (invalid sector size)

Right off the install, my exFAT partition on my MBP is missing. Thought it was not mounted automatically so I went to Disk Utility to have a look.
It says "invalid sector size (0)" or something (I'll edit/update this post in a bit. I'm on Mac Recovery as I'm typing this) and it couldn't repair it.
Bootcamped into Windows and the same thing's happening (partition shows up but as an unformatted volume, proceeds to prompt to format partition)
I haven't thought to check to see if the OSX volume has expanded or not, so I'll do it after this.
Man I hope the files are still there. Is there a fix or way to manually edit the sector size?
Would reverting back to Mavericks be able to repair it?
Disk Details:
960GB Crucial M500 SSD
Partitioning Order:
NTFS (W7) 128GB | exFAT (stuff) 512GB | HFS (OSX) 256GB | freespace (not used) the rest
(Windows reports a more complicated partition map due to the Hybrid MBR partition map, but the main partition order is as above)
(As for why this order, it happens that I am unable to add an additional partition when I install OSX before Windows due to constraints of the MBR-type partitioning, but I am able to add one when Windows is installed before OSX as a workaround to save one partition count in the MBR)
Mac Details:
MBP 15" Mid-2012 Model A1286 4GB RAM
OSX 10.10 (Yosemite)
Windows 7 via Bootcamp

Hi putnik, thanks for the reply. I've tried the repair in Disk Utility from the recovery partition and it's unable to fix it as well.
The installer didn't have any prompts regarding File Vault (I never turned it on in the first place) beforehand.
It's my first time reading of Core Storage, so that may have bitten me on this end. The interesting property of the exFAT volume is Disk Utility recognises that as a Bootcamp volume (although no OS was installed in it and it doesn't appear in Bootcamp). (EDIT: it said that when I still had Mavericks but now it doesn't say anything even with the windows partition)
I'm still looking around for a fix or any way of reading it, and I'm holding off the last resort of reformatting it. Got a few days of work in it that I haven't backed up, although finding a fix could use the same amount of time as redoing it.

Software Updates after lion install?

After Installing Lion, my computer ran a software update check. After the updates, imovie and garage band did not work. So I tried the update again and clicked show details, it listed imovie and garage band updates, there is a check box next to them, but I can't click the check box. So right now imovie and garage band remain broken. Any thoughts?

try restarting the computer and the selecting software update from the apple menu, having no other apps open, and click install all, if any fail deselect them and do the other ones, restarting the and doing the ones tht failed after installing the ones that worked

Mac Pro Missing Serial Number after SSD install

After installing a new SSD in an unused bay in my Mac Pro (OS 10.8.4) and setting it as my start-up disk with only System, Apps, Library and Users Folders on it, I have had a remarkable improvement in performance - things simply snap open now & I have not seen a spinning beachball/cogwheel until....
Messages will not work now - on opening, the program asks me to enter my Apple ID & Password but will not accept the entries (which I have double-checked & confirmed on my Mac Book Pro, iPad & iPhone) - I get a prolonged spinning cogwheel & then a message that it could not connect and I should check my Network Connections - I did & they are all working fine for other programs.
On line sources indicate that the iMessage Registration process involves the Mac's Serial number.
This no longer appears under the About This Mac Menu item when I click on the Version 10.8.4 line (the Build Number does appear).
This 4 year old Mac Pro has never had the Logic Board replaced.
And iMessages worked great prior to the SSD install.
Any ideas?

you cloned the system? used Migration or Setup Assistant?
I doubt it has anything to do with the SSD.
But you might include what you did, what make of SSD even, and some brands (but not Samsung) would need firmware update.
You also need to use TRIM Enabler on any and all SSDs (unless you paid dearly and bought an Apple device).
Before you clone, install TRIM Enabler!
And after you clone, run Disk Utility's REPAIR DISK on the SSD -- just to be on the safest side.

SSD Maintenance
try creating a new user account. I doubt it is the SSD, or you, though it could be your OS install or just the common issues with iMessages. Is there not a forum for it? I'd think there would be.

Place in Indesign Missing from CS4 after CS5 install

I have noticed that on two of our macs after installing CS5 that the Place in Indesign command in CS4 bridge is no longer appearing in the list anymore, all other choices are there, Does anyone have a fix for this. - thanks!

Unable to convert .doc to PDF after Leo install

What am I missing? I recently installed Leopard on four machines, two at home and two at school. In all cases I am not able to write a PDF from a Word doc, something that I have to do from time to time. There is a message that says my PDF printer is not present... I've tried to get my home machine to recognize the PDF printer in my printer window and I get the 52 week beachball. I have tried to find this topic on several sites but I couldn't be the only one experiencing this bump in the road...on all four computers...Word version is from Office 2004, four computers are a G5 tower, Macbook, two Intel MacMinis... It is probably too simple, but I can't see it...

You don't need Acrobat for this at all.
If you select "Print..." there is a "PDF..." button in the lower left corner of the dialog. Click the button and select "Save as PDF..." or you can do "Open in Preview..." and save from there.
OS X has had the ability to generate PDFs since the 10.0 days. The whole graphics infrastructure is based on PDFs. You have no need whatsoever for Acrobat on the machine to do this.

DbAdapter missing in OEM after initial install

Hi,
I've just installed OAS 10.1.3.1 without error and have verified that I can cycle the OAS instance.
Now, I'm trying to configure the database adapter but DbAdapter doesn't appear in the list of available Modules in OEM. Did I miss something in the installation procedure that could have caused this?

OEM software lost after fresh install?

First of all - thanks to the whole community for the help I've gotten by simply browsing these forums.
Now, to my problem: My Powerbook had 10.3 installed when I got it, including OEM software like Omni Outliner and some image viewer I can't remember the name of(*), both of which I loved.
(* edit: I think GraphicConverter, but am not sure where I got it from)
Two weeks ago my hard drive gave up, and I now have a new one installed. I then installed 10.4. Now I'd love to get the Outliner and the other apps back, but am clueless as to where I could get them from.

Thanks for the pointer; I found the versions of iMovie and iPhoto that came with the PB with this method. The other programs I was looking for are still nowhere to be found, but I've decided my time is worth something and bought new licences for the ones I really used.

Software Block after BOGUS install

My colleague borrowed my macbook pro and installed a bootleg version of iLife '08 and now none of my PURCHASED Apple applications function.
Anyone with any clue as to what to remove to reactivate applications?
I am an honest person, and would never have allowed this guy to do this.

How do I restore/add missing Firefox fhortcut after Firefox installed in Kubuntu 10.10

I have a new installation of Kubuntu 10.10. I ran the Firefox installer. There is no Shortcut to Firefox anywhere. If I pull up the menu and search for "Firefox" it shows me the sprocket icon and Firefox. I can click on it to launch but I cannot add it to the desktop as a shortcut or to the start menu. I have also tried removing and reinstalling Firefox but no icon/shortcut. Can you advise me how to get the shortcut added?

Who have problem with your bootcamp after this instalation?

I use VMware software and after the instalation i receive this advertise:Cannot open the disk/Users/leofernandoz..../Libary/Application Suport/VMware Fusion/Virutal Machines/Boot Camp/%2Fdev%2Fdisk0/Boot Camp partition.vmdk"or one of the snapsohot disks it depends on.
Reason: The partition table on the physical disk has changed since the disk was created. Remove the physical disk from the virtual machine, then add it again.
What the best and easiest solution for it?

There is nothing on Fusion Community in the way of FAQ regarding Lion and bumping Windows partition +1 ( due to presence of a recovery partition added0.
A quick check of VMware Fusion turns up a thread or two (-:
Boot Camp partitions may not be accessible through Fusion after upgrading to Lion.
