Monitor takes five minutes to come on

Monitor takes too long to come on. ON light keeps blinking for five minutes before it comes on.

I had the same problem on my MBP.  I posted the same message on here and got no response.  But the good news is that after about a month, it must have fixed itself because now it's an instant-on every time I open the lid, whereas when it was having the problem, about 2/3 of the time was a delay.  Hope you get the same results as me or at least some help from someone knowledgeable on here.

  • Bios Takes Five Minutes to Boot - 990FXA-GD80

Just built a new computer and from the "get go" the bios has taken approximately five minutes to boot. Error codes are 99 (last 4 minutes) than switches to B4 (last 1 minute) than the system boots just fine. I have been able to update the bios to the most recent verison using the MSI USB flasher tool and I have switched out my ram with a different brand to no avail.
    Current System:
    MSI 990FXA-GD80
    AMD FX-8150

    I've tried the following:
    Updated Bios

On another note, anyone have any thoughts on how I can solve this mouse USB problem?
Yes. Please open a ticket with MSI Tech Support so they are aware of the mouse problem with your mainboard. They can then try & duplicate it & come up with a revision to hopefully correct the incompatibility; http://support.msi.com

  • Hotmail works but takes five minutes of heavy processing??

    Hi,
I've downloaded and installed the HTTPMail Plugin (version 1.49 for Tiger) and it does work. However, the computer locks up into constant processing and heavy hard drive activity and after a few minutes, a bunch of little emails pops up.
Technically, it all works... but is it meant to be more tasking than making a DVD or Photoshop work?? How should I look into finding out where this odd behaviour is coming from?
    Cheers

Thanks! Using kernel suspend, the network now comes back great upon resume. However, it still takes about a minute to resume -- according to the logs, it takes 1.14 seconds to suspend and 65.88 seconds to resume... which is kindof on the long side.
How can I tell what's causing the holdup? It would be nice if I could figure out where to start looking for the culprit...

  • Why does firefox hang when opening and takes several minutes to come up?

Why does Firefox hang for several minutes before coming up?

I am also having this problem. When trying to reboot, I get an endless cycle of the BIOS screen, then "MACHINE ERROR", then back. Running the same dmesg command as snoxu results in a similar error message. I am forced to shutdown by holding the power button. Upon rebooting, I get an error message that all extensions have been turned off (using Gnome Shell). Then I have to logout and login.
Shutting down and then restarting works fine.

  • Itunes takes five minutes to start up

I have a Windows 7 computer.  The six months or so it has been taking an extremely long time for iTunes to load.  All other programs happen right away.  Any suggestions?
Thanks in advnace for your assistance.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
When you say your machine is near capacity ... you want to keep at least 10% of your hard drive empty for systems usage. Less than that and the system slows way down.
One thing you can do is to use this tool to see what your largest files are on your system - move data to an external hard drive and delete, or just delete unused/un-needed data: http://software.filefactory.com/Mac/WhatSize_10-3-91.html
You might also run MacJanitor to run the daily/weekly/monthly scripts, which sometimes don't run automatically: http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/macjanitor.html. Some have found using a utility like OnyX can help with disk space. OnyX is available from http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html . Note OnyX does the same thing MacJanitor does, plus much more.
You can use Monolingual to delete the languages you know you'll never use from the operating system - depending on choices it can save over 1GB. Choose language options carefully, as you can muck things up if you rush through it: http://monolingual.sourceforge.net/
This FAQ is good reading on maximizing disk space: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html

  • It takes 15 minutes to print

When i want to print a photoshop document it takes a long time for the dialogs box to show up and from there on every click takes five minutes for photoshop to react. It might hasve something to do with a print pofile I installed for a dye printer but I have deleted tha printer and stil have the problem. May-by som way to reset the printer prifiles but I have no clue on how to do this.

My default printer is HP photosmart 5180. It is a networkprinter
I think the problem started when I changed setting to use the ICC profile of the GX7000 Print Driver for ICC Profile
This printer is connected in a network at my job. It is connected with usb in the network.
I just was to reset the default color profile but I have no clue
In the printer dialog box I do not know if the printer or Adobe should manage the colors.
I do not need nice prints since I will not use my own laptop again for printing on the gelprinter. I just want to make a fast print as I could do normally.
Today I also discovered that Premiere Cs6 cannot open my photoshop files. It might be related.
    Thanks for helping me.

  • I suddenly get this connection is untrusted after being on website for five minutes with it working perfectly I want to turn this off.

I was on the website like five minutes with it working perfectly. My firefox install is new as of two days ago. It suddenly decided the website's certificate is not updated. It wasn't updated five minutes ago, but was working perfectly then. I do not give a ''durn'' what firefox thinks. I want to see this website. There is no ignore this BS and take me to my website button. I want to know how to turn this off permanently. I tried updating firefox and I still have the same issue. Make it stop. My firefox is updated as of five minutes ago to the very newest version. My windows version whatever is also automatically updated so that's not it. I do not use any local antivirus because I am behind a firewall. It can't be the firewall because other computers in my network not using firefox have no problem with the website. Also cannot be my windows because other computers which are just ghosted over copies of the same as this one one my network with same exact default settings also with no changes to them just like this one but using another web browser have no trouble at all with this website. Seriously, nothing is different on the other computers on the network except the use of firefox. They work fine for this website. Firefox brand new update even does not work. Tell me how to fix it. I tried to do the stuff listed in certain other posts here. Apparently this version of firefox is different from the versions talked about when I google because certain parts of the answer don't fit what I see when I try to follow them with this version.

Make sure that the system time and date on your computer are set correctly.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
Note that some firewalls monitor secure (https) connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.

  • Yosemite installed on iMac purchased with Mavericks now takes 2 minutes to boot and give the login screen.

Downloaded and installed os x yosemite on iMac that was purchased originally with Mavericks. When power button is pressed I get start up audio tone and then the the black screen with the white apple symbol with the progression bar. The bar moves very slowly two about one third and then the mouse cursor appears and there it stalls for around two minutes. After the wait the login screen appears and it operates normally. This whole process before update would only take maybe 30 seconds.
If I try the web recovery process it will revert back to Mavericks any suggestions on what this might be. I do have an external Mac passport pro external drive that does have time machine enabled and has been there for months.
    Thanks

After spending a number of hours with Apple Care personnel I was connected with a supervisor and finally got the iMac to boot up on every attempt and in a reasonable amount of time. Login screen now comes on in 30 to 40 seconds and computer is usable within a total time of 1 minute to 1minute 30 seconds.
Here was the process. Tried to download whole operating system with reinstall from utilities menu at power on and at 7 hours progress bar stalled at one third the way. Reason, time machine external hard drive was still connected during process. Disconnected all external connections except power and tried download again. This time whole operating system downloaded in 15 to 20 minutes. Yosemite installed and rebooted automatically and booted to login screen, signed in then to desktop, but boot took around five minutes. Shutdown and connected all peripherals, i.e.. ext. HD, DVD, printers and tried to start. iMac stalled at 2 minutes into progression bar with white apple symbol before login screen. Removed peripherals and tried again and still stalled and would not boot.
What was done to correct is as follows. Started iMac in Safe Mode, cleared all items in cache from Macintosh HD/Library folder and System /Library folder, system start up items, launch agents, and launch daemons contents cleared, removed printers in system preferences, ran disk utilities verify and repair of disk and disk permissions. Shutdown and removed power from iMac. With no peripherals system then booted normally. Reconnected peripherals while iMac was still on and added printers back to system preferences and all is well.
So it seems only reasonable that the downloading problem was hindered by the time machine external hard drive, to which an Apple rep. agreed and the extremely slow boot up or stalled boot up was caused by items in the start up and launch folders. I will state here that I was using my ISP's anti virus software for the Mac which was in the launch folders and most likely was causing the boot up problems.

  • My 27in LED monitor goes black, pops then comes back on

Brand new 27in LED monitor goes black, popping sound comes from speakers (I think) then comes back on. Plugged into my brand new Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz i7. Unplugged every thing and it still does it. Has most recent firmware. Just started after five days of ownership. Do I need to take it back to the Apple Store?

  • Youtube won't load on firefox when just five minutes ago it did. Why is it messing up?

Just five minutes ago youtube was working just fine on firefox However now this comes up "firefox can't find the server at www.youtube.com." what the heck is going on here? It works on my explorer just fine but not on firefox. What happened?
    Also, I use windows vista.

So, even though something worked five minutes ago it can not work right due to that? Somehow, I didn't have to do any of that. I don't know what it was but when I went to check one last time after posting here. The youtube page loaded. And I take care of my cookies and history about every three days. But I am glad it is working now and thank you for the help. I hope anyone else that sees this is able to be helped to.

  • HI,Why every five minutes, the server - side NetStream.publish failure

RTMP spread to the FMS, and then create netGroup and NetStream objects on the server side, then the NetStream.publish (), the beginning of everything is normal, but after five minutes, very strange happens to be five minutes, the client node receives less thanstream had, and I monitor the status of this server-side NetStream no change is to publish the start, why the five minutes it will automatically stop publishing flow RTMP stream has been no problem in the transmission

i assume, from your post, that you are using FMS and are publishing a multicast stream.
if you are using the "Flash Media Development Server", prior to release 4.5, multicast streams time out after about 10 minutes.  as of release 4.5, multicast streams time out after about 30 minutes.  to see this and other limits of the Development Server, see:
       http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/helpmechoose.html
if that is not the problem, then if you are writing your own server-side scripts, perhaps you are not anchoring a NetStream, Stream, or NetConnection object properly and it is being destroyed by the garbage collector.
if you need more help with Flash Media Server, you should direct your questions to the Flash Media Server forums. the Codename Cirrus service is not based on FMS.

  • Labview 6.1 takes 10 minutes to open 600 tags.

We have created a LabView 6.1 application to read tags in a Modbus OPC server.
If we monitor 100 tags, the start-up is instantaneous.
If we monitor 300 tags, it starts in a few seconds.
Monitoring 608 tags takes 10 minutes to start.
How can we get LabView to start faster?
    Server w/2 Xeon 1Ghz processors.
    1G RAM.
This is the only process running on the server, save the ancillary stuff.

If you chose to try LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC Module), I would use the National Instruments Modbus Driver. With LabVIEW DSC, the Modbus driver continiously polls the modbus items you are interested in at the rate you specify. These values are held in the DSC real-time database, and optionally stored in the DSC historian. DSC VIs allow you to read multiple tags at a time based on the group that you assign to the individual tags, or as specified by a tag list. I have attached a bitmap of the on-line help for the VI.
I'll be happy to help with other questions.

  • MacBook Pro takes 7 minutes to restart. Is it ok?

    I have a MacBook Pro:
      Nombre del modelo: MacBook Pro

When it becomes slow during the day, I restart it. Sometimes it takes very long just to shut down (the spinning bars keeps rotating in a black background), approximately two minutes. So, I rather simply turn it off (I click OK in the "do you really want to do it" warning), this method is faster.
Either way, my MacBook takes long to restart. It begins with a grey background for a minute or less, then a slim bar appears under Apple logo and starts to fill. This process takes three minutes, more or less. Then, when the bar is filled completely, the login screen with my photo appears. I login and immediately the pesky warning "Do you want to reopen application" appears; I click "Cancel". The desktop background picture appears, but just that, no menu bar, no dock, no icons. MacBook stays in this state for two and a half minutes. Then dock appears, no menu bar yet. I try to start an application with the Launcher icon in the dock but the screen gets blurred with the legend "Loading applications..." and MacBook stays in that state for another minute or more. I scape this blurred screen, I try to click something else but nothing is clickable, until menu bar appears. Then starts loading, clock mini icon, battery, TimeMachine, BlueTooth, iTranslate, DPS and other icons painfully slow. When everything seems to be on place, I click any item in the menu bar and the computer doesn't responde until the third click. Then everything starts working normal... until mid-afternoon, when the computer has become so slow that I have to restart it again.
As you can see, it is really frustrating, painful, unproductive.
    Is this normal?
    What can I do?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
