I am trying to get the music content in iTunes on my Mac onto my iPhone. When I connect the devices, the computer does not seen to recognize the iPhone. i.e., on the open iTunes window, the iPhone is not seen as a connected "device".

Go through your syncing prefrences! Make sure what you want to sync is all checked off -

If you are in the USA and have the latest iTunes, you can redownload music via the iCloud beta.
When you do an update, the first step is making a backup. However, the backup does not include the apps themselves or music or some other things. Those get synced back to the iPod from your iTunes library at the end of the update. If those items are not in your library they can't be synced to your iPod.
You should be able to get the contacts and similar stuff back since those are in backup if you have a backup made at the first stage of the update or earlier. Go to Preferences in iTunes, and go to the Devices tab and see the date of the backup(s). If the backup contains the data you want, restore the iPodfrom backup. -

My iPhone 4 no longer syncs with iTunes 11 - "your iPhone disconnected"
Since I upgraded, I really struggle to sync my iPhone on my iMac running Mountain Lion (fully up to date) by USB.
It keeps saying that the iPhone disconnected.
I have tried different cables and I have restarted iTunes and the iPhone. It works once or twice after a reboot.
Anything else I can try please?

One thing that could cause this error message is corrupted data on the iphone or computer. Close itunes and disconnect the iphone.
Now open isync in the applications folder.
Once isync is open, open the isync preferences.
Click the button to reset sync history.
Once sync history is reset, quit isync and open itunes.
Open the itunes preferences and go to the syncing tab.
Check the box to disable automatic syncing for all ipods and iphones.
Connect the iphone and go to the info tab.
Go to the bottom of the info tab and check the box to replace all contact data on the iphone with what is in the computer.
Now click apply on the bottom right corner of itunes. If this does not work, open address book and create a new group.
Add 5 - 10 contacts to that group.
Now go into itunes with the iphone connected and set the iphone to only sync to that particular group.
if the iphone syncs ok, add some more contacts and sync again.
If the iphone does not sync, remove some of the contacts and sync again.
Keep going through this process until you narrow down which contacts are causing the problem. Hope this helps. -
I have been trying to sync/back up my iphone and ipad but iTunes is saying I need to update my iphone to version 11.1 or later. I thought my phone was up to date and I can't seem to update iTunes on my phone anyway. Does anyone know how to update iTunes on my phone or is it a computer problem? I've been having problems with iTunes on my PC so I re-installed it but it's been a nightmare trying to get it to work.
This is the message I receive says " The iphone 'iPhone' cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com.au to download the latest version of iTunes". I get a similar one for my iPad too.
When I go to the website I can only find the download for my PC but not the iPhone.

No, your iPhone i s telling you that you need iTunes 11.1 or greater on your computer in order to sync with the computer.
I've been having problems with iTunes on my PC so I re-installed it but it's been a nightmare trying to get it to work.
Then you should fix this issue with iTunes before you try to sync your iPhone to it.

Every time I plug my iPhone 5s (32 GB) into my macbook pro, iTunes says: The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1723). The current iPhoto version is 9.6. You are probably behind there as well, and that likely caused the first "photo ..." error. As you may know, iOS is changing its approach to managing photos in iOS 8, so I would imagine it would be important to be current with this application. -

Iphone reset to factory fittings, now itunes wont acknowledge iphone device
Hi i hope someone can help, i tried downloading the new itunes 10, and for some reason it reset my iphone to its factory settings, im pretty sure i backed them up at some stage however now when i plug my iphone in my computer its says the symbol for plugging into itunes, and yet itunes doesnt recognise the device at all? what do i do now?
I dont want to re-install itunes 10 in case it wipes my back-up files?I just got off the phone with Apple tech support. The problem with that iPod Service is a problem with XP Service Pack 3, but can be fixed this way:
1. Right click on "My Computer", select "Properties"
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. in the Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings button.
4. Click the Edit byutton to edit your boot.ini file in notepad.
5. Look for "/noexecute=" in the file and change the word after the equals to "optin" (sorry - I don't remember what the original setting was anymore).
6. Save the file, close notepad, click the OK button on Startup and Recovery window, then reboot.
The warning message about the iPod Service should stop. Also, this helps with iPhones that are not recognized by Windows or iTunes after an install fails. -
