Modifying the snap_leve in awr report

Hi
Oracle Version: 10g R2
select distinct snap_level from dba_hist_snapshot;
SNAP_LEVEL
1
I want to change the snap_level to 5.
How can I do this ?
Also I want to know what value does each snap_level has ?
Regards
Vinitaa

You can modify the snapshot collection interval using the dbms_workload_repository package.
The procedure dbms_workload_repository.modify_snapshot_settings is used in this example to
modify the snapshot collection so that it occurs every 15 minutes, and retention of snapshot data
is fixed at 20160 minutes (exactly 14 days):
-- This causes the repository to refresh every 15 minutes
-- and retain all data for 2 weeks.
exec dbms_workload_repository.modify_snapshot_settings -(retention=>20160, interval=> 15);
Setting the interval parameter to 0 will disable all statistics collection.
To view the current retention and interval settings of the AWR, use the DBA_HIST_WR_
CONTROL view. Here is an example of how to use this view:
select *
from dba_hist_wr_control;
DBID SNAP_INTERVAL RETENTION
2139184330 +00000 01:00:00.0 +00007 00:00

  • Updating AUD$ consumes most of the time in AWR report.

    Hi All,
    It's really good to see, great people passing their help to folks like us and making our life easier. Going forward,I am investigating on of the performance issue and analyzing the AWR report. By looking AWR, I did find updating aud$ taking most of times in AWR report. Following are the information , I extracted from the database and AWR report. Please see, what can be done to take away the bottlenecks.

    Audit Size
          2469Regards

    Before purging audit data I would suggest two things. First what is the time period for the report in question? If it is for a low usage period then the audit activity as a percentage of the overall load may be a bit distorted. It may also be worth checking to see what information the audit captured as you could have a contractual or legal obligation to capture the data.
    Second and most import look to see what audit rules are in effect. By just removing a few unneeded rules such as auditing successful logins/logoffs or changing from by access to by session for specific objects you could potentially remove most of the activity being shown.
    You may also want to check to see if a purge job has been set up. See dba_scheduler_jobs and Oracle proviced package: DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT.

  • Can I modify the name of UUT report

    Hi, I am a new one of TS! Can I modify the name of UUT report? Who can help me. Thanks in advance!
    Under Normal Circumstances, I finish the UUT test,TS generating the report like this"Report[4F492CAB04][13 29 06][2012-11-28].html".
    Can I modify something,When TS generating report will like this"Report[4F492CAB04][13 29][2012-11-28].html" without the seconds!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Ivrat, Thank you for your reply! This way can modify the name of UUT report certainly!
    But, it is difficult to me deal with deleting seconds when use functions(like SerachAndReplace) !
    In these days I also find another way to solve this problem and I think your way much better than mine! Can you show me more details about use functions to solve this problem!
    My way show as below:
    1.Find this file"SequentialModel.seq". The path is"C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\TestStand 2010\Components\Models\TestStandModels" .
    If you are using TS2012,the path is"C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\TestStand 2012\Components\Models\ModelPlugins\NI_ReportGenerator.seq"
    2.You can find "Determine Report File Path Expression"
    3.Use function Left(Time(),5)

  • How to Modify the Selection Screen in Report Painter

    Hi All,
    I am working on Report painter and writer,
    can any body helpme how to change the selection screen i.e i want add some more  select options to the exisiting roport .
    how can i  add more select options to the exisiting one
    please let me know the Procedure and provide some relevent documents .
    Thanks and Best regards.
    uma

    Hello...
    In the program ...we can find the following chunk of code..
    selection-screen:begin of block B1 with frame title text-001.
    Parameters : ....
    select-options:.....
    selection-screen:end of block b1.
    if we need to add any more user inputs we can write the code inside the existing
    selection screen....end of block .
    or create a new block ..just the block name should be different...
    if we are using select options...we need to declare the table name using the key word for the field on which we are giving select options ....
    Tables : BSIK.
    Please see the following code:
    Imagine :- we have the current selection screen..
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B1 WITH FRAME TITLE TEXT-001.
    PARAMETERS: P_BUKRS LIKE BSIK-BUKRS DEFAULT SPACE.
    SELECT-OPTIONS: S_LIFNR FOR BSIK-LIFNR.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B1.
    we need to add 2 more fields on the selection screen ..this we can do as the following
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B1 WITH FRAME TITLE TEXT-001.
    PARAMETERS: P_BUKRS LIKE BSIK-BUKRS DEFAULT SPACE.
    SELECT-OPTIONS: S_LIFNR FOR BSIK-LIFNR,
                    S_HKONT FOR BSIK-HKONT.
    PARAMETER: P_DATE LIKE BSIK-BUDAT OBLIGATORY DEFAULT
               SY-DATUM.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B1.
    OR...create a new block...
    SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B2 WITH FRAME TITLE TEXT-002.
    SELECT-OPTIONS:   S_HKONT FOR BSIK-HKONT.
    PARAMETER: P_DATE LIKE RFPDO-ALLGSTID OBLIGATORY DEFAULT
               SY-DATUM.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B2.
    there are many options available in selection screens..like creating check box,radio button etc..
    for more info press F1 help on the Selection screen in the ABAP editor
    Revert back if not clear and reward if helpful

  • Modifying the width of the DESNAME system parameter in Reports 6i

    This is probably so simple so I apologise for posting it here but I've been asked to look at an error with an Oracle Report (Reports 6i) (I've never really used Reports).
    When attempting to run the report, we get the following error :
    REP-0091: Invalid value for parameter 'DESNAME'.
    I think this is because the runtime value supplied for the DESNAME parameter exceeds the width property defined in the report. However, I cannot seem to modify the width property in Report builder.
    Can someone tell me how to modify the width property for the DESNAME system paramter ??

    Hi!
    I don't think it is possible to increase its width. It's a system parameter which can have several pre-defined or user-defined values. Check the documentation or help regarding this.
    Also, I think you can check several things.
    1. Check "Report Triggers" if any. DESNAME can be modified there. Menu item "Program" --> "Find and replace in PL/SQL..." can help to search the code.
    2. But more likely, incorrect value of DESNAME is passed into report from a calling module or batch script, or whatever. It can be a RUN_PRODUCT call in forms, or RWRUN60 in script. Check DESNAME there.
    3. Try to debug. Use srw.message to display DESNAME value at report startup, for instance in "before parameter form" trigger.

  • Backup awr reports !!

    Is it possible to back up old awr reports? If the answer is yes How ?

    Hi,
    If the intention of the backup of AWR reports is to compare them with the reports when performance deteriorates then you might consider creating a baseline when you think your database is performing well.
    exec dbms_workload_repository.create_baseline(start_snap_id => your_snap_id,
    end_snap_id => your_snap_id,
    baseline_name => ' my database is doing well');

  • VO Extension Error in modifying the query of XML Publisher Report Template

    Hi Friends,
    I have one requirement related to calling XML Publisher Reports Template from OAF Page.
    When clicking on the submit button the XML Publisher template is calling and displaying the data.
    Our requirement is to display some more columns in the XML Publisher Template and display the data.
    As according to OAF stndards,whenever we need to add new columns for display or SELECT purpose,
    we will do the VO Extension. So we modified the query by adding the new additional colums in the standard VO.
    I am able to retrieve the data from the SQL DEVELOPER. But when doing the VO Extension process and
    calling the template from the OAF page its throwing the following error.Please suggest me some alternatives
    to fix the issue.

    Venkat,your answer is much simpler If the OP knows there is a tcode Se93, what if he/she does not know it??
    P.S: Just a thought.

  • Understanding the AWR report

    Hello,
    Just to start off on the right path I would like you to know that I am a Java developer trying to understand the AWR report. To give a quick overview of my problem :
    I have built a load test framework using JMeter and trying to send SOAP requests to my weblogic server. Each of these requests are getting converted multiple Insert, Update and Merge statements and getting executed on the Oracle 10g productions grade DB server. When I run the AWR report, under the "SQL ordered by Executions (Global)" I see statements that have run for 2 billion times. The JDBC connection to the database is configured to have a maximum of 40 connections and I do not see all of them being used up. The issue now is I am NOT generating that kind of load yet. I am creating around 15000 SOAP requests in an hour and I am expecting around 1million records to hit the database. The test runs fine for a couple of hours and then the server starts failing because the database is not responding back properly. When I run the statistics query on tables "gv$session s, gv$sqlarea t, gv$process p" to get the pending sessions in the database I have seen anywhere between 30 - 62 pending sessions with a activity time of more than 300 minutes.
    I am sure I am not sending in 2 billion requests from the LoadTest env that I have developed but the AWR report says so. I want to know if there is a possible reason for this behavior. The stuck threads start occurring on the Weblogic server after 30 mins I start the test. Below is the exception I got on weblogic just in case it helps

    Hello,
    Just to start off on the right path I would like you to know that I am a Java developer trying to understand the AWR report.

  • How to modify the "To Print" Steps in the Print the Report Dialog box

    From the Crystal Reports Viewer Toolbar, when selecting the Print option,
    a 'Print the Report' Dialog box opens. Is it possible to modify the 'To Print' steps?
    We tried modifying  (commenting-out the To Print steps) in strings_en.js and export.js, but
    when running, the changes do not show up.
    We are using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008, Crystal Reports Viewer Version=10.5.3700.0
    Thank you.

    A warning 1st. Modifying the export.js file is not supported and may lead to all kinds of issues. Also, as soon as somebody else installs an app on that machine, the js files will get overwritten and thus removing your changes.
    Second, I do not think the print dialog is defined in a JS file. In CR 10 I think we built our own print dialog and there is no control over it (e.g.; no exposed APIs).
    I think your best bet will be to create a printer dialog as per your requirements and  launch it from your our own print button.

  • Question about  Load Average in the AWR report

    Hi,
    I've some database in 11.2 RAC on AIX.
    I was analyzing the root causes of eviction.
    Looking AWR Report before the reboot I see:
    DB1
    Host CPU (CPUs:    6 Cores:    3 Sockets: )
    ~~~~~~~~         Load Average
                   Begin       End     %User   %System      %WIO     %Idle
                    4.18     12.33     60.9      12.6       1.6      26.5
    Instance CPU
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                  % of total CPU for Instance:      27.4
                  % of busy  CPU for Instance:      37.3
    %DB time waiting for CPU - Resource Mgr:      10.6
    DB2
    Host CPU (CPUs:    6 Cores:    3 Sockets: )
    ~~~~~~~~         Load Average
                   Begin       End     %User   %System      %WIO     %Idle
                    3.77    13.93     60.7      12.5       1.6      26.7
    Instance CPU
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                  % of total CPU for Instance:       6.9
                  % of busy  CPU for Instance:       9.5
      %DB time waiting for CPU - Resource Mgr:       0.0
    Do you think these value ar high?

    Thank you Jonathan,

    Vinl,
    The WebI (and BOE XI server) is not completely tuned out of the box to support multiple data providers and large data sets.  There are tuning parameters that must be set (and which will cause more memory usage, etc, etc) and must be monitored to expand performance in order to resolve unwanted timeouts.  If you are not the administrator, then you'll have to work with him or her (and possibly open a trouble ticket with tech support for more help, if needed).
    The timeout aspect is frustrating.  We have three servers, development, testing, and production.  The development system is totally off-line and not under any security-lockdown influences.  Testing is our pre-stage and was built by our BI team.  And production is in the server farm built by the Sysadmins.  Of the three servers, only the production server suffers from a two-minute WebI timeout (and Infoview timeouts where the report just spins all day without a response, but in WebI at least we get an ugly "error notice" when the two-minute timeout occurs).  We think that some kind of lockdown was performed on our production server that causes the two-minute timeout for an executing report to occur.  On the one hand it keeps us sharp in not building reports that will make the user wait a long time, and to encourage them to schedule a report through scheduler when it will take longer than two minutes to execute.  On the other hand it can be troublesome to maintain a report that takes so long to run in terms of modifications and corrections.  At times I've had to go into the datawarehouse and rename a production table to something else, then create a mini-version of that production table in order to run the report and modify it (all done in the off-hours of course), and then when done modifying the report, delete the mini-version of the production table and rename the off-named production table back to its original name in order to press on.  The things we gotta do to press on with life....  Good luck, and hang in there Vinl.
