Missing Text in Print Output
When I print a PDF as hardcopy, individual letters are disappearing from the printed document, but are still present in the online view. The letters that vanish are often the same letter, such as all the G's and g's. Not in all cases, though.
I am using Reader X on WIn 7. PDF was generated from Word 2010 using "Save as". Can anyone help?
Did you use "Save As" or "Save As Adobe PDF" ?
Try the below steps:-
1. Create the PDF using PDF Maker plugin in word application and then print the PDF.
2. If you are using a postscript printer then in Print dialog click on Advanced and under "font and resource policy" set the dropdown value to "send for each page". Then try to print the document.
3. As a workaround you can use "print as image" option in the same advanced print setup dialog box.

Pages 5.2 Table missing text when printed
I created a document with several tables. These tables contain algebra formulas with superscript. I read in another forum that the issue may be the use of the superscript. However their problem only occurred when printing the document as a PDF. I am having the problem printing from both Pages and as a PDF. Some superscript appears as it should. Not all missing text is superscript.
Any ideas? I hate to have to recreate this document in Word. I took me forever to create.
Mavericks 10.9.3
Pages 5.2Known limitation with Pages v5.2. If you had Pages ’09 installed before the upgrade downgrade to Pages v5.2, it was moved to /Applications/iWork ’09.
You will need to export from Pages v5.2 as Pages ’09 in order to process your work in the older Pages version. You will also need to open the Pages ’09 document either through that Applications file chooser, or via the right-click, contextual menu Open with > Pages (4.3). Double-clicking with both Pages installed will default to using Pages v5.2.
LibreOffice is a free alternative to MS Word, and works better with Mavericks than does OpenOffice. -
Windows XP - Missing text when printing to Xerox Docucolor
Currently printing Illustrator CS3 from a Windows XP to a CREO driver running a Xerox Ducucolor 240.
Sent a document and discovered some of the text was missing. It was a label set up 2-up on the page and the missing text occurred in the upper label, but was not missing on the lower label.
I went back to see if I had not duplicated all of the label and discovered that the document was complete.
Without changing the document, I sent it again. This time it printed correctly.
What could make the document lose some of the content?Something likely happened during the transmission of the job to the printer. It could be a fluke but if it happens again, you should check all your connections, condition of your wires and cables, and your power protection.
Could also have been a blip with Illy and/or whatever other apps you had running at the same time; a slight conflict somewhere occurring at the exact wrong nanosecond.
ETA:
In other cases (though not in this one), it could be a font issue. Corrupt font, duplicate font on your system or with the printer. It could also be an issue with the Illy file itself; not exactly a bad idea to copy everything and place it in a new file. -
HP Photosmart C5580 has missing text on printed page
My printer stopped printing a couple of months ago, we kept getting a message about the print spooler. Finally I removed the printer from my computer and then reinstalled the newest driver from the website. The printer started working again..Now when I print a pdf document most of the text on the page is missing and yet it prints boxes and lines the text was in. Anyone have a suggestion?
Ask the kobo people or delete and redownload the books.

VenkateshHi,
For triggering the output for changes you have to make some changes.
- Go to SM30
- Enter view name "<b>VV_T161M_EF</b>".
- Hit 'maintains' view.
- Now let's say your outpu type is 'NEU'. For this there will be one entry like this.
Operat. Ctyp. Name Short text Update
1 NEU Purchase order New
Now with this entry add one more entry like this.
Operat. Ctyp. Name Short text Update
2 NEU Purchase order Change X
You just need to enter Operat. = 2 and Ctyp = NEU. The 'name' and 'short text' will come automatically.
- Save your entry and create.
After doing this, your PO will trigger output on change.
Let me know if you have any other information.

Some text goes missing in the PDF output after I convert FM8 book
Hi,
I am using Framemaker 8.0, Acrobat 8.0 Professional, Acrobat Distiller 8.0.
When I convert my Framemaker books to PDFs, some text (especially Table Heading tags) go missing in the PDF output. I have tried to change the font colour, change the cell shading, and many other options. But, the problem persists.
I saw some similar links on the forums with this kind of problems. For example,
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=952909
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3285145
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4167112
http://helpx.adobe.com/framemaker/kb/troubleshoot-pdf-creation-problems-framemaker.html
After going through these links from the forums, I realized that this is a known issue. But, the above links direct me to Microsoft patches and these patches are available only for Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, and Windwos Vista operating systems. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit version.
One more thing I want to say is we have never faced this problem earlier. It started appearing now.
While I know that the world (many of us) moved on to Framemaker 9 and 10, I also know that there is someone out there to help me to overcome this issue.
Thanks and regards,
Raghavacharyulu NCBHi Harpreet,
Thanks for your response.
We tried this option also. In fact, the Distiller shows this option by default. Secondly, we have recently updated our old template to reflect the new corporate styles and we suspect something went wrong there. We once again took the old template and updated with the new colour definitions and fonts, this time very carefully and it started working. Now, the text is not missing.
So, the result is something is wrong with our template. Quite surprising is it is inconsistent and some places the text appears and some places it does not.
Where do you work? Are you in India?
Cheers,
NCB Raghavacharyulu

I just spent 3 days creating a book [32 pages], with photos and text but when I click Buy Book In iPhoto this appears>
Our book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?
My question is will the text I have sellected to use still be ok, am I safe to continue and buy or will the book have missing text ?
The book is for special birtday in 2 weeks time Please Help.G
<Email Edited by Host>Yes, you're safe to continue. That means that there are text boxes that you did not put any text into and they contain the holding text which will not be printed. That text is shown in a light grayt and is in Latin. Normally you can just put a space in the text box to replace the holding text so as not to get that warning message.
Before ordering the book proof the book according to this Apple document: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture. Check the pdf file for any missing text or photos and any warning indicators in the text boxes indicating that some of the text has exceeded the space allotted in the text box.
Keep the pdf file to compare with the printed copy when you reciive it.

Acrobat X Pro + Office 2010: missing text fields
Win7/64
Using the PDF printer
Hi,
very strange problem: simple TIF file (tried different bitmap formats) in a Word 2010 document (graphic before text) and a simple textfield -- not more.
Printing as PDF (with various settings) -- but the text(field) is missing in the PDF output.
Same behaviour in Acrobat Pro 9 and Office 2010.
With Word 2003 I did not have such annoying problems...
Can anybody help me? I'm trying and trying and ...
CarlosProblem seems to occur more often: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/838524
And I am having it too on Adobe Standard 9.4.4.
Text in text box from Word 2010 is not output in PDF (even not hidden). The text box background is copied over in the PDF. Reproducible. And if I put multiple text boxes on each other, sometimes a few or parts of characters appear.
I find Microsoft Save as PDF not an option, it has numerous worse bugs. Good to know that the problems also appears with Acrobat X. That save me an upgrade to test whether it has been solved by a newer release. -
Missing Text when logged in chinese language
Dear Experts,
I have created a smartform to print barcode which will be triggered through a custom program.Everything is fine when logged in EN but when logged in chinese language one of the window text/information is missing in the layout.All the attributes/parameters of this window are normal and same like other windows.
I debugged the smartform to see the language parameters being passed in the run time for this window and found everything is quite same with other windows but I really can't figure it out why this particular window text is missing.
The text/info. printed through this window is a value that comes from the print program.
I also tried the option translate into other language in the attributes but not really useful.
Any help is greatly appreciated <offer removed by moderator>.
Regards.
Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Feb 23, 2012Hi,
I am not sure , but if output and Font have no problem, then this can also be due to output device type used for smartform / PDF printing.
Check if output device type is different in EN and ZH in table TSFDEVTY.

HP LaserJet P1102W - no print output in Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon Desktop
I've just done a default install of Linux Mint 17.1 - as feared, no print output.
I'm guessing I need to install a driver - but I couldn't find anything easily on HP site, only Windows/Mac OS stuff. Are HP printers generally linux friendly? Where can I download drivers if they are? More over, I'm a total linux newbie, so any drivers need to be easily installed! I'm not currently familiar with Terminal windows and line commands!
My printer does have wireless enabled, but I have it connected via direct USB also.
Linux Mint did offer to run a diagnostic tool/debugging tool which gave a great deal of what means nothing to me. Debug output is below if it is helpful, but hoping a simple driver install will cure all ...

Attribute "Report Layout" is missing in the "Print Attributes" tab for IR
Hallo,
The attribute “Report Layout” is missing in the “Print Attributes” tab for an interactive report?
How to alter the report layout (xsl-fo) of an interactive report?
Has someone any idea where to configure this?
Btw, for the "classic" SQL Report the XSL-FO "Report Layout" can be cahnged in "Print Attributes" and this works fine for me. But I want to change the xsl-fo for the interactive report.
"If you do not select a report layout, a default XSL-FO layout is used. The default XSL-FO layout is always used for rendering Interactive Report regions. ... Unlike classic reports, the Interactive Report Print Attributes can only utilize the default XSL-FO layout and is initiated from the Report Attributes, Download section rather than directly from this screen. Once configured, these attributes only apply only to the current region and cannot be used outside the context of the region."
http://apex.oracle.com/i/doc/bldapp_rpt_print.htm
How can the "default XSL-FO layout" be changed?
Changing is necessary because the Apache FOP 1.0 reports the following error (for the transmitted default XSL-FO):
"fo:simple-page-master", "fo:region-body" must be declared before "fo:region-before"
http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/#fo_region-before
The default report layout is not saved in:
select * from APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS
Thx, WilliI've found two workaround for getting Apache FOP 1.0 to work with Oracle Apex 4.0 for PDF printing of interactive reports:
1, Use an application process to set your custom layout for interactive reports:
[ ] grant all on APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3 to {YOUR_SCHEMA_NAME};
[ ] Create an Application Process e.g. "Custom Report Layout" with constraint for request 'PDF' and Process Text:
declare
v_xsl varchar2(32767);
begin
v_xsl := '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''utf-8''?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
<fo:region-body region-name="region-body" margin-top="54.0pt" margin-bottom="54.0pt"/>
<fo:region-before region-name="region-header" extent="54.0pt"/>
</xsl:stylesheet>';
APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3.g_prn_template := v_xsl;
end;2, If you have some knowlege in Java change the sequnce of the the nodes in the apex_fop.jsp (or servlet), ie. changing the xsl before you use it for transformation.
The code depends on the solution you are using to parse the xsl string.
Hope this may help someone,

ALV report editable to enter text and print with including the text?
Hi all,
I have to display output of a report in ALV format and i have to make two fileds can be editable to enter texts by user and able to print the list with that texts .
Is it possible using standard Function modules or I have to go for OO methods? Please give the sample code ?
Thanks,
Vamshi

There is no printer output when using the PrintOut method
I have a VB6 app with CR XI, and a customer found a situation that when printing a report directly to the printer using the PrintOut method, there is no printer output or error message.
Some reports using the same code print normally, but a report that is preceded by another print call, presents this behavior.
And when the output is directed to the screen, we can see the report.
Could someone give me an idea of what is the problem?
Thanks,
Isis

The code used is below:
Set rpt = applic.OpenReport(App.Path & "SEFoto" + TipoRPT + ".rpt")
rpt.FormulaSyntax = crCrystalSyntaxFormula
rpt.FormulaFields.GetItemByName("Empresa").Text = "'" + Company + "'"
rpt.FormulaFields.GetItemByName("Idioma").Text = "'" + Idioma + "'"
rpt.FormulaFields.GetItemByName("Versao").Text = "'" + Versao + "'"
' ... Some lines to compose the selection formula
rpt.RecordSelectionFormula = Cond
' To evaluate the image length:
Arq = rsTMP3!FT_Arquivo
ImageScaling = FatorDeReducao(Arq, "F")
' To reduce the image length:
AchouOLE = False
For Each oSection In rpt.Sections
For Each oObject In oSection.ReportObjects
If oObject.Name = "PictureFoto" Then
Set oOleObject = oObject
AchouOLE = True
Exit For
End If
Next oObject
If AchouOLE Then Exit For
Next oSection
With oOleObject
.Suppress = True
.XScaling = ImageScaling ' 0.5 = 50%, 1 = 100%
.YScaling = ImageScaling
.Suppress = False
End With
Aguarde.Show 1
If DestinoRel = 9 Or DestinoRel = 1 Then ' Padrão ou impressora
rpt.PrintOut True ' <<<---- Here using true or false nothing happens
Else
PrintRPTtela rpt, "Fotos" ' <<<--- Here it works fine
End IfHi Isis,
Not sure if you have applied any service Packs to CR? If please do so and test again. Then you can upgrade to CR XI R2 for free, use your XI Keycode and download Service Pack 4 from this link:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100011802732008E/crxir2_sp4_full_build.exe
You'll find the distribution files for your app also from that same download area.
If you don't want to upgrade to XI R2 then download all patches from XI and test again. This issues rings a bell that it may have been fixed.
Thank you
Don
