Modifying jag-config.xml

In JHeadstart 11g I want to be able to modify some of the values in the jag-config.xml file (want to point to my custom common_labels template).
Is is safe to edit this file directly ? I assume this will get overwritten if JHeadstart re-enabled on my application. I always ensure I use custom templates but in this case am not sure how to get the generator to use my common_lables template without editing the jag-config.xml ?
Cheers,
Brent

Brent,
You are correct, to use a custom macros file, you need to edit jag-config.xml. It is the only type of customization that needs to be re-applied after re-enabling JHeadstart.

  • Config.xml doesn't get updated in WLW

    Hi,
When I try to update the server port number in the Weblogic Workshop console (via
Tools -> Preferences -> Path -> Port), I was unsuccessful in achieving that. I
changed port number from 7001 to 7010. This doesn't modify the config.xml. When
I start the samples server, it tries to start the server in the same port (i.e.,
7001) causing bind exception. Is this something to do with configuration file
not being updated. Am I getting wrong somewhere?
    Any thoughts on this?
    Thanks,
    Arul

    Hi Arulazi,
Adding to Michael Wooten's post, the change you make (via the Tools ->
Preferences -> Path -> Port) only changes the port number to which Workshop
connects to. This will be used when you want the same IDE to connect to
    different workshop enabled WebLogic Servers.
This change will not be reflected in the config.xml file.
The information will be updated in the .workshop file found in the
    C:\Documents and Settings\username directory.
If you want to change the listen port for the server you will have to edit
it via the server console at http://localhost:7001/console
    Hope this helps.

I don't think it does anything to the config.xml. It only tells Workshopwhich

Again, unless you've actually seen some documentation that states thatperforming

  • Any config.xml fields not viewable/editable in admin console?

While reading through the WL 10.3 docs, I discovered something very unexpected. There are some attributes that you can define in the config.xml that are not viewable or editable in the admin console. I found this in the "Programming WebLogic JTA" manual. The attributes in question are "MaxResourceUnavailableMillis", "MaxResourceRequestOnServer", and "MaxXACallMillis" in the JTA section.
Is this unique? Are there other elements or attributes that can only be viewed or set in the config.xml, and not in the admin console?

  • Voluntary change of struts-config.xml

Why does JDev 10g change struts-config.xml file without programmer being aware of it?? It's the dumbest thing I have ever seen

I have this very same issue and agree that it is some of the oddest ide behavior possible. For instance, we use a struts forward, <forward name="success" path="/binaryFile"/>, of binaryFile to a servlet to display a dynamically created pdf in a browser. Sometimes, and I am not sure why, JDeveloper will modify struts-config.xml such that it will remove the binaryFile forwards, which results in complete application mis-configuration. Or, and this one is my least favorite, JDeveloper will edit the binaryFile forward by attaching .jsp to binaryFile such that it looks like this, <forward name="success" path="/binaryFile.jsp"/>, again causing application mis-configuration. My only guess is that JDeveloper does not see an extension like .do or .jsp and thinks it is doing the right thing by updating it for you. Has this been resolved in the latest version of JDeveloper?

    I tried

this works. If i do that with the wrong domain (dep_cotrol vs dep_me) name it fails with

  • How to stop WL 7.0 to modify config.xml file

As said, weblogic has two modes, PRODUCTION and DEVELOPMENT, if set to PRODUCTION
mode, weblogic startup will not deploy any application and you should use console
or deployer tool to deploy them manually. But, if I start it in PRODUCTION mode,
the first it does not deployt any application and startup very quickly, but, if
I manually deploy any application, weblogic server will also modify config.xml
and my next startup will deploy all the applications since they are specified
in config.xml, and the startup time will be much longer. How could I stop weblogic
server from doing this? I want production mode but I want to keep my original
    config.xml untouched.
    Thanks

    To change this behavior:
In Skype go to "Tools" - "Options" - "IM Settings" -  uncheck "Automatically accept incoming files" OR under "When I receive a file...." select "choose a folder to save the file in every time.

  • Is it a reasonable idea to modify config.xml directly?

I'm curious about something. We have several steps the our users have to
perform to install our enterprise app on WebLogic. If I wrote a program
that would modify config.xml to add our data sources, connection pools,
custom realm, caching realm, etc., is there anything to watch out for? Will
we risk breaking other enterprise apps on the same server?
In general, what do other folks do about deployment to WebLogic? Is there a
secret trick to making it less complicated?

    Hi Eric
There are 3 approaches to do this:
    (1) Using Admin Console of WebLogic Server. This is the safest way to do
this. However, this has to be done manually.
    (2) Using JMX API to do it. This is also safe but you need to familiarize
    with JMX API.
    (3) Edit the config.xml directly. This is the riskiest option among the
    available 3 options.
    Hope this helps.
    thanks

    Hi Venu,
Normally if you can see the UCM content in the admin console, it means the adapter is configured correctly and the placeholder should work. There's a couple of things I can suggest:
    1. Did you include the oracle-ucm-spi-app-lib.ear file in your project as documented under the heading Add a Reference to the UCM VCR Adapter Shared Library in the UCM VCR adapter installation docs ( [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/ucm_adapter/install.html|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/ucm_adapter/install.html] )?
    2. Browse to a document in the repository in the admin console. Pick one of the fields there (e.g. IDC:Folder.dDocId), grab the value and run a query using the placeholder. Do you get a single result?
    3. The original poster (user8867138) mentions a query along the lines of returning all folders that has dDocAuthor = sysadmin. If your UCM system had 10,000 folders all created by sysadmin, the adapter might be timing out? IIRC, you can adjust the timeout in UCM.
    4. Did you try a similar query using Content Selector instead?
    5. If the WLP server domain is running on a separate machine, is UCM configured to accept connections from the WLP server but not your machine?
I would suggest getting the latest patches for WLP too as some of them are related to the UCM VCR adapter.
    Cheers,
    Cappa

  • Where can I find the config.xml file for my Edge project?

Or is that a nonsensical question?
Basically, I am producing a very simple iPad app using Edge and PhoneGap Build. It's all good to go apart from the orientation - I want to be able to lock it to portrait. On researching, it appears that I need to specify the web build/app as portrait in the config.xml file - so where would I find this?
    Thanks!

I am not familiar with the phonegap process but I suspect the file you should be attempting to modify is called manifest.xml.
Example, see someone else's solution posted here. jQuery Mobile lock orientation - Stack Overflow

  • Updating defaultTimeout in adf-config.xml through WLST

    Hello,
I hope i have this in the right area. I'm cross posting because I think I put it in the wrong place originally. If I get an answer, I'll cross link the two.
I'm trying to change the default, min and maximum timeouts for portlets that come from our WSRP portlet producing application. The documentation I found on the time outs says to edit adf-config.xml 1 and when editing the adf-config.xml do that via WLST ^2^.
    1) portlet time out: [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/core.1111/e10108/webcenter.htm#BABIGHDC|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/core.1111/e10108/webcenter.htm#BABIGHDC]
    <adf-portlet-config>
    <defaultTimeout>5</defaultTimeout>
    <minimumTimeout>2</minimumTimeout>
    <maximumTimeout>100</maximumTimeout>
    <adf-portlet-config>
    2) editing adf-config.xml: [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_config_files.htm#WCADM5019|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_config_files.htm#WCADM5019]
I can not find the MBean in the bean browser that seems to hold this setting.
There is a bit of a conflicting message in the docs though. "If you must modify these properties, post deployment, you must edit adf-config.xml manually." But the doc that describes editing adf-config.xml says that using WLST are
    So... Questions:
    1) Are these three elements (defaultTimeout, minimumTimeout, and maximumTimeout) some exception to being set from WLST?
    2) If not, what is the MBean I should find this setting in?
    Thank you very much,
    Marc

    Marc,
This is just a guess(have'nt done this), but I think the settings are not an exception, and you should be able to find the MBean here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_intro.htm#BHCCJJED
This section of the doc seems to walk through an example setting properties in adf-config.xml
I would interpret those instructions in the official doc to mean :
    1. If you don't mind changing this at deploy time and re-deploying(like we do when we're in deep development), you can change this and redeploy.
    2. If you have a deployed application, you can make changes through WLST. But keep in mind that the changes you make through WLST will not be overwritten later when you change the adf-config in Jdev and redeploy.
(This lets you fine tune the timeouts for specific environments. ex: bigger timeouts for dev envs hosted with smaller resources/unstable un-optimized code, rather than guess a timeout that works for all environments )
Now comes the conflicting parts :
"If you must modify these properties, post deployment, you must edit adf-config.xml manually."
I think, they mean "manually using WLST". This can probabaly be done with both WLST commands and the MBeans.
Now once you make these changes to a deployed application, the changes you made are stored in MDS. This means that this "tuning" will survive a re-deployment.
    So if we :
set the timeout to 1 minute initially at design time,
then change that to 5 minutes through WLST,
and then edit adf-config again in Jdev to a 10 minute value and redeploy,
the MDS still has the 5 minute value, and it will overwrite the 10 minute value we set later at design time and redeployed.
MDS documents are always applied on top of the deployed stuff.
The doc you refered to : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_app_config_files.htm#CHDGEDGJ
does make a good explanation of how the changes persisted in MDS affects the final configuration.
    Hop that helps !

  • [svn] 2716: SDK-15848 - Conditional compilation constants defined in flex-config. xml are never used if a single constant is specified on the command line

    Log Message:
SDK-15848 - Conditional compilation constants defined in flex-config.xml are never used if a single constant is specified on the command line
    * There's a possibility this will break a conditional complication test which disallows overwriting an existing definition -- I don't know if that will break the build, but the test should be removed either way.
    * Using append syntax ("-define+=" on the command line or ant tasks, or append="true" in flex-config) and redefining a value works now if you use an already-defined namespace and name.
    * So your flex-config may have -define=CONFIG::debug,false, and you may want -define+=CONFIG::debug,true from the commandline build, or FB build.
    * Made the ASC ConfigVar fields final as a sanity check since overwriting is now allowed. It would be harder to track changes and subtle bugs if they were mutable. This means that you must build a new ConfigVar object if you need to make changes.
    Bugs: SDK-15848
QA: Yes. Please read the updated javadocs in CompilerConfiguration. Tests need to be added to validate that overwriting is allowed, and happens correctly in different situations: I believe the order should be that flex-config is overwritten by a custom config (can we have more than one user config? is the order deterministic? I forget...), is overwritten by commandline or OEM. Did I miss any? (I didn't write code which changes this, it works however the existing configuration system allows overwriting and appending; if we have tests for that, maybe we don't need them duplicated for this feature.)
Doc: Yes. Please read the updated javadocs in CompilerConfiguration.

  • Sun-faces-config.xml

Hi - Is there a way to distribute component metadata in sun-faces-config.xml over more than one file?
I have multiple components and all the metadata combined is resulting in a HUGE file and its getting quite tedious to modify it.
    Any suggestions?
