Mm.cfg file for logging in flex web apps

Hi there,
I am developing a flex web application for which logging needs to be done.
What is found in my research so far is in web application logging can be enabled only when mm.cfg file is created manually.
I dont want client's to create this file.
I have two questions.
1. Is there any way or any logging library which can log without manualy creating this mm.cfg file?
2. Is there any control offered for creating custom log files (with particular naming convention, file size specification) for particular application.

I can always query the server for the verion and prevent loading from cach when a module needs to be updated
but I was hoping for something easy like the AIR auto update feature

I missed the file systemd uses to choose who's the process owner.
Course, I could edit /usr/lib/systemd/system/tor.service such that root will become the process owner; or, I could add the user I use everyday in the root group, then change the permission of /var/log/tor/debug.log such that it will be writable also for the folks in the root group.
Yet they both seems to be a bit unsafe ...
What is the best choice, to you guys?

I am attempting to deploy an application (.war file) using the Sun Access Manager Agent installed, (Reference http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3201/6n5eht3k4?a=view -near the bottom) and I get this error:

Note: The code was a straight copy/paste, so if there is any error in the code, it is because it's written incorrectly on the Sun doc website.

I recently used struts to develop a simple web applicaiton, and whenever I tried to use tag libs
such as /WEB-INF/struts-html.tld
/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld and
tried to compile it, it gives out compile error such as:
Error(52,21): Invalid element 'welcome-file-list' in content of 'web-app', expected elements '[taglib, resource-env-ref, resource-ref, security-constraint, login-config, security-role, env-entry, ejb-ref, ejb-local-ref]'.
if I remove the above tag libs, the jsp file compiles
without any problem.
Are you guys familiar with these problems?
please let me know if I'm doing anything foolish.

Unless some other elements tag are not close correctly this error does not make sense. Can you cut and paste your web.xml?

If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP. In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa. Best way to save an InDesign file for fast/highest res. web viewing

Help... I've got a 118 page InDesign file created in InDesign CS 3.0.1 that I need to prepare for viewing in a web page flipper program. I've saved as jpgs straight from InDesign and also as pdfs from Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional. Either works, but if I increase the resolution, the file loads too slowly. Good point. Early versions of ID didn't allow you to choose resolution for jpeg export though, as I recall, nor does ID have a very good reputation when it comes to jpeg export in any version. (Disclaimer -- I've never exported a jpeg directly from ID).
If you want jpegs, common wisdom is to export a good PDF, then rasterize and save in Photoshop where you have more control. Again, that part could be batched in Photoshop using an action.

Can not open file download prompt in portal web app.

Hi folks,
I am migrating existing Struts app into portal web app and currently stuck on the following problem.
In existing app, Struts action calls servlet that generates excel file, sets response headers:
response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment;filename=thename.csv");
that brings up "file download" prompt window.
In portal app, the same code writes excel file content into browser window instead of the prompt.
Has anyone had to deal with similar problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Problem is resolved. For those who might be interested - specifying redirect=true on forward to servlet did the trick.

From the error message, I recommend to check the things below:
Check if Word Viewing service is started in Central Administration. If it is started, stop and re-start it.
Check if the Word Viewing service proxy is created.
Check if the Word Viewing service proxy is associated with web application with issue.
If above cannot work, please check the ULS log for further research.

How to use vertical scroll browser in Flex web app?

I´m developing a web app with flex3. Web app has linkbar connected to a viewstack,
that contain inside a canvas that change the height property depending on the option
selected on the linkbar. My problem is that, when the viewstack resizes his canvas
and has the height property bigger than the resolution of the web browser, shows a
vertical and horizontal scroll inside de canvas. I need not to show the scrollbars
inside the canvas, I need to show the vertical scroll bar in the general container, I
think in application. I try to set the property verticalScrollPolicy to "off" in the containers
and "auto" or "on" in application. The containers don´t show now the scrolls bar and
application shows an empty vertical scroll bar. I would need to have an vertical scroll
bar working properly in application. Somebody could help me, please.

I could make it work by dragging them to the src folder.
That's exactly what you need to do. After all, they're source files
When you define "src" as the source directory, that's where the compiler will look for classes/packages.
So the package net.xyz.widgets.* resolves to src/net/xyz/widgets/

Is there a way to search for state in a web app then show results ?

So what i am trying to do is search my web app data, first step is i ask a question like I am after 4 machines or less, then i ask i am after 5 machines or more, then what i want to do is group the results by state/province then the total number where it be 2, 4, 5 ect click the number then show the results for the state selected.
Basically is there way to create your own search for a web app or are you basically left with what the system does ...

What Anjaneai also means to say is that Adobe has neglected to provide a Usage button for variables as they have for Advanced Actions and Library objects so that you can see exactly where they are used. This is a BIG problem when you have a lot of variables and AAs to search through.
By all means log an enhancement request and add your voice asking for this VERY necessary feature.

Recommended OPEN CURSORS setting for Oracle serving a web app

Hopefully Phil is still lurking here, so might see this. Or anyone else that knows about Oracle.
I've always thought the default for "maximum pooled statements" setting for an Oracle DSN - which is 300 - is way too low to be sensible for a web app (which, let's face it, any CF DSN is going to be used for!). I usually find I end up with it up around 1000-2000, depending on the sizeof the app, and how busy it is.
I'm adequate with monkeying around with Oracle, and have needed to do a moderate bit of that sort of thing in our dev environment, but I am by no means a DBA, so it's all very seat-of-the-pants.
So I'm keen to know what other people have their maximum pooled statements / open cursors setting set to for their Oracle-driven web sites/apps.
One of the reasons I'm asking is that I wonder if it might be worth while to suggest the default for CF9 is upped to 1000 or so..?

I personally would not set the limit any higher than 300, and I'd consider keeping it even lower.
Each pooled query / open connection is imposing resource-burdens on both the CF and the Oracle servers by creating what might be thought of as "a very crowded restaurant." Most of them are just standing around, but they nevertheless are occupying the restaurant, and the potential exists that every one of them might try to order a burger-and-fries at exactly the same time.
The "number of pooled statements" should be such that your SQL-server can actually handle that number of simultaneous requests, both in terms of active searches and of maintaining the still-open result sets. Beyond that point, incoming web requests should be forced to wait. Set an "occupancy limit" to your proverbial restaurant such that everyone could come in and be timely served at the same time.
Categorically, if you plot out response-time graphs about such things (SQL servers, virtual memory subsystems, and so on), they exhibit a fairly-linear performance curve up to a point, after which "the elbow- or knee-point is reached" and beyond that point it becomes exponential in a very, very bad way. I saw this happen in a batch-processing subsystem long ago on a very small mainframe: (yeah, I'm makin' these numbers up...)

It was just-about that bad. And what I did to (dramatically...) address the problem was to impose simultaneous-job limits on that subsystem. As long as the number of simultaneous jobs was constrained to "less than 3 at a time," a workload of 12 jobs could be reliably completed in (4 * 40) seconds, whereas if all 12 jobs tried to run at once, the computer would have reason to file a lawsuit for abuse.
