Monitoring client 000 instead of active client

Issue: Ideally, we would like to monitor the active client but are not given SAP_ALL / SAP_NEW. Hence we end up monitoring client 000 where we get full auth. But does this gives all the info reqd for monitoring and administration?
1. With Solution Manager as the monitoring system, is it ok if we monitor client 000 of the target systems instead of the active client?
We intend to perform BASIS tasks (Perodic tasks such as servers (SM51), processes (SM50), database (DBxx), O/S (ST06), Dumps (ST22), bkg jobs (SM37) and so on)
2. Is there any documentation that shows the difference between monitoring client 000 and the active client.
Please note, we intend to configure BPM in the future, and hence we understand that the active client needs to be monitored.
3. In case we intend to monitor the active client, where can we get the list of auths (roles/profiles) reqd to perform the the above BASIS tasks
It would be great if we could get info on other ways to address this issue.
Thanks in advance

Hi.
I will try to shed some light on your questions.
1 For monitoring purposes client 000 is well suited. There are only a handful of activities that must be performed in the specific client. Example, create background job, start client copy, (look at transactional data). Reading background job logs is client independent (consider to put in the client in the name when you operate mulitple clients).
2 I cannot recall any official document stating difference. There are some information on help.sap.com defining the usage of client 000 and 001.
3 This is as hard to answer as it is to say how long a rope is. It really depends on what activities that is going to take place in the active client. simplest way is to list transactions/tasks that basis needs to perform and create the correct authorization from.

  • Use of clients 000 and 001 & their differences?

    hi guys,
Any one explan me the use of predefined clients 000 and 001
    The differences between them

    Hi,
Clients 000, 001 and 066 are standard clients that are pre-delivered by SAP. These clients are not supposed to be used in development, quality and production environments.
Client 000 is basically used as working client only when you do support pack upgrade or ABAP load generations (SGEN) and implementing additional languages, etc. Otherwise, client 000 should not be used as a working client. The same applies to client 001. But the only exception with 001 is, with Solution Manager, 001 will be your working client. You will do all configurations and obtain support from SAP through this client. With other Systems like BW and CRM, this client (001) will not be a working client. Two standard users (SAP* and DDIC) are defined in the clients 000 and 001.The client 066 is used only for EarlyWatch functions (Monitoring and performance). The user EarlyWatch is delivered in client 066 and is protected using the password SUPPORT. This password needs to be changed for security purposes.

  • What's the differece  between BI client 000 and 001 ?

    Hello exports,
We copy the client 000 to client 100,  then we done the configuration "Integration into Portal " at client 100.
But we can't success, we found that client 100 miss 7 system users( J2EE_ADMIN,SAPJSF,SLDDSUSER and so on). After we created 7 system users manually, the configuration "Integration into Portal" was sucessful .
As default, Portal connect to client 001 .
Is there any other differences bewteen BI client 000 and 001  except 7 system users ?
    Thank you !

Clients are part of the defining technical structure of the SAP System. Each client contains its own master records and set of tables.
Customizing is either client-specific or cross-client, depending on which business data is configured. Cross-client Customizing is valid for all clients in an SAP System.
When you install the SAP System, the following clients are available:
Client 000 as SAP reference client
Client 001 as production preparation client

    Hi,
For changing the authorization in your personal computer, you should use Tcode: PFCG. There are a few links that you can check.
You create a new role for yourself and give full authorization. Then, assign it to your own user id.... then it should work. Check the below links for details.

  • How to transfer the Dispatch customizing from client 000 to working client?

    Dear Experts
we have installed GTS 8.0 since this morning. Now we would like to put the default customizing from SAP (which is available in the 000 client) to our working client. Till now, all customizing tables are empty.
I had a look in the OSS notes and found the note 1286195, where it is described to activate the BC-Sets for the customs processes in Switzerland. But the note is valid for GTS 7.2. No information about the 8.0 version.
My question is, do I have to activate the Sets according to the note also in our system? if not, how can I transfer the default customizing form the client 000 to my working client?
    Thanks for your hints.
    Regards,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas
You can follow the given step to get standar configuration of SAP:
Choose a transaction in the customizing ( eg. Define Partner Function)
Go to the menu Utilities u2013 Adjustment
Select the FRC connection from client 000
Select your entries and click on Adjust
    Select COPY ALL button
    Click on YES (copy changes)
Your entry is added in the list
You need RFC connection to client 000.
    Hope this helps

  • Copying Client 001 instead of 000

    Hi Experts,
Just a query, we've installed srm 7.0 ehp1 and after finishing the post processing i've noticed that we've copied client 001 to the new client (sandbox client - 251) instead of 000. is there any drawback or consequence of doing that? the thing is we have already configured SRM-ECC integration (SRM 251 and ECC 251).
Is there any harm? because reviewing the client 001 - it is copy of master client 000.. but based on the document -
    5.16Performing the Client Copy
SAPinst creates three ABAP clients during the installation, client 000, client 001, and client 066.
Client 000 is the SAP reference client for ABAP.
Use client 000 as source client for the client copy.
please help me analyze and explain if there will be a drawback about copying client 001 instead of client 000. should i delete the existing client251 and create a new client251 copied from client 000 and repeat the SRM - ECC integration?
    Thank you.

As far as the SLD goes, I am no expert. I suggest you take a look at the SLD documentaion:

  • Autoreaction doesn't work from client 000 but works from other clients

Autoreaction doesn't work from client 000.
More details coming.   Having trouble getting the thread to post.

We set up a new local auto-reaction.   This is not a central auto-reaction.  The auto-reaction writes a
message to the UNIX system log /var/adm/messages when a "Security"
alert i.e. - Logon, RFCLogon, TransactionStart, etc.  occurs.
The RZ20 alerts are being properly generated and can be seen in both
the CEN system and the local system. On the local system if I view
all alerts for the MTE using transaction RZ20 and select one of the
alerts and choose Edit -> Nodes ( MTE ) -> Start methods -> Start auto-
reaction method. The auto-reaction writes the message to the UNIX
system log. If I execute the same procedure in client 000 nothing is
written to the UNIX system log.
I've also tried triggering a new alert and running SAPMSSY8 from SE38
while the alert is still in status ACTION_REQUIRED. If I do this from
client 010, an entry is written to the unix system log. If I do this
from client 000, nothing is written to the unix system log. In both
cases, the status of the alert changes from ACTION_REQUIRED to ACTIVE.
Since the System Cyclic program ( SAPMSSY6 ) that triggers SAPMSSY8
always runs in client 000, the auto-reaction never writes the messages
    to the UNIX system log.
I have been working on this issue for days.  There are several posts and notes relevant to a similar situation with e-mail alerts that are not working from client 000 because SAPCONNECT is not set up in client 000.   However, this auto-reaction does not send an e-mail, so SAPCONNECT set-up should not be necessary.   I've searched Service Marketplace and could not find any notes that resolved the problem either.
I've also checked CCMS Self-Monitoring and cannot find any alerts or errors relevant to this problem.
Does anyone know why the auto-reaction only works from a client other than client 000?
    Best regards,
    Dave

  • SAPSYS user+client 000+Plugin HTTP

    Dear Expertise,
As a part of monitoring activity I have executed SM04 where in I found SAPSYS user from 000 client and the corresponding activity is Plugin HTTP. I wonder many simillar entries in sm04(around 40) I known he is a system user but I have very less knowledge about sapsys userid .
Please any one kindly clarify me that what is he and what he is doing at the moment? is he a good sign or harmful? how to regulate him.

"Plugin HTTP" indicates: we are dealing with http requests (inbound).
And the fact that "user SAPSYS / client 000" is the one assigned to the taskhandler session (SM04) told me: this session is unauthenticated. So, combining both (knowning that there are "public ICF services") I've concluded that this is a public service.
Well, there are three different types of ICF services:
    - those that require authentication (default)
    - those that run unauthenticated (public services, operated under 000/SAPSYS)
    - those that run under a configured identity (of a service user)
From the outside you cannot distinguish between the last 2 ones - in both cases you can use the service without being prompted for authentication.
And yes: 000/SAPSYS is not assigned to any authorizations.

  • Assign Logical System to client 000

I need to install Bw at SAP ECC 6.0, in doing so on the client 000 with the transaction RSA1, present the message that should be assigned System logical customer 000, it does not bring inconvenience to any future activity,
    Thanks

    Hi Victor,
If you're installing BW you shouldn't use cleint 000, create a new client...
Once you create the client go to transaction SALE and You'll see Create logical system ans assign logical system in the list.
First create a new logical system for the client to use... then assign the logical system to the client.

  • CHARM - avoid developer login to client 000 when import to QA system

    Hi Gurus.
I've activated a new system to use CHARM for import. When testing the import to QA, the logon screen to QA 000 is displayed.
I already applied SAP Note 913232 which suggests that the TMSADM user (with profile S_TMW_OPERA) in QA 000 can be used as default user for import so that developer don't need to exist in QA 000, but it still didn't fix the issue.
Are there other configurations that I need to do to fix this issue.
We are currently using SOLMAN 7.0 SP25.

    Hello,
after installing SolMan 7.1 SP10 successfully I also completed the steps "System Preparation" and "Basic Configuration".
Now I'm connecting the managed ABAP systems to the Solution Manager by performing step "Managed Systems Configuration".
After several other ABAP systems I'm now connecting our productive CRM 7.0 EHP1 system "CM3" (SAP_BASIS 702).
I also connected the CRM development and CRM quality assurance system without a problem.
For client 000 everything worked fine, the RFC destinations were created and a green light is shown.
Now the problem is to connect the productive client 100:
The log for Activity RFC Connection says:
    The corresponding dev_rfc tracefile says:

    Does anyone have a clue?

    Hello Ranjith,
    thanks for your quick response.
The ST-A/PI software component is the same on all systems: 01Q_700 #2.
    SolMan system: SM3
CRM systems: CM0 (ok), CM1 (ok), CM3 (problem with client 100, client 000 OK).
I also tried the recommendation found in the SAP Community Network
(http://scn.sap.com/thread/3483642) but this didn't help either:
    1.Delete system from LMDB.
2.Delete system from SLD of solman.
3.Re- register the system to SLD of solman(rz70 for AS ABAP)
[the LMDB synchronizes with the SLD every 10 minutes, system CM3 is visible again in the LMDB]
4.Now follow the steps in managed system configuration.
The wizard worked fine for client 000 but throws this error for client 100.
I use all the latest installation and configuration guides.
For this step I'm using the guide "Managed System Configuration" that is available in the SOLMAN_SETUP wiki.

P.S. In total I have already connected eight systems (SAP_BASIS 700 to 731) but this is the first system that gives an error.

  • CCMS_ONALERT_EMAIL with client 000

    Hi,
I tryed to send an E-mail from the System by using the CCMS_ONALERT_EMAIL method in transaction [rz20].
I created a new method in [rz21] with the parameters:
    sender: SAP*
    recipient: .[email protected]
    recipient-typeid: U
The problem is: the default client in our system is 001. I read I have to use a sender in client 000. Could I use the default user SAP* because I have no access to client 000 or the login failed.
I also need this client to set the SAPconnect (transaction [sicf])
The smtp settings in transaction [scot] should be right.
I have a process chain with a failure and tryed to send an Alert E-mail but notihng happens.
    Are there other reasons?
    Could anybody help me?

  • Transfer Users from Clients 000, 001 & 066 Into CUA

I have CUA setup and currently I have all clients in all systems in CUA except for clients 000, 001 & 066. My first thought is to add these clients to CUA and tranfer users sap* & ddic. It seems to be a good way to make sure the 2 accounts passwords are easily changed and managed across the board. I already have trusts to all of the systems so it would be very easy to bring in these clients without much work. Are there any downsides to bringing in these clients and transferring sap* & ddic?

    Hi Robert,
    Here is my opinion :
I, personally, do not feel that activating CUA for 000, 001, 066 is a good idea. I would consider other options then CUA to ease 000, 001, 066 maintenance. If, for some reason, I have to use CUA for 000, 001, 066, I would create a specific client in a central CUA for management only these three clients but not the others.

    Mike

    no, no need.
you will create a logical system name for the copied client (such as 100)
