Monitor w2072a

So my nephew and my son asked to play a game on my computer last night while my sister and I were talking.  I have been told that my nephew is a whiz at computers so I felt comfortable allowing this.  I am not sure what happened.  He said that my computer froze and that he selected "Start" and "Shutdown".  Only problem is, now my computer sounds like it turns on.  However, my HP W2072a monitor turns on and says "No Signal" and then says "Monitor Going to Sleep".  FIrst I have only had this monitor for about a month.  I have tried to change out the cables.  Nothing.  I tried to connect my other monitor, it says, "No Signal".  I don't know what to do to fix this.  I have unplugged everything and replugged it in.  (Although, the way that my desk is, they couldn't have reached any of the cables).  PLEASE HELP!!!  Of course I take classes online and I have to finals to take by tomorrow!

Hi,
With the information that you have provided about switching cables, and trying a different monitor. This suggests that the issue itself is with the computer not the monitor. To be able to troubleshoot this issue more accurately, please provide me with the full model number of the computer, as well the version of Windows that you do have. I have included the document 'Guide to finding your product number'.
Thank you.

  • 2nd monitor W2072a suddenly has no signal

2nd monitor W2072a suddenly has no signal, tried switching cables & rebooting but box comes up states Scanning then No Signal.  I desperately need help since the only way I can use a computer is with 2 monitors due to a disability

    Hi ToniClark,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you have issues with your secondary monitor. What happens if you disconnect the first monitor that is currently work and just hook up the W2072a by itself? If it works then we know it is something with your computer system and if it still fails then their could be a problem with the monitor.

  • Will my W2072a monitor sound work with VGA to VGA connection?

HP guy said I need DVI to get sound.  I used HDMI from PC to DVI on Monitor and still no sound  No where in documentation does itr say VGA to VGA won't work for sound!  Tried most everything in forums  Sound vard ok as external speakers work fine.  HELP!!!!

vga is a simple video signal, also most dvi will not support audio.
Some graphics card seems to support this now, see:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface#DVI_and_HDMI_compatibility
Normally you have to use a hdmi graphics card or a monitor which can be connected to the audio output of the pc.

    Hi,
When did this first occur? Does this symptom only happen when scrolling while on the Internet?
What is the product number of your PC?
It may be a graphics driver problem. Have you updated the graphics drivers recently?
Do you have many browser helpers running and what web browser are you using?

  • Since update download monitor shows "No Signal" and "Monitor Going to Sleep" over and over

I have an HP w2072a Monitor and a Pavillion p7-1436s computer.  I run Windows 8.  Since downloading an update yesterday, I cannot get my monitor to work.  I have unplugged it, plugged it in, tried another monitor, tried another cable, turned the computer off and on several times, played with the sleep button, tried all the buttons on the monitor--nothing works.  If I hit the "On" button, the light turns to blue briefly, I get the screen showing "No signal" then "Monitor Going to Sleep" comes up and the light turns amber---over and over again.  Could this be related to the update I received?  I think the update said it was setting a restore point, but with no monitor, I am stuck!

    Hi dianthus,
Sorry to hear about the issue after doing the update. Do you recall what the update was for? I have included a document regarding your issue.

  • Connecting two monitors to my HP Pavilion p7-1415 destop

I just got this new p7-1415 and I decided to use my old HP w1858 monitor and  a new HP w2072a monitor. The computer has two DVI ports so  I tried to connect the second monitor with a VGA to DVI adapter like i did the first one but it didn't work. So I ordered  a DVI-D dual link cable ( this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E8SY5G/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 ).
But it still isn't connecting. Please help me.
I just got this computer brand new about over a week ago.

    Hi kishap8,
Have you made changes in the display settings to make the PC use both monitors? It doesn't extend the screen on it's own.
Here is an HP Support document on how to change display settings: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03366869&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5309983
And here are a couple videos (for Windows 7 that is very similar to Win 8) on how to work with multiple monitors:

  • Duel Monitor

I need to setup two VGA monitors but not sure if what i have in mind will work so just need a little advise..This PC is new out of the box Pavilion 500-205T CTO desktop  with the nvida card, it has the standard DVI and HDMI ports, connecting one monitor to the DVI to VGA adaptor runs one monitor... Will purchasing a HDMI to VGA adapter work to get the second monitor running?  Will this cause any issues with display (need both displays to match).  Both monitors are exactly the same, new out of box HP W2072a 20" diagnoal led backlit LCD monitors.

Ok i purchased this Honeywell Active HDMI to VGA M/F Adapter Converter Dongle [White] backed up by Honeywell Limited Lifetime Warranty... i'll let you know if it works... unless someone already know....

  • Two monitor Hookup

I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 410f desktop computer and have purchased two HP W2072a monitors.  Now I just need to know how to hook them up!  The monitors came with VGA cables but the only "VGA" hookup I seem to have is with an adaptor to convert the VGA cord to DVI-D.  The connector beside it is HDMI.  The VGA connector and another one are covered so I assume there is nothing under them.  How can I hook up both of my monitors?  Please be gentle.  I am only semi-literate in computer speak.
Would my best bet be to purchase a DVI-D cable for one monitor and a DVI-d to HDMI cable for the other?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Well, that means HP has not updated this:
      http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02481315&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4330543
Anyway, you can use DVI-D and the HDMI-DVI adapter, no need any converter because from digital to digital.
    Good luck.

  • Monitor not powering on

I have a w2072a hp monitor which Is now not powering on and the led too doesnt work .recently I changed an option on the osd,the connectivity option from vga to dvi now its not powering on plss help me

Apple Support had me reset the SMC and after doing so my monitor came back up and functioned like it was supposed to.  Support said sometimes after updates we need to reset the SMC if changes aren’t cleared from the previous update resulting in behaviors like I was experiencing. Below are the steps i followed to reset the SMC.....
    1. Shut down the computer.

2 Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your computer.

3 On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

4 Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.

5 Press the power button to turn on the computer.

On MagSafe power adapters, the LED might change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • W2072a power adapter

I have 2 - W2072a (20') Monitors. At first only the one had a problem with the power adapter. I tried other adapters and they all were very "Fusy". Once I get the light to come one, it stays on, unless I have to move the monitor. Then I have to kepp jiggling it till the light stays on. Well I had to unhook the other Monitor today and it started doing the same thing, when I tried to plug it back in. It's a pain in he butt, till I get them to finally come on. Is there any tricks to get better contact? It seems like the chord has to almost be "loose" to work.

  • Hp w2072a with hdmi satelite receiver

I have a HP W2072a led monitor, itry to use my monitor with hdmi receiver (CVS DN 8530) with hdmi to dvi connector.
I tried plug monitor to receiver, monitor wrote "monitor going to sleep". I tried different definition but unfortunetly result same.
How van i use my monitor with hdmi receiver?
    Bes regards.

I have looked at the specs for both the monitor and the receiver. You should be able to use any standard HDMI to DVI-D cable to connect them. I verified that the monitor HDCP compliant, so this shouldn't be an issue. I recommend trying a new/different cable just to eliminate this as a possible cause of the problem. The only problem that you will run into when connecting these components in this fasion might be sound. HDMI carries audio while DVI-D does not, you may need to find another source for sound than your monitor.
I work on behalf of HP, but my opinions are my own.
Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved. If both apply......do both.
