Mixer assignments problem with Reason
We have Reason 4 wired into Logic 8.02 via rewire as many separate tracks but when we installed Groove Agent 3 the track input assignments all changed and some of Groove Agents had taken over. This can all be re-assigned manually (time consuming..) but then the same problem happened again when trying to use the file on other computers. Disabling Groove Agent in the audio units preferences did not help and even when loading files that have no use of Groove Agent the assignments are wrong.
Installing Novation's Automap for their Remote keyboards also caused a similar problem. When you look at the input assignment menu on a mixer track you can see that Groove Agent and Novation's Automap now have menus of selections that have installed themselves above the Reason assignments menu.
What's going on? We can't keep on reassigning all these inputs all the time, they should remember what they were set on and keep those settings surely? Puzzled...
OK incase any kind soul was about to try and come to my aid, I've worked around the problem by duplicating all the affected tracks, re-assigning the new tracks back to the reason instruments they originally corresponded to (deleting the automation in the process) and then moving the original midi info and automation across to the new tracks. Still puzzled as to why this happened in the first place. Any light that can be shed would be appreciated.

SPM 5.2 - problem with reason/activity fields - not showing in the report
Dear experts,
I have a situation that is hard to describe.
We have SPM 5.2 - all set and working, now the problem is that for some of the FF sessions the tool is either not reporting the reason/activity fields (due to some technical problem that is occuring randomly) or the users have found a way to abuse the fields and make thier way around them. (these fields are very important for our SOX controls)
I have created test users to see how they are entering without filling the reason/activity fields, but no luck - i couldnt enter.
As you know the Activity field is mandatory text field and at least one character must be entered, but I don`t think this is the workaround, because even if you put space the report still will show it. I have examples where the report is not showing anything.
The worst is that I can`t simulate such cases.
Have you ever heard of such nosense?

IliyaI think I found it - Application deficiency. It is the language that you are logged with. If it is not English the application is not recording the text that you type in the reason/activity fields upon FF session.
I hope the latest patches are fixing this!

Reason Rewire - serious problem with timing / sync
Hi - here's the problem....
I rewire Reason 4.1 to Logic Pro 8.02.
I try to record a basic drum beat (played in via midi keys) into bar 1 of Logic's sequencer.
I quantize the beat and verify visually that on the very 1st beat of the bar there is a high-hat and a kick drum that should play at exactly the same time - however when I play the sequence back the high-hat is delayed for no apparent reason!! (if i am in cycle mode - after the cycle point is crosssed the kick and hi-hat ARE played together!). If i try to bounce this section the same problem is apparent. Thus making rewire really useless!! It's as if the 1st beat of the bar can only be monophonic or something!
The same thing happens if I record a chord from a Reason instrument (Thor perhaps) - the notes that should all sound in unison on the 1st beat of the bar do not play correctly.
Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this or is it another pathetic bug?I've had a slightly different but perhaps related problem with Reason in both Logic and Digital Performer. In my case using the Redrum drum machine in Reason and the pattern sequencer in Reason, when you start playback it will make kind of a cut-off squelch kick drum sound on beat 1, then complete silence for about 2 and a half beats, then the sound of the beat will kick in mid-measure.
I haven't done a lot of testing about when and where this happens in the sequence; I work around it by programming 2 measures of silence (pattern D-8 perhaps) into the Redrum before the start of the song and starting the playback from that. It seems like even doing that if you start playback at measure 1 beat 1 it will make that kick drum squelch on the first beat.
Sorry my comments are so vague as to be of little concrete help but I just wanted to point out that I've also had issues on starting up playback of drum beats in Reason when using it in ReWire mode. -

First off i would like to say hey to everyone as i am new so i hope someone out there can help me and me likewise in the future.
Onto my problem. I recently bought an Alesis Multimix 8 USB and i am having a few problems with my iBook recieving the left and right signals from the device. I am currently running it through Ableton Live however when it recognises the mixer it says that there is only one input, the left one.
For the work i am trying to do i would need the left and right inputs to act as seperate channels into Live. When i first bought the mixer it worked fine and Live read 2 inputs easily however now for some reason it has stopped seeing one.
I think it may be a problem with the audio software in OS X 3.9 but i am not sure, i am trying to repair what i can however it seems to me that the only option i may have would be reinstalling 3.9 again from scratch.
If anyone has any ideas about what could be wrong or how to get the 2 inputs back i would be very grateful.
Please help me as this is driving me mad!

I cannot pretend that I know anything about your subject but a couple of non invasive things you can try before resorting to a re-install. (Usually a last resort with Macs).
1) Have a look at Audio MIDI setup in your Applications>Utilities folder and see if there is a setting there that with resolve your problem.
2) Create a new user in System Preferences>Accounts.(always a good troubleshooting measure this, whatever the problem). Log out of your own account and into the new. Does the problem persist? If it doesn't there'll probably be a preference file somewhere to do with the device you are using.
If the problem does persist then it could be the unit itself, the lead (have you tried a different one/port?), or - worst case scenario- a hardware/sw problem with your iBook.
Not a lot of constructive help, I'm afraid, but some avenues to explore…

Downloading a file would normally bring up an option to open the file with the appropriate program or save it - for some reason now it just downloads straight to the download folder. Why? Problem with Firefox or something else? It's very frustrating - sometimes you want the file opened first so it can be discarded or saved to a different location.

Mail problem with long titles using utl_smtp / mixed content / attachements
Hello,
I'm having a problem with sending emails. The title as well as the body needs to be able to contain accented letters (é ç ...).
For the body i got it working.
And the title works fine too, untill the encoding passes a certain length, then goes all wrong and my mail header starts showing up in the mail body.
Could anyone help me in finding a solution?

When you use EXEC() AT, I would execpt to see an SQL string to be passed to EXEC(), but you are passing an XML string????

Mixing in Logic, problems with levels!
Mixing problem here: I can’t figure out how to get all my equipment/ software levels correct to get an accurate level/ sound. I use Logic Pro 7 on a Mac dual G5, my sound card is MOTU and my monitors (2) are Event 20/20 BAS. Here’s the problem I believe that something is too low and I am compensating in the somewhere else and I am getting distortion in my mix downs- but I can barely hear the song. Here are my levels/ gains:
Logic Main Mixdown track: 0.0 dB
MOTU Main out: -34 db
Event Monitors input level: 7 (max is 10)
My plug-ins and such are at the level that I load them at, I don’t mess with the gains on these too much.
Should I turn something down and turn something else up so that I can actually mix correctly? Thank you for your help!

I have the same problem as you. I have a dual 2.7 G5 mac using a PCI MOTU 424 with a 2408 mk3 interface. Before I updated my Logic software to 7.2, The audio seemed to work fairly deccently as far as levels. I even utilize a Presonus Digimax LT via adat pipeline into the MOTU which in the past has worked great to attenuate levels digitally and Logic and MOTU worked seemlessly BUT ever since the new intel revolution, I have noticed tons of problems with the universal version of Logic. So far I would say maybe at least 30 features doesn't work properly anymore with Logic 7.2 and 7.2.1. Seems like with each new updates, the version gets worse and worse with more problems for my G5 mac. Example, Bouncing audio. Several of my settings such as plugins, levels, crossfades getting skipped or ignored and at times even crashes. I also have other issues like cracks and pops in my audio recordings lately which really is beginning to **** me off to no end. My adat transfered audio has weird pops added to the audio when transfered digitally which it didn't do before. I also noticed several playback functions that are very unstable. Some of my song files wont even play back!! My levels are no longer accurate anymore when recording in Logic. I have to crank my presonus levels just to barely hear my guitar tracks being recorded which I didn't have to do in previous versions, which also means more hisses and noises added. Apple seriously needs to correct these issues with Logic especially when we have to pay for bad updates.
Scary thing is Logic 7.2.1 seems to run much smoother using the built in audio on my 2.0 intel macbook than my dual 2.7 G5 with my MOTU gear. -

If you're mixing in Logic, buy a FireWire audio interface. So many people make them, that it isn't funny. Personally, I'm a fan of M-Audio interfaces for a cheap, high quality device.
