Missing theme files

I'm opening a previously saved document and I'm getting this huge list of missing theme files. Any ideas how to fix?

It was installed from the App Store. I worked with tech support on the phone (2.5 hours) and we did not solve the problem, however, I encountered severe Keynote problems in the past and it was font related.
One of the first things I did when the problem started was to go to FontBook, select all the fonts and run a Validation. Then, the fonts with marked with an X, I removed. Unfortunately the problem continued and it seemed to be getting worse. Now, I couldn't save files without a warning coming up and I was losing the photos that were placed in the doc.
The tech had me do a safe boot, open a new user, etc. The new user worked but who wants to switch back an forth between users just to do a Keynote preso??
As is often the case when you are at your wits end, you go back over things you have already done. I went back to FontBook and ran the validation again. Much to my surprise all the X fonts were still there. Hmmm. So, I went in and manually deleted these varmints.
Problem solved. Now the corrupt files are still corrupt but I was able to create a new presentation, clean from errors.

  • Missing .dng file exists as Cr2. How batch designate them?

How the situation came about :
I selected all edited photos  (regardless of noted stars) in the library module and chose to all "convert them into DNG", with the option to NOT remoove the original Cr2 after conversion.
Lightroom stoped the process after 90 minutes / 80% donne; because of disk space shortage.
"Unfortunately" I then decided to simply delete all the just made dng's to start all over again, because this time I decided I should anyway only convert the 4 and 5 star rated images.
But in the process of converting within the library, Lightroom had thus of course also changed 80% of the image-names in its catalogue into "SameFileName+DNG!" extention, thuse making 80% of the files showing as missing (because i just deleted these dng's).
I have no problem to teach LR / designating  for instance "_MG_9999.Cr2" (+xmp) to be the target for the "missing" catalogue-file ""_MG_9999.DNG"  (incidently in the same folder).
BUT, even if I check the box to let Lightroom learn from this "new" path, it will NOT do so for the hundreds of images (those 80%) since it seems to consider that this extention mix I provoced changes the name entierly without taking into account that file Name have not actualy changed !  That means I have to re-atribute every single file manualy !  ?
Should there not be a way, for insatnce, to go into a (Win7) Lightroom catalog-folder and batch-rename the ('virtual') catalogue-files  ...DNG  into ...Cr2  ?
(I have no backup of the cataloge from just before I "converted" int DNG.)
I'd appréciate any help - or let Adobe know to develop "untangle" menus..)

If you have no backup, your easiest option is to create DNG files again - but maybe in smaller chunks so you don't run out of disc space.  Use the standalone DNG converter (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4724) to create the DNG files and put them back where LR's expecting to find them.

  • How do I re-attach missing Illustrator files

APOLOGIES FOR CROSSPOSTING FROM INDESIGN FORUM (where I have not gotten any responses):
Thanks in advance for reading this!
I am converting an InDesign document to ePub and mobi. The document also exists as a PDF file (which, as you may know, can not be converted effectively to ePub).
The InDesign file has been supplied to me with missing Illustrator .ai links for charts and graphs. There are lo-res  images in their places.
I could manually import individual charts from the PDF file  into Illustrator, but there are dozens of them and relinking will be a huge job as it is. Any suggestions on how to transform all charts and graphs in the PDF file to .ai files OR import them directly into InDesign?
    Many thanks

Thanks for your reply.  My replies are in line:
    1. how do you know the links are missing?
The "missing, click to relink" question mark appears in all InDesign charts and graphs. The ID links panel is all question marks.
    2. how do you know the there are lo-res images in their place? (are they named as such? is your page display set to 'highest')
When I create an epub or mobi file, the graphics are blurred, placeholders for the intended artwork.  I can anchor them, but they look pretty poor.
    3. can you contact whoever made the source files to acquire the missing files?
I have tried (and tried and tried). Alas, this is a pro bono job for a UN development agency in Beijing, and no one can figure out where the files are (even though I found the a complete directory path to where they should be on SOMEONE'S computer).
    4. you can PLACE the PDF pages diectly into indesign (crop to the charts) and then delete the lo-res files after using them as a reference for placement and size--yes a lot of work, but if you got to, then you got to.
At this point, if I can't come up with an alternative, I think it will be easiest to select each chart and graph from the PDF, then "edit using AI...", save them individually as AI files and relink them. I was praying for a more simple solution (other than finding those missing .ai files).
There is an extension, but it's $100 and I'll probably never need to use it again.  I'd spring for it if I was sure it would save me much time.
    Again, thanks for your reply.

  • I keep getting the error message "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode"

I keep getting the error message "Missing PDFMaker files  Do you want to run the installer in repair mode"when I try to convert a file into a pdf.  I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling but I continue to get the message.  I am able directly print file, but there are some errors in the pages, but some of them have font errors. Please advise.

    Hey Suzanne,
Could you please let me know what Acrobat version are you using and what kind of file are you trying to convert to PDF.
If you are using an MS Office application, then PDF Maker has to be an active plug-in for the PDF conversion.
Have you tried using Print to PDF option from the File menu for the same?
Please check and then let me know.

  • IWeb site update problem-app missing images/files, but site is ok

I created and uploaded a web site to my .mac (yeah, MobileMe) and it displays just fine. I have visited it from a couple of different comps. The problem is that I want to add/update files/pages, but when I open iWeb, several of the images/audio files do not display: shows a x-through and a centered question mark. They are in the sites idisk folder and in the laptop's copy of the files. When I try to replace the missing images/files by dragging onto the iWeb drafting page the following message appears: "the file can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it contains no content or was corrupted."
I'm afraid to make any updates for fear of losing what is already published.
Extra info: have family pack and am switching between .mac accounts because iWeb published to the iDisk corresponding to the account/sub-account you are logged into (BIG pain in the ***! It should have a password protected account toggle like Panther used). I have double-checked that the files for this site are only in the one iDisk account (am redirecting my masked domain url to the .mac iDisk server-works great.
    Any ideas?

The upgrade from '06 to '08 which changed the domain.sites to a domain.sites2 caused more confusion, disasters and lost web sites than the bug ridden introduction of '09.
I ended up rebuilding all my sites from new, blank domain files in '08 and the conversion to '09 went OK apart from '09's nasty habit of changing media file links.
Fortunately, I have very little QuickTime content and don't use the iWeb Photos, Albums Blog or Podcast templates.
Most iWeb built sites look pretty awful when users stick to the default page width. I start from a Blank, Black or white page and trash everything on it.
I use the "standard" 980 px page width and most, if not all, of the iWeb themes do not adapt to this.
This is why I constantly ask the question. "Do the iWeb developers actually build any websites with the application?".
Perhaps if they did, we would get more bug free releases and some of the features that "real life" users are requesting.

  • Pro Tools Missing  audio file message syndrom exists on Logic

I come from Pro tools and i am a bit traumatised by this fkn Pro Tools missing audio file message for those who know what i mean..
Is it something possible and frequent in logic when we work on a daily basis ?

No, you simply copy the entire project folder to a flash drive and bring it home. If you have included the audio files in the project folder, which logic does by default, logic will find them just fine at home. If it asks where they are, you just hit "search" and if they're there, If you've copied the song file to your drive without including the audio files ("pilot error") then  the program can't find them. Often, I get protools sessions from clients with missing files. Sometimes the entire audio files folder is missing, but more often the missing files are out-takes that are no longer part of the arrangement, and were still in the audio file list of the song, but were not included in the folder when the project was copied and brought to me. How or why, I cannot tell you.

  • Missing PDMaker Files

    Hi,
I am having a problem creating a PDF from multiple files.
Online resources were confusing to say the least .... I recently
upgraded to Office 2007 but saved files as older versions as Adobe
required it. However, when I try and create a PDF from multiple
    word files it says;
    "Missing PDFMaker Files"
    Run in Repair Mode
I run in repair mode, the system then re-boots but I STILL
have the same problem. I have tried it twice now .... doesn't seem
    to be doing anything ...
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks so much
    (Oh I have Adobe Professional).

Saturday, August 7, 2010 11:51:46 AM PDT I've used Acrobat Professional 8.1.4 for over 2 years and it worked fine but since I installed Microsoft office 2010 on my new Windo ws 7 system it gives me an error message:"Missing PDFMaker files" every time I try to create "PDF from a file" using Acrobat. I have been running "installer in repair mode" many times and it did not fix the problem. Then I uninstalled Acrobat several times a nd re-installed it and updated the files every time BUT it still won't work...the error message always comes up. Can you please help ? Answer from Adobe: I would like to inform you that your product Acrobat 8.0 is not compatible with Windows 7 and so it does not gets install properly in case if it gets install then few or many functionality may go missing. • New ITunes...systematically misses one file when updating TAGS of an album

With the latest version of ITunes (811) I am confronted with an annoying behaviour.
I like to have comprehensive TAGS when I import an album...proper GENRE, name of ARTIST, YEAR, album COVER and so on. So I always verify, and if necessary update the tags.
Now, with ITunes 811, it always misses one of the tracks from the list of tracks I want to change.Consequently, I need to select this track and perform the complete cycle of Tag editing again...twice as much work, and a genuine irritation.
    Any solution, known bug?
    Thank
    Patrick

Just wanted to add my 2 cents...
The original poster of this thread says it started on iTunes 8.11...well I'm using iTunes 10.1.2.17 and it's still doing it for me and has been for AGES. It is really frustrating. I highlight a whole album and add all the tag info because I am really pedantic about all of it being organized and all with proper names, artwork, etc.. Not every time but I'd say fluctuating between 50-100% of the time and normally about 90% of the time it will miss tag updates on one of the tracks. Normally the last one or towards the end of the album but it could be any, really. So what I do is I highlight the album, update the tags, click ok. Then before I even check if there's one track that didn't get the updates, I just immediately click 'Get Info' on all of them again and sure enough the tags will be empty on all the ones I just updated. This is because one track didn't get the updates so iTunes sees the selections as having one or more different values. So I put in all the values again. This could happen for any of the tags I update, including album artwork. So basically, when I do tag updates for an entire album I just always do the updates twice. I could search through and find the actual track missing the updates but I've found that this takes even more time. On the off chance that when I click 'Get Info' the second time and see that all the tags are updated I then jut hit cancel and move on, as I clearly don't need to put the tag updates a second time. But that hardly ever happens.
What's interesting is that before, without fail, one track would miss the updates and all the updates I did. So if I updated Artist, Album and Genre then one track would miss them all. Now sometimes the one track that missed the updates will pick up one or more of the tag updates but not all. This is actually more frustrating because it means when I highlight the entire album for the second time it gets confusing because my eye will quickly catch that some of the tags were updated, leading me to believe that 100% of the tracks caught the updates that first time but really if I look more closely I see that a couple of the tags didn't get updated.
There's actually a few buggy little issues like this in iTunes that I've noticed haven't gotten fixed over update after update after update of iTunes from Apple. I don't get it....
Also, why can't you add MULTIPLE artwork to more than one file at once? If you highlight an entire album and want to add the artwork for the front and back and CD of the album, then you have to choose one, and only one, picture which will obviously be the artwork for the front of the CD. Then, I used to manually go through all the tracks, go to the Artwork tab and then add the back or other CD artwork files. Now I just add the front artwork to all of them together, then click only the first track and add all additional artwork to only track one.
iTunes also has a little bug where many times after doing a search and it coming up with a list of music, such as "The Beatles", it will take about five seconds before it will let me scroll down the list and sometimes will take about five seconds before it will let me see the mouse pointer on the iTunes window. Anywhere else on either monitor I can see the mouse pointer but as I move it across the iTunes window it disappears until it pops out the other side as I keep moving my mouse.
I could keep going with this list but this thread is really only supposed to pertain to the first thread's topic so I've probably already said too much. We can't keep meeting up like this anymore or they'll find out.
    Anyway, so that's that...

  • Missing master files in Aperture

I am missing master files from Aperture 3. I rebuilt the library with no success.
Oddly, I can't even find them in Time Machine even though I know I exported versions of them. The entire month of imports doesn't ever appear in Time Machine even though I have proof that I used the master files to export in July. I haven't used Time Machine a lot so maybe I'm missing something.
    What else can I try.

Have you checked, if the missing masters are inside the Aperture Library package?
Sometimes Aperture looses the connection to managed masters.
You need to find out the exact date that you imported your images - you can find that information in the "Import Session" metadata tag - ad this tag to one of the metadata preset that you use to display the metadata in the info panel - set themetadata preset in the  info panel to "edit".
Then open the Aperture Library package (ctrl-click the Aperture Library in the Finder window) and select "Show package Contents". Inside the window that opens go to the "Masters" folder, then inside to the year , month, day you imported the images. Are the original master image files still there?
If yes, then make a backup copy of these images, to have a copy just in case, and try to repair the permissions in your library with the library first aid tools:
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
If you cannot reconnect the missing originals/masters this way, reimport the masters you found inside the library.
Please post back, once you looked inside the library, if the masters/originals are still there.

  • LR2.7 "Missing Sidecar Files" issue

    Hello,
    LR2-7, Win32 Vista:
in a folder of 182 photos within catalog of 16 k photos:
suddenly, most photos show in Library view and the stripline a top right corner question mark and icon stating "sicedar file missing". In Catalog preferences the checkbox for "automatically write changes to XMP files" is not set (was never set), the folder does not contain any other files than the photos:
    - in the beginning of this problem, these were cr2 files. It was then possible, to click on the icon/questionmark and trigger a dialogue "forget sidecar / continue?"  but only for single files, NOT for a selection on click - come on.
    - I converted the entire folder to dng files (my usual setting), NOW, the question marks all are still there, but NO dialog available any more on click.
    - I pressed ctrl-S to create a sidecar file - zero reaction, nothing. Is there a secret place for sidecar files I would have to know?
I can of course remove photos from the catalog, and re-sync - this cures the issue.
    - Up until now, I had a reliable catalog of approx. 16k photos - is this the end of it? I do do backups, but I can't afford a "sometimes" performance of Lightroom.
    - what do I do about development settings already done when removing /re-syncing photos to get rid of the icons and "missing sidecars" (I don't miss them, why does LR)??
Anyways, this issue pops up on the forum on 1.1 and 2.3 versions... any sugggestions how to go about this on 2.7? Is this a feature?
    thanks,
    Gerd

    Dear dj_paige,
    thank you for your note,
please see my comment to your email below in your text
DNG photos do not have sidecar files. So, their absence is not a problem.
    - I know, I never generated any sidecar files and understand that there should be none for DNG. However, for the CR2 files, LR displayed the prominent ? and tooltip "sidecar file missing", and this persists even after converting to DNG.
I'm not sure what problem re-synching will cure. I do not recommend you "remove photos from  the catalog, and re-sync", as you lose information that is catalog only (such as collection membership, edit history, color labels, pick flags and a few other things). In fact, I think it is a terrible idea.
    - agreed. For this reason, I sent a note to the forum
If your catalog within Lightroom is working properly (and you haven't really convinced me that there is anything wrong), then again I don't know what the problem is.
    - See above: for the CR2 files, LR displayed the prominent ? and tooltip "sidecar file missing", and this persists even after converting to DNG. Nothing else is wrong, HOWEVER, this icon and message is nonsense and should not be displayed
It sounds as if you are using the metadata as some form of backup of your catalog. It is not a backup; metadata enables you to share *some* information from your Lightroom with other applications. Other information in your catalog is not stored in the metadata written to files. The only way to create a backup of your catalog is to actually make a backup of the catalog file, which is a Lightroom option you can turn on. I consider making backups of your catalog file to be mandatory.
    - NO, your assumption is incorrect. I do backup the entire catalog file.
    Best regards,
    Gerd

  • Missing .xml files

As part of something identified by the FBI as a scam (called "Reveton"), I had my Safari page temporarily frozen (apparenly simply by substituting their selected page as my home page), and with a good deal of "hoop-jumping" to "unfreeze" my computer with the help of both ISP and Apple tech support, I am once again able to use Safari and other stuff seems restored as well, but I find my "Pages" documents can be read or accessed because they are missing their ".xml files". This apparently pertains only to those files , upgraded or not, which appear on my desktop without being in folder whether or not I've upgraded them to the new Mavericks status from the recent upgrade. I can create new documents without a problem.  This is an "advertisement" for using the new coud tool for automatic update, or somethign like it, which I do not ordinarily do. (Guess I'm gonna have to change my ways....)
Any ideas for a remedy or method of recovery, or do I just chalk this one up under the phrase "learning curve"?

The Pages and missing .xml files seem to have restored themselves, probably when I shut off the lovely thing when I went to dinner.  I can open the files that I could not open before. I've heard that these things clean and heal themselves; I think I just saw it in action.

  • Missing Theme(s)

I created a project in iDVD 7.1.2 (running OSX 10.6.8). I started with a plain theme, tweaked it the way I wanted and saved it as a favorite. Put the whole thing together just fine.
When I open the project again, I get the Missing Theme(s) error that other people have posted about. It supposedly cannot find the favorite I created. When I clicked OK the first couple times, the project opened just like it should, despite the message. I tried deleting the com.apple.iDVD.plist file but that didn't make any difference. But now, 2 days later, I get the message and it won't open correctly. Nothing has changed!
Also, when I open this project, or a new project, the theme I created always shows up in the list. So iDVD is finding it just fine but not connecting it to my project. Every time I do this in iDVD, I have similar problems. It's as if Microsoft wrote the program.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my themes?
    Thank you very much.

Unfortunatgely iLife 11 only provides iDVD 5-7 themes.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
However, if the older themes are already present in the iDVD folder in the library there should be a way to get them liked to the application.  I've not run across a solution that works for everyone except the above.

  • Missing master files...again.

Well Aperture has lost my master files again.
I keep them on an external HDD and backed up to another external HDD.
How to point Aperture in the right direction? (thousands of images)
    thanks

    Hello Steve,
    are you using Aperture 3.2.3?
Well Aperture has lost my master files again.
What was the reason the first time this happenend?
I keep them on an external HDD and backed up to another external HDD.
Is your external HDD connected and can you see the master image files in the Finder?
How to point Aperture in the right direction? (thousands of images)
    Launch Aperture
Select the images with the missing masters in the Browser
In main menu bar select "File -> Locate Referenced Files"
The window that appears has two panels:
In the top panel you select one of the images with missing masters
In the lower panel you select the correct master file on your external volume.
If these two match, then the "reconnect" buttons will become available. Press "Reconnect all" and Aperture should find the masters again.
To be alble to connect all at once you may wish to create a smart album containing all images with missing masters:
File -> New -> Smart album"
and add a rule "File status is missing" or "File status is offline"
    Good Luck

First, check your trash for an Aperture folder and make sure the files did not get removed somehow.
If the master images are not there, go to your Aperture library in Finder and right-click on it, selecting "Show Package Contents". Then find the projects you moved the images to, and also the project you moved the images from. Again, right click and "Show Package Contents".
Now that you are inside your library, look in the "import" folders - that s where all of your master files are stored. You can use Finder to search for them as well in the FInder window for each project.
When you find them, put them somewhere outside the Aperture library and use the "locate masters" command to re-link them, then use "Consolidate masters" to get them back in the library.
    Good luck!
