Monitor Quality - who to Design for?
I put a kind of watermark/hover image on a site not long ago to add content the owner inisited on but I thought didn't help the look of the page. We went back and forth, and all the time the site owner kept asking for it to be darker, darker, darker... Eventually, it wasn't a watermark and it was abandoned after a shed-load of work. Recently, same site-owner looks at a graphic and asks to tone it down but this time, we're looking on my monitor and he's happy. Then I get an email asking for toning back up a bit. It's really not that important but I'm begining to suspect that it might be a monitor problem but this time I just said no.
So here's the question. Maybe I'm wrong to design to my studio monitor which is high(ish)-end and color-managed? It's one thing to try to design to different size/resolution of monitor but now I'm thinking quality and set-up too!

This website seems to have been built by a series of tweaks and before you know it, the work load has doubled. Still, I'm teetering on the edge of a rant here so, back to the point.
It's not just about color profile Paula, it's about the monitor's ability to even show detail. I think that a design can look really graceful with careful use of images, borders, grads and color but, I've realized that not everyone will see the effect if it's very subtle. My watermark came about after designing and after the request, "Can we put a sample of every image on the front page thingy?" I stuck in a row of thumbs to kind of show how it awful it would look and guess what? It got approved! I tried for a compromise and added the row as a row of very pale grayed out images and a full-color hover and, kept getting the darker, darker, darker until I'm in it up to my neck and hours of work have passed me by.
Oh, I don't mind so much. At least it gives me something to do whilst I while away the hours, days weeks waiting for content! I think that what I learned most, is that some components of a page might not show on a poorly adjusted or inferior monitor, that that might have some accessiblity implications and that it isn't just text that needs contrast. On my 26" HD screen that's color managed it all looks so lovely but....
Ah well, a few more tweaks await.

low brightness values. Since human vision is adaptive and the eye tends to
evaluate colors relative to what is the whitest white and the eye sees very
similar brightnesses if the white sources have quite different temperatures
as long as they are physically well separated.
Are there any other examples you can describe? I have a background in
laser physics
and quantum optics but this seems to have a strong physiological
orientation and I have only an elementary knowledge of this.

As a group admin on the website I want to be notified when a user in my group uploads a file to the group.
Easiest solution would be that in the code handling the upload, we just directly create an email message in there and send it. However, this seems like it isn't really the appropriate level of separation of concerns, so instead we are thinking to have a separate
worker process which does nothing but send notifications. So, the website in the upload code handles receiving the file, extracting some metadata from it (like filename) and writing this to the database. As soon as it is done handling the file upload it then
does two things: Writes the details of the notification to be sent (such as subject, filename, etc...) to a dedicated "notification" table and also creates a message in a queue which the notification sending worker process monitors. The entire sequence
is shown in the diagram below.
My questions are: Do you see any drawbacks in this design? Is there a better design? The team wants to use Azure Worker Roles, Queues and Table storage. Is it the right call to use these components or is this design unnecessarily complex? Quality attribute
requirements are that it is easy to code, easy to maintain, easy to debug at runtime, auditable (history is available of when notifications were sent, etc...), monitor-able. Any other quality attributes you think we should be designing for?

We are creating a cloud application (in Azure) in which there are at least 2 components. The first is the "source" component (for example a UI / website) in which some action happens or some condition is met that triggers a second component or "worker"
to perform some job. These jobs have details or metadata associated with them which we plan to store in Azure Table Storage. Here is the pattern we are considering:
Steps:
Condition for job met.
Source writes job details to table.
Source puts job in queue.
Asynchronously:
Worker accepts job from queue.
Worker Records DateTimeStarted in table.
Queue marks job marked as "in progress".
Worker performs job.
Worker updates table with details (including DateTimeCompleted).
Worker reports completion to queue.
Job deleted from queue.
Please comment and let me know if I have this right, or if there is some better pattern. For example sake, consider the work to be "sending a notification" such as an email whose template fields are filled from the "details" mentioned in

What monitors are currently most appropriate for print jobs?
Hi, I'm a free lance graphic designer for 20 years already and have always used Aperture Grid CRT Trinitron monitors as the most accurate for creating color jobs for print. I bought my last set of monitors Sony's Multiscan G420 in 2001. While they are still pretty accurate, they are aging and I'm thinking of buying new monitors. At that time - 2001, when I purchased my monitors there were a few other technologies like Shadow mask and LCD which were not good at all for creating graphic design color jobs for print.
I'm not sure if they still sell Aperture Grid CRT monitors anymore and would like to find out what monitors/monitor technology is currently most appropriate for print jobs?
I will greatly appreciate your tips.I'd go with a Sony, Samsung, or Sharp LCD and use it as a monitor, then professionally calibrate it.

Hi, guys. I’ve got an issue with cisco ONS 15310 sdh optical network. I’ve got a special slot with Ethernet ports, designed for bridging. Assume, we’ve got to multiplexers, named A and B with ports A0 and B0 respectively. The ios console of these slots says, the configuration is as follows:

Auto mdix
Bridge groups are the same on these ports.

I’m trying to monitor a device with an ip-address connected to port B0. It answers ping if I connect the notebook directly to a device. But if I connect the notebook to port A0 and ping the device pluged in port B0 through the optical network, it doesn’t answer. I tried connections with straight and cross cable.
Guys, who set the network said, it should work as a point to point bridge with no extra configuration. But it doesn’t. I used wireshark sniffer to lookup what’s happening on port A0. All I see is cdp-s from port A0 and self-announcements of the notebook.

Sender: Mail
Receiver: if sender body contain u201DApproveu201D, then call SOAP adapter, If SOAP adapter execute successfully, then send Mail(SOAP adapter executed successfully) and SMS . So receiver is SOAP, Mail and SMS.
My current approach issue:
Three message mapping:
Mapping1: mail to SOAP
Mapping2: mail to Mail
Mapping3: mail to SMS

Issue in current approach: For me first SOAP adapter should complete successfully, after that only my Mail and SMS operation mapping should execute:

Regards, KumarWhat do you mean by successful execution of soap call? Are you talking about Successful response (happy flow) from the soap call instead of application error ? Then based on the response you want to decide sending mail and sms. How big call is your soap ? If your soap interface is very simple I can give the other possible way.
Sender sends the message, use mapping to read the content and then do soap call in the mapping itself and after seeing the soap response decide about two receivers (mail and SMS). If your soap call is very simple one, you can go for it. Otherwise I would not recommend this. The reason is you loose some visibility regards to monitoring during soap call in the mapping.
Other option is go for CCBPM. Here you receive the message, use send step to soap interface which is sync step. Then after seeing the response create another block with fork steps each for two senders mail and sms. If response bad then dont proceed or execute the next block. Simply use exeception or control step to jump out from the block, -
Image Quality In Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010
I am using the new production release of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 and I am having an issue with image quality when adding an image to a crystal report.
The image itself is a .TIF file, and when opened in Windows, the quality of the image, which is mostly text, is very high. The image was created from a electronic PDF form and I intend to use this as a background for the crystal report, over which I will place data fields.
As soon as the image is added to the report you can see the degradation in quality in the design window and in the preview window within visual studio. The quality remains low when viewing the report in the WPF report viewer and when printing from this control.
I have ensured the "Retain Original Image Color Depth" option is checked but this has made no difference (the image is black and white anyway).
The image in the report has been left at its native size, no resizing at all. The image is 355KB in size if that's relevant.
Is there a reason the image looses quality when added to a report? Is it being compressed? More importantly, is there a way to make the image retain its native quality when adding it to a crystal report?

Best practise BW Query design for Crystal Reports integration
Hi all,
I am looking for a guide on best practices when designing a BW Query to be used as data foundation for a Crystal Report.
The scenario is that I am responsible for developing the Crystal Reports part, but not the BW Query part, therefore I would like to provide a list of best practises to the person who is responsible for the Query, this way make sure that the integration will work as good as possible. The setup is of course using BO Integration Kit for SAP.
An example is how to use authorization variables in the query to provide data security. This is just one example, there are problably a number of other things to be aware of. A document containing suggestions for best practices is what I am looking for, or if the document does not exist, input to what should be on such a list.

in regards to the Best Practices for Crystal Reports you can leverage all the knowledge you have on the Query Design today already. if you not the person for designing the query I think it is important to make sure people designing the queries do understand how Crystal Reports is leveraging the elements from the BI Query.

Rule based monitors (RZ20) - Show system availability for selected systems
Hi experts,
I'm new with CCMS monitoring and need an advice for rule based monitors.
I want to create three alert monitors (RZ20). One for our developing systems, one for our quality assurance systems and one to monitor our production systems.
For the start, I want to show data in each of this monitor for free space of the filesytems (MTE class: "FilesystemFreeSpace"), for users which are locked out (MTE class "R3SyslogSecurity") and for the availabilty of the ABAP systems (MTE class "Availability_SysPercent_ABAP").
I started to create the monitor for our developing system and got a problem. I started with the rule "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS" to select our developing systems "HRT", "CRT" and so on. Under this nodes, I defined the mte classes ("CCMS_GET_MTE_BY_CLASS") which needs to be shown: "FilesystemFreeSpace", "R3SyslogSecurity" and "Availability_SysPercent_ABAP".
When I checked the results, I was able to see the free space of the filesystems and whether a user has been locked out. Unfortunately, I recognized that the availability is not shown. Instead there is the message "No MTEs currently available".
I'm aware, the availability cannot be shown on this way, since the agents are part of the central monitoring system and hence i need to choose the central system for "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS". However I'd like to show the availability separated for each system under "HRT", "CRT" and so on. That means for example, there should me a node "HRT", which contains the free space of the filesystems, whether users are locked out, and the availability for the system.
It's not a problem to get a solution with a static monitor. I simply create a virtual node "HRT" and tick the checkbox under "<central system>, ..., <availability>, <hrt> ..."
However, I'd like to use rule based monitor to keep the effort at a minimum by not ticking thousand of check-boxes when I expand the monitored objects.
I also tried to use the rule "CCMS_GET_AVAILABILITY_FOR_SYSTEM", but it doesn't work and SAP documentations say "This rule is reserved by SAP for later use".
Does anybody know a solution for my problem?
In addition, I've got one more question concerning rule based monitors: If I want to create a monitor for my developing systems, I'll not be able to choose "<all>" for "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS". Do I need to create "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS" for each system separately? Or is there another possible way?

Yes, I had tried you suggestion but it didn't work for me.
The problem is, that the Agent "CCMSPING" is part of the central monitoring system by definition.
Furthermore I tried to copy the default availabiliy monitor to look how it is definied. It didn't help.
I made the decision to define my monitor differently (an extra monitor for the availability for all system) and replace this temporalily solution when ""CCMS_GET_AVAILABILITY_FOR_SYSTEM" will be available.
The situation is not so bad after all.

What Screen Resolution should I Design For?

For APEX applications in public sites, what should be the proper screen resolution should I design for? Also, when I put something like a chart in a region, the size of the chart is always fixed. Therefore, it may not fit a particular screen size. I am wondering what should be the proper screen resolution I should target for - considering different desktop monitors and tablets?

I think it is OK to have some elements with a fixed size, like charts and images, while the rest of the page resizes itself. Charts are a problem because I don't think you can give them a "width=100%" as you can do with images. I think it depends on your audience. If only 5% of users will see the page in a small screen, you should use a big chart, and vice-versa. If you use Apex 4.2, it has very interesting themes. For instance, I was surprised to see how fluid this page I created was:

FOr a client they are asking 40 Wireless IP Phone, with 3 floors, IPT side I am clear in design, but for access point design I am bit confused with standalone and WLC design.
Could please light me on Wireless design for standalone AP and WLC controller with AP , in the design plan to give both as options.
And also how to confirm a AP is a standalone or it wil work only with WLC.
Please light me with wireless design for IPT.I would suggest you subcontract this to a partner who is familiar with wireless voice designs. There are a lot of details and caveats to make sure it works.
For example: autonomous APs are not viable for voice installations. You need a controller to prevent the roam times from interrupting the call.

Silently Monitoring Agent who are also Supervisors
Hello,
I have setup agents so supervisors have the ability to monitor their calls. I have 4 users who are agents as well as supervisors. The supervisors can monitor agents who are strictly agents but are unable to monitor agents who are also supervisors. I had an agent make sure he was logged out of the supervisor desktop and logged into the agent desktop only. We made a call which he could answer but when a supervisor tried to monitor the call she received the error posted in the attachment. Troubleshooting thus far has been unsuccessful. Does anyone know if there are issues monitoring the calls of and agent who is also a supervisor? I've looked for documentation regarding this issue with no luck.

Run c:\program files\cisco\desktop\bin\NICQ.exe when a call is active on the agent.
In the same directory, NICQ...txt file will be created.
Check and make sure all tests are passed.
Its the initial test to make sure CAD PC is receiving RTP audio stream from PC or not.
