Hi all,
I have a webservice created from a function module. Now i have modified the function module. My question is do i need to create another webservice or the same webservice can be updated.
Thanks

  • How to write a Web service Handler without modifying the Web service code

    Hi,
    How can I write a SOAPHandler without modifying the Web service code. I want to add a generic handler which will take care of SOAPHeader for all the webmethods. To add a handler is it necessary to modify the web service code?

  • Problem making modified WCF web service operation compatible with old client

    Hi,
    I am trying to make a modified version of a a WCF web service work with old clients. The method signature looks like:
    [OperationContract]
    itemList GetItemList(getItemList param);
    I am adding elements to the "getItemList" class which should be optional. The class is generated from XSD schema with xsd.exe (this means we are using schema-first design). The new element is:
    <element name="itemOwner" type="string" maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0">      </element>
    and the new generated code in the getItemList class becomes:
    private string itemOwnerField;
    public string itemOwner
    get {return this.itemOwnerField;}
    set {this.itemOwnerField = value; }
    When I look at the new WSDL it has:
    <xs:element name="itemOwnerField" nillable="true" type="xs:string"/>
    Now I was expecting the old client to still be able to call the new client, since the new field is nillable. The client has a service reference to the old version of the web service so it uses a C# stub. When the old client tries to invoke the new service,
    I get error:
    The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:param. The InnerException message was 'Error in line 1 position 754. 'Element' 'itemIDField' from namespace
    'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/ServerBaseAPI' is not expected. Expecting element 'itemOwnerField'.'.  Please see InnerException for more details.
    My interpretation is that the server side of the new service cannot deserialize the incoming message since it expects it to contain itemOwnerField. Why it that, when it is nillable according to the WSDL? What can I do to solve or work around the problem?

    Hi gaor.mawell,
    The nillable attribute is a special attribute in the XML Schema instance namespace that provides an interoperable way to explicitly represent a null value. The receiving end can interpret these as
    null, zero, and null, respectively. There is no guarantee that a third-party deserializer can make the correct interpretation, which is why this pattern is not recommended. The
    DataContractSerializer class always selects the correct interpretation for missing values. So have you tried to use the DataMember's
    IsRequired property? this
    DataMember's
    IsRequired property tells the serialization engine whether the value of itemOwnerField must be presented in the underlying XML.

  • Which metadata fields can be modified via web services?

    I have searched the discussions and the documentation, but have not seen this answered comprehensively. What I would like to know is which fields can be modified using MergeTrack? The following are the ones I've gotten to work so far (entity name on left, iTunes field on right):
    Title = Name
    Comment = Comment
    ArtistName = Artist
    AlbumName = Album
    TrackNumber = Track #
    DiscNumber = Disc #
    CategoryCode = Category (but this will not appear in the Category column in iTunes)
    Can Genre be set? Or Show, Year, Season, Composer, etc.? Thanks.

    For the definitive answer, I always turn to the request XSD.
    Categories are only significant if you're in the process of expanding from a private/public site to "iTunes U in the iTunes Store". Otherwise applying category info has no real effect. In fact, applying category info is one of the things you do when you are "staging" for admission to the iTunes Store.
    The web service does not allow you to change genre, show, year, season, composer, etc. The only way to change that info is to modify it from within the iTunes application (or a similar tool).

  • Slow response when calling a web service from an ADF client in JDev 11g

    I have generated a web service (WS) for a stored procedure package with 3 functions. The WS has less than 1 second response times when I use the standard WS testing facility. I then created a data control for the WS selecting the default values in the JDev wizard. When I test the functions from a very basic ADF client the response times for the same functions are between 3-4 seconds i.e. very SLOW compared to the actual response time of WS. I need some advice on how to investigate this performance degredation as seen from the ADF client.
    Could the problem be that the data control was created from a web service in the same project? Maybe it is necessary to have them in separate projects or create a proxy?
    I created and tested the web service with the standard WS test tool and then simply went on to create a data control from this web service for use from a ADF client.
    Some background info:
    I saw the following warning in step 8 of the WS creation wizard:
    "The configured policy store location at "C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\gmds" is invalid. Application cannot read policies from this location. Check that the directory name is correct and the location exists."
    Also I can confirm that there is no j2ee directory in my environment.
    The application server logs the following for each call from the ADF client:

  • SocketTimeoutException when calling a web service from a WD application

    I'm trying to call a method of a web service from my WD application. The execution of the method longs more than 60 sec, so I'm always getting:
    Service call exception; nested exception is: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
    I've got this post, which tells to change the property "socketTimeout" of the client.
    Read Timed Out Error
    But I don't know what is the client in my WD application, does this refer to the logical port ?
    I've tried inserting this into wdInit:
    com.hesa.hesanet3.h3wsmodel.proxies.Hesanet3Impl service = com.hesa.hesanet3.h3wsmodel.H3WSModel.getServiceImpl();
    logicalPort =(com.hesa.hesanet3.h3wsmodel.proxies.Hesanet3ViDocument) service.getLogicalPort("Config1Port_Document", com.hesa.hesanet3.h3wsmodel.proxies.Hesanet3ViDocument.class);
    logicalPort._setProperty("socketTimeout", "30000");
    But it doesn't work.
    I've tried getting the logical port from the model object corresponding to the method of the webservice unsuccesfully.
    I've tried with Visual Administrator -> instance -> Web Service Container -> Settings -> WS Clients Socket Timeout, increasing to 120 secs. No result, still stop at 60s.
    I've tried with Visual Admin -> global configuration -> Http provider -> KeepAliveTimeout, increasing to 120 secs, and still stop at 60s.
    I can't change model object code, but I've tried to debug it and setting the property in stubForLogicalPort and in _getGlobalFeatureConfig(), without change.
    I'm using a HTTP Destination, does this have something to do?
    I'm getting insane with this and I'm in urgent need of help.
    How can I change the time the WD waits for the WebService to answer ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Parameter passing for custom web service reports

    <p>Hi,</p><p>I created a report file and published it as a .Net web service. I was able to set the web service to a report viewer in my windows application. I am using Crystal Reports Version 11 R2 and Visual Studio 2005 for my development.</p><font size="2" color="#008080">ReportWebService</font><font size="2"> service = </font><font size="2" color="#0000ff">new</font><font size="2"> </font><font size="2" color="#008080">ReportWebService</font><font size="2">(); </font><font size="2"><p>crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = service;</p></font><p>Now, my question is how do I pass a parameter from the windows application to the custom report web service. It does not seem to accept any paramters through constructors or other custom web methods.</p><p>If I need to change my design or approach, I am welcome to that as long as I am able to host the report file on a central location. The .rpt file (exposed by the web service) does not have any parameters but the data population logic inside the web service might be based on some conditions which I need to pass as parameter.</p><p>Thanks in advance.Regards, Gulzar</p>

    <p>When using a Report Web Service, you must use the Viewer&#39;s SDK to interact with the report. So in your case, if you want to pass parameters to the report, the viewer exposes a ParameterFieldInfo property that you can set. You can download samples on how to do this or check out the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2SP2/en/devsuite.htm" target="_blank">DevLibrary</a> for more details.</p><p>However, one of your last statements you said your report does not have any parameters but your web service does.....could you elaborate on that?  Did you modify the .asmx that is autogenerated to add/modify the web service methods?  If so, then you will not be able to pass parameters to the new/modified web service.  The autogenerated web service for the report cannot be modified in this way since the viewer is designed to use the web services methods as-is.   In other words, the viewer is the only client/consumer of the Report Web Service so any interaction you want with the report must be done through the viewer, if the viewer exposes the functionality.  </p><p>In general, because the viewer is the only supported consumer of the Report Web Service, there are many limitations to interacting with the report.  Depending on how much control you want over the report at runtime, you may not want to use Report Web Services.  If you want to centralize reports for a Windows application, your best option is to load the reports from a network share using a UNC path when loading the report.  Of course, this assumes your application is running from some kind of internal network.  Any other kind of solution to centralized reports would require a web-based solution.</p><p>If you must use a Windows application, then you could host a IE control on your form that accesses a web page that displays reports but then you would have to develop and support a web application in addition to your windows application.  It&#39;s not the best solution but it&#39;s an option!  :-)</p><p>-MJ</p>

  • ATG - Axis integration for existing web services

    Hello,
    I am currently using the web services as defined in the ATG2007.1/DPS/WebServices/userprofilingWebServices.ear
    I have a need to extend this to do pre-processing before hitting the getProfileId and my understanding is that I need
    to use a Handler to do so. But when I try to modify the web service by trying to point to my own Handler in the
    webservices.xml file with:
    <handler>
    <handler-name>com.mycompany.security.RemoteIPHandler</handler-name>
    <handler-class>com.mycompany.security.RemoteIPHandler</handler-class>
    </handler>
    this handler doesn't seem to be registered (the change is in the JBoss 4.0.5)
    and is never called. Does anyone have experience trying to use a Handler for
    the out-of-box user profile web services? Am I even modifying the correct file/layer?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    If you have SOA Suite licenses, then you can use OSB. OSB provides support for REST.

  • Cannot call web service methods -  ClassCastException

    Hello,
    my WD application is consuming an adaptive web service.
    In the wdDoInit() of my custom controller I call the method "Request_GetProject"...

    Hi Friend,
    I think you are refering to a wrong structure/table name when the exception is thrown. Same structure/table names can exist for more than one model. Please just bring the cursor of the structures to view the exact fully qualified name for the structure on hover.

  • Modify an RFC called by Web Service

    Hi SAP Gurus!
    Simple question, for you at least, not for me...
    I created an RFC, I created the related Web Service using the wizard and also the WSDL... and all worked correctly!
    After I modified the RFC: I changed a parameter table used for import/export adding two more fields.
    I think I have to publish the Web Service again, but I don't know how to modify it. Can you help me?
    Have I also to generate the WSDL again?
    Thank you, regards!

    Hi,
    yes, you shd regenerate the WSDL to effect the changes.
    you can also modify the WSDL already created if you know how to do it. or else just regenerate it.

  • How can I o create, modify or delete users using OIM 11g web services?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to create, modify or delete users using OIM 11g web services.
    The end users will be signing on to the online application, a user interface to request ids online. The user interface is the home grown application to request ids.
    I want to integrate this user interface with OIM 11g. I generated the java classes using the out of the box wsdl file as mentioned in the Developer’s Guide for Oracle Identity Manager 11g. But I need to know how to create users using web server client from a given wsdl file? Is there a sample web service client program to create a user in OIM?
    If you know of any document which I can follow or if you can give any details I really appreciate.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Viraf

    Hi Chong,
    Were you able to figure out the approach? I am facing the same issue like this. I have created a web service where the input values are no. of days to extend user's end date and user's employee ID. Output will be true or false. But I am getting error while searching user in OIM DB. I think my web service is not to query OIM DB
    Please let me know if you have worked on this senario.
    Thanks,

  • Modifying properties with a file for Web Service Stub used for Oracle Forms

    I have created a stubbed-out web service in JDeveloper (10.1.3.4) and imported into Oracle Forms.
    However, I would like to use a properties file to call the appropriate endpoint based on if the environment is dev, test, UAT or prod. I see that a properties file is referenced in the _Stub class. Here is a snippet of code from that class file:

    super(handlerChain);
    setProperty(ENDPOINTADDRESS_PROPERTY, "http://epw-01.gds.graebel.com:8087/CriticalChange.svc/Soap11");

  • Error while deploying a web service whose return type is java.util.Date

    Hi
    I have written a simple web service which takes in a date input (java.util.Date) and returns the same date back to the client.

    I read somewhere that the conversion between java to xml datatype and vice versa fails for java.util.Date, so it is better to use java.util.Calendar. When I change the code to return a java.util.Calendar then the JDeveloper prompts me the following failure:
    Method Ping: the following parameter types do not have an XML Schema mapping and/or serializer specified : java.util.Calendar.
    This forces me to return a String data.
    I would appreciate if someone can help me out.
    Thanks
    Sachin Mathias
    Datamatics Ltd.

    Hi
    I got the web service working with some work around. But I am not sure it this approach would be right and good.
    I started altogether afresh. I did the following step :
    1. Created an Interface (Ping.java) for use in web Service as follows :
    public interface Ping extends Remote{
    public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest)
    throws RemoteException;
    2. Implemented the above interface in PingImpl.java as follows :
    public class PingImpl implements Ping
    public java.util.Date ping(java.util.Date pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
    System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
    return pingDateRequest;
    3. Compiled the above 2 java files.
    4. Generated a Stateless Java Web Service with the help of JDeveloper. This time the generation was sucessful.(If I had "java.util.Calendar" in place of "java.util.Date" in the java code of the above mentioned files the web service generation would prompt me for error)
    5. After the generation of Web Service, I made modification to the Ping interface and its implementing class. In both the files I replaced "java.util.Date" with "java.util.Calendar". The modified java will look as follows :
    Ping.Java
    =========
    public interface Ping extends Remote{
    public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest)
    throws RemoteException;
    PingImpl.Java
    ================
    public class PingImpl implements Ping
    public java.util.Calendar ping(java.util.Calendar pingDateRequest) throws RemoteException {
    System.out.println("PingImpl: ping() return datetime = " + pingDateRequest.toString());
    return pingDateRequest;
    6. Now I recompile both the java files.
    7. Withour regenerating the Web Service I deploy the Web Service on OC4j 10.0.3 from JDeveloper. This time the deployment was sucessful.(The Deployment fails if I don't follow the step 5.)
    8. Now I generated a Stub from JDeveloper and accessed the stub from a client. It works fine. Here if you see the Stub code it takes java.util.Date as a parameter and returns a java.util.Date. (Mind you I am accepting a java.util.Calendar and returning the same in my Web Service interface. Step 5)
    The confusing thing is the Serialization and Deserialization of Data from Client java data to Soap message and Soap message to Server java data.
    From Client to SOAP :
    java.util.Date to datetime
    From SOAP to Server :
    datetime to java.util.Calendar
    From Server to SOAP :
    java.util.Calendar to datetime
    From SOAP to Client :
    datetime to java.util.Date (I am not able to understand this part of the conversion)
    Any help or inputs would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Data Federator - Array as input to web service.

    Hi,
    I have an ASP.NET web service method that takes in an array of string for input. I am adding this web method as a data source in Data Federator. However when I look at the method's parameters in Operations Selection in Data Federator, the array of string becomes a string. It seems that Data Federator only passes one element value as an array to the method. Is there any way for Data Federator to see the array correctly so that I can pass an array of string to the web method via Data Federator?
    Thanks.

    hi,
    Data Federator does not support array types as input parameters. For the moment there is no Data Federator workaround for this limitation (the only possibility is to modify the WebService definition).
    thanks.

  • The -dataSource parameter in assemble a web service from a PL/SQL package

    When I use Web Service Assembler to assemble a Web Service from a PL/SQL package, I need to specify the dataSource parameter, e.g.:
    java -jar wsa.jar -plsqlAssemble -sql pkgname -dataSource jdbc/MyDS -dbConnection ... -dbUser scott/tiger ....
    The dataSource also needs to be pre-configured in the data-sources.xml in OC4J.
    I am wondering why dataSource is needed here because the database connection information is already specified on the commandline ( dbConnection and dbUser).
    If I have to specify dataSource, how do I configure data-sources.xml dynamically at run-time (e.g., adding entries)?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    The -dataSource parameter specifies the data-sources.xml entry used at runtime. The database connection info is only for design time use. Typically you make sure data-sources.xml contains an entry with jndi-location of the same name you specifies for -dataSource. To configure data-sources.xml at runtime, it is out of the scope of web services. Please refer to OC4J admin guide. You can probably modify the data-sources.xml file and force OC4J to reconfigure based on the new data-sources.xml file.
